K’Andre Miller and Seth Jarvis lead Carolina Hurricanes to 6-3 opening night win
[Music] As play resumes, teams win a draw in the double zone. Chip back and they’ll score. TAre Miller. Let it go. And welcome to Raleigh. Keandre, his first with the Hurricanes. And they’re back up two to one. Miller finding his way through. He scores. A power play goal. Keandre Miller. Oh, he can call Carolina home now. Back for Gostas Bear. Traffic in front. Cost it in front. They score. Oh, Seth Jarvis. Seth on the spot. Takes the feed from Aaho. And it’s 43 Carolina with 243 left in the third. Well, what do you know? The Hurricanes won a hockey game. Hope everybody is well. Welcome to the first regular season Kane’s Corner podcast. I am Adam Gold. We are brought to you by the Aluminum Company of North Carolina. If it is for the exterior of your home, you can find it at the Aluminum Company of North Carolina on Hamlin Road in Durham. And they will be at my house on Monday. Monday stuff getting done. Uh I’m going to bring up uh kind of an old line we have used. You can’t go 82 and 0 without first going 1-0. And the Hurricanes have accomplished 1-0 with a 6-3 win over the New Jersey Devils. For those people who remember back in I think Carolina started either 8 and0 or 9 and0 that one year and we just kept running with the joke. I mean, they’re not going to go 82 and 0, but um on the off chance that you did, you’d have to start one and 0. So, you know, the first box checked. Uh weird game. Very, very strange game. As I said this on the aftermath and I think it bears repeating. If you if I didn’t see the goals and I just watched everything that led to goals and scoring chances and then you told me the final score, I would have gone, “Yeah, that’s about right. Maybe not quite three, but you know, six, maybe more. I don’t know. There were a lot of posts, but um I I would have said, “Yeah, 63 sounds about fair.” And then I watch the goals. Taylor Hall, you know, tip from outside the net ends up a goal. Uh both KA Andre Miller goals. Frankly, I think Jacob Marstrom wants him back. Um the Jarvis goal was legit, right? The uh then the you have the empty net and then the you know 13 seconds left. Taylor Hall Springs uh Eric Robinson in six. Uh, but even the Devils goals, I think Freddy wants the Douggee Hamilton goal back. A, we don’t like Douggee Hamilton scoring, but the uh, I mean, that’s one you probably need to stop. Um, I don’t blame him on the two-on-one goal by Cody Glass. That was an elite shot and frankly, it was probably the best overall play of the night in the game and just because it was a gorgeous pass by Luke Hughes. a broken play. I’m back. Third goal was a broken play in which um Brett Peshy is really under duress and just throws it out in front and Jarvis thought the play was going the other way. Uh and he was behind yes brought and it’s not a good goal to allow because it’s a defensive breakdown. Uh and you don’t want your top guys breaking down defensively. Uh but that’s what happened and Carolina all of a sudden it’s a three-3 hockey game and there’s eight minutes to go. But Carolina just kept going and you get the uh the Jarvis power play goal. Not that that was not a power play goal. The Miller goal was a power play goal. The Jarvis goal. Great play uh from a lot of different players and we’ll talk about it. You get the uh the empty net goal then the Robinson goal uh for the final margin. So again, if you had told me if I didn’t see the goals 6-3 to me is about fair, but the goals are kind of dumb. Uh, and if uh I don’t know, if you had Jacob Marshmro on your fantasy team, you’re probably not happy uh with Jacob Marstrom because frankly, two of those goals probably can’t go. Uh, but you can say the same thing about Freddy Anderson with one of the goals that probably should not go. All right, let’s get to uh some things about the game and we will of course uh try to say hi to as many people as possible. Uh, and I’ll try to go through quickly so I can have some more time uh to kind of go through the uh the comments. Um, and man, it’s just great to be back, isn’t it? It’s great to have hockey that means something. The preseason is the preeason. Uh, but it’s great to have these these games that really really do matter. Uh, all right, let’s talk about the new guys first. We’ll start with uh Keandre Miller, who I thought was excellent in his debut tonight. Um, and I thought Rod Brydeore talked about it after the game. loved everything about Kandre Miller. I turned to I forget I was sitting here uh on press row. Uh but I mentioned about halfway through the first period I just went, “Oh, we’re going to like watching Miller play. The size, the reach, the speed. He can play a physical game. So many good things about everything we saw from KARE Miller tonight. Uh the two goals I mean are not how you draw them up. The first goal will carry a really f find finds a loose puck and just taps it not even with any kind of pace over to Miller if he doesn’t have as I said uh on um I think it was the aftermath. If he doesn’t have a reach like the size of Nebraska, he doesn’t get to that puck. and