What a bitch manny. Pitch wasn’t even fucking close
This was up to the time the craziest thing I’d seen during a sports game.
That Manny. What an asshole.
Peak rivalry years lol
Within two minutes of this happening I was dragged into a fight at the Cask ‘n Flagon, trying to help this Suffolk University law student wearing a Posada jersey not be killed by some inbred fucks from Revere.
I still have a little spot of blood, probably from the law student, on the sleeve of my Jeter jersey which I still wear but can’t button anymore.
Can’t believe this was 22 years ago.
Peak. Legendary players both sides. Miss it
God I miss teams hating each other like this. Peak baseball.
Watching this shit live as a kid was epic man.
I was 15 and don’t think I’d ever been that angry before, certainly over sports. Indelible memory!
Karim Garcia
That’s a name I haven’t heard in a very long time.
Him and Nelson got probation for beating that groundskeeper, IIRC
Just wanted to drop in and say how big of a piece of shit Jason veritek is, and no I won’t be elaborating further
“Who is Karim Garcia?”
Baseball really did a great job of making sure its entertainment value went straight to zero.
Clemens was the man on those teams. Had his guy’s backs .
My hot take is that everyone is way too forgiving of Pedro for this incident, which he caused in the first place by throwing at the Yankees again and again and again.
Was Don Zimmer way out of pocket charging at him? For sure.
But there are plenty of other ways to handle the situation than “grab a 72 year old man by the head and throw him to the ground.”
It’s insane that Pedro wasn’t suspended for this, obviously it worked out well for us but he shouldn’t have been allowed to start game 7.
As a Yankees fan, I miss early 2000s baseball. The current team is too nice. George would’ve burned the whole place down after 2011.
It was 2003, but I donlt think it was “on this day”.
That pitch isn’t even close to his head.
If Clemens wanted to bean you he probably would’ve came closer than 2 ft.
People said that Joe Buck was biased against the Yankees but he sure seemed concerned about Don Zimmer.
The rivalry of my childhood
Manny being a bitch as usual. Wasn’t even close but his roid rage and then David Ortiz holding him back escalated this
Now Pedro’s fatter than Zimmer ever was.
Man that era of baseball is what made me such a diehard. I was 9 but the hatred I learned for Boston made every game a must watch. Even when they ran 4.5 hours and I was staying up past my bed time.
I so wish Pedro would have had step in to bat against Clemens and vice versa..but then I bet Pedro would never have thrown at the guy’s head
Those were the days…
It’s hilarious seeing this clip again and seeing the pitch to Manny was no where near his head. Just Manny being Manny.
Fuck the Red Sox.
The Yankees are Pedro Martinez’s daddy.
David Ortiz used steroids.
Zim!
Pedro was very lucky this was the Yankees, if he threw any other old man to the ground he would have been destroyed by the media, but it was the evil Yankees and everyone let it go.
The Red Sox were such insecure bitches it’s insane. The town of Boston in general has a massive inferiority complex and rightfully so, but this was the absolute peak of their little man complex.
Kids (by which, in this context, I mean under 30 give or take):
When you hear us greybeards lamenting that today’s Yankees “don’t have the fire,” this is what we’re talking about.

It happened in May and helped anneal the guys into a real team. You wanna know how they won 125 games that year? Look at Graeme Lloyd’s face in that video.
Now ask yourself if today’s tea-and-toast Yankees have any of that in them. Any of that.
How could you not hate the Red Sox?
These groups of guys genuinely hated one another, the game honestly needs a little more of this these days. Without pitches thrown at the head, bc fuck that.
This was the good old days. When you knew boston was coming, you knew drama was coming..
Now we have to worry about toronto
If I remember correctly, when it all got settled Manny struck out
Boone’s home run must’ve hit like crack with all this happening earlier in the series
Who won the game?
i never understood the back story on the bullpen fight? did one of the Fenway park workers get in with the Yankee relievers?
Pedro Martinez is the single biggest piece of wet pig shit ever to play baseball. Throwing 81 year old Don Zimmer to the ground like that. Motherfucker. It’s too bad Martinez didn’t get rectal cancer and die in agony.
I’ll never forget watching live as Zimmer rolls over the mound from Pedro lol
i remember watching this on TV and it was so awesome
Pedro the biggest scumbag of all time
The Clemens pitch wasn’t even close
Roid rage by Manny and I have always said this that there was no reason for Pedro to take down Zimmer. That old man wasn’t going to do anything to Pedro but he was so full of anger and hate. U can tell by looking at his face before he took Zimmer down. One of the greatest pitchers but also dirty.
Fuck yeah
Right about now Karin Garcia would be leading off for the Yankees
