Giants beat Eagles 34-17, Has New York found their franchise QB in Jaxson Dart? | The Herd

Last night was not about the Eagles. Sawan averaged 5 yards a carry, season high in yards. AJ Brown got touches. It was not about the Eagles. That’s not what last night, well, I’m not gonna open the show criticizing the Eagles. Last night was about the New York Giants. They have found their franchise quarterback. It’s gonna be bumpy. You’re gonna have weeks like last week and you’re gonna have last night. If they can keep him healthy, confident, athletic, slippery. Big boy NFL throws, that is an NFL franchise quarterback. Feet arm confidence. When once you get that right, Giants fans, it’s like when you found Eli, it gets much easier to build the roster. I mean, the Giants last night are missing their #1 receiver and the #2 receiver, and they scored 34 points. I know you all loved OBJ and you love Malik Neighbors. Come on, bro, that’s icing. The cake. It’s Cam Scatterbo. And Jackson Dart, because of the way they play. They’re tough, they’re young, they’re physical in the Northeast because of the weather, Tyreek Hill is not winning the titles. Your left tackle is, your star back. January football is not decided by the fastest guys. Jackson Dart’s tough. Cam Scaterbo’s tougher. If you can keep Andrew Thomas the left tackle healthy, you got your 3 guys. That’s gonna be your future. So the, the New York Giants have not had an offensive identity in a decade. In a decade, and they decided in a couple of weeks ago, let’s start the rookies. Let’s let Jackson and Cam Scat aboot. It’s their offense. Since then, the Giants lead the NFL in first downs, believe it or not. So it’s not just the win last night. It’s not just the production. It’s how they’re doing it. It is a Northeast physical football team. Go to the Patriots dynasty. They never won when they were at their flashiest with Randy Moss. Those were the years they didn’t win. They won early when they were tough physically, and they were winning late when they had Edelman and Brady and Gronk and always great on 3rd down. Giants were amazing on 3rd down last night. A lot of those fast teams aren’t amazing on 3rd down. They’re just fun to watch. Again, I like Malik Neighbors. OBJ was fun. That is icing. The cake in Northeast football. When the Steelers were great, it was defense and Big Ben, the best Peyton Manning Colts team ever could run the ball and play defense. Aaron Rodgers tiled with the Packers. They actually ran the ball and had his best defense as a Packer quarterback. That’s Northeast football. So they decided to start these guys. Week 4, we’re gonna give the kids the offense, and it looks different. There’s an identity. It’s, it’s physical over flash. It is stake over sizzle. There’s nothing wrong with a little sizzle. You can’t build around it. So that’s last night’s not about the Eagles falling apart. I can talk about that in 30 minutes. That’s, and once you get the quarterback, once you find the quarterback, you can then identify what you are. You can’t do that without the quarterback, right? Right, Kansas City finds Mahomes. We’re gonna be clever. We’re gonna be situational. We’re, we’re, because you have a situational, brilliant quarterback who’s really creative with a great arm talent. So the Giants have just been swimming around, drafting guys, hitting on a lot of them on defense. What are they? Last night, I’m like, oh yeah, you can build around that. That, that, that’s an identity. And I, if I told you an hour before the game, one of these teams is gonna score 34 points, you would not have picked the New York Giants. Giant fan wouldn’t have picked after that Saints debacle, and it’s gonna be uneven and it’s gonna be choppy and you’re gonna have bad weeks because they’re kids, but Brian, Brian Bel laughter saw what we all saw. Northeast football, championship football. Find me, find me the warm weather dynasty in the NFL. Dolphins have never had one. Carolina’s never had one. Arizona’s never had one. Rams are big good, not a dynasty. Find me one. Find me the warm weather NFL dynasty. Marino and Don Shula, one Super Bowl. One. Peyton Manning, Indy. 11 and it’s great. You look at the history of the NFL, the Green Bays, the Kansas City, Seattle’s mini dynasty, Baltimore’s greatness, Pittsburgh, New England, the Giants when they beat Brady twice. What was it about? That defensive front. That’s an identity. I watched the Giants last night. Oh, you can, oh, OK. You can put your arms around that and build around what I watched last night. That one-handed catch years ago, that’s just a moment.