he didn’t really do anything other than just kind of slap it towards the goal and it bounced and somehow goes through Marstrom. And the power play goal is one that Marstrom’s got a glove. I mean, it hits him in the like the heel of the glove, bounces off his arm, and goes in. Hey, we’ll take it. And as I said uh on Twitter, it’s a good thing Freddy Anderson didn’t give up a goal like that because we would lose our minds justifiably so. Um but I thought Miller was excellent. I thought Nick Heers for not getting on the score sheet probably can’t play a better game. I thought he he helped create a whole bunch of really good chances for that top line. So, uh, I got no quarrels with Nick Eer’s, uh, initial foray into the Hurricanes. I did say before the game, it would be great regardless of what happened tonight one of the best things you might want to see is Eer score or Svetchnikov score because you’d love to see those two guys get off to good starts. But I thought both played well and maybe that’s as important as anything that they just played impactful games. Uh, Eer’s very good. Uh, can I just bring up and I guess we could we could have talked about this later. He only played about 15 and a half minutes, but I really liked Alexander Nikeshan tonight. One of the best signs going forward will be, and look, Rod Brymore is going to protect him as much as he can. They’ll limit ice time, especially in the third period. But I it was not lost upon me at all that he was instrumental in two goals for Carolina. The first goal, we’ll explain how. And the uh the goal that the Seth Jarvis goal that made it 4-3. He was a plus three tonight. Nikian also had three hits, one shot on goal. I want to see a few more of those. I mean, he’s got a great shot. I want to see him use it. He only played 1534. real quick on the first goal which Eric Robinson doesn’t get an assist but there is no goal without Eric Robinson yes coin didn’t win the faceoff but Robinson got to the puck and he passed it back to Nikesian who made a perfect pass to Shane Gostas Bear who got the shot on well I don’t know if it was on net or not looked like it was probably wide of the net but Taylor Hall deflected it between the legs of Marstrom four one- nothing. But Nikesha, that’s a perfect pass to Goss Bear. If it isn’t a perfect pass, uh then you don’t know what happens after that. But it was a great pass to Nika. I really I liked so much of what I saw uh from the 24 year old kid uh tonight. And then on the goal that made it 4-3, the Jarvis goal, it’s Nikeshian that comes into the middle of the ice, gets the gloves the puck down, settles it, and then rather than do something crazy, he simply sees Aaho in the corner. He skates it towards Aaho, gives him the puck, and then cycles back up top. Gostas Bear eventually gets that puck. He finds Aaho uh near the uh basically on the half wall. AO sees Jarvis in front and it is Gostas Bear to Aaho to Jarvis. 4-3 Carolina. I think it was 243 remaining in the game. Uh but Nikeshan makes good plays on both of those goals, the first one and the uh the gamewinner from Jarvis. Really good game from him tonight. Uh and then he’s not a new guy, but he’s in a new position. So, let’s talk about Logan Stanovven, who I thought had a great start in the faceoff circle. Didn’t uh end up a great night on the on the dot, but it wasn’t a terrible night. He won four out of his first six and then only won two of his last seven, but he was good tonight. And I thought that line, my gosh, that line is going to be really, really good. I think the one of the plays that stood out to me in the game was um Blake making a pass to Stanovven. It either hopped his stick or maybe it was deflected. Uh well, it couldn’t have been deflected because it went for icing. Carolina with 15 seconds left in the period have Stankovven, Blake, and Fetchnikov on the ice. Theoretically, not a great defensive line, right? Uh not that Blake and Stanovven can’t play well defensively. They can, but Andre is not known to be a great defender. They were on the ice on the icing and as soon as that happened with 15 seconds left. Uh Sheldon Keefe sends out Nico Heir on a faceoff circle. Jack Hughes on the right side, Jper Brat on the left with I believe it was Hamilton and Luke Hughes. So Keith is loading up the offensive zone. Stanovven does not win that draw and it gets back to the point and then it gets cycled low and Jackson Blake makes a defensive play on Brat takes the puck away and Carolina gets out of dodge. That could have been a a very difficult circumstance because it was an unfortunate icing that gave New Jersey an opportunity with their best offensive players on the ice late late in the period. But Blake makes a dynamite play. I love that line all night long. I think we’re going to love watching that line. Uh I think Andre is going to have a great time playing with Jackson Blake. I really do. If you can’t play with Jackson Blake that you don’t like hockey, that kid always ends up with the puck. I know. Last year was a broken record. I kept saying it. I kept saying it. Kept saying it. And I think by the end of the