🚨49ers Get A Bunch Of Breaking News Before Playing Buccaneers In Week 6 + John Lynch Talks Trade

[Music] All right, we’re off and running. This is the San Francisco 49ers report. Chase Senior here with you. Here’s everything that’s coming up on the 49ers report rundown. We have a lot of breaking injury news to touch on. John Lynch was on the radio this morning and talked about a potential trade for a pass rusher. I’m also going to go through some keys to a Niners victory against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. A battle between two 4-1 teams in Tampa. Two of the top teams in the NFC and one of the best matchups here in week six. Before we get to all of that, I want to say thank you to the faithful for your continued support of everything that I do here on the 49ers Report. We just surpassed 176,000 subscribers. If you want informative, entertaining, insightful Niners coverage coming your way every single day year round talking all things Niners, join the movement. Hit that subscribe button right now. Let’s begin here with the latest on quarterback Brock Pury. Going to be a long shot for him to play against the Buccaneers. A stunner. Yeah, not really. That’s a sarcastic note that I have on your screen here, but the Niners just got off the practice field in Santa Clara and he was doing some work on the side field. looked to be in good spirits and obviously that’s a good sign that he was moving around on a side field doing some agility drills because he does have that turf toe injury and so he was working on his lower half and his conditioning. If he was immobile that wouldn’t be the case of course Kyle Shanahan also said yesterday that Pertie is progressing with his turf toe injury and it’s not to a point where he’s expected to go on injured reserve. That would be the worst case possible and the worst case scenario because that would mean that Perie would be out at least for four games. That’s the minimum amount of games that you have to miss if you have an Igar stint. So I would imagine pretty comes back at some point over the next couple of weeks. You play the Buccaneers on the road this week. Then you welcome the Falcons as they have a short week to Santa Clara Levi Stadium for a Sunday Night Football matchup. Perie this year one and one as a starter. He’s only made two starts here going into week six. 48 to 73 on his completions and attempts. He’s thrown for 586 yards, four touchdowns, four picks. And obviously the interceptions have been a problem for him the last two years. Over his last 20 starts, he has around 19 interceptions. Not a sustainable way to play football. I know I’ve used that term a lot, but it really is important. You just don’t win many games when you turn the ball over and you cough it up. his quarterback rating this year an 85.8. He can play better, but we’ve certainly seen some good stretches and some good throws from Perie. So, without him against Tampa Bay, that leaves M. Jones to start on Sunday against the Buccaneers, right? One of the premier matchups on the NFL week six slate. Yeah, but as we know, M. Jones is very banged up. He’s dealing with a PCL injury in his knee that leads to a lot of instability, which is why he’s been wearing that big bulky knee brace. At practice today, just like he has all week, limited participant, he had shoulder pads and a helmet on, but he but he wasn’t doing much. And he wasn’t doing any throwing. Now, why is that with this game a few days away as we record this show on Thursday, October 9th? Because he’s also dealing with an oblique injury. And anytime a quarterback is dealing with an oblique or an ailment to their midsection, given the torque that you need to throw the football, that’s of course not ideal. But on the plus side, Lynch did say this morning on the radio that the Ners do feel good about his chances to play. If he can’t play, it’s Adrien Martinez going up against a Todd Bulls defense, which blitzes a lot. What a story Mack has been this year. He’s really revived and resurrected his career. Kyle Shanahan has him playing like a Pro Bowl quarterback. He’s gone a perfect 3-0 without Brock Pury playing and he’s put up massive numbers, 86 of 129 on his completions, two attempts. He’s thrown for an average of more than 300 yards per ball game, 95 yards on the season in those three starts. The touchdown interception ratio really good. He’s been making really good decisions with the football. Six Ties, one pick. His yards per game, as I noted, 301.7 and a quarterback rating of 99.1. What a move by John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan to bring him back. And you see why Shanahan really liked him in the pre-draft process in 2021 when the Niners elected to go with Tre Lance and not M. Jones. now how Mack can succeed against the Buccaneers. It might be a skeleton crew again on the offensive side of the football. But I think what we’ve seen this year is Kyle Shanahan probably have one of the best stretches of his coaching career. Given how the Niners are 4- one, they’re 3-0 in road games, 3-0 inside the NFC West, so many players are out, yet they’re still vying to maybe be the number one seed in the NFC. And Shanahan has M. Jones a backup playing like this after the Patriots and Jags left him for dead. Now Ricky Piol is not going to play in this game. Jawan Jennings trending in a good direction but George KD is not going to return. And so Mack might be throwing to a lot of secondary and third options. But throughout training camp and in the preseason when he had to practice with the twos and threes, we’ve seen that translate and that help him out because he has some familiarity with those players. and going back to his days with the New England Patriots. Him and Kendrick Bourne really had that connection. Todd BS who calls the defensive plays as a head coach for the Buccaneers blitzes a ton. They are top five, top six in pressure and blitz rate this season. And so it’s going to be paramount for San Francisco and M. Jones to get rid of the ball quickly behind a bad offensive line to negate that pass rush. And it might be tough to run the football again for the NerS because the Buccaneers have one of the best rushing defenses in the NFL. They’re giving up 3.8 yards per rush. That ranks sixth in the NFL. And as far as rushing yards per game goes, 92.4. That ranks number eight. And this Ner’s rushing attack this year has been bad against the Rams. They averaged under three yards per carry. And Christian McCaffrey has hovered around three yards per carry all year. And it seems as though as soon