Training Camp 2025 | J.J. Moser 9.22.25
Let’s just talk about training camp thus far. Tell me how much more comfortable you are entering this training camp versus when you did last year in your first season with the Lightning. It’s a huge difference. I mean, obviously, when you have everything set up, you come back, everything’s already there, your department’s there, you know what you’re going to get into, it makes it way easier because you just have so many less things on your plate than compared with last year. And how has it been for you thus far? We’re nearly a week in. Yeah, it has been great. I mean, it’s always fun to get back with the with your teammates and and get going and yeah, take that next adventure. The first preseason game is tonight. Describe your level of excitement being able to compete against guys that are not a part of this Tampa Bay Lightning organization. Um, well, if you can’t play for this team, it’s always a great honor and it’s a great pleasure, especially now it has been so many months without playing, without being competitive. So, like getting back into that is amazing. Yeah. You talk about getting back into it. What is your focus in a game like this one as far as is it timing? Is it just um endurance? Like what are you focused on for yourself personally? Yeah, it’s finding the timing. It’s finding like getting your rhythm. I think it’s important to like start simple and not trying to, you know, do the hero plays right away because it Yeah, you haven’t been in that situation for for a little bit of time. So, I think it’s just like start simple and and get the timing right. Get into the groove. Get like comfortable with with the ice, with the tempo, with all your reads, and yeah, basically just get comfortable. And in the normal Tampa Bay Lightning locker room, you’re still one of the newer guys, one of the younger guys, but not tonight. Do you feel you’ll have a leadership role in this game? For sure. I mean, it’s always with your experiences that that you have compared to to the other guys. Obviously, you want to you want to help everyone out. You want to be the leader every single time and especially if you have a lot of younger guys, you want to show them the way and make them feel comfortable as well.
