I’m part of a small group working to organize a Vietnamese Heritage Night with the San Diego Padres.

The Padres have celebrated amazing nights for Filipino, Pacific Islander, Japanese, and Italian communities and it’s time the Vietnamese community gets its moment at Petco Park too!

To make it happen, we need to show that there’s strong community interest.

  1. Can I fill this out without providing a ton of personal information? Like, is it still useful if I leave mostly everything blank/use just my initials?

  3. The way these heritage theme games work, the team contacts a community group representing a particular “heritage”. That group then helps promote the event and directs people to buy the theme game tickets. If the group wants to all sit in a particular section, then they may need to commit minimum number of tickets.

    If there was no Vietnamese theme game, then the padres couldn’t find a Vietnamese-American community group to work with.

  5. There’s no way this happens but a theme game ticket with a Padres-branded conical hats giveaway would be amazing.

  6. Have you tried reaching out to the Padres? I dont think a petition is required. They make the community groups do all the work, but its not like this is impossible without a petition.

  9. They don’t really do much for these heritage nights aside from the themed ball caps. I was randomly at a game that was Irish Heritage night. They played a song from Drop Kick Murphy’s and that was about it. Then they went back to the Mariachi band and voting for which Salsa song to play later in the game. Felt that was pretty disrespectful to those that came for the Irish Heritage night.
