This is BRUTAL… – MULTIPLE Blues updates

This is brutal as Jim Montgomery and the St. Louis Blues give multiple updates heading into game two. With a key injury to the lineup and a player set to make his season debut, the St. Louis Blues have a lot of decisions to make going in to try to secure their first win of the season. We’re going to break down this injury, the player coming in to fill the position, and so much more, including goalie talk in this episode. You’re not going to want to miss it. So dear, let’s just dive straight into it today where we know the St. Louis Blues are going into game two versus the Calgary Flame at 300 PM CT today. And the biggest thing is, listen, game one is a write-off at this point. We know the St. Louis Blues played terribly. We know the Minnesota Wild were quite hot, but going into this game, we’re going to see some new faces and injuries to the lineup. We can see Torbchenko is questionable for Saturday’s game with not only an upper body but also a lower body injury. Losing him out of the lineup is going to hurt for the Blues. The big Russian forward does have some snarl to his game. We know this. He can put up points. He’s not going to score you 20 goals. But losing a consistent body that we seen season after season with the St. Louis Blues playing in 80 games just last season. What is your thoughts of him coming out of this lineup before we get into who replaces them and so much more? What is your initial thoughts on not only an upper but a lower body injury as well? Yeah, so soon into this young season, we already have so much movement within the lineup and we’ll get to that in a second. But when I was looking at the, you know, the injury and that it was reported that he was out and going to miss some time. I was wondering what the injury was and how he sustained it and I was like, I wonder if it’s like his leg or something like that. Turns out he’s just simply injured. He’s injured everywhere, upper and lower body at this point. But hopefully he’s okay soon. There’s no real timeline, I guess, in terms of his return. doesn’t seem like it’s anything significant. We have seen some significant injuries around the league so far. Just two, you know, in some cases one game into the season. So, uh, not great, that’s for sure. And you never want to lose any player, especially a top player, but any player in that regard for the Blues. And, uh, he’s a great player on the fourth line, of course, as we know, and playing that bottom six role. He can offer some point production. He’s a big body physical force, right? All of these things. And we’re going to get to who’s replacing him in a second because I think it’s very interesting. But um you know I I think the big thing here is yes you’re not losing a Robert Thomas. Yes you’re not losing a Jordan Kyu but so you know soon into this young season you’re already shuffling things around. You’re not playing with the full lineup if you want to call it that because of course you’re never really going to have that through the course of a season. But the Blues still haven’t had an opportunity to get that rocking. But they have a really good opportunity to pick up their first win today against the Calgary Flames. And I think the biggest thing is you want consistency. You want a lineup that’s going to play as many games together because you’re going to start jelling and everything like that. But with him being out, I think the biggest thing to look at is if something’s going to linger with the upper and the lower body injury, he’s not only going to have to recover from one, but both of these things. Hopefully, it’s not long and hopefully he can get into the game tonight. But going straight into the practice lines we seen last night, we can see that he is out of the lineup with Texier coming in. Now, Biddington looks like he’s in the starter crease, which we’re going to touch on. But Texia is an interesting name. Someone that’s fighting for a spot on this team. He spoke out to say, “We’ll see if I’m playing first. I have no idea. If I get a chance, I’ve got to play my game and focus on the small details of the game.” Now, Texier is a player that has a lot of skill. He’s oozing with skill. It just hasn’t been showcased in St. Louis for the most part. I mean, Darius, listen. Texier can still come in very young, 26 years old, coming through 11 points in 31 games last year, 30 points the year previous with Columbus. What is your thoughts on Texier getting in? And do you think he could maybe cement himself into a lineup where they’re looking to get more bodies? I mean, bodies that can score is something we need at the moment. Joseph slides down. Do you think Texi has a chance now to maybe win over Jim Montgomery? Well, I think there’s a reason Torpchenko is in that spot to start because he adds something to the lineup that the Blues, you know, they have a little bit of it, but you need in that bottom six, and that’s that heavy play, that physicality, right? The fact that he’s a big body, can go to the net. Uh, but I think Texas has a great opportunity here, right? Like something’s just opened up for him. He has to, you know, bust through that door now. We saw what he can do in Columbus. Like this is a very good player, right? So, you know, let’s see if he can make the most of this opportunity and what he does with it. But I think, you know, in his quote in saying that the Blues actually got away from in that first game a lot of the small details and the simple stuff in their game, clearing the front of the net, shooting the puck into the net and not into the goalender’s chest, these simple things in the game that you have to do to score, they got away from those things. So, I’m I’m glad that, you know, they’re all talking about it. Seems like most of the players and the coach are on the same page, at least verbally. Let’s see what the actions are in this next game, right? Which is going to be exciting. But I think that he recognizes that he has an opportunity here and that’s kind of what he’s talking about. So I expect him to have a big game and again not do anything crazy or anything like that, but just play solid and see if the Blues can pick up a win. And