Tusks Up, Mammoth!

  1. Honesty not mad about how the boys played overall. Wedgewood was absolutely stonewalling us. And no goal on our empty net so I’ll fucken take it lol

  2. Played them much closer than some of our meetings last year. You could tell we were missing Kerfy on the pk. Hope next time we meet them it’ll be will a healthy forward group.

  3. Honestly, other than that awful powerplay for Utah in the first period, I really like what I was seeing from them. The extra attacker was a real threat this game… and they all were able to create some really nice opportunities. Their goalie just managed it really well.

  4. Pretty good game, really. Avs are in a tier above, but the boys held their own for the most part.

Also, Denver is a Great Plains city that happens to be an hour’s drive from the mountains. Basically Wichita.

  5. A rough loss to start the season, but there was a lot to like tonight. Our defense did a fantastic job of stopping the shots in the final 2 periods, Veggie had a great game with a .923 Save%, and Guenther proves yet again why he’s becoming one of the most clutch young players in the league.

But we need to learn to rein in the penalties. The game-winning goal ended up coming on the penalty kill, and the late penalties took precious opportunities from us. Another issue we need to address is the face-offs. Only winning 32% of faceoffs is giving way too many opportunities, especially to a great team like the Avalanche.

The season is young and our boys are just getting started. See you all against Nashville! Tusks up!

  6. Sucks to miss the net that many times with the extra attacker but gg boys, so pumped for this season

  7. Phenomenal job on defense, Simashev looked like he’s been an NHLer all along. I’m hoping Cole gets scratched, he’s becoming a liability far too often.

Offense is looking off, just can’t capitalize on these breakaways or get any solid plays setup. Lots of dump and chase and very little rebound shots that we tend to get with Hayton and Schmaltz.

Guenther is a fuckin menace, he’s going to have a killer year and I hope Cools and JJ can match his pace.

  8. I think that was an excellent game by Utah. We had breakaways, defense looked solid compared to early last season, and everyone skated hard. The penalties were tough. Wedgewood played a phenomenal game, and is truly the reason won that game. He stopped every breakaway, and had some great saves 5 on 5. Avs are a stanley cup contender this year with that roster, so a loss to them isn’t too suprising in the early season.

Tough loss? Yes, because we played well. However, if we play every team this hard and close, we have a lot going for us this season.

    TUSKS UP

  9. We did better than I was afraid we’d fare against our Mountain Brethren, so I’m only mildly annoyed with the loss. Our tusks will be up and ready for ’em next time when they play here on October 21st, though.

  10. Solid start. I wasn’t expecting a W but we played hard and I’m happy with that effort. Going to be another fun season. Cant wait for the home opener. Let’s go get some Ws before next Wednesday 🍻

  11. Not sure why people thought Colorado was gonna shit on Utah. Utah’s defense is gonna be better this year overall and Veggie should have energy again to play well.

  12. Bad news: No game notes tonight

Good news: Went and saw Tron: Ares instead of the game and holy crap it was awesome! I’d spend more words giving my review of it, but I figure I’m on the wrong subreddit for that haha

Love you all, love this team!

    Let’s go club the Sabres!!!!