The New York Giants shocked the Philadelphia Eagles, beating them 34-17. Colin Cowherd asks what went wrong for the Eagles, and if Jaxson Dart is the Giants’ franchise QB.

  1. Giants fan here… calm down… it’s only a few games. One quality competitive game on Sunday at a time is what us Giant fans are looking for…

So chill the f@$k down talking heads.

    Smh

  2. Giants did it without their #1 WR Nabers or #2 Slayton. We get Slayton back at some time but Nabers sadly won’t be back until next year. He is important to the offense but was also Dart’s security blanket which is important for a young QB. We could have or even should have beaten Dallas. The Saints game’s score is misleading. We were about to go up when Skattebo fumbled near the goal line which was returned for a TD & changed the game completely. We had 5 turnovers that game.

If we can win some games to hopefully make it season then GM Joe Schoen might have to look at adding a receiver. DJ Moore has fallen down the Bears’ depth chart with Odunze’s emerging as Caleb Williams’ favorite target & it looks like the #2 spot has been taken by rookie Luther Burden III. Gotta strike while the iron is hot as each season is important.

If we can beat Philly again in 2 weeks & sweep the season series that would di wonders for our season & really hurt the Eagles. The NFC East is turning out to be stronger & wilder than anticipated. Philly is still 4-2 but look vulnerable. Dak has been playing out of his mind despite Lamb being hurt. Washington is strong & just got Jayden Daniels back. The NFC East could be a log jam at the end of the season.

    Let’s Go Giants!

  3. Colin has the smartest reaction to last night's game, the Giants showed they aren't the same inept weak willed team they've been for the past several years

  4. Dude….get your facts straight, in 2007, the Patriots went 16-0 with Moss on the team only to lose in the Super Bowl, they did win with "flashy" players on the roster. Overall, their record was 40-12 while Moss played with them.

  5. Classic early season over reaction. Looking at dart and skattebo and seeing anything besides unsustainable is crazy. Can’t lower your head like that forever. All I see was young kids having fun, and which good for them. We’ll see how cocky they are when they’re sitting at home come playoff time. Also, when did “better than Russell wilson” become the benchmark for franchise quarterback? He was picking on third string guys against an already beat team. Yall are putting way too much stock into the giants. This is definitely more about how big the problems are for the Eagles than how bright the future is for the giants.

  6. 4:23, Don Shula+Dan Marino literally won 0 SB’s together, Colin. Of course they had 1 SB APPEARANCE in the 84 season, where they were beat down by Joe Montana and San Francisco 49ers.

  7. 2:17 Colin cowherd is the most revisionist flip-flop on the planet Earth.

The Patriots with Randy Moss simply ran out of gas.

The Randy Moss patriot could slaughter both the early New England Patriots, as well as the later dynasties with the talent they had on that team.

They will be there early and late versions of the New England Patriots 100 times out of 100 times

The second best team didn’t necessarily win either when they got rid of Randy Moss and went with Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski double Titan sets. They didn’t win a Super Bowl with those two either but those two were the second lethal football team I’ve ever seen and they would slaughter the Super Bowl winning New England Patriots, just as easily.

Stop being a prisoner of the moment. You’re much too old for this.

  8. To dismiss Nabers is stupidity.. I’m glad my team the giants and I don’t put to much stock in what this commentators have to say.. Ppl please consider the source

  9. Shula and Griese went to 3 superbowls Dolphins were the first team to go to 3 superbowls, won 2 of them and were arguably one of the first NFl dynasties going 17-0, then of course Dallas as someone else has already mentioned

  10. Name a warm weather dynasty? Umm ever heard of the Dallas Cowboys, and I wouldn't call San Francisco cold weather either. Colin never lets actual facts get in the way of his takes.
