It’s opening night here at Rogers Arena. Nothing real better. Man, is it always fun when the season begins. The vibes in the room are really good right now. Guys know exactly what’s expected of them and we want to come out uh with a strong start. Just focus on the process there in the zone and ready to go. [Music] to you. [Music] [Applause] So, what do you think Brady’s going to be doing throughout the season tonight? He should just enjoy it because he’s going to play a long time, but you only have one first game. He’s there because we believe in what he can do and he’s got a great support around him. And it’s not just one player, it’s the whole group out on that ice that will make his life easier. [Music] I’ve always think you have butterflies. Uh it’s a great time here of the year in Vancouver for starting up the season. excitement around the city and uh excitement around the team and I think the players and the staff are excited to get going here. [Music] [Music] What are you doing? Okay, you’re a winner. You’re a winner. Opening night in the National Hockey League for the team you you follow or the team you cover is it’s almost like Christmas, you know? It really is. It’s so exciting and it’s almost a different vibe in the air. [Applause] Now, let’s meet your 2025 2026 Vancouver Conucks. 30 years ago to this very day, the first puck was dropped in this great arena. We are thrilled to have members of the 199596 team joining us tonight. Conucks Nation. Welcome back to Rogers Arena for the 2025 2026 season opener. Braden Coops makes his first regular season NHL faceoff win. Sherwood is there. Here’s Okconor to Sherwood in on the right wing. Kefir Sherwood shoots. scores. Careerhigh 19 goals last season. He’s got the first of the year for the Conucks. And it’s one- nothing Vancouver. Here’s Coleman ahead of the play. It’s a breakaway. Short-handed stopped by Demco. Rebounded back came Heedle to maybe save a goal. Power he has in the faceoff circle. Back to Cornado. Shoots. Blocked by Baines. It off his skate. Back up. Cadry. Cornado. Blocked by Baines again. Nice move to the middle. Heedle on the backhand puts it on the forehand. Lock that hit ball. Heedle scores on the rebound with ball down. Heedle put it home. Feed breakaway. Heedle in. Feeders. His second of the period. And Philip Heedle makes it three nothing Canucks. Here’s Hughes towards the net. Backhander off the post. Three nothing. Heel through the crease. He hit a body and just went behind for Kane to the middle. Score Leer Mackey [Music] on the stick. Off the stick. The setup from Evander Kane. And Leer Mackey makes it four nothing. And over the Calgary line. Besser takes the drop pass. He shoots. He scores. Brock Besser with his ninth career season opener goal. That’s a franchise record. He makes it five to one. Give them a lot to cheer about on opening three. Adam Cook gets his first win behind the bank with revenge stat who’s passed Richard Broaddor on the alltime wins list. A twogoal effort for Philip Heedle to pace the Canucks in the third. 5-1 winning effort for the Canucks over Calgary. Uh I felt like when we we needed that second goal to really settle the nerves down a little bit and once we got that it seemed like we uh played with a little bit more confidence. I think Demer was just solid. There’s a wall. There was confidence. He made first save look like a routine. I think the first game is huge. It’s a testament to to the work that everyone kind of put in this summer and then through camp. So, obviously 81 left, but uh it has a first one for sure.

Relive the action from the Vancouver Canucks 2025.26 Home Opener at Rogers Arena, as the Canucks defeat the Calgary Flames 5-1, with a big night from the likes of Filip Chytil & Thatcher Demko.

  1. Canucks win over the Flames was more luck than effort and skill. Tonight, the Oilers will humiliate the Canucks. You heard it here first!
