[Nate Taylor] Chiefs’ Jones owns up to not chasing Lawrence

  1. He’s a class guy, and he’s never going to say it, but the coaches need to step up and take the blame for this one. They played him too much, and he was completely gassed. The coaches rely on him too much, and it takes a toll. I get that Omenihu hasn’t had a great season so far, and Mike Danna has been injured. Why are they not using Gillotte more though? Why can’t they get him snaps in place of Omenihu, just to keep guys a little more fresh throughout the games?

It’s not like the same excuse they use on rookie WRs is going to stand up here. He doesn’t need to memorize entire route trees of all five eligible receivers. Rookie DEs start all the time in this league. Coaches need to start pulling their heads out of their asses.

  2. I was pissed when it happened, but he’s had a shitty week as it is, not gonna pile on him. Also, 10 other guys didn’t seem to care to tackle him either.

  3. The second I saw it I knew he honestly thought the play was over.

Even the best players make mistakes. I expect him to make up for it every game the rest of the season, and that’s the kind of guy we know him to be anyway.
