Y’all, he was always going to opt out for a bigger contract regardless of if he is staying or not.
Like to see him back, needs to step up in the postseason though
He’s gonna test the open market guys, we knew this lmao. You don’t think he’s gonna try to get the most value he can from the Yanks? Yankees are gonna try to keep him.
Not surprising. I’d definitely like him back at the right price.
I’m not to crazy about signing him back
It’ll be interesting to see what he gets. If it’s five years I would say that is too many.
I would love to have him back but I can definitely see this turning into another DJ LeMahieu situation down the road. If he regresses at all we’re paying a league average player way too much money again.
As he should.
In a shock to absolutely no one (I hope). He’s made for Yankee Stadium with impeccable defense. They must do their best effort to bring him back.
How long does the yankees have before he starts talking to other people?
Yankees should be at his door asap with negotiations
I’d prefer Tucker, but definitely wouldn’t hate a reunion
I’d check in with Kyle Tucker still. Maybe sign both, especially with Bellinger’s ability to play 1B.
Saw him at Torrisi last night. Probably had to opt out in hopes of covering the check.
I think Vlad jr needs to thank Soto for his $500 Million dollar contract + $325 million signing bonus.
If soto never got that mets offer, vlad jr might have walked.
Toronto needs vlad more than he needs them.
Even Judge aint get what vlad got and he is the team captain.

Bring back Belli
For those complaining about playoff Cody hitting, if 3-4 other guys had his playoff ops (.726 I believe 2nd highest starter on team besides Judge)Yanks would’ve won Game 4. Problem is everybody else had .400 ish OPS
No brainer to opt out. I want him back. Love the career .302/.367/.545 at Yankee Stadium, love the defense, love the attitude.
We knew this was gonna happen. Would really love him back though. Hopefully that wasn’t his last time in a Yankees uniform.
Really depends on the cost. I wouldn’t mind having him back playing LF next year. The good thing is he didn’t go nuclear to end the season, so the price probably won’t be as high. The bad thing is, he didn’t go nuclear at the end of the season and was pretty bad in the playoffs.
Any Babe Ruth’s out there?
Not a surprise
Just a reminder at this time of year that the Yankees have more than enough money to re-sign Bellinger if they want. They had more than enough money to sign Soto last year. They have more than enough money to keep these guys and add if they want. They currently have the 4th highest payroll in baseball, and it’s down to 8th next year with money coming off the books.
The Yankees currently have over $700M in revenue and only spend 49% of that on team payroll, which is closer to the Orioles, Royals, and Tigers than it is the Dodgers, Mets, or Blue Jays. Don’t do Hal and Cashman’s work for them this offseason. They need to be better, and they’ve shown an inability to do that developing guys that are difference makers internally.
Pay him, let Grish walk, let the Martian play everyday.
Probably lose him and we’ll extend Volpe with the biggest contract they’ve ever given. That’s just how we roll around here.
Bring him back over Grisham
Im going to be downvoted but I would be okay with letting him go. It’s potentially a DJ Redux. I want to see Jasson in CF next year to see what he looks like at his natural position dude has a ton of speed.
From the way he was speaking it sounded like that’s what he was going to do.
See ya. Play the kids now. We’ve already wasted Judges prime gotta start hoping some of these kids can play well at the major league level. Jones in LF Dominguez in CF. Cost controlled options.
I’m torn – I really liked him this year, great glove, steady bat but he strikes me as a “contract year” guy. 2023 on a prove it deal with the cubs he killed it, then pretty meh. This was effectively a contract year and he played well, what does next year bring. I see the parallels to DJ but DJ declined due to health I think Cody regresses due to effort. Just my two cents.
The question I have is, would we just be better off pivoting to Kyle Tucker, who’s the younger, better player and also a lefty?
No shit…sign him
Lookin at you Rockies!!
I can live with it. They have other players to put at left and first.
He did not perform in the offseason but we 10000% need to throw the bag at this man. He made an enormous impact on this team.
If that’s it with Cody, thanks for being a pro and being good at baseball.
With that said, I want him re-signed. This may drag out until after Kyle Tucker signs. The good news is that Tucker isn’t repped by Scott Boras so he may sign sooner. The bad news is Cody is repped by Boras.
It’s just business. Can’t blame him. In 1973 hank Aaron was the highest paid player at 250k.
Pay the man
Great Pete ALONSO WILL PLAY 1ST BASE NOW.
If I had told you when we acquired him Bellinger would ball out & opt out everyone would’ve said that’s the best case scenario.
I know we’ve grown to love em, I’ve grown to love em, but I hope they approach the negotiations with objectivity and borderline cold rationality.

Wish I could opt out of my yanks fandom