year, we all realized, my gosh, he always comes away with the puck. How does he do that? Um, I thought he was very good tonight and it was uh to me that line was super noticeable. Uh, before we talk about the uh the old guys, uh, Vero Beach checking in, California checking in. Greenville, North Carolina, Charlotte, let’s go Canes, of course. Outer Banks. Yeah, I think Miller’s going to fit in just fine. You ain’t alone. Uh let’s see where uh where we are. Jordan Stall washed watch. Jordan Stall was that line was good tonight. Didn’t play a lot uh tonight. I think uh I think Rod decided he wanted to see Stanovven, Blake and uh Svetchnikov because hey, look, if uh if Stankovven and Blake are just going to keep getting the puck back, uh you might as well leave them on the ice. Uh Sumpter South Carolina. Of course, Sumpter, South Carolina were huge in Sumpter. Uh the and I thought Keandre Miller was Sumpter else. I mean, I should really leave at that point. Uh let’s see. From a plane. Haley’s on a plane. How could you be listen? I mean, I guess there’s internet on the plane. You can you can certainly check in from a plane. Uh from France, uh Bejamin I don’t know how to say it if you’re in France. Uh let’s see. Uh Stephen says Miller is a great fit for the team. Yeah, he is. Uh Adelaide via Charlotte. There you go. We’re big in Adelaide. We know that Pickle Town, North Oh, Mount Olive. Ah, very good. I love uh I love pickles. There we go. Uh High Point, Chicago, Illinois. Shouts to you. Uh John loves Keandre. Everybody loves KA Miller. Uh, New Jersey needs to sign the goalpost to an 8-year deal. My gosh, I had five, I mean, ringing post last night. Five or tonight. Five ringing post. Gastonia in the house. Uh, Washington, North Carolina. We had uh tons tons of stuff. Greensbor, Atlanta, platform 9 and 3/4. Very good. Very good. Uh I believe the uh the Post tried to put a Confundus charm on the Carolina Hurricanes. We’ll uh uh Fernandina Beach, Florida. We might as well just finish this. Eugene, Oregon, Elon, Atlantic Beach. Southern Maine. Love Southern Maine. Uh let’s see. Okinawa, thank you very much, Tyler. Uh, and Fort Worth visiting Raleigh. Uh, thank you for your service, Nance. Uh, let’s see. Climate Pledge Arena. Talia watching the Kraken and listening to the Kane’s Corner podcast. Lynwood, Washington. Uh, and Talia. Oh, that’s right. Our friend Talia. Uh, we have emailed before. Uh, nice to see you at Climate Pledge. Uh, Longleaf Pine IPA checking in. He’s uh I think Will is right like halfway through the bottle uh right about now. All right, I want to talk about the old guys. Let me get to the old guys. Uh and I don’t mean old guys. I mean Seth Jarvis. I mean Sebastian Aaho and the fourth line which has one old guy. Um Jarvis Ao are great tonight. Um we we demand so much from those two guys. AO gets rather Jarvis gets the two goals, but man, they both could have had more. The um I got a little frustrated with Aaho in the first period because I thought he held on he he he didn’t hold on to the puck long enough. I think Sebastian needs to trust himself a little bit more to make plays sometimes hold the puck a little bit longer. And I realize that this sounds like I’m talking out of both sides of my mouth because at times, especially in oddman chances, Aaho will hold the puck too long and then make a pass that isn’t there. And I think sometimes my only problem with Aaho is that he doesn’t present himself as a shooter enough. It’s not that he looks to pass. I got no problem with Aaho passing. But if you if you cannot be taken seriously as a shooter, then the pass almost doesn’t matter because everybody’s going to play the pass. The goalie is going to be anticipating the pass. The defender is going to make be anticipating the pass. And then you’re out of luck. A shoot a short-handed situation in the second period. I think it was the second period. Yeah, second period. And Aaho looks to pass but holds the puck and then does a little tow drag, gets to the middle of the ice, beats Marstrom clean, but it rings off the post. I mean, a lot of people thought it was a goal. It hit so square on the post that it didn’t even make a metallic sound. It like I think Mike even said, “Did that hit the back bar?” It was a great shot. The post just kept it out. Uh, but I thought AO was a creative player tonight. I thought he was noticeable. He was excellent defensively. Uh, 12 out of 16 in the faceoff circle, played 2139. I loved Sebastian AO’s game tonight. And obviously, you love Seth Jarvis’s game. He hit two posts uh in the in the game, including the inside of the left post before he ever scored a goal. Jarvis did score the goal that made it 4-3. Then he scores the empty net goal. Somebody had to score. Somebody was going to score after all the post Carolina hit. I counted five. I think I heard Mike say seven. I have no idea. Jarvis two, Aaho one. slave one Taylor Hall right after the goal that Miller scored to make it 3-2 the power play goal on the ensuing shift Hall in tight beats Marstrom but it goes off the inside of the post I was just absolutely crazy that Carolina didn’t score