I promise you, you going to like this. You’re going to like it. Uh shout out to everybody in the chat. Uh Paul saying, “Miss the first half, but looked like a pretty good game.” Well, so let’s start with the first half, Dave, and particularly the first quarter. Yeah, cuz the Bulls again tonight bounced back from a tough start. Yeah, they did. They have been digging themselves holes in these first three preseason games. Um, you could attribute some of that to the fact that Kobe White is not out there helping his guys, but and in the first two games it was just they were they kept turning the ball over a ton. Tonight it wasn’t turnovers. The Bulls were missing shots. The Bucks were making theirs. But again, they fight back and I know you are excited to talk about the fact that always seems like when I Dubu checks in, things start going a little bit better for the Bulls. things changed a little bit there. I mean, it’s game for IO. It’s been the same mo for this Bulls in this preseason. The starters start slow, they get off to a bad start, whether it’s shooting, whether it’s turnovers or whatever. They bring in Io Dumu, everything. The Bulls take the lead, everything settles down. This was his best game of the preseason. Uh scoring wise, he had 22 points uh off the bench in 19 minutes. He was eight of 11 from the field. Uh hit all his free throws, five free throws, which you love to see. One of three from the three-point line. He was a plus five. No turnovers for IO Dumu. Zero. He didn’t have any assists, but no turnovers at all. I thought he had one assist though and one. I don’t know if you’re not looking at the final box score. I’m sure he’s got two. I’m about to say there’s something off on this one right here. Get it together NBA.com. But but yeah man cuz I remember that one the essay that he dropped the finish with the and one that really pretty man but IO is just I mean he’s been on one man like he just looks more commanding out there when he’s playing the game and he’s not waiting for guys anymore. I remember his first couple season felt like he was waiting for guys or he was just picking and choosing his spots. He’s not picking and choosing in the preseason. He’s like I am the choice. I picked myself. I’m gonna go out here and I’m gonna do my thing. Y’all follow me. Oh, fine. You don’t want to follow? Well, I’m about to run this down and go score. Get back on defense. And I’m liking the mentality that he’s playing with, man, because it’s confidence. It’s not cockiness. It’s never been cockiness without the sumu. But it’s it just seems like his confidence, Matt, is just on a whole another level right now. And man, I want to see this in the regular season, this type of stuff. But I’m just so glad to just see how comfortable he is right now out there on the basketball floor with this team and in his spot because I think the sixman is the position he’s going to be in for the Chicago Bulls. Uh I was just about to ask you about that. Uh and uh Eel Yenrak in the chat. Is that Luke backwards and then Carney backwards? I don’t know. What up? Whoever you are, hey, thanks for being here. said maybe IO should start instead of Aoro. Here we are again, Dave. Here we are. So Kevin Herder minor injury has been sitting out the last couple preseason games. The first game Herder and Aoro were in the starting lineup with Giddy Mis and Vu because no Kobe White. Once you assume a healthy Kobe White or healthy enough to start playing next week when the games start mattering. Yeah. Then you got Kobe Josh Misbooch. Who is that fifth? Most people have been talking and assuming about it’s going to be one of Kevin Herder or Isaac Aoro. Yes. But IO and Trey Jones have also made themselves dark horse candidates with their preseason play. Yeah, you can’t deny that IO looks really good out there. And new team, new surroundings, new teammates. It’s been a bit of a adjustment period for Aoro through these three games. Not saying that that is enough to say he doesn’t deserve a starting spot, but start with your best foot forward, right? There is that argument of like, yo, keep Io as that sixth man. Let him lead that second unit, uh, which he does a terrific job of. Get them some easy points in transition when your second unit is kind of devoid of other scoring punch and fire, offensive firepower. But we’re also talking about how the Bulls keep digging themselves these holes to start games. Yeah. Yeah. If you dig out of a hole with IU on the floor, maybe I should be on the floor. Yeah. Where where do you land on on that pendulum? I land right on He should be the sixman. Okay. I’m very comfortable. And I’ll tell you why. It’s not It’s the fact that you have a guy that, you know, if you get down, you can bring in and immediately change the entire game. And I feel like he’s being used properly as the guy who’s coming off the bench as a six-man. Yeah, you’re going to get off to tough starts sometimes. I’m not saying the Bulls are always going to get off to tough starts. They’re going to be games where the Bulls are running teams for sure. But it’s a great feeling, Matt, to know that if you can get off to a tough start, I have somebody I can bring in that can bring it back. And I it’s great to know that if I get off to a good start, I have somebody that can raise that tide as well. So, he can maintain it and he can elevate it. I feel like putting him in the starting lineup would change some things and and I don’t know if I would like that uh very much. I like having her in there or I don’t even mind Aoro, you know, kind of being in there because when I’m thinking of who’s the first one off the bench, I’m more comfortable saying Aodumu than those two previous names coming in off that bench. So, I feel like he does a better service for this team and his value is more important just being that six-man off the bench and coming in and just taking over the game. I don’t think he’ll have that ability to take over the game or I should say that opportunity to truly take over a game if he’s in that