as he gets the ball and is handed the rock, he’s met immediately by defenders. And so the game plan that we saw against the Rams, who also have a really good defensive line and will up the pressure at times, I think should be the game plan against Tampa Bay. A lot of short throws, quick decisions, throws underneath, and by design getting rid of the ball fast so that this Buccaneers blitz cannot get home. And against the Rams, I thought Mack and Shanahan were terrific against that Rams defense. As for George KD, he is not going to play against the Buccaneers. There was some hope that because his IR stint, the minimum of four games that he has to miss, is over, but that hamstring isn’t ready for him to be ready for game action. He could practice next week to play on Sunday Night Football against the Atlanta Falcons, but that is still up in the air. Unfortunately for Ricky Pearl, who’s been one of the top wide receivers in football this year, highly unlikely he plays. He injured his knee a couple of weeks ago against Jacksonville. He had a knee issue going into that game along the sideline. He tried to get his feet down. He fell hard on that knee. He felt some instability. And Kyle Shanahan said he hasn’t progressed the way that the Niners had hoped. And that’s unfortunate because obviously Piol has been injuryprone to start his career. I’m not talking about the gunshot. Obviously that’s unfair. But before his rookie season took place, hamstring injury, shoulder injury, and then to start camp, he wasn’t ready because of a hamstring injury. Didn’t partake in mandatory mini camp, hamstring injury. Now he has a knee. That’s been the knock on him. But this year, if he can stay healthy, what a career he could end up having for the Niners, what a first round pick he could end up being for the Niners if he can stay upright and on the field. because this year 16th in the National Football League in receiving yards and that’s without playing. Last week of course 29 targets, 20 catches. A bulk of those have gone for first downs, 327 receiving yards and a fantastic 16.4 yards per reception. Jawan Jennings today did return to practice. It feels like he’s just banged up from head to toe, but the Niners listing him with ankle and rib injuries. And then Alfred Collins with a knee sprain. Obviously, he had that game- saving play against the Rams two Thursdays ago. He was wearing a knee brace, has a knee sprain. A good sign that he returned to the practice field today. We’ll see if he can play against Tampa Bay. Obviously, him and the other rookies on defense have helped this defensive turnaround spark and take place. And that fumble forced against Kairen Williams. What a veteran type of play. What a huge play in that game. This guy is massive. I mean, he wears size 17 shoes and has a seven foot wingspan. And you saw it on the peanut punch on Kirn Williams. And you just want to see these young rookies continue to get snaps under their belt, continue to get experience because that thus then leads to more growth for these young players. All right, let’s get to this topic because obviously it’s been a popular one for us to talk about and for Niner fans to discuss and for John Lynch to talk about because the Niners are 4 in one. very exciting team, but clearly they have a hole. Will the Niners improve their pass rush with a big trade? It’s been a big topic of conversation around this football team given that the Niners are 4-1 and they’ve impressed a lot of people and I think they’ve surprised a lot of people with how they’ve started this year. John Lynch, who pulls the trigger on these moves, seems open to making a deal to bring in a pass rusher, whether it be an edge, whether it be a defensive tackle. He was on the radio this morning and he said, quote, “We’ll see. I’m having a lot of conversations, a lot of good and productive ones.” Now, the Niners are off to a productive start at 4-1. Big game coming up on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The turnaround that we’ve seen year-over-year with this defense led by Robert Salah really has been incredible to watch. the development of these young players has really made this hybrid rebuild arrive a little bit earlier and it’s on the fast track, right? But the NerS do have to make a move for a pass rusher in my opinion because it’s not a sustainable way to play football if you can’t generate pressure on the quarterback. Now, of course, the Niners do have to balance a few things here if they want to make a trade to improve their pass rush and get a defensive lineman or multiple defensive linemen at the NFL trade deadline after week nine. The Niners here, and Kyle Shanahan talked about this on Wednesday, do not want to jeopardize and give up valuable draft picks for the future because they’re still building for the future. They’ve just arrived a little bit earlier and they’re playing better as a defense sooner than a lot of people anticipated. The Niners also ate a bunch of dead money this year and they’re eating some dead money for the future as well. And so the NerS are very much being cap savvy and cap understanding. They don’t want to make a move for a player who occupies a bunch of space on the salary cap that’s only going to be a rental this year and impacts them and hinders them for the future as they look to continue this build. And so the Niners, I don’t think, want to make a move for 2025 for a short-term rental that impacts what San Francisco’s vision is. But with and without Nick Bosa, this defense has been a completely different unit. Weeks 1 to3, they went 3-0 in games that Bosa started. They gave up 265.7 yards per game. They sacked the quarterback on average, 1.7 times per ball game. Their pressure percentage was 34.6% and they only gave up 16.3 points per game. In the two games without Nick Bosa, they are 1 and one. The yards per game have gone up from 265.7 to 390.5. The sacks per game has been slashed from 1.7 to a half sack per ball game. Their pressure rate has been cut in half from 34.5% to 17.5% and the points per game allowed has gone up by more than a touchdown. That goes to show you right there that the NerS might be able to survive in the short term but not over the long term. And if they want to compete in the NFC and get this young team valuable playoff experience and have a shot to make a statement this season, they need to make a move or moves because that defensive dip off without Nick Bosa not sustainable. 1. 49ers can screen pass and hit reads, the Bucs are susceptible; McVaffrey and Bourne will do the same as the Rams.

