Full Highlights | Maple Leafs vs. Red Wings – Oct 11, 2025 (w/Joe Bowen)
Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings playing back-to- back games. They’ll be in Toronto on Monday afternoon and the Leafs with opening night win against Montreal and a disappointing loss to the Canadians for the Detroit Red Wings. And we’ll see what happens here tonight and see how the Red Wings respond to really being called on the carpet by their coach one game into the season. Carlo again with it on the boards has it blocked and the Red Wings break out. Potential twoon-one here. Andrew Cop on the right wing side and a good save. The rebound and a good save made again by Anthony Stallard Robertson to get it into the offensive end. Dakota Joshua into the floor check but can’t come up with it. Nice little touch pass those brings the Red Wings potential twoon one up. Backhand shot went wide. Leaf defenseman did a good job of taking away the pass. And the draw controlled by the Wings, but they play it around into an empty corner. And the Leafs are going to get there first. Back to the point. One-time in front of the goal. They score. Yarn Croc was in front of the net. But was it he or uh Oh, I don’t Well, is it Yarn Cruc? Yeah. Was Yarn Croc took a swat? Nick Wah was there. Was there too? Yeah. And I don’t know if Wah might have swept it in before Yarn got there, but a very simple play. Cycles it back behind the net trying to come out with it as Raymond. They’ll play it back to the point. Sherro, another shot in traffic. Comes in front. Big play made there by Jake McCabe. That’s drawn a crowd in around the official, but the Leafs are able to dig it out and a rinkwide pass gets to center and Loren had to get his head up there as he took a bit of a hit. And Steven Loren out of the game after taking a hit in mid ice. That was by Ben, I believe. Yeah. Rightwing board sends a high floater into the far corner. Dylan Larkin first back, but the Leafs get it back to the point. The drive is into the glove of Cam Talbot. He uses his frame to protect it there for Loren. Loren in the corner to the side of the comes in front. Oh, and Yarn Crook almost got there in time. He has the six most points from that draft class, but it includes Dry Cidle, kneelander, Braden Point. It’s a pretty good move in front of bouncing pucks hit the goal post. Rebound back at the goal. Stolars down. Got a glove up to knock it down. Oh, that was in behind him, but it rattled off the far post. Oliver Eman Larson gets it ahead. Bobby McMahon trying to get it out. Batting at it and still can’t. Rings in right wing side. He’s got a good pat save with the left leg by Stallards who’s been outstanding. He’s faced seven shots. Puck along the boards and taken down on the play was Sandine Pelica. No call I don’t believe from the official. At least the one that’s by the lead goal. Boy, the Red Wings have really come on. That’s the best pressure they’ve had in this period. And fresh off the bench is Knander who gets the pass and brings to center. He’ll shoot it down into the Detroit end. Bounces back at the net. Knander comes out in front of the net. Had it knocked off his stick. Corrals in the far corner to get it back to the point coming shot. Scores a deflection in front of the net. And Kelly was there again. Joe, but it’s Nick Raw who is going to the bench first. So the big elongated centerman got robbed by that greedy arm crook on the first goal, but this one is going to be his. And Matthews has it in his own zone. Puck comes back into the Toronto end and a pass ahead across the line. Matthews gone. Oh, hit the goal post. I thought that was in the back of the net. Axel Sandine Pelica getting it into the slot area and a shot is deflected by the blocker of uh Joseph or Solar and now we’re getting a penalty. Now they’re going to call a trip which [Music] he might have been on a scale of 1 to 10 of five. Looking in front of the net for Andrew Cop, but it comes back to the point walking the line. Sandine Pelica can’t get a shot away. Off on the wing and a shot pad save and a good one made by Stallard. Leafs get a much needed change with the long change during this second period. Wings bring it back in with Patrick Kane centering that bounces wide to the Leaf goal. Kane back at the net. Can’t get it in front. Has it again as he sends it back to the point. Long shot pad save through traffic. Leafs don’t get it out. Robertson gets it up on the wing. Doy line out for Toronto. Played in back of the net. Stallar’s down is knocked down and as he gave the puck away but the Leafs break it out. Twoonone break. Robertson tried to get to it. So is DOI in the shot is stopped by Talbet. Boy, Anthony Stolers gave the puck away in behind the Leaf net. Then fell as he was scrambling to get back to try to stop the point shot as it was funneled back to the left point. Knives in along the boards. Can’t get it away from Edmonson. Matthews centered in front of the net and a glove save made by Cam Tal, but Austin Matthews got it away in a hurry on a good setup from