starting lineup because I’m immediately thinking Kobe. I’m immediately thinking Modis and and sometimes it’s going to be Josh Giddy when he gets it going. So, I don’t think that they should rock that boat. Matt, I’m cool on that side of the pendulum where he is the six-man. Uh Julia in the comments saying, “I’m always going to vouch for IO.” Hey, Julia. Uh Fish saying IO is totally what they need off the bench. So, sounds like he agrees with you, Dave. Um hopeful Gamer when saying when Kobe is in the starting lineup, there should be less of an offensive hole that IO is filling currently. That’s true. Um and so like I think we’ve seen before IO can play any role that is asked of him. Yes. Starter, bench, cool. Cool. You need me to score? Cool. You need me to facilitate? Cool. You need me to focus on defense first tonight? Cool. He He is one of those players like, “Hey, what do we need tonight?” Yeah. I got you. Yeah. Uh which I think is why I has always been a fan favorite of Bulls fans on top of all of the hometown kid and, you know, the crossover of Ali fans and Bulls fans. Correct. But like he’s a two-way player on his team that is short on two-way players and he always seems to be willing to do the job that is needed of him on any given night depending on who’s in, who’s out, and what the Bulls are playing like. Yeah, man. Which is a good a very good person to be the first person off your bench. That perfectly said and and even watching him at the end of that second quarter, Matt, hitting that step back three, you know, that buzzer beater shot was great. You know what I’m saying? like knowing that he might have that, you know, in his bag. That’s something I feel is more lethal coming off the bench for a second unit on another team when they are bringing in their guys. Well, I got somebody that’s better than all the guys you about to bring in and I can write this ship and get everything going or I can elevate what the Bulls current are currently doing on the floor with the starters. And plus, when you do it like that, I feel like he you have a chance to throw teams off. You have to plan for him now. you have got to put him on the whiteboard in some kind of way. So now, not only are they looking at the starters, they have to say, “Hey guys, this six-man dude, this guy I sumuk off the bench, we got to have something for him. We got to watch out for him, man.” So now when you do it that way, you have you further are making the job difficult for the opposing team and their coaching staff to prepare for you. And the Bulls have to take advantage of everything that they have because they’re not going to be winning games on like just true star power, right, and stuff out there. So, you have to win games on advantages. So, whatever advantage that you have, whether it’s Giddy being bigger than the guard that’s guarding him, whether it’s Kobe being faster and and smoother than the guard that’s guarding him, whether it’s Modis uh being able to handle the ball and the person guarding him doesn’t have the the footwork to stay with him. If it’s Iodumu coming off the bench and they ain’t got nothing for that, they have to play to the advantages when it’s regular season starts. Man, uh speaking of that that starting five and perhaps letting IO thrive in that six-man role, Daryl Helms in the chat said Bulls can’t start Giddy and Isaac Aoro because they’ll have two players who can’t create or shoot the three. So fair observation, we have seen Giddy become a better three-point shooter. At least he was down the stretch last season. And Aoro, uh Isaac Aoro, never high volume, confident enough to take a shot if he’s open. But the thing about creating your own shot or creating your own three on the nose, but because you brought him up, I will just say tonight, best Josh Giddy we’ve seen in the preseason by far. Solid game. Very, very strong game from Josh Giddy. What? I think he finished like 14, eight and seven. Like class, classic Josh Giddy game. Yeah, man. And you were just talking about how like, yay, good for you, IO. Zero turnovers. The Bulls first two preseason games plagued by turnovers. They averaged 23 and a half. Yes. In their first two games tonight, 10 10 10 team turnovers. Much improved. If you’re going to shout out Iowa for zero turnovers, Josh Giddy, zero turnovers. Way to go, buddy. Way to go, buddy. Let’s go, baby. Like this is this is a version of Josh Giddy that even as someone who’s not in love with the guy as a player, I I can get behind. Yes. Like he he made me shake my head barely at all tonight. Yeah. Yes, that’s true. And and like some some of those dimes he had, you know, the the the baseline cut from Pat that was sort of that no look bounce Pat perfectly placed. Like he made some great heads up outlet plays and passes. Like that is the good Josh Giddy. When we get good Josh Giddy, I’m I’m all for it. And knowing that he’s signed and going to be here, I want to see Josh Good Josh Giddy. Yes. More of every night. More of that, please. Like for like you said, 148 and seven is awesome stuff uh from Josh Giddy. But it’s not just that he’s getting 148 and seven. He averages stuff like 148 and seven. It’s the way that he got that 148 and seven. He was not forcing things out there on the floor tonight, Matt. You didn’t see him do it that way. And even he was playing more off ball as well. So he wasn’t handling the ball a lot, but when he got an opportunity to, he was straight facilitating and that facilitating was leading to his offense. That is awesome stuff to see. We’re going to take a break here, but I got I got more to say. I got more to say. We’ll pick back up on what we liked from Josh Giddy on the other side. Reminder, hit that like button. Hit the like button and subscribe if you didn’t do it during the ad break. Uh so we were talking about what we liked from Josh Giddy tonight, Dave before the break. Hopeful gamer in the chat saying big Giddy fan. Uh this game is the baseline for what I want to see from him this season. Yes. And I was I was going