Nice to have some data that supports the eye test. Cam has had his rough moments but he’s been completely fucked by all the drops.

  1. Even with adjusted EPA, Cam is bottom of the league. His team hasn’t helped him but he certainly isn’t helping his team.

  2. While there’s been a lot of drops. Cam needs to put some touch on these footballs. Just because it’s within the area of the receiver or it hit their hands doesn’t make it catchable.. these ball are coming in like 200 MpH, I would get it if it was like 1-2 or players unable to catch but it’s seems to be the whole damn team.

  3. Cam has had several balls he needs to take a little something off of, but the majority of drops have been 100% catchable and thrown with the right amount of power the throw requires. Both are true. He isn’t the most accurate, but he, for the most part, rifles it when the throw requires. Other teams in the league catch fastballs, we just don’t. It’s both/and, not either/or.

  4. It’s like some people don’t see the windows he’s trying to fit the ball into. Are they tough catches? Yea, but if the QB can fit the ball in, some of these dudes are gonna have to make a fucking play. Just because DHenry was getting trash run blocking at times didn’t stop him from gaining yards, nor did it stop CJ2K. Some guys just need to play above the situation. They can’t all be catches, but jesus, we need more than we’re currently getting.

  5. The 3 guys who caught every single ball that came their way in camp and preseason are all on the Titans Practice Squad. The guys who struggle with drops are all on the team.

If you throw Proche, Restrepo, hell even Kinsey out there, they are catching anything they get their mitts on.

  6. I have to see the context of each drop. Because drops are like sacks. Sometimes the line messes up and sometimes the quarterback holds the ball too long. Same with drops.

  7. It seems like the drops are both a Cam and a WR issue since a lot of Cam’s throws need better touch or are too fast while some are just inexcusable for the receiver to not catch.

What’s been the most frustrating is the throws that could definitely be a little more on point, but still hit the receiver in the hands and get dropped. Feels like Chig and Ridley (during Weeks 1-4) have accounted for so many of these.

  8. As far as his fast ball, remember stories of people talking about elway breaking fingers? His guys still caught passes though. Sure he’ll get better with his touch but a lot is about pressure being in his face constantly or him expecting that pressure and him feeling the need to dart it in as soon as a guy finally gets open.

  9. I don’t understand the “Cam needs to throw it slower” sentiment. Hasn’t he been throwing the same way all his life? His receivers in college caught these balls, no? Why are we expecting less from pros?

  10. Miami University receivers had a 4.7% drop rate last season. That was 30th best in the nation. Just saying. Seems to be a Titans issue.

  11. This idea that Cam is the first guy in the history of the sport to throw the ball fast on a slant or dig is dumb. He’s not throwing it harder than Elway, Stafford, or Favre, and those WRs figured out how to catch their balls. Some I get, but acting like we don’t see a WR bail out inaccurate passes every week from opposing teams is shortsighted.

  12. Y’all literally act like can there’s hard than every other QB on earth and never throws with touch lmao.

It’s simple – the Titans have bad receivers who have drop issues.

Idk why anyone would be lying to themselves about Ridley. He has had drop issues his entire career. Ayomanor had drop issues in college. But he’s been ok, not terrible for drops so far. Lockett and Van Jefferson are wastes of roster space….