behind the net and plays it gingerely into the near corner forcing Benois after it. Benois looses it and the shot scores on a turnover. Red Wings on the board. Marco Casper. Benwalk couldn’t catch up to the relay around the dasher board and the Wings jump on the turnover and it’s two to one. Leaf will spend a lot more time in their own zone here in the second period. Wings back out at center ice with Bergrren getting to the line and in into the slot now with a chance for Sandy Pelica and that got to the net but the Leafs blocked it with a lot of bodies in front. Raymond into the slot area. Matthews backing took that away from him. The puck goes back of the net. Stolar got knocked down in front of the goal. It goes around back into the net. Oh, what a save that was. Now the rebound in front. Stolar stops that and he had it in his glove, but he let it go. But he made two or three dandy saves against the Wings to keep the score at two to one. And the Wings will play it in over the line. Bouncing disc towards the net. Scooped aside by Stallard. Back of the net now for Larkin trying to wrap it around in front of the net. They do and score. [Applause] Layman off to the side of the net has tied the game at twos. [Music] [Applause] [Music] Pass broken up by Detroit. Brought in by Patrick Kane. Kane into the slot. Bouncing shot went off of a foot wide of the net. Kane with it in the near halfourt. Centered again in the slot. shot coming. Pad save made by Stallard. Wings again in front. Score. Kane off to the near side. A great mout pass and the Wings have come all the way back and taken a 3-2 lead as it goes to the side of the goal and it’s going to be foot high to center ice. Larkin trying to break in. Got a shot away and that was stopped by Stallard. Swing side. Leafs get it to center. Bank it in over the line. Trying to drive past the check. There was Tavvaris who got Paul down. Way to go, Ralphie. Nicely done. You predicted that like no one. You know, that’s just years of experience of doing this job. He’ll work it to center and give it off to Knander. Across the line it goes to Tvaris. On to Riley. Top of the circle. A shot by Matthews that time from where exactly you want him to be, but the penalty is over. High stick catching one of the Red Wings. And I think it’s Matthews who’s going to go to the penalty box. Corner boards, but lost it there. Then regained by a centering pass by Casper, but it’s onto the stick of Doi. And Doi brings it to center for the Maple Leafs. Riley going to the front of the net. Doi in scores. Max Doy with a bit of traffic in front of Talbot is able to find the back of the net and the Leafs have tied the game at three. Well, it’s a threeon three rush out of the Leaf zone and over the Redwing line. Doi pulls up. Riley and Ny head to the net and take some bodies with him. Fans hollering for a penalty but brought back by Lucas Raymond. tried to roll it and in front of the net and he was taken down apparently by Oliver Ecman Larson. And this is a call I think that went maybe I let that one go. We’ll call a cheap one here and that seems to be it. Sherro Matthews having a word and McCabe is in returning the favor again now. Cross sights on a one-time attempted there by Debrink and that went off a leaf stick. It comes across to Kane again in front. They score. [Music] Lucas Raymond in front of the net restores the Detroit lead as the Leafs give up the first power play goal of the season. [Music] [Applause] Brought back on the right wing side now by Toronto. And a flip in trying to get to it is doy but I think he’s going to be called for a penalty. Yep. Draw one cleanly by Detroit. Cider in on the halfboard. The centering pass. Oh, and it just went off Kane’s stick and went wide and out into neutral ice. McKay back in across the line. Doiy’s in behind the defense and on goal. Shot it over top of the net on the back hand. Oh, what a chance Max Doy just had there to tie it. Looks up ice. Now we’ve got Edmonson and McMahon shoving with one another and they’re going to be coincident minor penalties here. Hustling back Benois to come up with the loose puck. He’s dragged down and a penalty coming to Detroit. Matthews just able to keep it in. Now a one-time from Matthews and that was off the glove of Talbot. Penalty about to expire and has. Puck comes into the slot. Matthews shooting. That’s stopped by Talbert. The rebound. They’re jamming away at it. And Talbert somehow has a glove on it. Nice being double teamed. Back of the goal. Edmonson just odied N and threw him to the ice. N looking for the loose puck in behind. Dela. Starts out on the right wing side. now gets to the red line and flips it in on goal. Thrown aside by Cam Talbot. Lifled out and down the ice to the empty net and it’s in. We didn’t know that Stlars had left. We had no indication that he had left the net. Off a glove into the far corner. Sharp angle shot went wide. Wings get it again and into an empty net. [Music] And the Red Wings will skate off with a 6-3

lazy ass team again. Stolarz only good thing out there.
