Charles Barkley Rips Giannis’ “Entitlement” in Possibly Ditching MIL to Ring Chase | Rich Eisen Show

What did you make of the honest conversation about possibly wanting to be in a trade to the Knicks? It’s interesting how these guys, they feel like they’re entitled to play for the championship every year. As a great player, you should feel like I’m a great player. If I get any help with going to win, and you got to give Milwaukee Bucks credit. I wish the person love me as much as the Bucks love Giannis. I really do. They went out and got him Dane Lillard. They went out and got a Miles Turner. They have done everything possible to try to make the Bucks win again. So, the notion that he don’t feel like they’re doing everything in their power. They have done everything. Seriously, I want a person to love me as much as the Bucks love Yiannis. Uh it’s unfortunate that he feel like he’s entitled to win the championship every year. Everybody wants to win the championship, but the Bucks have done everything they possibly could. It’s disheartening for me to hear him thinking like if we don’t win the championship this year, I want to be out of here. That’s I I hate hearing that. You have to wonder with that situation what the Bucks would do then. I mean, how they would rebuild if they were to move him out. When you trade a great player like that, you’re going to go to the bottom of the pile. That’s just the bottom line. I u I think that I don’t think they own a draft pick for like the next five or six years. I hope he stays in Milwaukee. Uh cuz he’s a great player and he’s a great kid, too. Great kid. Great kid. I love everything about Giannis. He plays hard every night. But I just find it fascinating when these guys feel like I’m entitled to win a championship every or you know what, I want to

  1. Very skewed perspective here. Giannis does feel like he should win championships every year because the Bucks are capable. The problem really is that they cant even win one series in the playoffs. They havent even been back to the ECF after winning in 2021. Also, the reason he has stayed is BECAUSE he knows Milwaukee CAN win, and he knows his best chance to win another chip is to stay in the system that has helped make him a winner before.

  2. In 1996, Charles Barkley was in his 13th year in the NBA and 4th season with the Phoenix Suns. He knew that he didn’t have much time left in the league, and with no championship hopes in sight, Barkley wanted to move on from the Suns organization.

So that same summer, Barkley made it known that he wanted to jump to a contending team (ironic for someone who classified what a bus driver is in this league) even if it meant giving up more money.

Barkley then informed Suns management that he wanted to join Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls, who at that time had just won their 4th championship. According to Sir Charles, his ultimate dream was to play alongside Jordan. Unfortunately, the Bulls didn’t have the assets to acquire the Suns forward, so he expanded his choices to the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets instead.

“Barkley has named the Bulls, Knicks and Rockets as teams he’d play for. The Bulls’ problem is they have little other than Toni Kukoc for the Suns to accept. The Knicks appear to have the best shot with three first-round picks this season and a willingness to deal John Starks and Anthony Mason, or Charles Oakley,” According to Chicago Tribune’s Sam Smith.

Barkley ended up with the Rockets, where he eventually finished his career. However, his goal to win a championship never came to fruition despite that being the reason why he wanted out of the Suns in the first place. Sir Charles had a decent tenure in Houston, where he averaged 16.5 points, 12.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game in his 4-year stint, but ultimately, father time sneaked up to him before he knew it.

Considering what Barkley went through, it’s ironic how he nagged Kevin Durant about his inability to lead a team to a championship — when in the first place, that’s exactly what Barkley failed to do. At one point, the Hall-of-Famer even said he would sit games off and play golf instead if he didn’t get traded to the team he wanted to.

“I would trade money for the right to win a championship,” Barkley said. “I’d like to have a shot. If they want to trade me to a team that has a chance, I’ll go. If they want to trade me just anywhere, I’ll sit home and play golf and see if NBC can use me,” Barkley added.

Not my comment by the way, I figured that people need to know this is exactly the type of guy Charles Barkley was in the NBA. For as much he loves to bash guys who team hop to chase for championships, you'd think he'd be different. The guy legitimately threatened to retire if the Suns didn't trade him to a contender in 96'

  3. I agree with Chuck here Giannis needs to stop playing mind games and sign the contract hes not special if I was Milwaukee start.preparing themselves and look for great offers from other team if Giannis doesn't sign that extension.

  4. Giannias got them a ring. Something Chuck never did for his teams. Chuck is a massive hypocrite here as he desperately tried to ring chase at the end of his career.

  5. Here is Wisconsin we absolutely love what Giannis brings to our state and our fans. He’s a great person who cares about being decent, I’d even have a hard time believing he wants out that bad, same thing with Rodgers. They probably both wanted to finish their careers in the same spot.