more goals than that but I mean that’s what happens uh the post is uh is hard and it’s found and sometimes uh it just uh just doesn’t go in. Uh John is in Washington DC. Yes, the uh the the the camera did freeze at one point. Uh but we came back and uh Patrick, do you Patrick wants to know my celebratory Goodberries order? I’m not going to give it to you because I don’t want to disparrage uh anybody or anything. Um let me get to the fourth line. I thought the fourth line was outstanding in the first period. Didn’t play a ton. Played I think about four minutes of the first period. I thought Kok and Emmy was really good in the first period. I thought he had the play where he uh kind of uh dragged the puck to the middle. Uh and it was to that point it was, you know, Marstrom’s best save uh to deny the goal. I think it was already one- nothing Carolina at the time. I loved that line’s first period. Um, and I thought Eric Robinson was exceptional throughout the game. Didn’t play a ton. That whole line did not play a lot. Um, here’s what I want because I thought Coke and Ammy was really good in the first period. He’s just terrible in the faceoff circle. And I think may have gone a long way into why Rod Brymore limited that line as a trio uh for the uh for the balance of the game. Um, but here’s what I want from Coke and Emmy. Listen to what Taylor Hall said after the game about knowing your role, understanding, you know, what is expected, what is asked of you. And I promise you this, the more you play well, the more the head coach will trust you. He wants to he wants to have balanced lines in terms of time on ice. There are going to be games where he’s going to need Aaho, Jarvis, Eers, Stanovven, Blake, Svveetchnikov to play 20 or more minutes. Going to be games where Rod’s going to need that. You know, Hurricanes tight game and this was a tight game. Remember, it was 33 until late, but the preference would be to really balance the ice time out. And the only way that’s going to happen is if Koki and company play like they played in the first period, also in the second. And again, tight game. Rod is going to lean on the best players, his top guys, because that’s what we want, right? When when we watch Colorado or Edmonton play, and I’m not suggesting that Aaho and Jarvis are the equivalent of McKinnon and McDavid, but when we watch those teams play at the end of the game, we look at the ice time and go, “Look at that. McDavid played 25 minutes. McKinnon played 2650.” And it’s rare that we see Carolina’s best forwards play more than 20 really more than 21 minutes a night, but maybe Aaho and Jarvis uh and Eers maybe they need to and that’s okay. So that that time’s going to come from somewhere. So if you’re Yes. Perry Coke and Emmy and Taylor Hall and Eric Robinson when you get shifts you make the most of them. You stack enough shifts like that together and the head coach will use you more. And I’m not really I’m not criticizing anybody here. I’m just saying I think the game kind of played this way. So it really it worked against Koke and Emmy in terms of um ice time and Carolina had uh backto-back power plays in the third period. Still don’t know how it wasn’t delay of game puck over glass. How is that not a dogpog on Luke Glendenning? I mean, he just sailed the puck from the defensive zone while short-handed into the seats at the other end of the rink. No clue. Rod Bernmore just laughed about it after the game. When you win the game, you can laugh about those things. But I love the fourth line early. So, when you get it, you get the ice time, make the most of it. I think you end up getting more. Uh, even though I’ve talked mostly about their partners. Actually, I didn’t even talk about Jacob Slavven, uh, who was putting on a stick work master class in the first period. Um, it was a minus one tonight. Shawn Walker was a minus3 at one point, ended up at minus two. But I thought Gost Despair and Chadfield both played really, really well. And I think the the pair of Gost Despair and Nikeshan is going to be good. I have no problem with Gastair on his off side and I think Nikeshan his reputation precedes him. I think there were situations tonight where Devils were looking for him because they knew that he would deliver shots like to see that. I thought he was really good tonight and I thought Gost Despair uh gives him a veteran who can play his offside. Uh, and I think Gostas Bear will probably play a little bit more cautiously to allow Nikeshan to kind of explore some of his offensive side and that’s good. That’s good. You want this kid to be aggressive offensively. I’d like to see him use his shot a little bit more, but I thought he was good. And I think Gostas Bear was a big reason why Nikeshan was good. and Chatfield. I think you can tell Chatfield and Miller will be if that’s going to ultimately be the pair. I’m not sure it will down the road, but for now, Miller and Chatfield, yeah, that’s going to be fun to watch. I mean, I think both players have a little bit of offensive side to their game. I’d love to see more. Uh, obviously, Miller scored two goals tonight. He is running