The Yankees Embarrassed Themselves to End Yet Another Season | 1297

Today is October 8th and Yankees baseball has come to an end. 2025 season done and dusted. Let’s talk Yanks. Thank you very much. My name is Jimmy. His name is Jake. This is Talking Yanks produced by BBD. Before we get into it, it’s brought to you by SeatGeek. You can go to SeatGeek and use code JM playoffs for 10% off your next set of tickets. Go see other teams play. Go see a show, a band, whatever. It’s time to do something else with your time. Uh, baseball’s over for Yankees fans. So, use code JM playoffs for 10% off your next set of tickets. And before we get into it, because once we start talking baseball, uh, it’ll get lost. But I want to personally just say thank you. Uh, it’s been the biggest growth year in talking Yanks history this season, which I I thought we might be too long into this to have the biggest growth year. Usually things grow early. It’s been unbelievable uh growth and um you know, community that we’ve built has been awesome. So, I know that once we start going, Jake, and I throw it to you, I was going to forget to do that. So, just thank you to everyone. Really appreciate it. Jake, how you doing? James Davis, everyone tuning in. Yeah, thank you. We have uh you know in this room we have three growers not showers. Um so thank you guys for the growth this year. Um and whatever what everything has turned into. This is my least favorite episode of the year to do. Uh and we’ve had to do this episode every year since 2017. So uh a lot has changed since then. Uh, and a lot of that is because of good things of uh growing in popularity and being able to do it as a full-time job and interviewing Boone and all of that. Uh, so yeah, I don’t know. I uh, thanks everyone. It’s been a trying year in a lot of ways. Uh, we had fun moments along the way. Let’s rip into the team a little bit. Maybe we’ll get one more anger spike, but I don’t know. Yeah, I was gonna say I was gonna say people usually come wanting blood and anger, but once there’s no nothing the fight is over, I’m just kind of like exhausted and done with it. I I do have some like vigor in me, but I don’t think it’s going to come out in in that way. Yeah, I have an overarching message um so that I I want to talk about, but do you want to recap this game at all? Uh, hats off to Schlitler. Hats off to Schlitler. Gave another dog performance. Uh, insane. They pitched to Vlatty in the first inning. Big super chat. I think that’s my guy Chris De Mo. Thank you guys. Let’s Let’s talk about the things that were terrible. Pitching to Vlad in the first inning was just insane. And then the way they go about pitching to him really bothers me. They kept they continued to pitch the Blue Jays outside. Yeah. um like they aren’t a team that’s just gonna throw the bat at the ball and put it in play and then they put it outside and then you’re you’re not shifted to cover that. Um that that that but pitching to him in general with first base open was insane. But Slither did pitch well. Yeah. And I I’ll get ahead of this just because this episode will be listened by probably more Toronto fans than New York fans. Uh that Toronto is the better team. I mean, it’s not even like a discussion. I just I just when we’re starting talking about Yankees BS, Toronto is the better team during the season. Uh Toronto has a better approach. Uh they dominated their two home games that they earned by being better in the home season, home season, we’ll call it. Yeah. Regular season even. Yeah. Toron Toronto is actually giving me hope as a Yankees fan and a baseball fan. And I want to get into that. Uh, but first let’s talk about the Jazz mishap. People are saying there’s two. We We don’t think there’s two. The first one I I don’t think Jazz could have got to. And where he’s positioned, Jazz doesn’t position himself. The coaches position him. I thought he was ill positioned. He should have been there to turn that double play ball. Um the the angle behind uh the high home angle shows Cam Slitler. It wasn’t actually close to him. Like I don’t think he could have actually got it and turned play. They would have had a really like jump and lunge. Yeah. Uh but I don’t think Jazz could have got it either. The next one is tailor made and really changes the whole momentum of the game. Granted, obviously the Yankees are still down one run and they only have two hits in the game, but it just puts more pressure and it goes from a two-1 game and then it just snowballed. That was a brutal, brutal, brutal error. It’s the the ripple effect of baseball. It’s one of the