The Falcons Just Got Good & Bad News Before Monday Night Football

[Music] All right, Dirty Birds fans. We’ve got some good news and of course, we’ve got some bad news. And on today’s Falcons Today episode by Chat Sports, we’re going to give you both the good news and the bad news ahead of the Monday Night Football matchup, which is tomorrow night at the bends between the Atlanta Falcons and the Buffalo Bills. So on today’s episode, Darnell Mooney, we’re going to talk about how he’s out and why I believe honestly the Dirty Birds kind of got shafted by an original report. And then AJ Terrell supposedly back in. We do know that for a fact. And then Billy Bowman, is he playing or is he not? Let’s start with the good news. We’re optimists here on the channel. AJ Terrell is designated to come back. your quarterback one is going to be needed heavily against the Buffalo Bills considering you’re going up against one of the best quarterbacks in the league in Josh Allen. So, let’s talk Mark Rami said this. AJ Terrell has zero injury designation. He then goes on to say Billy Bowman is questionable, but we’ll talk we’ll tackle one player at a time. The first thing I want to say is it feels like the Falcons really can’t catch a break right soon as you get AJ Terrell back. Darnell Mooney is out and as soon as Darnell Mooney’s out, you hear things about Billy Bowman. It’s just like, can we get some positive news? Just positive. That’s it. We don’t need any other designation for any other player. Can we just get the good news that AJ Terrell is back? But that’s not how the world works. So, most likely what you’re going to be looking at is that AJ Terrell will be taking on Khalil Shakir on Monday Night Football. Uh Shakir primarily plays out of the slot, but he is easily the best wide receiver on the Buffalo Bills. I know a lot of people think Keon Coleman is one of those players, but the truth is he’s just not quite there yet. Uh he has a lot of developing that he needs to do in his NFL game before he’s ready to take that next step. So it is Khalil Shakir as their number one. Now AJ is going up against what I like to call a wide receiver by committee. And what does that mean? Well, the wide receiver by committee room is famously coined as a wide receiver room that doesn’t have a true number one. It’s just an amalgamation of a bunch of really good, right? Not great, not elites, just very good. So, if the exact opposite of the Buffalo Bills is, we’ll call the Cincinnati Bengals, right? Jamar Chase, T. Higgins, very topheavy, and then everybody else. The Bills don’t really have that. They don’t have that number one true breakaway wide receiver. They just have a bunch of B minus to B+ wide receivers. And with an A quarterback, that’s essentially all you really need, right? Josh Allen, playmaker, roams outside of the pocket, can do it on with his legs, is kind of his own running game as well outside of a guy like James Cook. So, it should be a good test one-on-one for all of the Falcons corners to go up against this wide receiver by committee room. However, that doesn’t mean that on any given day that they can’t burn you just straight up, right? So, they have Curtis Samuel, they’ve got Shakir, Keon Coleman, and Joshua Palmer, who they got from the Chargers in free agency. It should be a pretty solid matchup between the Falcons corners and the Bills wide receivers. And with the additions that we’ve made on the defensive side of the football, I do believe that this will be a lowercoring game between the Falcons and the Bills. I know there’s a lot of Falcons fans that get down to the comment section and they’re like, “Uh, no, they’re going to get slaughtered.” And the truth is is that if you’re saying that right now, you have zero faith. And if you don’t have no faith, then I don’t want to hear your opinion. So, if you are ready to welcome AJ back, a fully healthy AJ Terrell, do me a favor. Hit that thumbs up icon. It just shows me that you’re a real Falcons fan that believes the highest and that believes that we can shut down these Bills wide receivers. Speaking of wide receivers, let’s talk about the bad news. I’ll go Darnell Moody. And look, I don’t like to be negative all the time, but after the report we got after the Washington Commanders game when we found out that Darnell Mooney had injured his hamstring, we were told one thing and led now to believe a completely different thing because something has happened from the time that that injury occurred to the time that we are here now doing this recording. And I don’t know what happened in between that because Mark Ramandi comes out and says now that Darnell Mooney is not going to play in week six against the Buffalo Bills. But weren’t we led to believe from one highly touted NFL reporter that he wasn’t going to miss time? Yes, we were led to believe that. And I’ll let you know who that was and my kind of thoughts on this as a whole. But before we do that, I got to tell you about our friends over at Factor. They are our presenting sponsors today. And fall always kind of feels like the reset between back to school, busier routines, and shorter days. And that’s why finding time to cook can be tough. And why I also love Factor meals. All right. in Rapaort came out and said that Darnell Mooney, this was right after the Commanders game by the