Pelicans’ New Core Is LEGIT ?!? | Jordan Poole & Saddiq Bey Lead the Charge as Pelicans WIN 127-92
So, the Pelicans handled their business in Australia. They came, they saw, they conquered. They did what they had to do. Couple things I did like, a couple things I didn’t like. So, we got to break this down right now on a Pelican Scoop. Y’all know what to do. Cue my music. [Applause] Smash that like button, leave a comment, and subscribe to stay on top of your Pel’s content. Now, Running Point, here’s Jordan. What is good, YouTube? Welcome back to another edition of the Pelican Scoop. I am your host, the most Jordan catches. And ladies and gentlemen, the Pelicans did what they had to do, man. They went to They went to Australia. Team bonding, team everything. I just feel like the chemistry is at all time high right now. Everybody, I feel like this trip was one of the best things that could have happened to the team, man. You know, really getting away from America, really locking in. You got nothing but to do but to talk to each other. Got nothing but to do but to talk to each other. Learn figure each other out. Go look at some kangaroos. Go look at some great white sharks attack surfers. You know what? What else is there to do in Australia? I really No, no disrespect. I just not educated enough. I don’t know. But other than that, they came, they saw, they did what they had to do. Now, I’m not going to sit here acting like these winds are so are earthshattering. The Pelicans win in Australia. They pull off a upside. No, they’re supposed to win. They’re supposed to beat NB the best the NBA has to offer for them. They’re supposed to do that. You’re the NBA, you’re the best the world has to offer. So, so this is not some, oh yeah, the Pelican. No, this is more just the improvements that I’ve seen from game one to game two. Like what what it could be. So, Trey Murphy didn’t even play last night. All right. Apparently had foot soreness. So, and Jose ended up getting hurt later in the game. We got to see what happened with him. So, keep in Tre Murphy didn’t play. But, let’s just talk about the new guys that Joe Dumar brought into the building that Joe Polo Joe said from the jump that he’s going to bring in dogs. He wants to have just guys gonna out there and goddamn eat a steak with his hands. Not no fork, no nothing. Just uh dirt dogs. We want junkyard dogs. So Sadique Bay. Okay. Jordan Pool, Kavon Looney, Mai Peavey, Fierce, and we got to see what Queen I mean those five right now have been playing lights out. Those five right now have been breathing life into this team. I mean obviously Zion is the engine. He’s the motor that’s going to keep everything rolling. But those five have brought nothing but goodness to this team. I don’t even know if good is the right word to use, but I don’t give a damn. That’s what I’m saying. First of all, let’s start with Sadique Bay. Sadique Bay off the bench. Oh my goodness. He’s going if if he can stay healthy because, you know, he’s working back from the I’m pretty sure it was ACL that he had on the Hawks or whatever. But he showed flashes last night of Yeah. This the guy that scored 51 points when he was on the Pistons couple a couple years back when he was a young cat in the in the league. this man. I mean, he’s looking real bra like he out there looking like a uh Charles Barkley or something, but damn, Sadi Bay, his shot was falling last night. He played a hell of a game. He’s been playing play he didn’t do much in the first game, but this game shows you like, oh, this guy, this is why this is going to be a silly Willie guy. This is why Sadi Bay is going to be in the rotation year round and year out. I said Trey Murphy was hurt, Sadique Bay in the lineup. Herb Jones didn’t play for his game. Sadique Bay was in the lineup. So, that’s what Sadique Bay is actually going to be your six-man. He’s the sixman of his team. And I think that is a good six-man if his shot is falling like how it was falling last night and he’s doing the dirty things. He uh second on the team of rebound. Well, really like because him and me both had six rebounds, but still he had six rebounds last night. The rebounding was was well well improved. S had nine rebounds. But Sadi Bay talked like I said, but Sadique Bay is going to be an animal. Jordan Pool, we see what Pool was going to do. We we know it’s going to be the pool party pool. It be like he’s traveling. I don’t know. I’m not going to sit here with his moves illegal or not. It be looking like be, but hey, they ain’t calling it, so we going to just let it slide. Pool played a hell of a game. I didn’t even tell y’all the stats. My bad. I’m sorry. Pelicans won 127 to 92. I’m just talking about how good they are. I’m like, well, what exactly what did they do, Jordan? What what are these numbers? Oh, so uh my bad. My bad. My bad. But as you can see from the screenshot on the screen, who I said first? Who I said first? Uh Sadique Bay. Yeah, he played 