things I love to talk about and I think it’s one of the things that makes the game beautiful between basketball that’s just constantly running and different plays and football you’re setting things up and what you know men hitting each other that sometimes if someone’s just dominant that that’s the game plan. Um this changed the whole path of this playoff game and it’s part of the reason we were in the live stream we were joking you know one of Joe’s McFly uh signature lines has always been 27 outs. There’s 27 outs in a baseball game. This Yankees team has given the other team more than that the past five years and that makes it a lot harder to win baseball games in a way that makes part of their success even more impressive. In a way, it makes all of it worse that if they field that double play, I don’t know what happens. It’s Michael K shooting for you a baseball. When you see a Kia, you see a Kia. That none of that made sense. I’m just sad. But if they get through that, it’s seven clean for Cam Schlitler. What if Devin pitches a clean eighth? What if Bedar pitches a clean ninth? What if Judges Hoffman looked not good? What if the pressure mattered when they got runners on the next two innings? Like the Yankees would have been positioned much better to win this game. I’m not saying they do, but they didn’t give themselves the chance to. And in a way, they still did. Austin Wells came up with the bases loaded. The stadium stood up. We went to stand up. The at bat was over. Yeah. He popped out. So, like it’s just the Is he gonna get mad? I don’t know. It’s the perfect example of they had every opportunity to win this game when they lost on losing plays again like we did last year. It’s pathetic. It’s not baseball. You got beat by playing baseball again. Yeah. The reason why the Blue Jays being good is making me hopeful is because I think we’re fully coming out of the swing of heavy um it’s not I’m not I don’t want to use analytics as a broad term but like um man I don’t know how to sum it up but for what what baseball became and I’ve tal I talked we talked to some people actually part of a team that has not done this anymore that opened our eyes to like how they think basically they they build rosters and build approaches for a 162 game season. This is what the Yankees have done. So if it’s boxing, right, they’ve guaranteed that after 10 rounds they will outslug the other guy in the ring. If at 10 rounds they will win, right? But they cannot guarantee they will win one round because they don’t have enough punches. If they miss some punches and some little featherweight comes in, they don’t have that. And what the Blue Jays and the Brewers have built is they’ve built teams that know how to attack one inning. They have multiple clubs and throughout the course of the season, they attack games in multiple different ways. So then you get to the postseason and you have batto ball skills and you have guys bought in to throwing the barrel at the ball and hitting it the other way and not guessing like Trent did like Wells is doing, like Vulpi did, like and just taking pitches. How many pitches did the Blue Jays just [ __ ] take for a strike? Not many. They fought constantly because that’s how they designed the team. Teams can win regular seasons by saying, “Stick to your A plan. Stick to your A swing over the long hall. You will hit 25 to 30 home runs and those will help us win games.” But they that that doesn’t guarantee you in the fight every night. Yeah. And that’s what baseball used to be, which made it a beautiful game and made it fun. And what the Blue Jays just did. If I mean it’s not fun because we’re on the other end of it, but any third party watching and any Blue Jays fan watching like go watch the Brewers play as a third party. It is joyous. Like it’s like oh my god these guys are relentless. The Yankees are not relentless. They do not do what it takes to win innings because they don’t have multiple tricks. They don’t have skills. Vulpi if he was on the Blue Jays the last two years he’d be Ernie Clement he’d be Barger he’d be Schneider he’s on the Yankees and they’re telling him don’t worry you play your game you take your swings you’ll run into 20 homers and if we get 20 homers from the shorts stop over the course of the year that’s a great player it’s not a player that helps you win every day that’s the exact argument that I got into with Boon two years ago when he’s like he’s a winning player I’m No. Over the course of 162, you like the total stats. Chris Carter hit the most home runs in baseball. He did not guarantee you a shot to win a game