to tweet this out and I and I forgot, but I wanted to I wanted to tweet out I wanted to see Josh Giddy have a game. Not an aame, but a game. I saw Modis have a game in his preseason. Uh I saw Lee Patrick have a game in his preseason. I’ve seen SN kind of show signs of some things out there, you know, and and on and on and Yuki and all those other guys. Like I’ve seen guys have, you know, those kind of games and the only one I hadn’t seen was like Noolic and I wasn’t planning on seeing a game from him. I just need him to be ready for the regular season. He has absolutely earned that time off. But Josh Giddy, I’ve wanted to see it because he’s the engine of the offense and I need to know that it clicks and I need to know that it works even without Alec Jacobe White out there on the floor, who we did see video of uh practicing on the uh UC floor tonight before the game, which was great to see. Good to see. But I needed to see Josh Giddy and be more comfortable in the fact that he’s going to be running everything. I just wanted that comfort level to be there. And I saw it tonight and it made me smile and it made me feel better like yes, okay, he can average those big numbers, those goddy numbers that he’s gets, but the turnovers have to be low. That plus minus has to kind of be low. If it’s going to be a minus, it has to be low. I think it was a minus 9, I think, tonight. But I’m not tripping on none of that. The entire starting lineup was somewhere between a minus 8 and a minus 11. That’s exactly why I’m not tripping on none of it. Okay. But I needed to see that comfort of Josh Giddy. He wasn’t forcing any. That was the biggest thing for me, Matt. He was not forcing his way into the paint and just throwing stuff up. He was drawing fouls. And I was going to say the few times it looked like he was out of control stumbling into the paint. He drew drawing foul. That three-pointer that he drew a foul on when he just did the up and under swipe through. Yes, that’s NBA veteran stuff. He understood, you know, how to draw those fouls. He wasn’t just putting his head down and running into people. And that is awesome to see, especially from the guy running your offense. He did not handle the ball a lot, guys. And that was also awesome to see for me because I see him more as a connector. You know, I think if Giddy is more of a connector, he’s a much better facilitator and Yen gets more comfortable within the offense and scores better when everybody’s eating. And it’s great to see that Josh Giddy is like that when everybody he’s watch him in that in that third quarter cuz he came out facilitating. He boom, I got you. Here you go. Here’s a ball for you. Here’s something for you, Modis. Hey, Voots, you didn’t score. Here goes your your pass right here. All right, my time. Let me go inside. Let me get my points. right here. I love seeing that stuff from him, man, because you saw everything kind of pick up from him when he’s involved in every aspect of the offense. It has to be like that for Josh Giddy for him to have that true impact on the Chicago Bulls this season. And that’s what I wanted to see in this preseason game. And I’m very happy that I saw it. Joey, I heard a jingle. Jingle tangle. I think it’s time we talk to a certain time to talk to the cold. Give me the sounds. Hit it, Joe. Yeah. Follow him_galib Goat. Um, the Bulls take their first L of the preseason. Another slow start that they climb out of. But we were talking about what we love to see from IO and Giddy. Both strong games for them tonight. What uh what was your biggest takeaway? Yeah, I mean I think the the guard play continues to be one of the bigger strengths of this team. Um, for me it’s always kind of less about like the individual performances and more about like the the trends that we’re seeing. And obviously there’s only so much you can take away from these preseason games, right? But like turnovers have been a really big deal. That’s been something that this team really needs to cut down on. They were really bad at that during their first two games and they only had 10 turnovers in this entire game. So that was a great step forward. Um, now you kind of look at some of these other four factors here and and obviously the the free throw shooting was a huge advantage for the Bulls. I think that speaks to their aggressiveness, getting downhill, getting to the basket, making plays, um, and just playing with pace, right? Like they’re they’re not able to really break guys down individually, but they’ve got a bunch of guys that are going to attack, attack, attack. Um, and that’s what they allows them to make this a close game despite the fact that they made, you know, they had 27 fewer points on three-pointers than their opponent. So, um it’s just about like, you know, this like all these different things that you can like, you know, add a little bit of pace here, but that’s going to turn up the turnovers, but it might, you know, also turn up the rim attempts. And so, it’s like figuring out what’s the right balance of each thing. Um, and obviously tonight, the fouls were great. The the turnovers were great for the most part. Obviously, there were a handful that they would love to have back. Um, particularly Patrick Williams, who had four, but I thought Pat had a really good game. We could talk about him. And, um, it’s just going to be about finding consistency with all three of those things, right? um all four of those things really of of turnovers, fouls, offensive rebounds, um and yeah, the three-point battle and um finding a way to get to a level where you’re not sacrificing too much, but also still maximizing everything that you can. Uh well, I I really like this matchup for the Bulls. I feel like these these are the kind of teams that the Bulls are going to be facing uh in the Eastern Conference. Um, even Milwaukee, I mean, you’re gonna have your your uber star, you know what I mean, in a guy like Giannis and just the rest of those surrounding casts. They took what, 41 threes, so now I think we’re 18 