So, if you’re excited for the Jay series, make sure to hit that subscribe button, folks. A lot to go over today. And obviously, the Jay’s roster was just announced minutes ago, and I promised you guys I would have a video for you all on it. Here it is. And let’s dive right into it because we have a lot to go over today. Now, obviously, there is some things here. Now, let’s start with Bobette. Hezil May came out with a report about 30 minutes ago before the official roster was announced announcing that you know Bo Bashette was going to miss the uh you know miss of course the ALCS roster and won’t be there for the entirety of the ALCS and again Bette is not going to be there because of his according to Shai Deviti his discomfort during his attempt running the bases yesterday position player group remains the same that’s something I want to kind of go over here now I’ll dive into some of the pitching staff because that’s where the biggest changes were made but if If you missed my video yesterday, Bo tried to run the bases. Feel free to check that one out after this one if you haven’t already. Tried to run the bases. There was some footage of it. He tweaked his knee or retweaked his PCL strain. It seemed when he was actually stepping on second base, he went down in discomfort. There was no way he was going to be able to play. Now, a lot of people wanted Bo to just be on there because, you know, 50% Bo is better than 100% IKF. Fair enough. But Bo has a contract, right? Like he’s in the sense of he’s about to enter free agency. He does not want to reagravate it anymore. So the infielders remain the same. Barger, Clement, Gimenez, uh, Guerrero, IKF, and of course the outfielders. You got Nathan Lucas, you got the guys. I have full faith in this team, right? And you’re going up against pure righties. So having all these lefties is good. But where the changes are made is, of course, in the sense of the pitching. Now, you can see this here, Max Scherzer and Chris Basset replace Tommy Nance and Justin Bul. Now, if you watched my video yesterday, this is the exact thing I predicted. Not to pump my own tires here. It doesn’t really matter, but I did predict that. And I’ve been saying that for the past really week, ever since the Jays moved on to the ALCS. Now, I was hoping they were going to replace Bo for IKF. That would have been the easiest move, but they now have both Bassid and Sherzer on the roster in exchange for again Justin Brew and Tommy Nat. So, there’s a few reasons for this here. And the biggest reason, of course, is because of the fact that a they only had Justin Brew on there because the Yankees had an abundance of lefties and against their righty starters, they could have, you know, you could have put in Justin Brew for the patch of lefties, all these different things. There’s not as many of those on the Mariners, right? There just isn’t as many lefty hitters, which obviously allows you to use longer relief guys. Now, Tommy Nance, he had a fantastic season, a sub two RA, I think, to finish year 1.99. However, they want to have someone who’s available for multiple innings, which both Chris Basset and Maxer are. But this also gives them the option to start probably Chris Basset in game four. Unfortunately, it’s on the road, but in game four and get kind of uh get kind of unique with their, you know, obviously um use of these guys. So, you can see here from Joshua Ger in game four and the utilization will be interesting, but Basset out of the pen is my guess at the current plan. Those circumstances can necessitate a very different approach by the time game four rolls around. So, in a perfect world, let’s say the Jays are up in the series 2 to1 by game four. They use their starters in order. Gosman, Yavage, Bieber, right? We assume that’s going to be the case. Bieber will be used in the road and then let’s say you lose one of the games similar to the Yankee series. And in the Yankee series, you of course had a bullpen game in game four. They’re probably going to lean towards starting Max Sherzer. And of course, if you haven’t been keeping up to date with it, Sherzer has not been injured. He’s been pitching a ton of pitches. Last through 95 pitches, which essentially means that he’s going to be good to go for as many pitches as they need him. where you know Bassid who’s coming off of an injury you know he’s going to be available for maybe three or four innings which would obviously then you kind of prefer Bassid out of the pin. Something else to keep in mind, let’s say hypothetically they do start Max Sherzer in a game four. He has to have a really short leash, which means a Bassad out of the pen could be interesting right away, right? So, they’re basically taking two of the pitchers that can pitch multiple innings, Bassid and Bieber, to A provide them some length, b something that goes underrated here. If they’re blowing out a team or vice versa, they now have someone who alongside Eric Lowour can go multiple innings and kind of save some of that bullpen, which is something that they didn’t have in the Yankee series. There was some blowouts in the Yankees series. They had to use, we think back to game two when they blew out the Yankees, but they had to use a couple of their uh, you know, somewhat decent relievers like Brain Fisher and things like that because Brew gave up a ton of runs. You know, Nance did okay, but a lot of guys gave up a ton of runs and that’s where this becomes very solid. So, I’m very happy with these moves. It makes total sense to me. They didn’t do anything. I’m a little bit and I the reason I say surprising moves of course Bobette being left off not a surprise after yesterday’s update but a little bit of a surprise in general. Um, the biggest surprise for me is them actually going out and they took both of the pictures. And this is where things become interesting because a lot of people didn’t want Max Sherzer on the on the roster, right? They did not want him there. And that’s where the surprise comes for me. And now I said in my videos that I expected them to do it and I figured they were going to do it, but the majority of people disagreed or at least a lot of people online were saying you can’t have Sherzer in here, you know, all these different things. I tend to like agree he’s been really bad in the regular season towards the second half of it after the all-star break but he is you know Max Scherzer at the end of the day and clearly they value what he brings more than Tommy Nance and maybe that’s because they have more faith using Sherzer uh you know in a high level situation or maybe it’s as simple as Sherzer’s going to be starting game four right but pretty surprising to uh to not have you know Tommy Nance on there instead of Max Sherzer especially if you’re bringing a starter but again it does make some sense for the length aspect of it. And you know, they do have length. They have a ton of it right now. I mean, you have Basset, you have, of course, your starters. You have Braden Fischer go a couple innings. Mason Flurry can go a couple innings. Eric Lowour can go multiple innings. They should not be worn down in the arm department, which is the opposite of what the Mariners are feeling. Now, at the time of recording, the Mariners lineup is not out. We do know, or the roster, rather, is not out. We do know that Bryce Miller is going to be pitching today. What we also know is, you know, they don’t have they’re gonna have Brian Woo available on the roster, but probably not till game five. So, if you can take care of business, get up to a 3-1 lead, let’s say, for game five, I have full faith in the Jays being able to take care of Brian Woo. He also hasn’t pitched in a while. You know, he is their ace, I guess, quote unquote, but the Jays are in good shape. And this was an interesting tweet from John Marose yesterday night. In assessing ALCS roster options, the Jays are certainly weighing that there’s a diminished need for right-handed platoon bats, given that the Mariners have zero left-handed starters and only one frequently used left-handed reliever in Gabe Spire. So, this is something else to keep in mind. They kept Tai France off of it as well. I thought maybe they’d go with Tai France if B’s not available instead of IKF. They clearly value IKF’s versatility. The way John Schneider deploys his pitch hitters or, you know, defensive replacements, whether that’s Miles Shout, all these different guys, it is what it is, right? No Tai France. And there’s less of a need for tie front. The Mariners have mostly righties, right? Just all across the board. We’ll see a lefty probably once a game max, right? And maybe that allows them to use a bunch of lefties, use Addison Burgger, use Daltton Vo, use Nathan Lucas. Like Lucas is going to start every game in the two- hole. You have Barger probably in the cleanup spot. You have Varo down there in the six hole, whatever, you know, actual area they want to go about it. This also allows Andre Jimenez, who is better against righties here, not great either way, to he’s going to be playing every day at short. So, it all worked out. Couple surprising ones though. Sher, I’m a little bit surprised they actually went there. Unfortunate Bobett’s left off the list. Let me know down below what your thoughts are on all this folks. Some pretty crazy times right now. I’ll keep you up to date every step of the way.

