WEMBY IS BACK and BETTER Than Ever!
WBY is back. Our Spurs are back. I’m excited. Are you? What is up, San Antonio Spurs fans? Welcome to TSR Sports. And it was great to see our Spurs back in action last night. The first time, if you don’t count the scrimmage, since what, July, and the first time we’ve seen Wem since February. It was awesome to call the game with you guys and sharing the highs and a little bit of lows as well. Are you pumped up for the season now? This this preseason game, you more pumped up? Let me know in the comments down below. I’m curious. Let’s get into an article from Era Alamo that piggybacks some of the stuff that I saw last night. So, I figured let’s just share it and drop my two cents in. Of course, I’ll leave it in the comments the article if you want to read the whole thing. We played with patience and didn’t hunt three-pointers. We got into the paint tonight either before the ball was delivered or with his handle. Last year he had a habit of jacking up quick threes. It seemed as if he was quick to take them just because he knew he could get them off. But they weren’t always good shots. He played with more poise tonight. And that was probably one of my biggest criticisms of Wem last year, if there was anything to criticize because he played very well for us, is that sometimes he would just run up and take a quick three. And it’s like if you’re making them, okay, I get it. If you’re absolutely NBA gem on fire and hitting bucket after bucket, what am I to say? But if you’re like 0 for six or whatever, if you’re really struggling to find your shot, chucking threes, I don’t think is the best way to find your shot. Taking easy shot Whoops. Easy shots around the rim, dunks, layups, etc. Yeah, it is what it is. Leave that in. All right. Up next, passing was a sign of maturity. He played with a more considerate effort to instill confidence in his guys by passing up good shots he could have taken to get his teammates great shots. It’s the kind of show of leadership the Spurs will need from their superstar to help this team reach its peak. Yet, you saw that a lot last night. He had a shot in the paint, dumped it off to Luke Cornette. Instead, a little jumper, a dunk. Dunk, of course, a much more higher percentage shot. WMY himself said after the game, quote, “Tonight, I passed up shots that I could have made with my eyes closed, but was to give one of my teammates a shot that he can make in his sleep.” So, from easy shot to even easier shot, a shot that TSR could even make on the NBA court, maybe. And then last but not least, and this had me more the most pumped up, watching them work together, the WBY Cornet pairing is going to work wonders. Luke Cornet scored 16 points on six of six shooting. Many of buck of his buckets were dunks and a few of them came off too many actions between him and the taller half of Area 51. He just didn’t finish with any block. He didn’t finish with any blocks, but he made a huge difference on defense. That ad blow distracting me for a second. You could just feel his presence and having a capable big over seven feet tall not named will be huge. We knew exactly how to get on the ball too. And keep in mind, it’s the preseason and the Lon Lions are not an NBA team, but it was a great start for our Spurs. I agree 100%. They were supposed to blow out the Lon Lions and they did. All right, let me get into my two cents. First off, as I said, take everything with a grain of salt. Not an NBA team. That being said, WBY looked fantastic. The only negative I have really is the six turnovers. I think that’s a combination of Russ for not having played for so long and he was running, correct me if I’m wrong, he was running point at times. So, what do we saw you what was it? Nine points, 11 boards, seven assists. I actually don’t know his final stat line, but he was on his way to a triple double. And then the Wei Cornet connection was fire. And I think this version of Twin Towers, if they can do a semblance of this versus NBA teams, they’re going to be on court more often than I think they that many of us thought they were going to going into the season. And I do think they can. They worked very well considering how little time they’ve had together already. Other quick authorizations, observations. Carter Bryant was a menace and fun watching just a tad to paint with authority and righteous justice and anger. Hey, I’m getting carried away, but he was just he was on a mission and it was fun to watch. His three-point shot though still look looked short. Man, I can’t talk today. Still looked a little bit short. he was taking some shots and it it felt like uh correct me if I’m wrong, but the shots I remember him taking cuz I think he was one of five from three. A lot of them were hitting the front of the rim. I don’t know if maybe he’s just not adjusted to the NBA three-point line yet. That just seems like a little tweak that he needs to make throughout the season and he might start draining those more consistently. Up