The Harsh Reality Of The New York Yankees…

Darke, let’s go, baby. Let’s go. Oh, the New York Yankees have done it again. 16 straight Major League Baseball seasons with no World Series victory. And we’ll see how Yankees fans feel about this video. Last year when I made this same video and said that the Yankees were not good enough to win moving forward, I actually got a lot of support from Yankees fans, which was very surprising. I wonder if I’m going to get the same response to this video. But it’s clear that the Yankees don’t have enough to win the World Series. They just don’t. Once again, the New York Yankees are not the powerhouse that they were in the early ‘9s and the ‘7s and the ’50s and the ’60s. They’re not the same team. They can spend. Sure, they can definitely spend, but they can’t even outspend their cross town rivals. I mean, how many times in recent years have the New York Mets outspent the New York Yankees? And that showed in this series against the Toronto Blue Jays. They just lost three games to one in the 4-ames series. And it was clear they were missing a guy like Juan Sodto. Aaron Judge actually showed up in this playoff series, which is a really big scary thing for the Yankees because I think he batted around 600 this postseason and they lost. They didn’t win. They didn’t win. They beat the Red Sox, which still hurts me a little bit. I am a Red Sox fan. They beat us. However, I’m not trying to make excuses. Our lineup sucked and we had a lot of injuries and it was basically an AL Central lineup, which is all the New York Yankees are allowed to beat in October. The Yankees just continued to get shut down. There wasn’t enough contributors outside of Aaron Judge on this team. Jazz Chisum Jr. was awful the entire playoffs. He made an error which really cost them in this final game. He did hit a go-ahead home run which ended up being the game-winning home run in game three. That was big. But Jazz was terrible. Cody Bellinger didn’t do much either, and he made a bad defensive play in game three, which made it look like that game was going to be ran away by the Blue Jays. The Yankees came back in that game and ended up winning, but Trent Gisham hit 30 home runs in the regular season. And he just didn’t show up in October like basically everyone else on the team. Paul Goldmid didn’t. Austin Wells didn’t. Anthony Vulpi didn’t, of course, because Anthony Vulpi isn’t a good baseball player. Remember when the Yankees decided that they weren’t going to sign Cory Seager because they had Anthony Vulpi? Remember that? I wonder how that worked out for those two teams. Did one of them win the World Series? I can’t remember. Well, if one of those teams did win the World Series, either the Texas Rangers or the New York Yankees, it wasn’t the New York Yankees because again, they haven’t won for 16 straight seasons. 16. The Yankees are just not that iconic franchise that they used to be. They’re not the prestige of Major League Baseball. They’re not the club that everyone is so afraid of. They’re just not. If you put the ball in play like the Toronto Blue Jays did, they’re going to lose. All the Yankees can do is out home run you. All that’s all they can do. They can out slug you in their tiny minor league stadium, which by the way is not nearly as good as old Yankee Stadium. And they can outexit velocity you. They can’t really do anything else. Sometimes they might be able to out pitch you because their rotation is pretty good, but what else can they do to beat you? They can’t put the ball in play. They can’t play defense. And they can’t manage to save their lives. This is not a good baseball team. Again, if they weren’t wearing the pinstripes, what would you think of this team? Would you even think that this is a playoff contender coming into next season? Would you think that they’re a World Series contender? Cuz I don’t think that you would. This team is only the brand that it is built on. I went to Italy over the summer and I counted how many Yankees fans I saw, how many Yankees hats I saw. It was around 250 in a week. Those people in Italy, they’re not Yankees fans. The New York Yankees as a brand is more focused on being a fashion statement and an iconic identity rather than being a baseball team that wins baseball games. How Stein Brener is not going to fire Aaron Boone. He’s not going to fire Brian Cashman. And year after year, these two men combine to not be good enough. I don’t know where this team thinks that they’re going to be able to win. Again, they’re losing Cody Bellinger and Trent Gisham in free agency as of right now. Obviously, they can bring them back, but let’s see what Trent Gisham was making. Trent Gisham was making just over 5 million. Jazz Chisome was making just over 5 million as well. And there’s a few other players that are making not nearly as much as they’re going to be making in 2026. The 2026 payroll is already high. It’s already over 200 million before even adding in arbitration numbers, which again are going to be very high. Garrick Cole will be coming back, but I don’t know what you’re going to be able to get out of Garrick Cole. He’s old and he’s coming off of Tommy John surgery. He’s already 35 years old. He’s going to be pitching his age 35 season. Do you really think that he’s going to come back and be this all-time good pitcher like he was before getting injured? Because in 2024, he already was kind of taking a little bit of a step back. There’s no guarantee that him coming back off of Tommy John is going to be a huge addition to the rotation. I hope for his sake that he is healthy and he is a contributor next year at some point. I don’t think it’s going to be opening day and I don’t think he’s going to come back and be that flamethrower that we saw him be for all those years. John Carlos Stanton is injuryprone. We all know that. Aaron Judge, he had another healthy season and this guy is just absolutely incredible. I don’t know if he’s ever going to hit an age wall. It doesn’t feel like he’s going to at this point, but at some point he can’t hit 50 home runs every year, you would think. And I’m not sure what they’re going to do with that elbow over the off season. They might get a Tommy John surgery on the elbow. I’m not sure if they do that. It’s kind of concerning what his season’s going to look like next year and if he’s going to be able to play the