Norman Powell 🎥 First Miami HEAT Training Camp

Come on, Daniel. Here we go. I’m here. I’m low. I’m back. I’m back. I’m back. It’s your boy Norman Pal. We’re here at FAU for training camp. My first training camp with the Miami Heat. Super excited to be here. Ready to get this going. Um, should be a great year. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Norm, you got here. All right. Now, as he drives it from here, you’re going to turn, pivot. All right. Pull. And then we play. He fits our personality. He’s he culture. You know, he’s culture. He comes here. He blends right in. We’re able to get out there and compete today. And I think that’s where he thrives. He’s a two-way player. He likes to compete. He’s got a little bit of an edge to him. I like the compete that we had. Everybody’s really looking forward to uh competing against each other. Uh they call it the Hunger Games, which is I really like. See who the dogs are, who’s going to compete and come out on top. He’s been in the league what 12 years at this point. Obviously, he’s a champion. So, you know, whenever vets like that can have their input, it means a lot for the younger guys. And even me, you know, I’m still learning how to be a champion, how to be a winner in this league. So, uh it’s good to have somebody who’s had that experience. You good? Yeah, brother. Good to see you, sir. First set. Just go slow. Everyone knows him as a a really good basketball player um on the floor, but just watching him off the floor, he’s a professional. So, he’s a guy that I can look to to kind of help my game off the floor, get my body right, getting prepared for actual game of practice and watching things like him. So, he’s like a real true professional. One more. One more round. I never shortcut. Yep. Yep. This going to give me uh athleticism like Precious. Yep. This will do it right here. First impressions of Norm is just I would say leader. Leader, a vet, selfless human being. He out there. He being vocal overall alpha dog. Here we go. Remember the detail. Step to the ball. Step to the ball. He can score the ball anytime he wants, but he still looks for everyone. He encourages everyone. Um I mean, he’s just a leader on the floor for sure. Oh, I got rebound. I got rebound. Yep. I got you. I got you. you know, we have a younger team, so the more our veterans, you know, can speak up where it’s makes sense, I think it’s a good thing. It is talking. And we had heard that, you know, he takes his craft, takes team building very seriously. I’m low. I’m low. Watch the rip. Get through that. Y up. Y drive. Come on. I’m pulling. I’m pulling. I’m pulling. I’m pulling. I’m pulling. There you go. Swing. You know, they’re not asking me to reinvent the the wheel. Um they’re asking me to be me. And um you know obviously um they want more leadership and talking and being vocal. Um but that’s also me you know um it’s not something that I’m not used to. Back you know I have a multitude of ways of leading um which is you know getting in and doing the work showing up early getting the extra time in you know uh setting that example. Um but also u using my knowledge and uh my veteran leadership now for the 11 years of knowledge that I’ve accumulated. Come on my take. Read it. Read it. Take your time. throughout the drills. If I see something, pulling that guy to the side, um talk to them about what they can see and the adjustments that can be made. Um that’s what they’re asking me to do. So when you rip and he body you, take another dribble, man. As these preseason games start rolling, start getting more minutes and uh chemistry under my belt, I’m sure they’ll, you know, see things that they want me to improve on and have more interest and focus uh going into the regular season.
