Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars – Game Highlights

What will they have in store for us this year? That story begins to unfold right now as Hints is beaten by Shley at the dawn. And the new season of Jets hockey is underway. Golfed in there by Gabriel Valardi. He and his linemates all had career best seasons points-wise last year. Dlo pressured by Steel who’s on the first line to begin the season. Watch out. Connor through neutral ice. Stepped up on by Hits, but he’ll play that in deep. Back for it. Lfist Honor got over the air. Steel takes off. Good play at the line by Demell to keep it in. Mark Shley to Gabe Valardi shoots right on hangs on for the whistle and pitched on the back hand and out by Stanley. There’s Near Rider. Stanley last year playing a careerhigh in games. Turnover Robertson blocker save. He played 13 games against the Jets with three teams last year. Seven in the regular season and six in the playoffs. She didn’t do much in the regular season, but he picked it up in the postseason. A steel spins with it. The former Duck firstrounder. Good pass to the front. Pa made the save and Ranton and scores on the rebound. Miko Ranton and opens the scoring. Well, that’s how dangerous Miko Ranton and can be. These are plays that are not normally allowed to pass through. So, Flurry up on the second pairing with Neil Pino. That pass gets right through the crease. All eyes follow the puck and then uh oh the big man left all alone as Aiden Flurry loses his stick loses his footing and the damage that Rantin did against the Jets in the four last year. So rented it from Hinson steel at 350. That’s the goal. Robertson hot shot. Big rebound collected by Stanley and Flurry kept that one in. Aiden Flurry knows the one time shot by Ayafalo. Well executed play. There’s a drive block and that’ll flutter wide. Yes, I had said 18 games but of course 13 games uh for Rantin as a sharp angle shot and had to kind of peek past a couple of bodies. He made the save. Connor had a hard time handling that, but it’s fotted out by Valardi who gets it back, brings it over the blue line, stops and takes a look. Valardi out front. Connor couldn’t pull the trigger. There he does. He scores. [Applause] Nine straight season openers with a point for Kyle Connor. We’re tied at one. The ink hasn’t even dried yet on his new 8-year extension for Kyle Connor. And he counters with a beautiful little sauce pass from his best buddy Mark Shipley. Look at that touch. And he doesn’t pull the trigger on the first attempt, but makes sure on the second one. Baron looking for Key. Stars take it back in. Robertson leaves it. Strong play there. And Keep now a shot. They score. And it’s Lungquist from the slot. The trailer, the defenseman, makes it two to one. Credit for his second point in this game. It’s him right there on that far side. Look at the way he holds the puck, fends off the checker, and then makes the play all at the same time. That is brilliant. Big strong man making a really difficult play. Nice pass. Lquist not known for his offense. Goes cross for Logan Stanley. onto the stick of Johnston. He’ll head man that for Tyler Sean shoots. Stopped by Hobson gets to that loose puck. Sean with time throws it back. Lunch shoots and a blocker saved by Hell. End of the season that everything just becomes reactionary. You don’t have to think. It’s a long season. It’s nice to have it underway. And the second period has begun as Valardi will zip that off Connor. It’ll bounce down to steers it for Morrisy. 5 minutes into the second period. 2-1 Stars Connor his pass came right back toward him. He’s looking to get it back if he can. Shley, here’s the he bring it off the iron. What a chance and how he angles this puck. A little chip down low from Kyle Connor. There’s Shley right off of his hip and it’s on his stick off his stick. Little backhand compliment and Polardi rings the bell on the outside of the post. Oh, glorious. Reaching back is Tanner Pearson. Here he comes. Bursting on the left side is Morgan Barrett. An opening for Pearson. Block right in. He got the shot away. Chen takes that pass and direct that one wide and sing gets a friendly bounce. Looking for hits just on side. He is shot sticky by rink wide. And this is well behind Jason Robertson but he knows he just used the angle keeps his feet moving. And Henan to Miko Ratidan