With LeBron being injured i don’t know how you think trading away AR is a good idea.
Expecting Giannis to go for Reaves and Rui is kinda like if the Rockets expected to get Luka for Amen Thompson
If Vando has a huge season then maybe nobody gets traded but at his time, the team looks like all offense and no defense
Just to clarify for the morons ahead of time: OP is not saying we’ll get Giannis for AR and Rui. He’s just saying we shouldn’t give them up unless there’s some workable trade for a star.
I can see them trading Rui if it brings them an actual upgrade piece like a legit 3+d wing.
Reaves and Rui are dependable players for us with clear roles and chemistry with our star players. They should absolutely not be on the trading block unless it’s for a big roster shaking trade that nets us Luka’s co-star for the next 3+ years. Otherwise we may just be trading one set of issues for another set of issues. And who knows if chemistry will be the same afterwards
I would happily trade Rui for Wiggins.
The only untouchables are Luka and LeBron. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional. Especially given players’ contract situations.
Also, the same people who won’t consider trading Reaves will be the first to yell “he doesn’t deserve THAT money” when his contract is up.
I’d trade Rui for Mikal Bridges
If you’re trading for a second option star (e.g Giannis, although I prefer a few other names), then what teams will want are a. valuable picks and b. young players (and actually YOUNG, not Dalton Knecht “young”). Reaves Rui and 3 FRPs is a decent haul, but I do wonder if it’s enough to get someone like Evan Mobley or Giannis or whomever if there’s a real bidding war.
This is why I think it makes sense to consider Reaves and Rui trades for younger players and assets. If you can do something like the Dejounte for Dyson trade where you target a young promising player and get assets, then you can contend AND refresh your assets.
Point is a blanket “NEVER TRADE RUI AND REAVES UNLESS YOU GET JOKIC!!!!” is dumb and Pelinka shouldn’t hold that position internally (of course do it externally)
AR is optional only as long as Lebrons on the floor.
1. He might get injured with his age
2. Hes gonna retire soon anyway
You have a very skillful offensive playmaker in AR, why da f would you trade him?
If anything we need them more for the post-LeBron era.
Reaves would be an all-star on the bulls 😂
If the goal is to improve the team, then offering the two most desirable players not named LeBron and Luka is the only way. Expiring contracts have value, but I doubt most teams will be willing to give up a lot for them, same with those picks if Luka plans to be on the team for the rest of his career.
Not even Gianis though
Rui is way more expandable than AR. So I’ll only partially agree. AR isn’t going unless it’s for a star, Rui can go for an upgrade or better fit
If the salary cap worked, there are at least 50 players the Lakers would trade either of them for and at least 25 they would trade both for.
Yalls still on this Rui train huh lol
Whats with lakers fans thinking getting 2 top 5 players is at all possible? All I hear is “after lebron retires we auto collect jokic or giannis”.
I would trade Reaves for Quentin Grimes straight up right now
Who do you guys think Rui is
But what if they walk for nothing
Hypothetically if this has to go through, what could be a realistic trade?
Ah yes if we want a repeat of the 2004 Lakers, sure lets do that.
Rui can go for wiggins mid season
Reaves can go for Giannis next summer
Rui for Giannis, Reaves for Jokic.
Reaves is 100% getting traded at the deadline
No Rui is not being traded for exclusively a superstar you twit
id trade the whole roster except luka for giannis. like what is this?
Well then we’re never trading Rui and Austin
LA being in a position of needing to trade one or both of them for a big star is a tough spot. With how stacked the best teams are you need players of their caliber to just shift down in the pecking order of the roster talent. Ideally adding with draft assets and money would boost the roster to the next level but virtually impossible