every single day. The only guys doing that are Bellinger who struggled in the postseason, but he is he is that approach. And Judge who has built his approach that way. Jazz had flashes of it. Then he would get lost in the A swing, but he did have flashes of swing lighter. But Gisham, he’s a 162 guy. Vulpi, he’s a guy trying to do 162, but he’s doing nothing. Wells, he’s a 162 guy. Wells isn’t guaranteed to help you win a game on a given night. Uh McMahon, he’s got a good glove. I hope he can hit and find the porch. Cabiro, he’s a he’s an everyday, right? The effect the effect what the Yankees don’t know is if you played Kabiro at short every day versus Vulpi you have a much more impactful player every day every night you have a better chance to win because he’s because he can help the game in multiple ways. his speed, base running, contact, and yeah, I think I the the two at bats that should be highlighted from this that Yankees analytics department while they listen to this, hey boys, the two at bats that you should look at from each side and this will make them pound sand. Trent Gisham taking a 32 slider right over the middle of the plate. 3-2 slider right over the middle of the plate. and then show Miles Straw or how about this instead of Miles Straw because my god he really threw the bat at it and I don’t I actually don’t believe in that over 162 what Miles Straw did but for this game it encompass it. Show every single Ernie Clement at bat. Show every single one. They just say it’s lucky that’s baseball but it’s not. It’s not. It is baseball. It’s baseball. baseball is is it’s not lucky though. And it’s exactly what Judge’s hitting coach teaches him to do is to have his bat in the zone long so when he does miss it, it’s a single, not a swing and miss. That’s what’s that’s what’s bothering me. And I and I’m hopeful that the Blue Jays doing this and the Brewers doing this and seeing that baseball swing back this way, the Yankees make a change because in 2017 when when three true outcome baseball was ramping up full speed and it was exit VO and it was hard hit and it was all that stuff and Joey Gallow was getting huge contracts that he turned down from the Rangers because he thought he was going to get more elsewhere. The Yankees overhauled their entire hitting department and their entire minor leagues at that time. Yeah. And they brought in all these guys that taught this. And with that, they also overhauled their pitching department. Guess what? The analytics for pitching that still stands. That’s helping. The Yankees now develop pitchers. They haven’t developed a hitter at all since Judge. And they didn’t really develop. They they he went to another guy and scrapped him and told them, “I’m doing it my way. Shut up.” That was a quote that he said. If you’re not going to help me get out of the way, that’s a quote Judge said to the Yankees. And they haven’t developed a hitter. And they and and they haven’t helped a guy graduate to the major league level and become a major league hitter. So, we’re almost 10 years on. Yeah. So, I’m hoping they see this and they revamp again because it’s just it’s just it’s not a formula to win. And the playoffs are not as big of a crapshoot. When every team from 2017 to 2022, when every team was doing the three true outcome, it was somewhat crap shooty because every team was playing the same [ __ ] gamble. But now you got teams that are like, “No, we’re going to build a team that could beat you every single day and they’re going to win out, dude. That should still odds.” It’s something that we were on and I think we’ve come away from and now we can be back on. Uh it’s striking out because the Yankees box score actually looks a little deceptive because Bednar struck out three in his final 1.2. He he can he’s good at the barbecue. We’ll see you next year, Bednar. Cam Schlitler who coming off his last start against Boston where he had 13. How many strikeouts? 12 or 13. 