Patrick Mahomes throws a 98 yard pick-6 | Kansas City Chiefs Vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Okay, wild play here in the Chiefs Jaguars game. So, right here, this is the situation. So, the uh it’s a tie game with two and a half minutes left in the third quarter. You see that the Jaguars are selling as though they’re going to send a heavy pressure, right? Uh you have a lot of guys at the line, which is a lot of times what you’ll do in a goal line situation. If this is this concept, what does that mean for the three eligible receivers off to the right for Momes? Well, you have one defender covering each of them. you’d expect just man coverage for them. So, okay, that’s what’s probably going to be happening here. Mahomes takes a snap. He looks over and I got to be honest, I think this was legitimately just a blown coverage. Juju Schustster is open here. I I don’t think that was supposed to happen. I think that he just happens to get wide open on this play. And Mahomes sees this, his eyes get wide, and he’s thinking, let me hit it to Smith Shuster and we have a touchdown. The issue is Devin Lloyd, the linebacker, dropped back in the coverage and Mahomes just doesn’t notice this. And you know, I will say this as well, uh, these plays can be tricky because you look, you know, at Mahomes’s angle, there’s offensive and defensive lineman. He has to look over like, you know, it can be difficult. Tom Brady threw an interception that was pretty similar to this cuz he couldn’t see over the line. That being said, you got to notice this, as a quarterback, it is your job. It’s really difficult. But Mahomes doesn’t read the coverage. And Devin Lloyd makes the grab and he is off to the races. And this is going to be a very fun return. So, first you have Mahomes who’s going to try and see if he can uh tackle him here. Watch Deon Lloyd sidestep him. He’s going to break a tackle from Kareem Hunt. You got offensive players trying to tackle. It doesn’t always work out. But now it’s Taekquin Thornton who is the speedster. He’s saying, “Okay, I got to be the one who can outrun everybody and, you know, get to Devin Lloyd.” Watch as he’s going to go forward. Um, you know, there is a block there to kind of slow him down, but at this point, I’m thinking, oh no, Devin Lloyd might fumble the football. It doesn’t seem like he realizes that there is a player right behind him. Thornton sees this as well. He could just make the tackle and at least make sure that you don’t give up the touchdown. I kind of think it’s the right call though. Go for the punch out. See if you can completely save the day. But when he punches the ball, Lloyd doesn’t even doesn’t even move. He has it secure enough there. He’s strong enough that it’s not an issue. and Devin Lloyd uh is able to get a what a 99 yard 98 yard pick six on the play. Don’t see those too often, especially when it’s off the hands of Patrick Mahomes.

  1. If you remember on the Chiefs game before, when the won, they were bragging how “they’re back”. One game doesn’t mean you’re fixed. It’s means you won “that game”.

  4. Mahomes messed up by throwing a bullet pass. Then again, the fake blitz was well-executed and made him want to get rid of the ball asap. Well-played by the Jags.

  7. I appreciate the talent of Patrick Mahomes. However, I think the majority of fans are sick of watching the Chiefs. After the Lions beat them Sunday night, they will stop being relevant.

  14. The reason why the punch out was unsuccessful was because he tried to with his right hand but he definitely should have with his left hand and punch downwards instead with his right hand he punched upwards and it didn't affect him whatsoever.