21 minutes, 21 points, six rebounds, three assists. Then I said Jordan P. He uh played 18 minutes. He was one of the cuz Zion and Looney didn’t really play the second half but uh Pull like I said he had 18 points 15 point I said 18 points 18 minutes 15 points three for seven from the field one for five from three he was getting to the free throw line a lot four assists you love to see it another new guy Looney Looney didn’t Looney’s again again Looney is one of those guys you cannot watch look at the box score and be like damn what the hell like no Looney impact what Looney Looney showed me that the Pelicans are probably the worst screen setting team in the gay for the last since Steven Adams was here. Oh, Yonas and Fellow Junas was okay on setting screen. I’m not going to, you know, discredit or disrespect Yonas. But Looney shows you what a damn screen is supposed to look like. Looney Looney reminds me of them damn 2K bigs back in like 2K17, 2K18 with that Hall of Fame brick wall. Just come up and you ain’t going nowhere. Yeah, that that’s what Looney doing. Looney Looney knocking your ass out and he’s grabbing the board. He only had um two rebounds last night and rebounded one of his missed free throws, matter of fact. But Looney, he’s one of those new guys and I think his what he’s going to do for Mei cuz Mei off the bench. I mean, trust me, we going to break it down the game. Let me get through these stats. Another new guy, Fierce. He played 24 minutes. Well improved game from game one to game two. It shows you that this kid, there’s a reason why this kid is in the NBA right now. The to show how he was all sped up and out of source game one forcing or whatnot and how he was just so in control game two. obviously had his little moments here and there, but just to see the improvement from game one to game two cuz I got to give credit where this dude this man was passing the ball this time. He was looking for that extra pass. He was he was making some dimes to pull. I really love how him and Pool had his chemistry. I that’s what I really like. That’s one of my main takeway was from was having Fears are the one and P too. That right there was that was clicking. Now defensively wise, I mean Fears was he he’s willing to play some defense. Ain’t like Fears ain’t out there trying to be a cone, but Pull uh his defense might be uh might be a question this year. We we we going to see about that. Zion only played 15 minutes, eight points, nine rebounds, three assists. He had like two blocks, like three steals, uh three for five from the field. Zion, I mean, he’s just showing you he he just just keep him healthy. That’s all you can really say about Zion at this point. Just keep him healthy. Like, we know what Zion can do. It’s it’s no question when Zion’s on the court, he’s a top 10 NBA player. I’m willing to say that. Top 12. Top 12. He’s top 12. What is the problem is get keeping him on the court. But it’s no point to talk about Zion because we know what Zion brings. We know what Zion is. I mean, like I said, eight points, nine rebounds in 15 minutes. Goddamn. He probably would have had a triple double, too, cuz he was slaying at balls. A lot of point Zion last night. A lot of point Zion. So, you can expect that a lot this year. Let’s keep looking at these guys. Mei played 20 minutes, 10 points, six rebounds, couple blocks, three steals. Mei, he was looking like Matumbbo. Uh Mai Peavey. Look, when I say Mai Peavey, he’s a Willie Green. I already said in the last video, silly Willie Whitten all over him and Sadique Bay are the most silliest Willies guys you will ever see. Mai Peavey is going to be in his rotate. Mai Peavey is going to be good. Good. He’s going to be good. And when I say Mai Peavey, I’m not calling him Mai Peavey no more. I’m calling him Pitbull. It’s Pitbull Peavey. So when I say Pitbull, look, when I say Pitbull, this is my nickname for Mai Peavey. Pitbull Peavey. Cuz that’s what he play like a goddamn dog. Pitbull Peavey. And uh Fierce played the most minutes last night at 23 and 24. But Peavey eight points uh one assists, three rebounds, went two for five from three. Like he was everywhere. He was everywhere. Pit Bull Peavey Hawkins played 20 minutes. He had 14 points. Two for eight from three, six for 13. I don’t like Hawkins handling the ball. I don’t know why why Silly Willie keeps trying to make him a ball handler. Make him that that’s not Hawkins game. They got to stop try letting him handle the rock. This is ridiculous. I don’t know what what is that’s not that’s not going to work. Uh Carlo played well last night. Carlo got a lot of run last night. Went four for six, misses three. I thought he was going to cash that mug, but nine points, four rebounds, two assists. Carlo up and down the court. Nasty of me. But look, he’s the new guys I’m talking about, man. But let’s talk about Mei right now because Mei needs his own little segment. Mei was amazing last night. I don’t know how much longer