12 or 13. He had two strikeouts today. The Milwaukee Brewers do everything they can to not strike out. Part of what made Cody Bellinger delightful this season and part of the irony he’s the last out on a strikeout is he had a two out a two strike approach. Like all of baseball is reverting back to the things we learned from baseball a hundred years ago. The starting pitcher going longer is good. Having athletes that can play defense is good. Putting the bat on the ball and not striking out is good. It feels like we’re yelling at T-ballers. These are some of the original lessons you learn in the sport. and we tried to outthink it with so many smart people in the game that don’t play the game that we sprinted too far the wrong way. And hey, my guy here loves stats and info more than anyone. And hey, stats and info are good if you use them properly. But we are playing a game and the best players have to play that game. And if you’re not doing something right, it’s just not going to click. like what they’ve done to Anthony Vulpi is [ __ ] up. The best thing they can do is um send him to a National League team and and and that’s all I can’t I can’t I can’t do it, dude. I I I might lose my [ __ ] mind if if he shows up to spring training with the same exact batting stance. Well, that’s what happened last year. I know. We might go We might have to get you in a padded room for a little bit. I mean, that happened this year and I didn’t want to spring training is time of optimism, time of feeling good. So, I didn’t say it on the on the show. I just texted you guys cuz Anthony Vulpi did a whole article about they asked him what changes he was making and year three and he said I’m not making no I didn’t really make any changes I just figured my third year now I know how guys are going to pitch to me and I know I was like what your new approach is you didn’t change anything and you just hope natural growth will take over. I almost had a [ __ ] aneurysm but I spring training gotta be positive gotta be positive so I didn’t do it on the show. Oh my god, dude. They have failed him and they need and he he can’t he can’t be on the team next year. He can’t he can’t he cannot be on the team next year. I’ll give a teacher man caveat. If teacher man gets his hands on Vulpi, I’ll allow it. I know I’m grouchy because they just lost and it ended. They lost. It just ended. Vulpi holding three bats with donuts on all three bats. and then faking butt in the first pitch. I think I might have done that in my last game ever played. I I don’t know how to Smoltz saw it and had to call it out and he was right to call it out. Yeah, maybe the mo more Maybe the more embarrassing thing. Three bats with donuts on them, dude. Yeah. What do you think? You’re stopping a cannonball. Yeah. What could that possibly be for? You’re a 5’9 wiry player and then you show Button to get Dude, he can’t he can’t can’t be on the team next year. If they’re serious team Yeah. that looks at things and changes. Jazz 3030 season that can come back. Let’s let’s tighten up the focus on defense. Let’s not let’s let’s turn the the it’s just baseball a little down on on Jazz. I like Jazz a lot, but a little bit of his like Yeah, it’s just baseball. Like you got to be positive. Like let’s let’s make things matter a little bit. Kind of some of the good stuff he said about how great playing in New York is. You feel the intensity. I yeah, I really those are those can be contradictory sometimes. McMahon and Cababiro can be a platoon situation. They can be whatever role they’re playing. I hope give McMahon a shot to learn a a swing in the Bronx or new approaches. Maybe he can try that. Um man, if you bring Vulpi back and he’s and he I I don’t even think you can bring him back. I really don’t. Yeah. And I’m not trying to be crazy here. I think it if if you do it’s an amalgamation of everything which is a word you used once. It’s been used. Um we’ll talk about all the other offseason plans. Yeah. Pitching looks good. They need a lot of bullpen. Uh we’ll figure all that out. Belly should come back. I don’t think you Trent I if you I mean I I think they’re going to. So that’s why I’m getting frustrated. If he’s if he’s the starter at spring training, you’re a [ __ ] joke. That’s a joke decision. For three years, he’s been the worst offensive player in the league. He just struck out 12 of 14 times and looked embarrassing doing it. And you pinch hit him at the very end for Dominguez. You handled him wrong. You botched it the whole season, let him go get a new life somewhere. It And guys that think Lombard’s the future, you thought Vulpi was the future. So give that kid a breather, too. Get get a shortstop that’s played at the major league level. Well, um any of these Blue Jay Fox free agents, little little backhand IKF maybe. Um they employ Jose Cabiro. Um, yeah, man. No, you’re right. I was I was trying to think during the stream when it was all falling apart. I was trying to think of the comparison because, you know, the the Yankees are in fear because Vulpi was a legitimate prospect and you’ve seen the defense and you’ve seen Pop and his bat. Um, like the Yankees are probably scared about getting hurt from Vulpi, which I mean, they’re already inflicting their own pain. Um, but