outfield. If he gets Tommy John, he won’t be able to play the outfield and he’ll have to go to first base. And again, if he goes to first base, that’s a problem because what are they going to do with Ben Rice and Austin Wells and all of these players that they have already? Baseball Reference projects them to be at around 54 million in arbitration costs next year. And if everyone opts into their contracts, which Cody Bellinger probably won’t, I can’t imagine. And then maybe you can save 5 million on Lisa, you will be at 265 million. However, you can shave 30 million of that off. But you’re losing Cody Bellinger and Trent Gisham and you’re already only 10 million below the luxury tax. And in 2027, it gets even worse. And in 2028, it gets even worse again. You’re going to be sitting at 154 million in arbitration projections in 2028. These guys are all going to be on arbitration 3. Guys like Luis Heel, Anthony Vulpe, Fernando Cruz, who knows if he’s going to be here, but there’s a lot of guys that are going to be sitting in arbitration and it’s going to be very bad for them. And that’s before they even add anything. I’m sure they’re going to go out and they have to find a way to replace Cody Bellinger and Trent Gisham’s home runs again. All they can do is hit home runs to win games. So now they need to replace around 60 home runs. Trent Gisham hit 30 and I believe Cody Bellinger hit 30, didn’t he? Yeah, Cody Bellinger hit 29 home runs. So that’s over 60 home runs that you’re going to have to figure out a way to replace. And Carlos Rodon had a really good season, the best of his Yankee career. But can he do that again? I don’t know. Max Freed had what felt like a career year, but can he do that again? I don’t know. But nothing improved. What improved with the 2025 Yankees? Nothing. I can seriously what improved. And they have more free agents, too. It’s not just that. Cody Bellinger, who was really good against lefties this year, he’s a free agent. Devin Williams, who was not good for the Yankees this year, but he was really good in the playoffs. He’s a free agent. Luke Weaver, who also wasn’t that good this year, but he was really, really good for them last year. Free agent. Ahmed Rosario, their lefty killer, free agent, but they can probably bring him back again. Trent Gisham, Cody Bellinger, both free agents. That’s a pretty big free agency class when you don’t have money to spend. I don’t know how Steinbrunner said that he doesn’t go over $300 million in luxury tax thresholds. So, they’re only working with a little over $50 million to spend. Cody Bellinger alone is probably going to be almost 30 $35 million. Trent Gisham will probably get 20 million from somebody and with that that’s all your money. You’re already at 300 million and that’s adding nothing. And I’m sure I’m going to get comments about Spencer Jones and George Lombard. George Lombard I think is a pretty solid player. Spencer Jones at best he’s Joey Gallow like at best. And I don’t think he’s that great of a defender and I don’t think his eye is that great. He whiffs more than anyone in minor league baseball. If you think he’s going to come up into MLB and dominate, he’s not. He can’t make contact. How is that going to play when it doesn’t play in AAA against 92 mph fast balls? I understand that he crushes the baseball. I understand that his batting stance is the same as Aaron Judge. He’s not going to be an elite prospect. I will say that Cam Schlitler at least did break out. That guy’s going to be really good. And it’s a good thing for him that he won his World Series by beating the Boston Red Sox because he was born in Massachusetts and not Boston. But he says that he’s from Boston, so whatever. Good for Cam. He won his first World Series, the first World Series in Yankees franchise history over the last 16 years. Good job, Cam Schlitler. But in all honesty, he did break out and he does look like he’s going to be disgusting. They also had a couple of other prospects break out as well, like Elmer Rodriguez Cruz, who was traded for Carlos Narvz, who broke out for the Red Sox. They did beat the Red Sox in the playoffs. That’s not something that we can take away from them. They did win a playoff series once again. And for like the 31st year in a row or something ridiculous, they didn’t have a losing record. Are they going to have a losing record in 2026? Probably not. Are they going to be good enough to win the World Series? No. Are they going to be good enough to win the American League pennant? I doubt it. I just don’t know what this team can do. They are not a fundamentally good baseball team. They are a company that strives on brand recognition and not baseball talent. If Anthony Vulpi is the starting shortstop in New York next year, they will never win another World Series maybe ever again under Hal Steinbrunner. I don’t know how Anthony Vulpi could be the starting shortstop. I don’t know how that bullpen can get improved either because they have good names in that bullpen. It was awful. It was so bad again. And the Toronto Blue Jays were not projected to be a team that made it to the playoffs. You know who was the New York Yankees. And who eliminated who again? Um Vlad, can you help me out here? The Yankees lose. The Yose lose. Let’s go, baby. What you doing? Oh yeah, the Yankees lost. Okay, well that’s about all the rambling I can do about the New York Yankees. They’re not special in terms of baseball talent. They’re just not. They beat the Red Sox. They won their World Series. I get it. They haven’t done that in 21 years either. So, I understand it’s been very difficult for them to beat their so-called rivals when it’s been a pretty one-sided rivalry in the postseason over the past 20 years. But either way, I don’t know what to say. They at least they at least they got that Cam Schlitler. I’m happy for you. He was throwing way harder versus the Red Sox than he was versus the Blue Jays. If that doesn’t show that beating the Red Sox was their World Series, I don’t know what to tell you. Once again, the New York Yankees, they’re a branded giant. They’re not a baseball giant anymore. Keep saying your 27 rings. It’s going to remain 27 for a while because this team just doesn’t have it. They don’t. 27 will be remaining in New York at least for 2025 and probably for the rest of the decade because because the New York Yankees, they’re not that