I think that, you know, he’s probably going to have to be a big part in this because if the big guys aren’t feeling it yet in the season, you’re going to have to get some depth scoring as well. So hopefully the big guys uh and and the top of the lineup get going today. But if not, I think this is a great opportunity for a guy like Texier on that third line which does have some scoring punch uh to get going here. And I think the big thing is Jim’s going to want to unlock something with these guys. It wouldn’t shock me if they go on a slide. And listen, they’re not going to. They faced a hot team. They got goalie. We see it constantly happen. You can have an AHL goalie step in and have the game of his life and the better team loses. So with the Blues going through, they’re going to look for a bounce back tonight. And I think the biggest thing is it’s going to come from the back end. Now with the defensive group as of this moment, nothing is changing. I know Logan Mayu got a lot of hate. He’s still a very young player getting his groove in the NHL. But I think the biggest question around this team, you can see the scratches with the injuries. Sony is still out as well. But I think the biggest thing, Darius, is coming back on the goalenders. Now, listen, I’m not putting any of this last loss on Jordan Bennington. Yes, he lit in a few questionable ones, but a lot of these were just hot hands picking corners that I don’t even think Prime Hashik could stop at that point. I think Bennington is going to end up getting the start. Listen, Joel Hoverver is a guy that’s going to really wait in the weeds and if he gets an opportunity to pounce into a starting position, maybe he tries to win it, but what is your initial thoughts on this defensive group and the fact that maybe they’re going back to Bennington to get his confidence? Listen, he’s never nervous, so maybe he proves that. Yeah, absolutely. Does he look nervous? I don’t think he’s very nervous and it’s the first game of the season or now the second game of the season. So, uh, in Joel Hall of Famer and talking about him, it’s not a backto-back, right? Like I don’t think there’s any reason two games into the season to go to Joel Hoffer at this point. It doesn’t make sense to me. Go back to Jordan Bennington. Now there’s two ways that this can go. Maybe Bennington has a bad game and then now you’re starting to question things and then you go to Hoffer for the next one. That could be interesting and a very interesting storyline to start the season for sure. But I wouldn’t pin the last game like you said on him. I saw a couple comments. Most people are not pinning it on him, right? I don’t even think he wasn’t necessarily that bad. Yeah, the stats if you want to look at that and say percentage wasn’t great, right? You expect more out of him in that way. But heading into this game, you don’t go to your backup goalie two games into the season. Go back to Bennington. I’m sure he’s going to have a good performance. I expect the Blues to win this game, right? So, I I think that they’ll be totally fine. There could be a story building here if he does have a poor performance today, but I don’t think that’s the case. I’m not pinning that loss on him either. And I think Hoffer is a great backup, right? And it’s a great one-two punch that the Blues have, but you can’t, you know, if you put Hoofer in here, and some people are talking about, and that’s we’re not saying here on the channel that they should do it, but some people are starting to talk about it. If you do that, that could potentially rattle Jordan Bennington, which I don’t think he does too, you know, often, but that would be kind of like, you know, message sending where it’s like, does this mean something? This is only the second game of the year. So, I think it’s a bit ridiculous. Go with Bennington. He’s the number one. I’m sure he’ll be fine. And, uh, you know, I’m not even pinning the last losses on him. It’s It was the first game of the year. If you watched all the first games of most teams, man, they were awful. Man, they were sloppy. They’re going to get back up to speed and they’ll they’ll be fine. And I think the big thing is, listen, if you drop this game, if this is another brutal game, yes, shake things up, maybe start going to hope for who’s even one of the best backups, a debatably a starting goalender playing as a 1B. But I think at the very moment you run course, you have these new lines going through. But Blues, what is your thoughts? How would you change this team up? Do you think it’s time to maybe look at some of the younger guys that are hungry to come up? Otto Steenberg, even D’Vorski. What are your thoughts on this team? Who do you think’s going to score first tonight? If someone actually does score tonight, let us know down in the comments. And speaking of comments, we’ll go straight into comments of the day coming through. One of the funniest comments I’ve ever seen. I don’t know what I do know one thing is better at shooting the puck dead center of the goalie’s chest than the St. Louis Blues. Their accuracy is unbelievable. And listen, if they use that accuracy to pick a corner or actually the back of the net, this team could probably score 15 in a game. But awesome comment here. And if you guys want to go down and leave a comment, you could be featured on comment of the day. While you’re down there, leave a like, subscribe, share this with your friends. We’ll back another episode to keep your eye for that. But I’ve been your host Mark with my co-host Darius. And take care, boys.

  1. I don’t know what monty sees in texier. This is a perfect opportunity for Dvorsky to get some good nhl experience and instead you put in a guy who does nothing every game (but at least he has a cool shootout highlight)

  2. If you blame any goalie for a shutout loss, you are a special kind of stupid. I could have won that game in net for the Wild. They shot 20 of 25 shots directly in his chest.

  3. Yeah, I’m not happy and I wasn’t when they made it and I don’t think those blue fans are gonna be happy about for that defenseman I hope I’m I hope he proves me wrong but I just don’t feel building leaving was good at all
