Opening Day is Fun … Until It’s Not

Happy Friday morning, everybody. Did you know that our house is a very, very, very fine house? I think we’re going to add on. I want a bigger bedroom. I want a bedroom so big that I can run around and dance naked. All right. Today, I don’t have a lot to say about racing, but I got a lot to say about sports. So today is Friday, Thursday night, our St. Louis Blues. Uh, it’s not a comedy, but it’s just funny in a in a weird sad way. It’s not dark humor. It’s just like, well, it happens. So, the St. Louis Blues had their home opener and you all have your home openers and you know, you get the rally going on. It starts at noon, 1:00. Come downtown St. Louis. We’re going to rally, man. Our St. Louis Blues are back. Last year, the Blues were in the playoffs and they almost went on to the next round of the playoffs and we lost like in the last 1 second. So, we ended last year on a sour note. And, you know, we know we’ve got a good team and oh, darn it. But here we are in, you know, 2025/2026. Hey Wallace, where the hell you going with this story, young? It’s not a good story. So anyway, I’ve seen this happen to all of us. It’s the home opener at your own place. We all get jacked up on Sundrop and our Blues lost five to nothing against the Minnesota Wild. Oh, man. I’ll tell you what, I’ll never forget uh we went to a home opener for the St. Louis Cardinals and we were leading that damn thing two to nothing on opening day. I mean, here come the king. Here comes the Had the Clydes Dales there, man. We were rocking and rolling. Never forget it. We were sitting behind home plate and baby, we all standing up. We’re going to win this home opener. My buddy Jason Mott, I love Jason. He’ll throw a 95 100 mph fast ball right down the middle. He come in there and he was full of piss and vinegar. Wow. Ding. Wow. Ding. It’s like what the We lost. So, coffee with Kenny today is this. It’s all fun until it’s not, but you got to be in it for the long haul. Everybody, Shraider don’t like me talking about age, but one thing, one beautiful thing about being 62 years old is that, you know, to learn to breathe. Just breathe, everybody. St. Louis Blues are an awesome, awesome team. I love Chris Kerber. He’s the voice of the Blues. He’s my buddy and happy with the owners. And uh we just lost a home opener. It’s all there is to it. So for all of you teams out there, you know, NHL is starting right now. For all you home openers, if you win, that’s good. If you lose, breathe. I know everybody got jacked up on Sundrop last night and wow, what a bummer. I mean, we didn’t even score one damn goal. It’ have been different if we lost four to three, but it was five to nothing. And I’m sure everybody’s hitting the exit rows early, but the message of the day is listen, you might lose the opener, but be in it for the long haul, everybody. All right, we’re going to keep it short and sweet today. That’s all I got for you. But let me say this. We got big rain moving in. Uh they show it. It’s up the road. We’re supposed to race tomorrow night right here. We’re supposed to race Saturday night right here in Peaveley, but we’ll see. It’s chilly today and got big rain moving in. So, we’ll see what happens. All right, have a great Friday, everybody.

  2. Iโ€™m a Minnesota Wild fan, and when I was listening to this game on the radio, one of my first thoughts was how Kenny Wallace was feeling about that time and how the game transpired; knowing heโ€™s a Blues fan! โค

  3. I don't think I need that mental image of you dancing around in your birthday suit ๐Ÿ˜‚. Saw a recent interview you did on Kevin Harvick's pod cast it was awesome. Don't sell yourself short my friend your part of those guys that helped build up this sport we love. Have a good Friday โ˜•

  4. Step aside. We're here to see King Louie and you're hogging the camera! ๐Ÿ˜‚ Just kidding Herman! It was very nice meeting you and getting my Red Dog Super Truck autographed at Bristol. Will you be at Martinsville?