With those centennial uniforms it feels criminal not having both teams wearing their home colours
MAPLE LAUGHS 😂😂😂
Leafs continue to give up way too many shots
Cant wait for JOE BOWEN to do play by play on this channel or his own next season. love this channel
Clear? Marner wasn't the problem – can't hide anymore Matthews
Berubes got his work cut out for him 😥
Leafs gave up a basket full of goals 6!! in the last 31 minutes of the game. Same old chokers 😂
Leafs are in Trouble…
I never really thought Marner was the issue with the Leafs…. I'm pretty sure the problem with the Leafs is they have a scared boy for a captain … a 6'3 weakling.
Knies was on his knees getting face washed by two red wings.. Matthews does NOTHING! you don't earn respect in the room like this…. matthews shows no emotions like he doesn't even care to be out there… you can't have a billion dollar francise on the back of someone who has no fire, no passion, no fight, no push back, no leadership ….
Do they think it is still preseason
WTF? DNA change? Where? Are we gonna hear "we just gotta be better" all over again?
Amazing footage Jelly thanks so much Im on night shift what a game Toronto needs to pull up that Def.Stolly is doing a great job.LETS GO LEAFS>
Only the second game I have seen of the Leafs this year and they look so scrambly and confused on the ice, especially in their defensive zone. They've got a lot of work to do.
the Leafs beat the Canadiens,
Canadiens beat the Red Wings,
Red Wings beat the Leafs
sure lol 🤷🏻♂️
😂
Are the Leafs the worst defensive team in the NHL?
The Wings’ off white and brown gloves is chef’s kiss
Remember when it was Marners fault? Lol
it took 11 minutes to find out that Knies was playing tonight 🙈… What a disaster from the Leafs defense 😢!
I wonder if Matthews can score more than 40 after his wrist injury
Couple of bad calls by the ref cost us this win…
Such a trap game for the Leafs but ffs refs two phantom trip calls on the Leafs absolutely instigated by the wings player we better get these calls in the 6 🤔🤷♂️🙄
What is this team doing. Absolutely shameful performance
As I sail around the world in my sailboat it’s very comforting to hear Joe Bowen
Currently sailing the Mozambique Channel
Leafs D exposed again. Last year Goaltending kept Leafs in probably 40% of the games. They look uninspired.
Back to reality, Wings already better than us. Matthews not doing anything well.
Love your channel.
First time even watching leafs highlights in 2 years, nothings changed. Also why is puck speed measured in mph? I'm 53 and relate to kph and can't imagine younger people or immigrants can relate to mph.
No, there are some great penalties nice dives
dude if the leafs don't win a cup while Matthews is still in his prime they will never win one
I like to see someone just level Nylander…the little chicken shit
Does Austin Matthew's ever going to drop the gloves…he's a pussy with skates .He's no Wendy Clark….
They suck. They are so boring to watch without Marner. They should have gotten rid of Moustache. I cannot stand Auston Mattews. He doesn't deserve to wear the C. Nice high stick penalty, Matthews you no show piece of crap. Nies gets wrestled by two Red Wings and that weakling piece of crap Matthews just skates by. I have no repsect for him. This team sucks. How many fking times has it been said to get rid of Rielly?
Joe Bowen is such a great broadcaster. He old school
Come now, we're rebuilding again……since 1967
When was the last Detroit win in the regular season prior to October 12, 2025?.
Same old..same old…..
2 garbage teams
They got rid of the best player and top point getter. Now they struggling to score. So much for the defencing team. A defencive team does not give up so much shots against.