to 41, 43% from three uh was Milwaukee. Do you feel that same kind of wages after watching the Bulls and how they played against this team? Obviously, the win and losses don’t matter, but just how they played against this team and and how they went about, you know, their business on both sides of the ball against a team that I think that they’re going to be playing against a lot during the season. Yeah, I think they need to continue to do a better job defensively of not necessarily like, you know, just blocking a bunch of shots, but like taking away some of those driving lanes. Um, we talked about it last game with like modest jumping on uh the pump fakes in the corner three. It’s like those are things that allow drives to happen in the first place. And if you can cut down on those, maybe you can paper over the fact that you don’t have great rim protection down there. Um, and so I think that’s going to be a big one because they did shoot the ball very well um across the board. 48% from the field, 42% on threes. Like it’s just it’s hard to win when you’re when your opponents are scoring 23s or making 23s in a game. That’s just like a a threshold that’s very difficult to defend against. And obviously this wasn’t like a full game of like the starters playing regular minutes. Um, but I think taking away paint penetration as much as possible, uh, that’s going to help them be in situations where they’re not giving up those threes and drives in the first place. And, and that’s that’s the the whole key with the physicality stuff that they’ve been talking about. So, I think that’s just going to be a thing that we talk about probably every game because it’s going to be what Billy talks about after every game. Um, and then offensively, like I said, just like taking care of the ball, trying to get as close as you can, uh, as close as they can to winning the possession battle. um if not just winning it outright. Uh and and that should kind of put the math in their favor a little bit and help make up for the fact that yeah, they don’t have a Giannis on this team, but they’ve got a bunch of guys. They can play fast. They’ve got depth. Um and sort of use that as their competitive advantage. Go. You mentioned the physicality. Uh you know, Dalon got ejected tonight after a little scuffle with Torian Prince. We saw Emanuel Miller lose a tooth down the stretch the fourth quarter there. Apparently IO also got cut. I was talking after their second game against the Cavs about how he liked all the fouling and physicality with the Cavs because it was, you know, they’ve been fouling the h the heck out of each other in these training camp practices. What, you know, did you see something uh tonight that was perhaps a sign that this Bulls team is in fact ready to be a more physical and face the physical challenges team this year compared to last? Yeah, we talked to Dylan a little bit after the game and he was saying like, you know, before everything else, I’m a man. I’m going to try to pro protect myself. Um, and that was kind of his thought about that whole thing. Um, but I think the interesting piece of what he said was that like he appreciated Zack Collins kind of stepping up for him and being there for him and he felt like he would be there for anybody else on this team and that, you know, whether they’re winning or losing, like that’s something that they can take with them. And so, um, I think that’s part of being physical, right, is like being prepared to like be physical when necessary. But I think it’s also like some of that smaller stuff of just like picking up the ball full court, like really, you know, jumping over screens and getting skinny and staying attached at the hip to guys that you’re defending. I think they all kind of fall under that same bucket. Um, but I think that they’re improving in all those areas and having enforcer types obviously really helps there um when you know something does come up. Uh, but I think that there’s this is like a group that feels very tight to me that like feels very connected and they have good camaraderie. Um, and so I think, you know, when you have guys that are not afraid of confrontation and you’re playing a physical game, I I think I saw uh, you know, a tweet from DNVR actually uh, about Jokic saying that they’re they’re like testing ref. So I think across the board uh, teams are just being a little bit more physical. They’re testing each other a little bit. They’re testing referees to see what they can get away with and what they’ll call. Um, and then yeah, they’re ready to go when when necessary. Well, I wanted to ask you about Modis and his game that he had. uh because we haven’t dived into it. Tough, but 19 points, you know, the four rebounds going against Yianis Giannis. Um making it tough on Giannis, you know what I’m saying? In some instances, also got cooked a couple times. Yeah. Oh, he got it’s Giannis. You know what I’m saying? It’s going to happen that way. But just what did you feel about his game and why did you think that this was his best performance of the preseason? You think it was a better game than the first one? I feel like they’re both really good. It’s hard to pick between the two. I for me it was because of the opponent of who he was doing it against and that’s why I was like, “Oh yeah, I’m gonna select this one.” Strictly because it was on Giannis and I know the Cavs are a better team and that’s Moy and it’s no joke over there going against Giannis is Giannis. You know what I mean? For sure. I mean, look, the fact that we’re splitting hairs here between which of these two performances is definitely a good sign. Um, I think the efficiency is huge for me. Like that’s again, we’ve talked about this so much of like the Bulls not having efficient shot graders. I still don’t think that Modis is at a point right now where you’re like running offense through him and he’s isolating and he’s attacking guys one-on-one, but like five free throw attempts in 25 minutes um that covers up for the fact that yeah, he shot