the second power play unit. He’s got Shawn Walker with him, but Walker in that is in more of a shooters role than a, you know, like dual guys at the blue line. But man, Miller and Chafffield are going to be fun. I do think down the road we’ll see Miller play with Slavven. Mil Slavven probably on his off side and Chatfield shephering Nikes. But for now and probably maybe the first three or four months of the year, I think you’re going to see Nikeshan playing around 17, maybe 18 minutes a game. He’s clearly going to be uh the sixth defenseman. Gostas Bear played over 20 minutes tonight. And in the third period, Rod was kind of mixing and matching a little bit on the blue line. Not that he went down to five. He just he just kept he just skipped over Nikeshan every now and then. And his ice time was about uh 15 and a half minutes for the night. Um let’s uh let’s close on uh well two quick things. First, the power play, which one out of four. So the percentage is fine. You’ll be happy if you go one out of four every night. I thought was really good. First one was so short doesn’t even count. Penalty kill only had really had to kill one penalty. So that also doesn’t really count. Although I mean that one did. Uh and Carolina had the two best scoring chances on that on that power play. Uh with Aaho and then Martinook right after that after Aaho at the post. Um, I think, you know, New Jersey didn’t get the puck into the Carolina zone and all of a sudden Martinook’s got a breakaway and that was probably Jacob Marshham’s best save. Got the glove to the Martinook uh attempt, but Carolina’s power play was really deceptively good tonight. So, keep that going. The only downside to the game for me was Carolina got a little sloppy and I didn’t like the first goal that Hamilton scored, but I thought Freddy made a bunch of good saves, too. Uh the save on Donov or Datonov, however you we’re pronouncing his name now. Uh Danov, I think. Um that save in the first period. I mean, Datanov’s a goal scorer, man. That’s a goal. Should be a goal. Freddy said, “No, not not a goal.” And I know people are ready. They’re ready to be done with Freddy until it’s proven that he can’t be the guy when healthy. I just think that Carolina’s goalending is as good as Vegas’s goalending is as good as Colorado’s goalending. Look, last I checked before last year. McKenzie Blackwood was essentially a backup goalender. He played in San Jose cuz he had to. Somebody has to. And he got he had got a great start to the season. Colorado was upset with their own goalending. So they shipped was it uh Gorgiev, whoever was playing goal for uh for Colorado. They just swapped goalies. and McKenzie Blackwood just played really well, but ultimately he was a backup goalie where in New Jersey, right? He was a backup. So, I don’t know how great he is. But I know this when Freddy’s, Freddy’s fine. I got no problem with Freddy. Now, I didn’t think he was particularly great tonight, but it’s early and he only played he played two preseason games and he even played the full game in uh in either one. Uh but I thought Freddy made some really good saves. He got uh Jack Hughes once uh the save on uh Datonov uh in the first period was excellent. So, uh, I thought, uh, I thought a a decent enough start to the season for Frederick Anderson. That pretty much does it. It’s just good to be back, wasn’t it? It just good to be back. Just good to watch uh, the Hurricanes uh, play a hockey game. I think we’re going to love that uh, that second line, that Stankovven line. And I thought uh I didn’t think he was overwhelmed, overmatched uh in the middle of the rink. Uh but we’ll be, you know, watching for matchups and when they go on the road uh when Stanovven is asked to deal with like when they get to uh LA and they send the what you know the Copitar or the Biffield line uh at them. What what a physical mismatch that will be with 65 Quinton Biffield uh going at the something less than 65 Logan Stanovven. Um but you know on the road it’ll be we’ll see what the challenge is because I think that’s always going to tell us what we can expect out of Stankovven as a center the rest of the way. But that line was excellent. AO and Jarvis. I mean, I’m not going to go they took over the game, but I thought they were good throughout. I did. Um, and we got a glimpse of just the beginning of how good KA Andre Miller could be here. So, great start to the season. It’s good to be back. It’s good to have you here. Hey, Clayton. Very good. Um, it was fun fun game. I appreciate all of you. Uh, we’re brought to you by the Aluminum Company of North Carolina. If it is for the exterior of your home, you can find it at the Aluminum Company of North Carolina on Hamlin Road in Durham. No place like it. Sammy Hanner Screw do a great job. We will see everybody Saturday. Canes and the Flyers. Little bit earlier start. We’re back to normal on FanDuel. Mike and uh Trip will be on the TV and uh I’ll get my uh I’ll get the whole booth to myself. See everybody on uh Saturday. I am Adam Gold. Be well and you can’t go one and you can’t go 82 and0 without first going 1 and0. Good night.