In 2025, the New York Yankees, despite a strong 94-68 regular season, faced significant failures that defined their campaign. They lost the AL East title to the Toronto Blue Jays via a head-to-head tiebreaker, forcing them into the Wild Card Series. Their postseason ended abruptly in the ALDS, where the Blue Jays dominated them in four games, outscoring them 34-19, highlighted by a 5-2 loss in Game 4. The Yankees’ starting pitchers struggled immensely, with Luis Gil, Max Fried, and Carlos Rodón combining for a 16.88 ERA in crucial games, while a critical defensive error by Jazz Chisholm Jr. in Game 4’s seventh inning allowed Toronto to seal the series. Despite Aaron Judge’s .500 batting average and a key three-run homer, the offense couldn’t overcome these pitching and defensive shortcomings, extending the Yankees’ World Series drought to 16 years.

  1. 1:03 just because Papa Cohen and Bear Stearns can outspend Hal Steinbrenner doesn’t mean they aren’t forever cursed with LOLMets. If you look at number 5 or 6 on the payroll chart you’ll see a familiar bird.

  2. It's funny how a succesful season for the Red Sox is losing to their rivals in the first round but every year for the Yankees if you don't win the World Series it's a failure

  3. Brand doesn’t win games- they won games. There are legitimate roster issues but you lost credibility taking it too far. Also, after the all star break this was a very good defensive team and baserunning team along with a high slugging team

  4. Why won’t Hal Steinbrenner fire Aaron Boone and Brian cashman? They’re not winning a championship with those guys changes have to happen or nothing will change. He can’t keep them around because they’re friends that’s not a reason. The goal is winning a championship not keeping your friends around. A World Series is more important than keeping Brian cashman and Aaron Boone around. They need to sell the team.

