MLB Now | Yankees are DONE – Buck Martinez BOLD CLAIMS Blue Jays will sweep Yankees in the Bronx
17 years in the majors, longtime broadcaster, the ultimate professional. I’ve worked with him. It’s always a pleasure. Buck, it’s Brian Kenny. Thanks for joining us. Great to be with you, BK. Buck, you were a little pointed there. Uh, it got a little attention. Now, again, I don’t think like we didn’t disagree with you. We’ve been hitting our Yankees on that. It seems like they’ve gotten a little more basebally. Your thoughts on what you said there a few weeks ago? Yeah, at that time, you know, the Yankees had a rough stretch in the middle of the summer where they were making a lot of errors and they were allowing a lot of extra bases on balls in the dirt and wild pitches and, you know, I just made a comment of what I had seen, you know, and and this played itself out last year in the World Series and obviously against the Dodgers. Yeah. But kicked it around. Honestly, lately they’ve been playing much better defense. You know, Anthony Vi has only committed two errors in the postseason and he has only made three errors in his last 45 games this season in the regular season. So they’ve tightened it up. Certainly Ron McMahon helps a lot. But you know, Aaron Boon, I met with him before game one in Toronto. Went into his office and we were having a little media scrum and he looked at me and said, “There’s a guy that doesn’t like my team.” And he said, “I don’t like your hair either.” So now we’re even. You’ve been around too long. It seemed like there is like a little war of words between broadcasters though. Like Michael K was, to be fair, Michael K was talking about run differential, but then it was like your guy Jamie Campbell came back with a broom when you got when the Blue Jays swept four from the Yankees. What I the real animosity is it like anchor man where you might like drop down into a gang fight like as soon as you see each other? No, I don’t think so. And I know the players don’t care what we say. They’re worried about the opposition. They want to worry about They care a little bit. They They care. They They hear what you say, though. They hear, right? Oh, absolutely. They hear. There’s no question about they hear everything. But you know what? These two teams are pretty evenly matched. And George Springer said it best. He says, “I know we’re up two games to none in the series, but I’m playing it like a zero. The Yankees are tough.” And it’s going to be an interesting night in the Bronx tonight. Uh your take on these first two games where again, the Yankees look quite good against the Red Sox. They turn around and they get their doors blown off. So what’s been happening with the And you know, historically, as you know, Buck like a lot of times the division champion is sitting around the whole week. They’re not quite revved up. Blue Jays look tremendous. Why? What happened? Well, Brian, John Snder did a great job. The Blue Jays played a couple of inner squad games and they piped in crowd noise. They invited fans to come to Rogers Center and watch the two inner squad games. And more than anything, I think Vlatty really needed the break. Vlatty Guerrero was struggling second half of September and he really didn’t hit the ball very hard. But boy, did he get things started. his first at bat in the postseason hit his first postseason home run and he’s been on fire ever since. He hit the first grand slam in blue franchise history and that’s pretty interesting when you consider 92 and 93 World Series champs with all those great hitters. But Vlatty is the key to this team and obviously he loves hitting against the Yankees. He loves in Yankee Stadium and he’s always been able to rise to the occasion even though he had a bad finish to the regular season. He’s gotten fire once again in the regular in the postseason. Obviously, you know, it’s I try to stay away from, you know, the easy narratives. I’m also against signing monstrous contracts, but Buck, it looks like it looks like the like the importance of signing him long-term, sent a message, he’s grown up, and it’s like this is like it looks like everything is working the way it’s supposed to when you sign your own guy to a superstar contract. Yeah. And you know what? If Rally had not signed with the Blue Jays, I think it would have taken him years to overcome the loss of his presence. He’s just 26 years old. He’s done so much already. You forget the fact he’s still probably not hit his prime. I think there’s a lot of upside to Vlatty Guerrero’s game. I don’t think anybody enjoys playing the game as much as Vlatty. Whether he’s playing on defense, running the bases, at the plate, he enjoys the game of baseball so much that he’s a joy to watch. And I think he’s a real big part of this team. Of course, you can’t overlook what George Springer has done during the regular season. George is phenomenal. He’s had a great season. First time in his career. He’s hit 300 and he certainly has had a lot to do with the way this team has played down the stretch and into the postseason. Buck, your thoughts on Bo Bashette, his health, when when do you think he’ll be back? And what for being up there again? You’re broadcasting all these games. What is the thought about retaining him? I know he’s going to be a free agent, but any thoughts of keeping that window together for those two guys, not just the one guy? Yeah, you know, first um we’ll talk about his health and I think it would be a stretch for him to get back. Obviously, he’s not in this series. Uh you’d love for him to get back in a championship series if the Blue Jays advance, but I still think it’s a long shot. You know, he’s not running yet. He’s swinging the bat a little bit, but he had a significant injury and it happened right here in New York against the Yankees early in September. So, um I think it’s a long shot. Um you know, they miss his presence. He’s one of the best hitters in the game and he hits good pitching and he comes up big in tough situations, but I think it would be a real stretch if he gets back for this postseason. Okay. And yeah, I I think they would love to sign him to keep Bo and Vlatty together. You know, these two kids grew up in the organization. They they kind of mirror one another. They’re like brothers and I would love to see Bose stay in Toronto. 17 years in the majors, longtime broadcaster, the ultimate professional. I’ve worked with him. It’s always a pleasure. Buck. It’s Brian Kenny. Thanks for joining us. Great to be with you, BK. Buck, you were a little pointed there. Uh, it got it got a little attention. Yankees aren’t a good ball team
Buck is a hack…
So this video plays twice and he never says they will get swept, what a joke
Buck is a loser. He still stings from the time we obliterated his KC Royals back in the day.
We're going to walk Vladdy 4 times tonight.
I'm willing to concede the yankees are good. But they aren't a great team. The jays are great. The dodgers are great. The brewers are great. The yankees are not great… just good.
YORSH!
Go Blue Jay's Go!!! Any team playing against the Yankees is who I'm rooting for, just like any NHL team playing against the Montreal Canadiens!!! They've both won enough already. And without a salary cap, the Yankees always have the upper hand with endless cash to spend on free agents and re-signing great players.
Does anybody check these subtitles? You realize you wrote 'Boba shit' instead of Bo Bichette!
Not that …😁
That tag line shows the cheap shot rhetoric of the idiots needing something say ….. even if it is UNINSPIRING mathematical CAPTAIN OBVIOUS bullshit ! Get a grip, fool. The yanks have dug their own grave. They will or will not survive against a great team dialed in and confident ….. unless the Yankees deal out their own ass whipping for the TEAM THAT FAILED TO PUT THEM AWAY …. just nipped the yank with all their troubles, injuries, player moves and worst hitting in clutch / men on base …woes and worries TIED* for lead in AL East….. seems like only low life sentiment calls this lopsided series. Shame on you all.
Bo Bichette: ❌
Boba Shit: ✅
Buck rules.
Stop . Be honest
What really annoys me about this is the fact that the Yankees are just proving him right over and over. If Michael Kay said this about another team it would piss them off and they’d smoke the Yankees. Wanna shut Buck up? Prove him wrong. This is coming from a Yankees fan.
Boba shit is the shit
Watching game 3 right now Jays are up 6-1 in the third.
"BUCK WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING!"