two of six on threes. Like if he plays like this uh within the pace of and and flow of the game, like he’s going to get those. He had one stretch where it was like an atto play. He was in the corner and he back cut and got that alioop from Vu and then he came back on the other end got a little bit beat by Kevin Porter Jr. which is going to happen if he’s switching on to guards but he came back and contested the shot and forced a miss and then ran the break. Got a layup on a pass from Trey Jones. Like that sequence to me is just like four easy points and defending the rim and being switchable and like playing the type of basketball the Bulls want to play. Like that’s how he’s going to that’s how he’s going to like make his living this year. and then whatever else he adds on top of that. Um, I think obviously that’s even better. Uh, but to me, like if he can just do that, he’s going to have efficient scoring nights like this. And I feel like that this can be sort of like the baseline. Like there’s only 25 minutes, but would it surprise me if he just did this for 82 games? You know, probably not honestly. Like I think he’s going to have some ups and downs. Maybe he has like some 30-point games, maybe has some 10-point games, but like if he finishes the season playing the way that he is right now, like 18, 19 points per game does not seem that out of the question because he’s just, it’s not so much about like I’m relying on my own shot creation to make tough shots. It’s I’m getting to the rim in the flow of the offense. I’m getting easy looks. I’m getting to the foul line, converting my shots, and I’m taking open threes when they’re available to me, and I’m attacking close outs when I get a contest. Um, and that’s just like a simple that’s like when when guys say like it’s a simple game. You just got to make the right decision. Like that’s what he’s doing. Uh, and that’s great for a young player who’s 21 years old. I think he just turned 21 or he’s about to turn 21. Um, I think actually his birthday’s this week. Um, he will turn 21 if I recall. Uh, but in any event, like that’s fantastic for a guy that has all the tools that he has. And I think it just speaks to the fact that he is really learning the game and learning how to play. And that’s where you start to get excited about him taking off a little bit because then when he adds some of that independent individual scoring, now he’s really thriving. Goat, we’ve seen more positive comments about Lee Patrick aka Patrick Williams in our chat tonight. You wrote about his strong play through their first two preseason games. Bulls Nation, go read that allcow.com. Another night tonight where Pat is like, “Hey, look at me. I got a pulse. I’m I’m crashing the the the boards. He did still have some pretty Patrick Williams turnovers. Sure. But what are you making of this version of Pat that we’re seeing in three preseason games? Yeah. Yeah, I’m going to start with like what Billy and Pat said and then I’ll give my take on it after because I think uh yeah, I mean he’s just been playing really well. And we asked Billy about it uh after the game and he was kind of saying like, you know, he’s he said this before the previous game, so before the Cavs second game uh which was here, that like Patrick’s going to have to kind of carve out a niche for himself. And I thought that was pretty interesting departure from like where everybody else has been, which is like that he has the star potential and he just like untapped and then you know he couldn’t play and everybody was pissed about it. Um but I think he is starting to put together some performances where it’s like yes there’s going to be mistakes. Yes, there’s going to be turnovers but the fact that he is putting his imprint on the game is something I think Billy really appreciates and values and was saying that like if he’s playing like this then he’s going to be a big part of our rotation and they’re going to be a deep team anyway. he’s going to need to. Now, he also made the caveat that like if there isn’t that consistency there and he’s not playing well, like his minutes are going to be subject to that the same way everybody else’s will. Um, but I think that that’s kind of where Billy is with Patrick and I think it’s where, you know, I think we talked to Patrick after that and we were kind of asking him about his role um, and sort of carving out a niche for himself and he didn’t really want to go there in terms of like saying he was a role player. Um, but he did say like repeatedly that he really trusts his body right now. And I asked him, “Did you not trust your body last year?” And he said like, “I don’t want to make any excuses. I went out there, I suited up, and I played.” Um, so that’s that. And so to me, that was him avoiding the avoiding the, you know, comment that like he was not really trusting his body last year. And I think you see the difference in what that looks like on a night like tonight where he is boxing out. He had I think maybe his best play of the game was like a box out on Bobby Poris that uh he tipped the rebound to. It was the first quarter when he came in. He tipped the rebound away. Didn’t get credit for it. Like that was huge physical box out. That’s not something that we would have seen from him last year. And you know, I mean, if he gets a rebound for that, he’s got nine rebounds. It’s like I mean, it’s just a really solid game from him. And I think he’s sort of sort of saying and clearly you can see watching that he’s really trusting himself. Now, I don’t know how much of a difference that is from last year. I mean, he kind of declined to to comment on that, but um I think if you’re going to see a Patrick Williams that’s like more willing to make plays with his body, then you’re going to see more stats. And I think in that include more turnovers. Like if he’s putting the ball on the floor more, he’s probably going to turn over more. But I think that’s sort of a balance that the Bulls are going to have to live with of yes, we’re getting