  5. Why pay hundreds of dollars to a star player? I agree those big players make people happy but that’s just too much. A few players take most of the payrolls and if they underperform, people complain. Hope they find some reasonable range of payment.

  6. Not sure why people around the world who couldn't name any Yankee outside of Judge feel it's an iconic fashion statement to wear a hat with a symbol vaguely resembling a Swastika.

  7. Ok, now do a video on how the red Sox will win the WS next year and Meyer and Anthony are the next nomar and Ramirez and how all their pitching is gunna surround crochet who will once again be at the top of the majors in innings pitched. Ohh wait, they have no pitching, crochet is a TJ candidate on an accelerated path with his usage. Bergman will opt out or get extended (hopefully) and quickly regress into his mid 30s. Anthony looks intriguing but so did ellsbury when he played. Meyer was supposed to be this transcendent player who took longer than volpe to get called up because he was getting exposed with every minor league promotion. Make no mistake, this Yankee team was severely flawed, but to say that it was a total fluke is false. Also, no one has ever had a $150 million arb class and volpe is likely to be moved this off-season. Unless you're figuring skenes to be part of that Yankee arb figure, I think they will be alright there. Look forward to hearing how next year they will smoke and mirror their way into a better season than your expert projection figures

  8. Everyone in the world knows the Yankees are a terrible playoff team , this is not news lol probably won’t see them in the playoffs for a while now

  9. 3:20
AKA the sole reason why Erron Fudge finally homered. It's almost comical how his bat only wakes up during the playoffs when the field’s dimensions are kind to him. Any other ballpark, he'd be sending feeble flyouts into the sky. Let's not forget, even Volpe found success with a homer in that glorified little league wonderland.

  10. Y’all needa stop bashing Yankee Stadium when Fenway has a shorter RF distance rhan Yankee Stadium. 399 to left center, one of the deepest, and the vast majority of the league is right handed. So when people bitch about Yankee Stadium, it makes no sense. So get over it. Other than that, I agree w this entire video

  11. It’s not all about spending.
It’s about development of farm system. It’s the approach to the game. It’s not all or nothing home run approach at bat. It’s work the count. Slap pitches. Put the bat on the ball.
Let’s work on fundamentals. Defense is atrocious sometimes.
It’s not just the players. The Yankees management needs to rework how the franchise approaches the game.

  12. I think you have a lot of points, but I also think you aren't giving the Bluejays enough props. They're better then you think and they are about to run through the Mariners.

  13. I'll take a team of scrappy players who can bunt, move players around, sacrifice flies, stealing bases, hit and runs and clutch hits. Keep developing young pitchers and players who have great fundamentals. A team were maybe 8 guys have 15 homeruns not one guy with 60. A team batting average of 280 not 250. I'm not against Home Runs I'm against strikeout or homeruns. The problem is the Yankees don't like going 3-5 years trying to develop a youth moment and not making a playoff like the early 90s. So, we will go through the same thing year after year with a lucky chance to win a WS. Another note in a random year I looked at Yankee team batting average in 1986 it was 296! boy batting average has come way down in MLB a sickness of HR or strikeout

  14. Ortiz is cringe as hell. Dude won't let it go that he did nothing at Boston compared to his Yankees counterparts of the time.

The current Yankees roster has no relationship with him and don't think about him, yet he doesn't shut up with his cringe.

The Junkies have been done for years, they haven't won a WS in a looooong time. Loud obnoxious fans doesn't equal a big team. They aren't anymore

  15. I was born and raised in Italy. The NY hats are mostly worn as an expression of appreciation for New York City or Manhattan, which are seen as cool places and symbols of the American dream — probably an image sold to us through TV and movies. People don’t wear them because they know who the Yankees are as a baseball team; in fact, most don’t know much about baseball at all.

  16. You saw 20 NY Yankees fans in Italy??? So you think that here baseball is so popular to have thousands of fans of your boring slow sport??? Nah man, we have football which is actually played with feet.😂😂😂
