[Rapoport] 49ers QB Brock Purdy (toe) has been ruled out again, as has WR Ricky Pearsall. Mac Jones (oblique, knee) is the likely starting option, though he’s listed as questionable.

  1. This really blows cus Brock OWNS the Bucs. But glad they’re playing it safe. I want to know that when he returns, he’s back for good

  2. Thats fine. Rather have our long term qb and wr get healthy then coming back too early then getting hurt again

  3. Hopefully Martinez has been getting a lot of 1st team snaps and reps. See us trying to run a lot as the Bucs have 8 or 9 in the box. Low scoring game is our only chance if Jones doesn’t start.

  4. Man… between Brock and the team underperforming last year and him getting hurt early on this year, the narratives around him have just gotten so insufferable.

  5. just don’t be within 1 score with 5 minutes to go. Mayfield is a comeback merchant

  6. Niners had pretty good luck when they had to go to the 3rd string quarterback a while ago…

  7. Hopefully Mac’s good to go. I know he’s a baller but he was also banged up pretty good last game

  8. Every game matters, but with our recorded I believe the team has some breathing room to wait for players to get healthy. And the better Mac does. The better draft pick we get for him at the end of the season.

  9. Disappointed as I’m traveling to the game, but the season is more important than one game, glad I packed the cmc jersey just in case!

  10. Can we just write this one off and eat the l, run our third string QB with Mac as backup and give some rookies and backups reps to develop? Like let cmc take it easy. I don’t want to kill Mac and anyone else to maybe eke out a dicey win. Just come back that much stronger next weekend.

  11. Only good can happen with Mac behind center. Let Purdy ride the bench for the rest of the year so he can learn from a real QB.

  12. Purdy sitting this out until 100% healthy is for the best, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little concerned.

let’s say he comes back a month from now, do we continue to play Mac? or expect Purdy to play as if he hasn’t missed a step, while also getting in sync with his receivers?

Mac has obviously been playing with injuries of his own. If he goes down, and Purdy’s injury turns out to be worse than expected, it just might get ugly.

  13. Purdy out again? can’t they just shoot the toe full of painkillers, players of the past are laughing their ass off. Do you think Bronko Nagurski or Dick Butkus let turf toe stop them. Nagurski played with half his torso missing as legend has it.