that, you know, impact on the game. And if that happens to include some more turnovers because he’s being aggressive attacking closeouts and driving to the rim, like I think his decision-m can be better, I think he can read the game and process things more quickly. Um, but that’s a trade-off I’m I’m willing to take for Patrick to to have that kind of an impact the way he did tonight. Well, we’ll see if he can keep it going uh in their final two preseason games and if it adjusts where Billy sees him in his rotation. Go. We appreciate the time and the insights, buddy. Bulls Nation. Uh we were talking with coach just before that break about what he saw from Pat. And not only that, but what Billy and Pat were saying, you know, uh about what Pat has been showing us so far. Yes. Uh we actually got a little piece of that courtesy of Willy Go. If you want to tee that up now, Mr. Joey C. games. You personally, uh, I feel good. I feel good. Um, I think the preseason is for finding the rhythm, catching the rhythm. I think we’re doing that as a team. Um, I think for for me individually and for us as a group, I think we’re seeing things that we can do really, really well. Um, things that’ll, you know, help us win games late in the season. Um, but then also things that could cost us games. We got to, you know, preseason games discouraging. Joey, we got that pad audio. Let’s do it on games. You personally, uh, I feel good. I feel good. Um, I think the preseason is for finding a rhythm, catching a rhythm. I think we’re doing that as a team. Um, I think for for me individually and for us as as a group, I think we’re seeing things that we can do really really well. Um, things that’ll, you know, help us win games late in the season. Um, but then also things that could cost us games. We got to, you know, you know, clean up on those things and, um, that’s the focus. I think I think preseason has been really good for us. Training camp has been really good for us in terms of setting an identity, um, who we’re going to be and just about sticking to it. You’ve been pretty decisive in your decision- making. Do you feel like you’re in a good rhythm right now with your game? Yeah. Yeah, we’re getting there. We’re getting there. Um it half of it is just about being confident in my body. I think that’s that’s been the main thing about it. Um so I kind of just focus on that, you know, just knowing I have full trust in my body. I I had a good summer where I was able to test my body in ways that I wasn’t before. You know what I mean? Um, still still a ways to go for me individually and for us as a group, but um, I like where we’re at. When your role is defined, you know exactly what you’re going to have to do and what you’re going to have to do. Uh, I think that just kind of is something that you build out through throughout the season, obviously throughout the the preseason, but the season as well. Um, I think we we’ve seen in so many different situations and scenarios where guys roles change and um, you know, throughout the season you’re called on to do whatever whatever needs to be done. Um, but for me, I just try to go out there and play, try to make plays on both ends. Um, and just try to stay on the court. Billy before the game the other night was just saying that you know while being mindful of where you were drafted that you guys have talked about you know like it’s probably time for and there’s room for you to find a role like a a niche is the the word he used like it’s probably time for that. Is that sort of the way you see things now? Is that kind of the way you’re approaching the season now in terms of finding a niche? Like yeah finding a niche like that’s kind of the part where you’re at in your career is what you saying? Nah, nah, nah. Um, for me it’s just one trying to win games. I’ve always just tried to do whatever it takes to win games. That’s that’s that’s the kind of player I am. That’s the kind of team we have. We just trying to win games. Um, but in terms of uh terms of finding a niche, man, it’s it’s kind of like I told him, just about staying on the court, I think all that kind of figures out itself. Type of player I am, the skill I have, the size I have, athleticism, that’ll that’ll take care of itself. just about staying on the court because it sounds as as simple as it sounds. I haven’t been able to do a lot. So, um, not taking advantage of it or not taking it for granted, taking advantage of of every opportunity, every practice, every game, just trying to get better. What about I mean, Billy was talking about consistency being a big thing, not just with you, but every young player, right? Um, what’s the key to building on this game and just the last couple games you had to play like that consistently throughout the season? Uh, I mean that’s a good question. It’s um this league is is full of so many good players and I think the one thing that separates the great ones from the good ones is consistency. I think you see a lot of good players have good nights. Um, but only the great ones can find a consistency that like like that and that’s that’s the tough part. Um, but for me I is I I hate to beat a dead horse, but staying on the court has been a big one. And feeling confident about my body each and every day I step on the court has been a big one. So that’s that was a huge focus going into this offseason. Obviously the skill part, but I think I’ve I’ve had a lot of skill. I have a lot of skill. Um, I think we know that, team knows that, coaching staff knows that. It’s just about, like you said, being consistent. I think that kind of starts from staying on the floor. Do you feel like you were secondg guessing your body last year more? like were you as confident as it seems like you are now in that? I never want to have any excuses. So I I I I tied my shoes and I and I went out on that court and the product wasn’t what I wanted it to be. So uh regardless of what whatever reason that may have been um that was that was what happened. So you know you live with it. Um I