Stephenson was a brick wall behind the plate this year

His defense was better than I thought

Yeah he threw guys out like a brick wall too😂
What’s the other picture? Is this comparing him 2025/2024 or him and Trevino?
Blocks matter, but framing and receiving is more important i would say. I worry about ty steve, weaker catcher defense and a potentially solid bat.
Can someone explain the context of the numbers? I get that a bigger bar is better but don’t understand anything else
While I’m sure some of this is some improvement by Tyler, some of this is Francona putting him in better situations too.
2024 he caught every pitcher fairly heavily. 2025, he primarily caught Abbott, Greene, Littell and a little bit of Martinez whole he was a starter. The ones that have the harder pitches to block, Lodolo and Singer were caught by Trevino at least 75% of their games. Â
He’s also a brick wall in the batters box staring at fastballs down the middle for strikes one and two and then feels like he has to swing at anything for strikes three.