next, back to his number three, Kevin Johnson. He looked good. Looked like he bulked up a little bit, too. He leaned down a little bit last year, which I didn’t think might be the best move. He looked a little more solid and he was solid on offense. His defense, well, that’s not why he’s on the team coming off the bench. We’re not bringing Kellman to be a defensive stopper. We’re bringing him in for the energy and he had at least one good screen I saw last night and to score. And he did score very well and efficiently. And that’s going to be the key, I think, with Kell Johnson coming off the bench is he’s got to be efficient. I’d like to see a stat line of something along the lines of 48 38 78. I’m going with all eights apparently. Even though his number is three, I’m going with eight. 48 3878. I think he’s had something similar to that the second half of the season last year. The three-point was a little lower, but I believe his overall field goal percentage was higher. So, I’d like to see the efficiency, a little more effort or consistency on defense, of course, would be appreciated, but I’m not expecting him to be a defensive player of the year anytime soon. Julian Champeni look good. I think he’s going to be a very solid bench player for us. He gives us three-point shooting, which the team has needed for what feels like decades. It’s not decades, but it feels like forever. And he brings a little size, too, but he’s a solid defender. So, Penny off the bench on a team friendly contract, which is this the last year or does he have two more years of 3 million a year? He originally signed a contract extension or just a contract for four years, 12 million. He’s obviously going to get a raise if he reups with us or somewhere else. And then some guys, well, one guy I really didn’t expect to impress me, but Lindy Waters showed his three-point range. He looked good. And as I said, the team needs shooting depth. And speaking of shooting depth, how the fruit of my loins, Riley Min, because you all say we look alike, even though I don’t see it. Miss TSR doesn’t see it, but apparently we look related. Riley showing off the three-point range. Good to see him doing his thing. On the flip side, Micah Parter, Micah Potter, and David Jones Garcia were off last night, but it was the first preseason game. We’re gonna get a little bit better test or a much better test and a little more uh sort of like before. We’re get a good understanding maybe where this team is versus the main Heat tomorrow night. The Heat are kind of one of those fringe playoff teams. I’m not sure who they have out. We had a ton of guys out last night. No Castle, no Soan, Bel. I hope some of No Harper. Hopefully some of those guys play tomorrow night because I’d like to see if they’ve improved and especially Castle and Sohan. Have they improved on their shooting whether it’s mid-range or three-point? That’s going to be the thing I’m really be focused on in the preseason. What can they bring to the table there? Or are they going to bring the same thing they brought last year? Deon Mel saying that he’s the healthiest he’s been in quite some time. What are we going to see from Deon? Are we going to see a up and down throughout the season or is he going to be more consistent from three, which we certainly need. Is he going to attack the rim more because we know he can be a three-level score. Is he going to be better on defense? A lot of questions to I’m asking that may not be fully answered in the preseason, but they can give us an inkling of where the team and those specific players are going. And last but not least, Mitch Johnson chewing his gum, arms crossed, stoic as always. Nothing’s changed, but I am rooting for him to do well. That’s just his demeanor. Maybe we’ll see a little more fire throughout the season. It was a preseason game, but he was right right how I remember him last year. Just arms crossed and looking around. Anyway, that’s all I got. We’ll have more Spurs content coming on the regular now that the preseason started. And of course, the actual season is less than two weeks away, I believe. And it was fun calling the Spurs with you tomorrow night. It’s going to be just as fun calling it tomorrow night, but just as fun calling it last night will be just as fun calling tomorrow night. Apparently, I’m rusty as all heck. Hey, I’m having How many times have I flubbed the line in this video? That will call that a turnover. Maybe I match one v6 turnovers in this video. Anyway, drop a comment down below your thoughts on last night, your excitement for the season. Hit the thumbs up, support the channel, subscribe, become part of our awesome Spurs community. I thank you and as always, go Spurs go. That’s not right. And I What did I just do? There’s another turnover. Science Day.
WEMBY IS BACK! And the NBA might need therapy. The 7’4+” alien has returned to destroy rims, block dreams, and make defenders question life choices. Spurs fans, itβs officially *Wemby
Season* again!