if I can play I’m I’m I’m a player. I don’t care if I’m feeling 50% 30% 80% I’m trying to play. Okay. So, I would I would I wouldn’t take it back. Could that be a reason why? I mean, like eight rebounds, you’re boxing out like way more tonight. And just is there that level of trust in your body that you feel like you’re able to do that more now? Yeah, for sure. Um, like I said, just kind of having a summer where I was able to kind of push my body and go two, three days in a row, go four days in a row, you know, with with uh with with training and weights and stuff like that. I think just psychologically I can step out there on the court and know my mind can go blank in terms of worrying about my body, worrying about what foot I jump off of, worrying about you know my landing, how I’m landing, things like that that um you know kind of after injury kind of takes a while to kind of turn your brain off to those things again with that sorry with that you know it felt like you talked a lot about this summer being about conditioning. Um, I guess how much of it is, you know, medical letting you know where your body can go, how much you can do. How much of it is you inquiring about, you know, how far you can push yourself after these past procedures? Um, well, it’s different when you have injuries. Injuries is is is always you have to listen to the medical. You have to listen to cuz I a lot of injuries that I’ve had, I’ve never been through before. I’ve never had two surgeries before. I never had, you know, those kind of things before. Um, so I’m really just, you know, kind of listening to those guys in terms of, uh, and also just listening to your body, you know, I think kind of when you have surgeries or injuries like that, sometimes you go hard and then it’s sore the next day. It’s kind of feeling the way the next day. Um, so it’s listening to those guys in terms of you don’t want to go through that again, you know? So be smart about when you’re working out, how you’re working out, things like that. I think when you’re healthy, it’s just you go work, you know what I mean? um in that in that sense you were saying it’s more on me in terms of what can I do what can I do lean on those guys um go based off how you feeling but it’s been it’s been good to be healthy feels good to be healthy you know I looks good healthy so I think if we can stay healthy it’s it’s we’ll be good thanks Patrick thanks a lot we appreciate it all right so that was that was Patrick Williams after tonight’s game uh a Bulls loss but another encouraging showing of minutes from Patrick Williams. Shout out to our guy Will the Goat for not only capturing the footage but sending it our way. Uh and somebody in the chat just said goat William goat’s asking the tough questions. Hell yeah. Those are the only kind of questions the goat asked. Yes. Yes. The goat, ladies and gentlemen. Uh and goat’s a question to Pat about like you know how do you carry this like I’m happy I’m healthy. Last year was a problem. Mhm. How do you carry that? Like I’m happy that I’m healthy and you are healthy clearly momentum into this season because as you were saying a moment ago, Dave, with Pat, a lot of it’s just been consistency being an issue. Yes. When when we do uh we now do our recaps after the game. Yeah. Uh now, make sure you guys go read that all cgo.com and those are free. And those are free. All of y’all can enjoy. But our immediate uh reactions after each game, we will be doing that all season long. If you when you read mine and I talk about my man Lee, you will see the word consistency mentioned in bold loud letters about 665 times. Cuz all I kept talking about was consistency. I was like, “Yes, this is great to see it.” And it’s great to see it because I’ve seen it consistently in this preeason. All scoring consistent, rebounding consistent, the assist consistent, the physicality consistent. That’s what I want to see from young Lee Patrick is I just want him to be consistent in his play. He’s going to make mistakes. You’re going to mess up. You’re going to struggle. All those things are going to happen. But that should never I should never not still fe feel you when you’re on the floor. As you said, Billy Donovan talks about, I should never have that point of, “Oh, yeah, Patrick’s out there.” No, no. I want to see Lee Patrick all the time. I want to see them shoulders sweating. I want to see it glistening on the forehead because he’s out there working, boxing out centers and forwards, man. Because there’s still a Patrick Williams size hole on this team. Forget the offense on this team. There’s a Patrick Williams size hole. And hopefully Lee Patrick is the one that can feel that up, man. So, it was great to hear him say those things, but not only just great to hear him say it, Matt. Yeah, it’s great to watch him actually go out there and do it. It’s true. And you know, somebody in the chat just said, “What’s people going to do when echo garbage minutes go away?” I don’t know what echo gararbage minutes mean, but like he’s been getting minutes in the preseason when Billy’s running through basically all 15. Couple of guys have been out for the last couple of games, including Julian Phillips, one of those other young Bulls that is fighting for backend rotation minutes alongside Dalen Terry. Uh, and names like that. But in these last two games, I guess worth pointing out that Pat has jumped from what was he like 11th man in their first preseason game to seventh. Yes. Sofortable. It’s possible that we see Pat because I I was thinking most of the offseason and saying out loud on this show most of the offseason. I don’t know where Pat squeezes into this Billy rotation next season because of what we have. Correct. Aoro still here. You you liked what you saw from Zack Collins. You just resigned Trey Jones. Like where are Pats? Obviously modest priority 1A as far as forward minutes right now. M where are these where are these Pat minutes going to come from? And I genuinely did not know if we were going to see Pat minutes