Can’t believe they really did it #giants #giantsbaseball #mlb #baseball #sanfranciscogiants

There you have it. Bob Melvin relieved of his duties. I’m sure it was a tough decision for Buster, but the bottom line is it’s a it’s a world and it’s an industry and it’s a business where you have to win. And when you start spending money, you really got to win. We will see where they go next. But keep in mind Bruce Bosshi and that contract, it’s done in Texas. All my exes live in Texas. Like um

  1. The breaking point was against the Dodgers when Webb and the Giants went up 4 in the first and Melvin brought in the wrong reliever in the 5th with bases loaded. He waited for the Dodgers to score 6 runs before he even did anything about it. The season just fell apart in the final weeks because weird decisions like that lose the clubhouse. You could see Bailey covering his mouth in the dugout talking to an assistant coach not looking happy. It was a gut punch that looked almost passive aggressively intentional. Like, "You took my bullpen away so here you go." You lost your bullpen for managing the team into a 2 week losing streak when it mattered most. Management was forced to make moves. You're right. Its a business.

  2. Buster is savvy. He took the chance to stand by Melvin during the middle of the season to give him and the team a better chance to rebound. When that didn't happen it was time to move on. Committing to a contract back then wasn't that big of a loss for the potential of the rebound during the season.

  3. It really wasn't that tough of a decision. Melvin has been a manager for 23-24 years and never won a WSC! If Bochy comes back, fine. But if not, I don't ANY FORMER SFG to be manager. Bring in someone outside the ORG. All previous success has been by guys outside. Rosen, Craig, Baker, Sabean, Bochy.
Think about past SFGs as manager or GM.
Haller, Davenport, Brenly, Altobelli, now Melvin….time to look elsewhere!
