>I want to be here. I want to be a New York Jet
Good, the Stockholm Syndrome has taken hold.
0-5 and yet there are fans who want to keep him. Lmao like why? Get the draft capital. We’re playing for literally nothing else this season.
This fanbase is delusional. They somehow think this team will somehow magically figure it out later in the season. LOL stop that.
I mean if you’re gonna have a QB on a rookie deal you might as well shell out a second contract to Breece
That’s honestly very surprising
Run game is the only facet of the sport we have going for us at the moment. I’d be sad to see him go and think he’s been underused at times but we’re probably not extending him. It is what it is.
Gotta trade him. They got surplus value from him already. Sucks they didn’t win, but the answer isn’t to give a big money deal to a RB whose best years are surely behind him given wear and tear.
He gone.
Oh he’s leaving lol
What do you think he’s gonna say? Lmao. These guys are professionals. We know what he’s really thinking
Nobody should believe that but I appreciate him saying it
I will say if he gets traded, our run game (which is our strongest offensive weapon) this offense will be on the same level as our defense.
Just trade him for a pick. Can’t just wait around hoping that top end speed eventually returns.
Draft the QB, sign Alec Pierce, draft Justice Haynes as the Breece replacement at the top of the 2nd. Surround the QB with talent.
Without wins to root for, it only leaves the players. Keep Breece, he’s a beast!
I’m a sucker for a guy who actually wants to be a Jet
He isn’t the 2022 version of himself. People need to realize he’s not nearly as good as he was as a rookie and keeping him just to have a jersey they can wear to games is foolish
“ I want my friends and family to know the jets have been treating me fairly, for far too long the American government has tried to..”
I’m honestly surprised to hear this given his demeanor but happy to hear it. That said, if the FO can get a major haul for him they should absolutely entertain the offer.
Another silver lining is this makes me more hopeful that Tanner Engstrand is well-liked by the offense. I continue to believe the offense is salvageable but the defense needs a complete teardown.
His loyalty greatly exceeds his wisdom.
Sign Breece!
Nooo Breece! Save yourself! This shit will be misery your whole career
We won’t get enough for him to justify trading him.
The player the jets should be shopping is Quinnen Williams.
Could see a playoff contending team that’s semi-weak at RB trading for him ….
Washington immediately comes to mind.
Pittsburgh could potentially be another if they keep winning and want to make a run with Rodgers.
Hell, the Chargers now have a big need at RB with Hampton injured.
If someone calls offering a 2nd or 3rd rounder for him, do we take it?
I like Breece …. but we have a lot of holes to fill next Spring.
They need to play Breece with more consistency. Feels like he is coming out every other down which is insane to me.
why?
I love Breece , I want him here.
But the writing is on the wall. He’s one of the only few good players that are productive and he’s done this year unless we re up him. It’s too risky to bet that he’ll stay when we can ship him off, get a decent player and some draft picks in return.
The alternative is openly admitting you dont want to be on a team. Which players generally only do when they request a trade.
If you say you dont want to be here that could also backfire if no one wants to trade for you. So not surprised.
Why?
Even if it’s a lie (not saying it is), it’s the classy thing to say to the media so good on him
Surprising tbh. We honestly don’t deserve the few good players we have.
It would be hard to turn down a 3rd rounder considering he was a second to begin with, but I could also see the argument for keeping him on the franchise tag. I know a lot of the production has been during garbage time, but the offense looks okay overall. Outside of Buffalo game, guys seems to be playing hard from start to finish. It’s certainly looking like we will have a top pick and Fields is giving us no reason to believe he is the long term answer so more than likely we will be picking a QB with a top 5 pick. And I think keeping the offense as in tact as possible will be important in creating a good situation for that young QB.
The defense on the other hand… sell them all (for the right price, of course). They have given up on this team. And on top of that, they will yield much more in trades. Guys like Sauce, Quinnen, etc could yield multiple first round picks. It would hurt to watch them go, but that would be a lot of draft ammo to build the defense from the ground up and bolster the offense as well. Might be a rough year or two on the defensive side of the ball, but if we at least build and offense that won’t ruin a young qb, who cares if the D gives up 30 a game. They’re already doing that, and at least in this scenario it would be due to a lot of young developing talent and not because we have talented vets that don’t seem to care.
If you go that route, hopefully the D can start to put it together around the time when the new QB is in his third year, potentially hitting his stride.
I love this guy. Are they able to offer a contact extension at any time or only in the off season?