  1. A 50% Bo is not better than a 100% IKF. A 50% Bo can do nothing but swing the bat which makes him only available to pinch hit, and probably only once.

  2. Nick's channel is not showing up as much today due to big media posts about this big game today. Best to ring the bell for notifications about this channel especially on big media days.

  3. The ALDS staff construction was horrible and the Jays won in spite of it, not because of it.

This is much better overall. Replacing Bruihl, who only pitched during a blowout and was the low-leverage guy, was a no-brainer. Scherzer instead of Nance makes sense as well in that you can start Scherzer in game 4 in a pitchers' park and piggyback Bassitt as Joshua said. Scherzer's struggles as the 5th starter are mitigated by the pitchers' park tendencies of T-Mobile Park. If you get three turns through the order with those two guys and you get to the 7th or 8th inning, you probably win the game.

Now they just have to be smart and tell the lineup to have nice long PAs and gas the Seattle staff. Let the Nathan Lukes marathon plate appearances COMMENCE!

  4. If anyone bothered to look at Bichette's swings from Friday, they would have known he wasn't ready. He was hobbling on his swing follow though. I doubt he re-injured anything, he wasn't ready to begin with.

  5. Not the reason at all for Bo!!!

If Bo had gone on the ALCS and went off injured again he would be ineligible to play in the World Series.

Since he is close, but not ready, better to wait and see if he can make the World Series.

  6. Lmfao I love how all these 😢 commentary videos come in with zero knowledge of baseball. There was zero suprisees to there roster moves. Lol if got a dollar for every random analysis video from fans I'd be rich

  7. I give us a solid chance of taking the WS without Bo and I’m a huge Bo fan. If we win without him I see a world they let him go sign elsewhere and direct that money to signing a starting pitcher or two. Neither Clement or Gimenez can fully replace Bo but I’d really like to see Ernie carry his success forward into next year. If he can continue his production he’s a big improvement on the defensive side. And Gimenez is great at short!

  8. WTF is Schneiders love for Santander? His bat is cold and he cant field shat unless its hit right to his glove. Why are they continuing to put him in the field ahead of much more reliable gloves and more conditioned like Straw and Lukes who's bats are hot? Hes old and fat and needs to go. My suspicion is the head office wants to get their pound of flesh out of his big paycheck which they should just swallow because he has and is going to cost them. He's done John! Give it up! Give him a locker room or water boy job or something but please for the love of god leave him off the roster or we all going to be sorry

  9. I had a guy on fb argue with me that Santander was the better choice over Loperfido because Santander is a switch hitter. It doesn’t matter if you’re a switch hitter if you can’t hit water falling out of a boat.

  10. This is hardly "HUGE"…..the roster, for all intents and purposes is almost identical to what they had for the DS. On the hitting side it's exactly the same, and by removing Nance and Bruihl (how do you spell that name) they are taking off two guys who were not going to be pitching in leverage situations in any case.

The question now is who will be the game 4 starter….if the Jays are up 3-0 they'll go with Mad Max I bet….

  11. bassitt road splits can mostly be explained by strength of opponent. but luis castillo has bad road splits and gets the start game two.

and i told y'all when bo was injured that it would be 6-8 weeks for a non surgical grade one PLC strain

  12. Incase Scherzer struggles, it was a good idea to add Bassitt who can also pitch multiple innings, this is more important in a Best of 7 Game Series than adding Nance who seemed to struggle himself in the ALDS.