I can make the shotπ€ Maybe π
Ingram was way off
Im exited β€π
Still canβt believe I missed the stream, but I will be ready for the next stream. Victor Wembanyama was the Victor of the battle of Victors against Victor Oladipo
Wemby made 4 GOAT type plays in the first 10 minutes of his playing time. He pinned the ball on the glass and palmed it down! Racing down the court with the ball, he fell down only to get up and two-hand dunk a missed shot by his teammate. He also SLAM BLOCKED a shot that turned into a fast break bucket. His FOURPLE pass combo with Kornet had to make the defenders dizzy. It was a GOAT assist.
As a sidelight, the twin towers of Wemby and Kornet's pick and rolls just might force their opponents to put up their surrender flags. haha On paper, the Spurs look weaker than OKC and Denver, but that simple weapon will be keeping those teams up at night. Houston has some good defenders with height in Jabari, Adams, Sengun and KD, so maybe they can stop it.
The Dubs would not be able to stop it with Horford being outnumbered. OTOH they could counter attack with a ring of fire from their 3-point snipers: Steph, Seth, Buddy, Moody, Post, etc.
I really miss watching the games with you! Glad the season is back! Go Spurs Go!!!
6 turnovers in 16 minutes against a scrub international team??? This was in SA!
Tongue twisting , forgot how to talk
1:29 "easy π©"
HB was bad too… But he did the same last season… not efficient at all in preseason and by far the most efficient shooter on the roster during the season.
The Giants are gonna have a great year……..Unfortunately, It's not going to be this year. Sorry, I had to bring that up again.
Epic ending haha.
Go spurs GO !
Looks like the Wemby-Kornet PNR could appear more than we think.
Did you see "Mick's Hoops" and "Venom Reacts" videos? Mick is declaring WemVP the best player in the world by the end of this season.
I told people Carter Bryant wouldn't see the G-League. If Meek Mitch is wise, he'll do what Pop did with Tony Parker. That is, throw him into the fire. Give CB 20mpg and he'll be the starting 3&D SF by the ASG.
My starting 5 for the opening night : Castle – Vassell – Barnes – Wemby – Kornet !!
I was pumped just to watch them play! Too many turnovers, defense needs to tune up, but overall this was a VERY encouraging game to watch.
Are we ready for a prediction video? How many games will the Spurs win? How deep will they go in the playoffs, if at all? Gotta get the prediction in before the first game.
MEA CULPA: I've been soo wrong! First, Carter Bryant is closer to NBA ready than I thought. Second, the Luke-Wemby Towers are more effective together than I expected. And third, unfortunately, the team play is not as tight or season-ready as I imagined: if you watch the Mavs, or even the Warriors this week, they are clicking already in a way that makes the Spurs look sloppy and turnover prone. It is going to be tough the first half of this season, in spite of the Spurs easy-early schedule, and that's about more than injuries. π¬
Back like he never left
Where's Kelly Olynyk?
Much improved depth this year.
Celtics fans already miss Luke Kornet
Spurs officially list Wemby at 7β5
Really impressed with Waters. Not so much with Potter. He played well but got Luka Samanic Vibes. Maybe because they have similar appearance. I was hoping he did well. He plays the 4/5 and can shoot. Don't think Garcia would be a useful point guard. Carter needs to stay with the team for at least the first 6 or 7 games. If he does well keep in on big team, if he needs tuning send him to Austin for a period. I think he will do well enough that he sticks with the big team.
Micah Potter and David Jones Garcia BOTH PLAYED LIKE Pro's CONSIDERING IT WAS A PREASEASON Game # SALUTE to Victor Oladipo and Kaminsky I forgot his 1st name I'm sure he attended Wisconsin. Both still can play in the league today in my opinion, they looked Sharp Victor Oladipo WAS PENETRATING to the basket daring VICTOR Wembanyama to block his shot….
Welcome Back TSR Go Spurs! Go ππ
This Year Spurs! In The Playoff 50+ Win! ππ
Venom Reacts (VR) says Spurs fans are going to like Waters b/c VR used to cover him with Detroit.
I'm not liking the term they're using for Luke. "Backup Center", I like to think of him as Associate Center or Vice-Center. Nothing "backup" about him so far.
Looks like Harper is playing against Utah.