K’Andre Miller and Seth Jarvis each scored twice as the Canes beat the Devils 6-3 on opening night in Raleigh. The new guys played well. The “old” guys did, too, as Sebastian Aho led the way in the 3rd period. Miller was noticeably good all night long and gave fans a glimpse of how he could thrive playing here. Equally important was the way Alexander Nikishin played while paired with Shayne Gostisbehere. It was also a good night for the Jesperi Kotkaniemi line as the Hurricanes used their depth to beat New Jersey. Oh, and there were at least five ringing posts. So many posts.

Enjoyable game Miller and Nikishin were very pleasing
Great start to the season! Boys were absolutely buzzing. Ehlers and Miller look like great additions. Taylor Hall and Ghost will be our X factors this year. Let’s go Canes❤
Enjoyed the entire game! Great final score! Closer than the final 2 1/2 minutes played out.
Happy for Miller. He got thoroughly trashed by the Rangers fan base and press. He might have found his dream home in Carolina.
Some missed defensive assignments but that'll get cleaned up. We looked more creative. Passing was much better. Miller is looking like he's going to be everything we hoped for. Ehlers can freaking play. That man can find the open skaters.
I am glad to say this on two fronts. I was wrong! Ehlers looked good on the top line. And the third pair did not look that bad as I was worried about!
That second pair of Chatfield/Miller are going to be awesome. First period was sketchy but as they got more reps they started really clicking! Chatty is going to explode this year. Miller looked very comfortable with the system and good on the PP and PK.
Ghost looked good. Yes I said it. Nikishin looked a lot more comfortable as well. The skating of that D-core is amazing! This is coming from a power skating coach. So yes I really liked what I saw!!! Slavin and walker are going to be great.
As someone who watches all games including the west coast teams, I had my doubts on how he would fit. To be honest last night was one of his best games I have ever seen him play without scoring.
Aho looks like he has jump to start the season that we have not seen in the past as he is usually a slow starter. Jarvis built a game as he went.
The second line looks very good but Stanker is less dynamic at center.
4th line that really should be the 3rd line was great. Hall KK Robinson looked dangerous all night while being good defensively. THIS IS A TRUE THIRD LINE!!!!! Something the Canes have not has in a long time. They have had 2 4th lines. 4A and 4B.
Cons-
I didn't love Stankhoven at center. Sorry but he is much less dynamic at center as we have seen him on the wing. I said this during preseason when they were playing AHLers. Now I did like Blake and Svech and the line as a whole.
The Staal line………… Very slow. THIS IS YOUR FOURTH LINE!!!!!! Marty and Carrier were great but Staal looked old and slow! However this is normal for him to start the season.
Overall a very good first game of the season. Very fast pace. NOT BORRING!!!!
Some of the KK faceoff losses were by design. I have seen them doing this at camp. Robinson explodes anticipating the loss. One one of those you can see KK actually push the opposing centers stick and puck forward. It may have been on the first goal. Crosby and Malkin have been doing this for years.
Someone please take the reins off of Chatty!!! When he gets the puck and starts racing up the ice it is beautiful!!! But then he pulls himself in and passes the puck. When he starts he gives me flashbacks of Brian Leetch in his prime!!!! I know it's defense first but let Chatty fly!!!!
LFG !!
Yeah, to be honest the first Miller goal looked like he was just pushing it to the front of the net and it trickled through. Didnt look like a shot.