It’ll be tough but we’ll get our first interception and a fumble or another interception that’ll get the win.

Every team has lite up the Bucs secondary; as the scores prove it. Falcons 20 points; Texans 19; Jets 27; Eagles 31; Seattle 35.

These guys with our best up offense, expect big hands for CMC, Tonges and Bourne. If we take care of the ball, meaning no turnovers, we’ll win, mark me.

  2. Does anyone remember draft day when everyone was slurping Mykel Williams being the ultimate edge setter and most pro ready on the other side of Bosa? I think he has 10 tackles, a possible pressure and ZERO sacks.
Solomon Thomas anyone? Javon Kinlaw anyone? Trade Deforest Buckner, don't sign Arik Armstead, sign Chase Young, Javon Hargrave, Randy Gregory… there's a few more defensive lineman that were later round picks to name… Does anyone else think John Lynch isn't much on evaluating defense lineman?

  3. We're going to get the shit kicked out of us, to many injuries! These guys are lucky there not playing in the 70's,80's or 90's they would all be in the hospital or under ground.

  4. Thank you Chase. Keeping it real is the best way to get it out. We are still banged up and up against the wall. Our best team is the defense and if they can keep the scoring down anything can happen. Ask the Rams.

  5. In the West Coast Offense, a 5 yard pass is like a 5 yard run that's our running game sad but true. That's why next off-season, the 49ers really need pay attention to some Colleges that likes to run the football Iike Alabama, Iowa, Wisconsin, maybe LSU they produce good offensive lineman.

  6. Hey Chase, I think you're an awesome person and I'm a huge 49er fan and if there's any news of other 49ers I always come to you first, but there's nothing here about breaking news, you don't need to do that, You're totally natural clickbait, it has a 49er fan it's bad enough we have injuries so every time I see breaking news I always think the worst

  7. To be fair it's not tough for the niners to run it bc tampa is that elite, it's tough bc our oline is straight buns outside of the returning pro bowler Trent Williams. And he's 37. We can't run against anyone not just Tampa lol

  8. If Purdy is confident about about his position he's dumb. I read like Broke. BUT since the first year he came in for Garappolo and the following year including the Super bowl appearance, he has not got better but got worse. He is so so these are years that elete QBs get better and work on there game. But he hasn't done this, he's done the opposite. He also is a bit injury prone . So now Max Jones has had to come in because a🎉nother injury has hot brock Purdy. This time it's his toe. It's almost the same story that is true about are QBs. We haven't had a freaking franchise QB since Steve Young. The best ones I feel were Alex Smith, Kapernick, Jimmy.
But it never fails after a little success something always comes up. Injury, etc.
My point is while he is.nursing a toe, Mac has came in and so far more of a QB then are starter. purdy now that he is paid like a NFL player he is trying to do to dam much and trying to be a lot like Allen. He lost the Brock Purdy that came in first. Welhen he came in fighting for a job and was making under a million bucks but was already in talk for MVP that was him. He lost that.
Max Jones is one of the most humble QB I've ever seen. When asked a question he always gives praise to his teammates. He said there isn't no controversy about the QB position but don't think for one minute he is playing his fucking heart out.
Don't think it's not possible that Jones could end up being the number one. I mean think about it

  9. Well no time too waste no purdy no Mac jones make a trade for that 5th rounds kid Sheduer Sanders and stock the NFL. Hey I see him getting reps as. Niners 3rd string 😮
