Throwback NBA Playoffs WCF 2007.5.28 San Antonio Spurs at Utah Jazz G4 FHD
A little under the weather. We’ll see how he responds tonight. Look for another sellout crowd. And game four. Kenny Mau will throw it up. Duncan wins the tip. Not allowing Jim Duncan to dominate the paint or Tony Parker to have his way. You make other guys knock down shots. Most importantly, what contest? Hands have to be in the face. Finley who’s battling a bad backs that one in. Tough shot at home. The reason why is like Dart, there’s no place like home with a young basketball team able to develop a tremendous amount of confidence and they can make this assist. Fischer with the steal. Fisher hard to the basket and draws another foul. I’d rather see Williams attack right there. I thought he had numbers three on three. He could have probed and got to the rim. Williams the drive. He’s a good listener. See the things score right off the bat. He’s done a majority of the scoring in the second half. [Applause] Duncan again so deep in the post impossible to stop. Catches it deep, eliminates the double team and then attacks me for a one-on-one. Good high percentage move. That’s what the the Spurs have to have a steady diet of. [Music] Alberto picks him up, fires away a three, gets knocked down on a three-point attempt and three free throws as Williams shaken up. He’s in the conference finals. They’re calling it a little tight early. I think Steve Jab is the best play caller in the NBA. I think he’s a great great road to miss by players. Steve Jabby was always a great play caller. His demeanor wasn’t always great. Now his demeanor is good. And so that’s what makes him I think the best in the league. How about Bullet off the dribble? At some point you’re Tim Dun, you have to recognize that other guys are getting involved in the play. The move has to be quick and decisive. Alberto, nice move, Roio. Alberto Boozer. Nice pass from Williams. Blocked by Duncan. Genobi comes the other way. [Applause] Duncan deep once again. Knocked out of his hands. Gets it back again. And there’s a foul. Foul early in this game. We’ll see how he responds. Mike Michelle looks through like an old married couple. They know what each other’s thinking. Often don’t have to say a word. Williams. Nice feed to Boozer. And Boozer with a soft touching in because when I played with you, coach, there were days after games you wouldn’t talk to me either. Duncan lost it again. Here comes Fiser. [Applause] wisely slows it down. [Applause] Fisher right to Boozer. Tough fall away shot in and out. Here comes Genobi. At some point, Tim Duncan has to make an adjustment. This has to be a careerhigh for deflections on the post. And Ginobi knocks it down. Already a different scenario for Duncan not being in foul trouble. Giracher. How about Gerichek? Six assistant getting a little chippy out there. This is the Western Conference final, so that’s a good thing. And as the series goes on, you have more of this. Parker to the basket. Alberto, a big guy willing to sell out his body and sacrifice three intangibles that allows that play to develop. Garichek. Gordon. Garichek pulls back. Three-pointer won’t go. Harper the rebound. Harper and Milsap, two rugged forwards who played well in game three on the floor. Williams knocks it down and used their bench as well. Duncan, speaking of deep, knocked away by Elour. Duncan wanted a foul. Williams. That’s a two. Puts it in. You have to back up. He’s able to step into a rhythm jump shot. And when he knocks it down, you are in trouble. Pawn Milsack could help defense. Finley hits a three. Michael Finley with Harper running. I did the same thing. Come on. Duncan goes back door. Deflected by Fiser, but Alberto right there to put it up and in. Their largest of the opening half. Fischer inside. Harping trying to keep it alive. Ball taken by Milos. Crowd screaming for a foul. Genobi hits a three-pointer and just like that, it’s a seven-point game. You’re right, Mike. Utah doesn’t have enough offense on the floor right now due to foul trouble. Shot clock winding down. O’orless [Applause] [Music] in game three. Gets his first points tonight. [Music] This crowd not in a holiday mood right now. Duncan flips it up and in. What’ you see that time one [Applause] deflected again by Fiser. Excellent defense. That’s his third steal. Drives to the basket, banks it in, and a foul. Active hands by Derek Fisher in the passing lane. Boozer hands him the basketball. Did it on the defensive end. Finishes it up on the offensive end in transition. Gets the contact and the foul in this playoff run. What? He averaged five with those two. He’ll beat double figures every once in a while. Duncan inside. A tough play from Duncan. Williams was stomach flu. Did practice yesterday but started and looked pretty good to start. Finley right back to Duncan. Williams gets off the bench. Duncan banks in another you as a player and now he’s listening to you as a came off as Spurs their largest lead of the first half. Karolinko gets inside. Nice post up move over Fley. His first two points. Good decisive move by Carolinko eliminating everybody else on the floor and taking Michael Finley 101. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] Oh, nice pass to Finley. Oh, let him beautifully. Oh, a good solid pro throughout his career. Learned from Stockton in Utah. Learned from Jason Kidd in New Jersey. Had some nice leading point guards. Boozer. What a nice soft touch he’s got from that range here in the second. [Music] Duncan off the mark. Carolinko the rebound. Good spot for them. Williams back door. Beautiful off the ball move fed him beautifully all the time out there. I love him the way he handles the basketball. He’s having a conversation with Bruce Bowen at all times. Back up off me. Give me answers by Darren Williams against the best perimeter defender. Well, the adjustment being made when Ruth Bowen is defending Steve Nash in the Sun series. Nash doesn’t mind you being on his hip. The delivery from Duncan to Ory. Nash will allow maybe is Williams on the drive. Blocked by Duncan. That’s his second. Parker pushing it against Karolinko. Gets pumped. Goes down hard and he’ll shoot a couple. He’s got the whole package on offense again. Averaging 30 a game, but nine assists as well. Setting up Boozer. And Moza puts it in screaming for a foul. Parker to the rim. Blocked by Carolo. Williams to Boozer. Karolinko’s tip won’t go. And Alberto another rebound. Good end to end basketball. [Music] Genobi to Alberto and a foul on the pass. Third in the series. Yeah, but he’s got to start shooting a little better. He’s only three for four tonight. He’s bringing down his percentage. Williams, his percentage keeps going up. Two have developed a terrific feel with each other. Boozer forces it up. And Janovi the rebound. Parker pushes. Count it. And a foul. Boy, Tony Parker terrific play one and number two with Steve Nash was huge. But here’s a guy that’s closing and closing fast. He was second in the league in assists during the regular season. Tough shot there. No good for a foul job here in this series in limited time. Goi almost lost it. Gets it back. Kicks it out. Open three. Finley puts it in. Spurs three of nine from downtown. Jazz have only taken one three-point attempt and they were fouled on it so they haven’t hit any. Williams to the basket. Darren Williams again. get up a quick shot, get the basketball back. But how about in the pick and roll situation? Just making a one-on-one pitcher with [Applause] Duncan. Okour pokes it away. Blocked by Carolinko. Terrific team defense. Fiser. That’s a two. Fiser knocks it down for his second field goal. Parker, Finley, and Bowen. Bowen off the dribble. That’s twice he’s done that tonight. It’s a great adjustment. They’re closing hard to his corner three-point shot. Put it down on the ground. They’re not giving any help on his penetration. And he finishes the play. Williams lost it. This is what you have to do. You cannot allow him to dictate defensively. You have to dictate and get the ball out of his hand. Bowen with the steal. Oh, nice pass ahead to Finley. Knocked away by Kolinko. And I’m going to say still Spurs ball. Wide open. [Applause] Parker. Bowen. That’s his spot from three. Bruce Bowen from downtown. And it’s an 11-point lead. And Tony Parker was behind the basket. Carol Linko gave unnecessary help. That’s the play Nash always makes going behind the backboard. Duncan with his fifth block shot of the game. Kerolinko hacked by Finley and he’ll go to the line to Duncan. Parker Bowen off the dribble again. Blocked by Kolinko. His third rejection. That’s the Andre Kolinko these Jazz fans have known. Spinning inside. Puts it up. Won’t go. But it’s tipped out to Boozer. [Music] Nice feed and Boo has been knocking that shot down all night. Would have committed a charge but the pull up for the 12-footer. Parker Duncan gets a running start. Bank backs it in. Williams on the drive inside the Boozer. Boozer back out. Okore for three. It’s good. The men core with the three-pointer and that’s the first three of the game. Spurs have done a good job in terms of not turning it over since the opening minutes. Remember they had 44 the last two games. Boozer. Carolo stripped by Chenobi. Late whistle and a foul. They disagree though. How about Tim Duncan though Duncan blocked by Boozer. Oh, what a rejection. And here comes Williams the other way. Boozer inside. Puts it in. How about that effort and the crowd fired up on its feet. Parker to the basket. Won’t go. Williams puts it up. Puts it in [Music] inside. Tough shot again. Kireno