it’s I was trying to find the comparison. It’s like having Okay, if he hurts you, it’s a motorcycle that you don’t know how to ride. So, like, get it out of your house. Like, the Brewers know how to use that motorcycle. You do not. It’s a good comparison. You haven’t shown you know how to ride it. Yeah. Yeah. So, like if someone else can like just cuz like someone gifted you a jetpack doesn’t mean you get to fly away without any practice. like find the Cody Bellinger trade for him next year where you have to put a body in the trade to take someone else’s contract. They’re never going to get the value they think he’s worth because no one else thinks there’s value there. That was Cody Potit in that trade for Cody Bellinger. That’s what I’m saying. Well, they took on a lot of money, but they can cover that up. You know what I’m saying? You can put dirt on that. Um, let’s uh we got one more read, so we’ll get it out of the way before some of our final thoughts. It’s for lids. Uh, guys, it’s for lids. Um, again, I’ll go off script. I told this lid story once and maybe you guys can use it now. Um, right after college, couple years after college, uh, me and one of our buddies, Rob, uh, we had been broken up with our girlfriends the same weekend. Uh, so me and him went to Lids and we were both sad and we we each got a hat and then it helped. It helped. It’s that day got a lot better. Lids helps with sadness. Okay, I I’ll go back to their ad read because they have the hats, they have the new air collection, they have all the stuff, you know, apparel. Uh they also have Topps trading cards now. So, right now, Lids is hooking up our listeners with an awesome offer. All you have to do is text Yanks to 29017. That’s Yanks to 2917 and you’ll receive 20% off your next headwear or apparel purchase. Some exclusions do apply. Um, let’s see. Uh, I think talking Yank stuff, just getting ahead of this for you guys. I We’re gonna try to get at least one thing out a week for you guys for a little bit while the rest of the postseason goes on. Jimmy just had a kid. He’s been coming in for these streams. Yeah, I think I’m going on paternity, but it’s still playoffs, so I got to break down stuff. We’ll find a balance. Um, and BBD’s got some stuff. We’re brewing up some new content for the YouTube channel. So, if you don’t consume on there, go check that out. But if there’s news or something, we’ll we’ll find some time to get in front of the mics. Um, yeah, I don’t know. I I guess broad strokes uh with this Yankees team. Uh, I’ll start off with something that’s fairly harsh. Um, we have been big partners with DraftKings for a while now. DraftKings helps employ all the people we employ. So, we thank you, DraftKings. Um, the easiest probably 3,000 5,000 likes I could get on a post every year is a Yankees World Series ticket bet. I didn’t place that bet this year. Summer was brutal. The bullpen was horrifying. And it wasn’t a complete team. But it’s also why they can’t get out of those slumps because they they only do the same thing, right? So when it goes horrible, it goes horrible. And they made decisions quicker this year than they did last year. They did. But they need to get better at that. Yeah. The Cubs benched Kyle Tucker. Hope he never got benched. He just had a day off. Yeah, he Well, once his shoulder hurt. Um Yeah. No, they they they tried to adjust. I think the other thing we saw is you need more platoon less players and that’s easier said than done because it’s the hardest thing to do in the sport. But I don’t know how Ben Rice getting neutralized for a loss but he can’t he was he couldn’t hit the lefty. Um and then he had ended up having a rough postseason. The bottom of our lineup had some real tough moments that um I’m going to be interested to see how they attack that. I mean, Trent leading off, man, ended up being kind of a killer to this series, and that was one of my biggest fears going throughout the year. Yeah. Hopefully they develop Dominguez into a leadoff hitter. I still have uh hopes for Dominguez. They treated him like a rookie. He got beat out for the job. He knows what he has to work on. He’s a young kid. Got I like what he’s about. So, hopefully he can figure out defense. I think if he can figure out defense, he’s going to be a leadoff hitter for the Yankees. He’s still young. Yeah. at least on one side of the plate. Just stay there. Just stay there. And yeah, it it does start to get real interesting when you start doing Yankees off seasonason with your friends, which we’re we’re going to leave a little time before we go full plans and everything like that, but there’s a lot of stuff that is coming back. It’s not like the craziest who off season. Not a ton of starting pitching, free agents coming off the board that we got to resign or replace. You’d like to think one of the guys in the outfield comes back. Maybe not. Yeah. I mean, the big guys leaving are um it’s an outfielder. And do they address catching? Bednar, Gisham, Goldie, Devin, Weaver are all free agents. Bedar’s No, not I didn’t mean to say Bedar. I meant um Gisham, Bellinger, Goldie, Goldie, Devin, and Weaver. Yes. And Rosario. Yeah. I mean, there’s Slater. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There’s there’s But those are the big ones. The two outfielders, the two relievers, and Goldie. Yeah. It’s just interesting because Dominguez is on this team. They probably are at least going to have him be three out of four. Yeah. Yeah. You need a platoon first baseman and a platoon catcher. And how are they going to treat that? Yeah, that they need to go get a righty catcher. Shorts stops kind of thing. JT Ramudo. We’ll we have a lot of more a lot more time to do that. Hey, uh, dude, JT Ramudo would not jive with the Yankees makeup. Maybe we need that. No, that’s that’s in that vibe. I’m saying that. I’m saying. And I love Judge. He had a great postseason. Yeah. The other thing, this was when I was having a sad time the other day. Um, I was like, “Wow, we didn’t get to watch Garrett Cole pitch this year.” Yeah, we have to watch Slier at the end. That was fun. There’s uh exciting things with the pitching. Yeah, it’s just going to be it’s going to be very interesting. It could just be a lot of tweaks. It could be a resign Cody, ideally JT Rudo, and like that’s it. Yeah. What they need to change is the minor league system, right? They need to do that either way. Yeah. They need to start developing guys to play baseball. cannot continue to call up guys who cannot play defense or situationally hit. Can’t can’t man the whole minor league should be taught by ex big leaguers and it was for the longest time and then they just broke that and brought in guys that didn’t play the game. And I think it works a lot more with pitching than hitting the analytics. Yeah. Yeah. Definitely throw harder. Pitch moves more. But like can change how they play hitting wise. I don’t know. Except teacher man. No. Hitting you need to know like, hey, there’s a runner here and and so this guy’s probably going to do this to you. or hey, he sequenced you this way that time, so he might be sequenced you this time that you all that [ __ ] You get two strikes. If you get a fast ball away and you could put your barrel on it, just slap that. You might get a hit. What does What does major league batting averages turn into when you get two strikes? So, if you get a pitch that you can do something with, do something with instead of hitting your A swing and hitting a fly ball to the deepest left center field. Yeah, that’s why I mean I I the Blue Jays are fun to watch. I don’t know if they have the bullpen to to go deep. The National League teams are good. I think they can go to the World Series. I think they could beat whoever’s coming out of uh Seattle and Detroit. Yeah, I think they’re pretty relentless offensively. Uh, I don’t know if it’s good for like viewership and all that, but if it’s Brewers and Blue Jays and we change the way we put together teams and and the sport of baseball, I said it at the very start of the postseason, I’ll say it again. I I’m for it. I hated three true outcome baseball more than anything. And yeah, everything’s snapping. Everything that they went to in that five, sevenyear stretch is getting just like squashed like a bug. Every year we get rid of one more thing. Oh, no. You can’t just play guys in any position. Gone. No lefties in the lineup. The Yankees just gone. The Yankees do the same shift for every lefty. And that’s nothing. That’s nothing. Yeah, that’s not a shift. That’s not an That’s not analytics. Hop over. It doesn’t matter who the pitcher is, who or who the lefty batter is, the same shift. Next year is going to be, I think, one of the more pressure-packed seasons. The second longest Yankees World Series drought has is now tied. The Yankees came off a World Series attended last year. They audible from Sodto better than people kind of thought they would, but man, Judge gets a year older. Cole coming off Tommy John. It’s um the Red Sox are going to be better next year. I don’t know. Interested to see if Cashman has a go big button in them. It would be shortstop and catcher, which I’m scared about. Um, I don’t know. You gota you