way, had injured his hamstring and was not expected to miss any time. Now, why does that matter to me? Well, if Ian Rapaort, and not saying that these guys get everything 100% correct, but they do pride theirel on a very strong hit rate, right? They wouldn’t come out and say a trade is going down between X team and X team if the trade wasn’t for sure going to happen. So, why should it be any different when they put out injury news? So, here’s what has happened, at least according to Moose. Either one, they’re downplaying the injuries when they get the reports, in which case they shouldn’t be reporting on them, or number two, we need more clarification at the press conferences to the severity of the injury, and that’s a Raheem Morris thing. So, if you mean to tell me that from the time that he injured his hamstring during the Commander game to the point where Rapaort puts out the tweet to now something has happened where that injury has gotten significantly worse or it has already been that bad to the point where you have misled us about the injury. And the reason I say it’s a big deal is because Darnell Mooney is a key piece to this Falcons wide receiver room and this offense. an offense, by the way, that has struggled at times to move the football and put points on the board. So, it does matter. It absolutely matters. It’s not like he’s been amazing this year. He’s kind of been actually a disappointment, but it almost feels like he’s still trying to get his body right. So, now the pass catchers against the Bills are Drake London, Kyle Pittz, Cadrell Haj, Bjon Robinson, and Casey Washington. Gadder Hodgej, by the way, who many of you pointed out, is not a true wide receiver. He’s just a special teams ace. Well, he hasn’t done anything on special teams either. So, if you can take out Cadrell Hodgej on this as well, you have Drake London, Kyle Pittz, Bjon, who has been kind of like your wide receiver, too, and Casey Washington. Do you see why Darnell Mooney is so important? If your number two wide receiver at this point is your running back, that’s an issue. So, I’ll ask you this question about Darnell Mooney before we continue on with the episode. How concerned are you with Darnell Mooney’s injuries? I’m not concerned in the sense that we’re going to miss him for the rest of the year, but I am concerned that we’re downplaying the severity of these guys’ injuries. If you’re missing a game on Monday Night Football in what is arguably one of the most important games of your season, I I don’t know what else to tell you. So, let me know on a scale of 1 to 10. I’ll say like a six and a half, maybe seven. All right, let’s go. Billy Bowman. And Billy Bowman was limited on both Friday and Saturday. Everything that I have read looks like he’s trending towards playing, which is a good sign. But you’ve got to be careful because not only are these younger players like Xavier Watts, Billy Bowman so integral to the future of the Atlanta Falcons defense, it is a key piece to stopping any high-powered offense like the Buffalo Bills. So, here’s what Falcons Wire had to say about Billy Bowman. Billy Bowman, who was added to the injury report on Friday, is listed as questionable as he deals with knee and hamstring injuries. He was able to practice on a limited basis though on Saturday. So, we’ll see. And then the, you know, injury report goes on and on and on. That’s all they really had to say about Billy Bowman Jr. However, remember what I said. This Falcons secondary is proving to be one of the best secondaries we’ve had in quite some time. And that’s even with Mike Hughes playing as bad as he has the last couple of games. AJ Terrell, Bowman, Bates, and Watts are going to be your big four moving forward. My Q’s expendable, replaceable, probably going to go out and draft someone in the 2026 draft. Either way, you need somebody on that CB2 slide or excuse me, CB2 spot. But those four, CB1, nickel, free safety, strong safety, those are the guys that you need going forward on this Falcon secondary for the remainder of the 2025 season and beyond. We need every defensive back that we can against Josh Allen because if for any reason he is going up against a lower tier CB1 or CB2 or a backup, he is going to torch you. So you got to rely on the pass rush to make his life a living hell. You can’t let him get out and use his legs. And you’ve got to play super clean, smart, and lock down football in the secondary. I still believe the Falcons can win this game. Do I think it’s going to be close? Hell yeah. Do I think the Bills at any given Sunday can torch any team? Of course. So, would it shock me if the Bills went out and won this game 35-10? No. Do I think that’s going to happen? No. Either way, you predict the score of this game down in the comment section down below. Right now, I’m trending towards the Falcons winning this game. I’ve got a gut feeling about it. I had a gut feeling against the Commanders. I’m going to ride with the gut. My gut tells me this game is won 25-24. Give me the Atlanta Falcons. Give me the Atlanta Falcon. That’s going to do it for us on today’s episode. A reminder to hit that sub button. Hit the like button if you haven’t already. And if you’re ready for Atlanta Falcons football, we will see you at our watch party tomorrow evening. A reminder to rise up and be cool. [Music]