there to help, but the ball deflected right to Parker. I don’t like the moves Duncan is making off the multiple dribbles. One dribble and attack the rim [Applause] right back and Duncan flips it up and in. He reposts it. All those boozer dunking thinking he has a wide open dunk. Boozer gets in says get it out of here my friend and then off to the races the other end but contestant not giving up anything easy meeting him on the top floor without an elevator says to Duncan. No, not on my watch, sir. I love this that crowd right now. They’re not very quiet. Williams to the basket, gets the roll. Alberto on the floor for Utah along with Bowen openly blocked by Milsack. Jazz ball. He came out of nowhere. Foster had never been to the postseason. [Applause] Boozer. Bad pass. Genovi out races. Blocked by Williams. Nice defensive play. Still San Antonio ball. Parker out to Ory. Nice feed. Albertos may have got away with a push. [Music] Manny in the crowd on its feet for much of the third quarter. Williams on the fake pulls up. Knocks it down. The NBA this year. [Music] Parker inside the tear drop crowd. A lot of contact on what you like. Tony Parker says he doesn’t want to pick and roll because they’re trapped. So he isolates and Darren Williams comes down and does the same exact thing right back at him. Heartbre spinning a fall away shot. It’s good. [Applause] Fischer trying to get around a screen. Shot clock at two. Ory leans in and misses. Offensive foul. Milsap taking the contact. A hard shot and he draws the charge on Ory. Miss Millsap. A tough kid. And an offensive foul called against Utah. An illegal screen. To be a jump shooter. You have to make him pay for playing that way. Williams and Boozer. That’s a little reminiscent of Stockton alone to perfection. Eight assists for Williams to go with his 24 points. Genobi quick three-pointer. It’s good. Mano Genobi a big three-pointer and not recently. Duncan boozer on him. Tough shot from Duncan. Short Jenobi and Alberto tips it in. But the job being done by Alberto constantly throughout the course of this series. He’s the unsung hero for the Spurs. Williams on the drive right at Duncan puts it in on the roll. He’ll make sure he catches it. [Music] Bad pass from Kolinko and Parker clearly with an easy basket to his point guard. You have to put the ball in the hands of the player and trust that he’ll get it. That time the overplay disrupted and the Spurs get an easy hoop. What a feed. Little fake to Boozer and Okore. Four-point game. [Applause] Genobi marker [Applause] inside. Alberto blocked by Carol in the game. [Applause] Duncan lost it. Gets it back. Stripped again, but a foul. Play by Andre Karolinko. This is a sure two points for Alberto. Comes from the weak side. Puts it on and a half to play. [Music] Duncan drives and Boozer with a foul. [Music] Bowen now harassing Williams. Williams inside gets it to Caroleno. can’t get it to fall on a dunk and another rebound. [Music] The Spurs are committed to getting the ball out of Darren Williams hands. They not they are not allowing him to take over this game by himself. Genobi gets hit on a three-point attempt. [Applause] Goi Parker wide open. Won’t go and boo the rebound. Williams again to the basket and there’s a foul. But the issue is that that’s a shot that the Spurs are giving. Genobi to the basket. Puts it in. Oh, tough shot from Genobi. And the largest lead of the game for the San Antonio Spurs. A technical foul called on Derek Fischer. Thinks that Derek Fisher did something wrong. This is an acting job by Genobi. No way in the world that should be a technical foul. a 14-point advantage. Crowd getting a little ugly as well. Fischer gets it inside to Boozer. Coming up on two minutes remaining. Pass Duncan. Stolen by Fiser. Nearly throws it away. Here’s Steve Brown. Fisher inside. Carolo with the jam. Now here to try and make free throws and extend the game. I trap. See if we can get some steals. Certainly. But it’s obviously been a frustrating as Fiser fouls again out of frustration and gets thrown out of the game. They just have not six foul anyway. So he would have fouled out from a personal foul standpoint. That’s his second technical. So he’s thrown out because of two technicals with a dominant performance in a hostile environment. How many times have we seen this team do this over the years? They played a tremendous fourth quarter and now it’s up to Utah to just to gather themselves, get ready to play game five and make them come back here to Utah once again. Milsap puts it in. Jazz have already won two elimination games. That was against the Houston Rockets in the first round, including game seven on the road, but the quality of opponent much higher right now. And San Antonio Spurs, another impressive playoff performance. They dominate.