gotta build a team to win the game they’re in. Not Not 162. Yeah. All the [ __ ] counting numbers. If you watch the Yankees, like they lead even home runs. Okay. Well, they face a bad pitcher, they homer, right? They like famously bunched their homers all day. They face a bad team, they score 30 runs in three days, right? That’s not a formula to win out. They faced a good pitcher, they just got absolutely shut out and they had no plan B to get to him before he came out of the game. It was just hopefully he comes out and we get to one of their scrub bullpen guys. Like that’s that’s not a formula to grind out. And they think like just taking a walk is grinding it out. Like no. Taking what you’re getting, pitching you outside, spray it outside, playing defense back, then bunt for a base hit. Play the sport. Yeah, I’m just I’m staring at weird stats right now. How can someone like Trent Gisham only have nine doubles? He had 34 homers. He’s not fast. I know, but it’s just again, it’s approach. It’s He got those 34 homers with that approach. If he had a more Blue Jays-esque approach, he would probably have 22 homers and 22 doubles. Yeah, that’s not what they That’s not what they play for. And again, Trent, I’m happy for Trent. Trent’s gonna go get paid this off seasonason. and the way he plays center and he hit righties. Good for him. Um, but yeah, I also I don’t know when I get into my weird start cutting up stats like the Yankees leading in on base percentage which we were proud of this year. If you take out Judge, which again they have, but like second best on the team was Trent, who was unplayable against lefties this series. What was his base percentage? 348. J Carlo was 350 in 77 games. And J Carlo’s his own ordeal. He was delightful this year. Didn’t have the postseason moment. But like for the Yankees being an on base and power team when it’s really hard to be a power team in the postseason, it’s still being an on base team is good. And I’m looking at everyone and it’s like, wait, Wells 275, Goldmint 328. Wells 275 on base. Yeah. Well, had an awful year. Yeah. No serious team just just just does Wells again as the starter. Like they need to if they want to get a righty platoon competition and build a competition, that’s fine. Um I don’t even think they’ll do a platoon or a competition with Vulpi. Uh, I think they’re just going to run him back a starter. I think he shouldn’t even be on the I think I think he needs to be taken away as an option. Like that’s an area where I hate to say this is what Stein Burner would do. Um, oh god. But who but whoever if if it’s Cashman that’s the one that’s saying you have to play this guy because he’s a first round pick and we believed in him and Boon is like can I like platoon and Cash’s like no. Or if it’s Cash saying hey you do what you want. Uh, and Boon is the one. Whoever the option needs to be taken away. Steinber would have traded Vulpi to the Mets as a joke. A prank. Just a Yeah, if you’re if you’re a stats person at home, really weird. No one else on the team on base. Like Belly’s 334 does a ton of other stuff. like Jazz 332 does a ton of other stuff. No one else. I don’t know. Well, I mean, Vulpi had a terrible year. Wells had a terrible year. 272 on base for V. What’s his career on base? Uh, coming into today, his career on base is 283. So, it was a down year, year three. He can’t be the starting short stop next year. He can’t be on the team. If he’s not a If he’s not a starter, he provides nothing. And as a starter, he provides good defense sometimes. 29 other teams besides a few weeks. 29 other teams would be elated if we have Vulpi as our starting shortstop next year. Bad formula. All right. Go Yanks. We’ll we’ll [ __ ] catch up with you again. Thank you very much for tuning in. Especially when we’re cranky and and whining. Uh sometimes we’re silly and fun. Other times we’re tired. Sometimes we’re wide awake. Sometimes we’re very sarcastic and joking. Sometimes we’re very serious and real. It’s the whole gambit. Um, if you’re watching Task, we can talk about it, you know. I’m also excited about American Revolution, new Ken Burns Doc. We can talk about that coming out. I’m watching the new season of Slow Horses. Nice. Uh, happy to chat about that if anyone wants to chat. We got the Ashes coming up. Happy to chat about that. I’m gonna plan a vacation. Nice. Floor ball. Good happening. Team baggage two and 0 first two games. got a blitz ball battle coming up. So, you know, things are happening. See you. Go Yanks. Tell them Grahams. Go Yankees. Go Yankees. Go Yankees. Yankees. Yankees. Love you. Lenon.