looking for his third point of the night. Granted it delays shot stopped by Halach and he made another one but hits and hangs on. Confusion as a decoy net run number 24. There’s good traffic and the way that he spins to the puck. He’s behind whatsoever. It’s just stick to your game plan, trust in it, and try to score a goal the right way to get this thing back to even. Overall, the Jets have won 54% of draws tonight. Not that one. Stars getting the puck back now. Hits. Will he shoot it? That’s off the skate of Nestikov and it hit the stick of Moresy that probably kept it from going out and Bianca is on and they score in front. Robertson scores on the power play and it’s three to one. Turns into a four on two and a half and this is a really good second shot from Jason Robertson. Watch how tight he is in to get that thing up and elevated. Brantin with his third point of this hockey game. He’s been an absolute stud all the way around. A rebound and quickly and that would be on the pad most of the time. Robertson certainly has touch and tight. So back to five skaters aside. Harley on the move. He’ll drop it to Shane. Those re spin sets it up and Sean scores. What a nice goal. Tyler Sean makes it four to one Dallas. Oh boy. Is that fancy from Matt Duchain? This is special. It’s one of those plays that that can’t be taught. Head man and Harley gives it right back. And look at that spin move, head up and a perfectly placed pass to the back door for Sean. Matt Duchain, I talked with him at length this morning. He’s coming off of two one-year contracts. Tyler Sean again. He tried to roof it and Hella stuck still made the save. Johnston as the stars really buzzing now. Harley turns away from Gabriel Valardi. Fist good pass through and a shot by Johnston and he scores and it’s 51 Dallas. Yeah, and this is more of the same. The fourth line on the ice wouldn’t be used to seeing these types of shots. A nice stop up from Thomas Harley, a young defender who can skate. What a talent he is. And he makes a beautiful play out to Wyatt Johnson. And there’s Tyler Sean doing an excellent job. Dallas Stars. Pearson knocks it down now. Maybe something for Morgan Baron. Driving the net. Pearson. Baron. Pearson. He got a piece of it. Folly that one, but Oxford banging the stick. Centering pass. Look how that’s chipped away. And Morgan Baron’s going to get ahead of Steve. Baron trying to get it to the net. Morgan Baron scores. A beauty from Baron. It’s short-handed and it’s five to two out of a cannon. Two short-handed goals last year both came in the same game and look at him get those wheels going. Just as the two penalties expired, he had one more guy to deal with on route to this absolutely beautiful goal. 33 km of steam heading up the ice. Forehand, backhand. Johnston lost a glove. He got it back. Sent through. Shley will grab it. Take it off as Kyle Connor and the race is on. Connor to the net. Shot. Rebound. Scores. [Applause] This is what you need from your game breakers. And Kyle Connor is certainly one of those. They almost had a breakaway earlier. Didn’t didn’t transition into a goal. On the second attempt, Connor much like his first goal in this game, it took two shots to find the back of the net. Two short-handed goals on the same Morsy drags it in. Connor to Dylan Deloley took it, swings it over. What a pass to defense fell. Connor shoots and scores. [Applause] Let those hats fly. It’s a onegoal game. Chel for him specifically. Uh he’s had three different examples in this game alone. He just has a sixth sense. Shley does a no look pass, a little soft, buttery pass in tight. Doesn’t matter what it is. Shley has a way to find Connor. And Shley says he just knows where to go. He knows where to be. Well, he’s done it three different times in this game. Not a pretty game, but an exciting game. Now a three-goal deficit is erased down to just one. And there’s time. 303 remain. He’ll leave it. The pass by Connor. Knocked down by Shley. 8 seconds left. Shley steered it on the stick side of the goal. Veronius is there. Morrisy comes in and Dallas is going to hang on and win it five to four.

  1. Won't be the incredible win streak we had last year to start things off this season, but win streaks will undoubtedly come. These Jets are still on fire. Had they managed to take this one to OT they very likely would have gotten the win.