Atlanta Falcons news before Monday Night football is both good and bad for the dirty birds. The good injury news is that the Falcons will get cornerback A.J. Terrell back in time for their Monday Night Football game vs. the Buffalo Bills. Moose claims the Falcons will need every bit of help on the secondary side, because of the offensive firepower of Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills. The bad news, is that the Darnell Mooney injury is worse than we originally thought, as he has been downgraded from questionable to out in NFL week 6.

  1. Like I said, trade for a WR like Jeudy because Mooney's injury is too severe. Who is their nutritionist and sports scientist? Mooney will not be ready for another month at least. Must win games in a row now.

  2. Meanwhile, the Bucs are winning with literally half of their offensive starters injured. Let's be realistic about our Falcons this year. We don't have a legitimate WR1 or WR2 right now and the only defensive statistic that really matters is points allowed. We also need another starting caliber DB.

  3. Our Cornerbacks will ABSOLUTELY shut this young receiving core down. You seen what Dee Alford did against Teteiora McMillan. And we all know AJ only struggles with freakish receivers like DK or a AJ Brown. But all the “quick receivers” like Garrett Wilson AJ Terrell is locking. Lastly the Billy Bowman emergence has solidified our backend with Watts and Bates blanketing the deep routes

  4. You gotta pay closer attention to the tape Mike Hughes made 3 straight drive stopping plays before giving up a TD last game. He’s better in man coverage than he gets credit for

  5. Falcons are already 0-2 in the division. 7 straight losing seasons and Mckay goes hires a loser head coach who is a pure clown,,proven fact!!!! Falcons are not going any place with a bozo for a coach. Get used it.
Bucs are 5-1 and all their offensive weapons are out. If that happened to the Falcons they would be 0-6!!

  6. did dude js compare a injury report and a trade report🤦🏽‍♂️two different things. and does moose know that likely isn’t 100%? bro js being negative for nun.

  7. Please think!! It's called gamesmanship. Let others prepare for someone to play or not, thus waisting their time and giving us as much a competitive advantage as possible. They'll find out when the league required release happens.

  8. Every other NFC South team won their game. Again! We have to dig deep and find a way to beat either the number 1, or number 2 team in the NFL. We have to keep up in the NFC South race.

  9. If Shakir continues to line up in the slot, I doubt AJ will be the one covering the slot. He rarely leaves the outside. It’s rare in general for an outside corner to just line up in the slot to cover the best receiver specifically.

  10. It's safe to say we're f*cked this year lol Bucs are ballin out ….Penix has 3 touchdown passes in 4 games lol …idk I guess we'll see Hopefully Penix can start throwing for 3 tds a game the only way we're gonna start winning…no more FEILD GOALs