  1. I think they need to focus on not wearing 6 gold chains, and looking to the dugout after every basehit and doing a fortnite dance. Or who has the flashiest glove colored like ice cream with sprinkles on it. Its not about baseball anymore. Its a complete side show. They should be embarrassed.

  2. First time viewer. Jays fan here. Was here to see what NY reaction was. Great show and my biggest fear is you guys end up with Bo Bichette next year!! Ugh.

  3. I'm happy for the Jays; however, they haven't won anything yet! If the Jays lost to the Yankees, I would cheer for the Yanks! The New York Yankees make MLB the amazing sport that it is. I'm sure the Jays fans were pooping their pants until the last out was registered.
NYY fans are knowledgeable and very engaged in their beloved Yankees. Anything short of losing the World Series is considered a failure! How many entertaining moments have they provided throughout this season? Winning is fun, losing is not!

  4. Ironically, when the yankees became a meaningful team again in 1996, they played the Orioles in the playoffs and the Orioles had hit many more homers than the yankees but the yankees beat them by getting hits and not worrying about the long ball.

  5. I think Cashman want to fix up the middle in infield. I think they will try to trade Wells or Volpe to improve this team up middle. Sign realmuto as catcher and Bichette to play SS. I'm sorry Volpe can't be starting SS of this team after he went 1-13 in playoffs and alot of strike outs. We need players that we can count on and do their jobs.

  6. great talk about ball- what a game- just thinking though- Aaron Judge had a helluva post season- his #s were amazing- but, he is going home again- Judge is a generational player- BUT, I fear he may end up like Karl Malone (never won a championship) or Marcel Dionne- never won a Stanley cup, or Jim Kelly (# of great QBs Marino, Moon, Fouts). Do you guys think Judge should ask for a trade so he might have a better chance of a World Series win for this player! This is frustrating

  7. What's really crazy to me is that, after last year WS, the Dodgers scouting report about Yankees inability to put a ball into the play was out and ALL 29 teams now know Yankees biggest weakness (including Yankees themselve) and it was displayed beautifully in that 5th inning of G5.
So, now Yankees had the advantage to learnt from that, but God forbid NO NO, they still not improved in the very area they should and that's how another Yankees seson end…

  8. Further more. Watch the Jay's well-paid superstar, Vladdy, in a losing cause, scores in the top of the third by diving to beat the throw. Diving! And he ran like there was no tomorrow. I cannot remember Judge demonstrating the same hustle. If NY fans have a clip of Judge moving like his life depended upon it, post it and I will eat my words. And here, jomboy and crew are talking about fine tuning the Yankee lineup by not having Volpe back. What? BS!

  9. Dodgers had this same problem with offensively philosophy till around the covid season. It was a big reason the Dodgers dominated the regular season but laid eggs in the postseason. Getting Mookie helped change the culture.

  10. VolpE6 is horrible, worst player in MLB. The preferential treatment they give this entitled little jerkoff makes me sick. He's pure garbage and everyone hates his guts. This loser CAN'T be on the team next year, he SUCKS.