he’s going to be on the bench, but I kind of like him a little bit better off the bench because it gives you a nice change of pace. Like Looney is one of those guys that’s gonna like put you to sleep. He’s gonna go slow and all this and then boom, Mei come off the bench sprinting up and down the court, jumping out the gym, swatting. I mean, Mei was looking like Matumbo, Alajuan, Man Bowl. Like, he was looking like all these great bigs all in one last night. This dude was everywhere. He was looking like Dwight. I mean, Mei was a absolute terror. Mei was a terror, man. And he had this one move again and it came and bit him. He had he had a great performance. I’m not discrediting Mi anyway, but he had such a great performance and ended up selling on his best play when he hit the up and fake and spun and made the dude jump. Had him hit him with the Elijahan dream shake and he smoked the layup. Mei has $100 moves and 10 cent finishes. Oh, if he can just get one of those to go in, man, he’s so close. So close. for Mei off the bench. I don’t know how much longer, but I love it. He has been playing balls to the wall both games. Mei is looking like a different beast since the summer league. He looking like he took that that summer league uh disaster class and flipped it on his head cuz this brother is playing out his mind. Trying to look what else notes I got to make a note of. The ball movement last night was kiss to the chef. Kiss to the chef. And that’s what they need to play like in in the in the regular season. Forget all this BIS iso ball. CJ McCullum iso ball. Get all that out. Now P his shot selection. Oh, who we going to have to we going to have to live with P’s uh shot selection cuz uh it’s going there’s going to be some nights where he shoots some where you going to be like is are you kidding me? Cuz he shot one last night and I was like my brother in Christ what is going on? But regardless of the fact the ball movement compared to having these isolated guys that need to be iso is this is like I said this is the preseason but but this is just my observation. All right I’m know it knows the preseason. I know what the comp type of competition they playing. I don’t know. But but from my observation is the ball movement, especially the last two, just kiss it to the side, especially last night, looking at fears, just actually going to try and make the extra pass, understanding like, okay, I don’t always have to get a bucket, man. I can impact the game by moving the ball. And him and Pool’s twoman game was, man, Sadique Bay, like I said, a lot of points. Zion, Peavey, uh, I’m trying to see what else I got for you guys. So, I wrap this bad boy up. Um, Fierce is on the way out. He Fear’s first shot was a three, man. And it was just it’s just so much I wish I can give you guys if you didn’t watch the game, but this is just my my plain reaction of it. But man, great performance. Still the preseason. Pelicans have like I think it’s going to be like nine days, a week and a half until they play the next game because they got to come back to America, readjust to the time and all that. And then, you know, they’re going to get back to the swing. So, it’s going to be a little minute till these guys play as good, rest them, put them on ice. Um Herb and Trey should be back by then. We’ll probably get an update on Jose. Maybe even get an update on Jose. It looked It looked kind of scary. He was able to get up and walk it off, but it looked kind of I don’t know. I don’t know what it was last night. But overall, good performance. Came, you saw you went did what you had to do in Australia. Shout out to all the Pelican fans in Australia. Y’all showed out. Y’all gave nothing but energy. Y’all y’all y’all were everything. And I’m happy the team embraced y’all. So, it’s going to be a lifelong Pelican fans in Australia. So, when I go to goddamn Australia, I’m go kick it with some Pelican fans. Yeah, we going to go kick it with some Pelican fans, man. Good eye, Mike and the land down under. But overall, y let me know down in the comments what you guys rocking with. Enjoy your Sunday. Yeah, it’s Sunday, baby. I’m I’m out. I’m working. I’m grinding. It’s basketball season. This what I do. This is what I do for you guys. I’m a grinder. Pause if needed. Anyways, been your host Joy Kitchen. I’m signing out. Peace. [Music]
In a dominant 127-92 blowout over South East Melbourne, Joe Dumarsโ offseason pickups looked like absolute STEALS. Saddiq Bey was electric, Jordan Poole put on a show, and Jeremiah Fears bounced back with a strong performance. Even Yves Missi might be on the verge of a breakout season

Thoughts so far after 2 preseason games ? ๐
Saddiq Bey was ballin, he was on a heater. Hopefully that continues to the regular season
I think he made Hawkins run the Point cause Alvarado got hurt
My-Cuh
Our lack of finishing defensive possession and getting rebounds is alarming. Main thing we need to patch up trade hawk for a big asap