out of the gate. And again, this is preseason. We’ll see what happens when we get to game one against the Pistons next Tuesday. Sure. But I I am encouraged that Patrick Williams looks like a beating heart human. Talks a little who actually might have some experience playing basketball at a high level. Yeah. Yeah. It’s fun. I am not however ready to say he deserves to be here in Billy’s rotation once the games start counting for real. Like you I’m sorry you burn me too many times and I’m not going to trust you cuz you grabbed eight rebounds in a preseason game or you look less confused and more confident than you have in a long time in a few preseason games. Yeah. like you it’s to me it’s like I don’t know if you ever got those lectures from your parent or parents back in the day or you Joey when you did something perhaps ill advised you might even say stupid I’ve never done anything wrong not even in this show never well good for you I can’t say proud of you Joey C I did plenty of stupid when I was young some of it illegal and sometimes my parents caught me doing said stupid things and it’s like okay you’ve broken our trust Uhhuh. You need to earn it back. That is how I feel about Patrick Williams coming into this season. After last season, I was like, I am D O N E done with this dude. I know he’s got four more years on his contract. I’m done. So, I like I like this version of Lee Patrick that we’ve seen, but as far as handing him some minutes, not yet. Not yet. Not Not yet. And the tier I I had put him in, Matt, coming into this, I was like, he’s in tier three or tier four for me. And that tier was guys who are fighting for minutes. That’s uh Dalon, that’s Julian, and that’s Noah Essen and Jaylen Smith. Those guys who will be fighting for minutes on this team to get on the floor. I was like, he’s got to earn that. Like you just stated, he’s got to move his way back up. You looked at it from a parents perspective. I looked at it like a relationship. You know what I mean? when you’ve done something wrong in a relationship and you done some you done your girl wrong like you you can’t just give her flowers after after you done scorned her for like the 65th time. You got to start putting in some real earned like trust back. You got to start doing things. You can’t bring the flowers no more. No man, you got to show up, bro. Like things have to be done to earn that trust back to allow her to get back in those good graces with you. So that’s where Patrick is. Yes. It’s nice. It’s great. I love seeing Lee Patrick do his thing pre-season when the season starts. I’m gonna need to see that consistency, sir. It has to be there for this team. They need it. That’s both metaphors work. Yeah, I like yours, too. But that is the one where like Joey before I would have spoken up and said, “Oh, I’ve never never doing it again.” No, no, no. I’ I’ve never made a mistake in that department. Oh, okay. Of course not. Cannot take that. Batting a thousand. Um So, uh, we also saw our first ejection of the season. Yeah, baby. Day Terry. Let’s go. Our guy. Let’s go. Uh, we were able to have a nice chat with him here in studio just a couple weeks back. Uh, right on the heel on the precipice of training camp. Um, another guy looking to carve out a role for himself on this young scrappy Bulls team. He got ejected tonight. He did. I thought it was a very weak ejection. Okay. the apparently after the official review, they deemed it to be an attempted punch thrown from Dalon. Okay, I saw none of that when they played the replay several times. He didn’t throw a punch. I ain’t seen nothing. Anyway, Dalen told part of his side of the story. Uh, also in tonight’s postgame locker room courtesy of the GOAT, Joey, take it away. Teasing you about us about it. We can ask you about what happens from your perspective. Um, went up to the basket, got graphed. Um, my man, before anything, I had to defend myself. I felt like it was some some touching I didn’t like. You know what I’m saying? So, y’all seen what happened. Yeah. Um, did you agree with the ejection? Um, I mean, Russ made a decision. They made a decision and that’s just what it is. I guess I got to live with it. We go to the next day. Did you feel like you attempted to throw a punch? That’s the reason you got ejected. You think I threw a punch? I asked you. Doesn’t matter what I think. Doesn’t matter what I think. That’s what you think. No sir, I did not throw a punch. Just curious or um not necessarily. I was just saying that at the end of the day, I’m a man before anything like I can’t go home if I don’t if I don’t defend myself. You know what I’m saying? That’s how I look at it. Um whether I got ejected or not, at the end of the day, I’m a man before the game. Just curious, those those things start kind of inadvertently when a player grabs you. Is do you wonder why doesn’t he just let go? Yeah, that was my thoughts right there. Why did he not just let go? I mean, why does that have I mean, doesn’t seem to make sense. I guess you guys should go over there and interview him because at the end of the day, I don’t know. But you didn’t do anything that caused him to hold on, right? Hey, I think we was watching the same game. I’m be honest. I’m going be honest. Jaylen, this is obviously a tight-knit group. It looked like everyone kind of had your back and support you and that. I mean, what does that kind of say? Yeah. What does that say about where this team’s at? Um, I know one thing is that everybody everyone in my teammates got my back and I got theirs. Um, and it obviously it was unfortunate this happened in preseason, but I mean signing for a good year. I know I know something happened, we going to all be together and I feel like we going to be the same way when we win and we winning or losing. So, at the end of the day, I think that we a good group of guys and it’s a good it’s a positive sign up togetherness. Thank you. Appreciate talking. I like that. That was Denon Terry after tonight’s game after his ejection. his side of the story. I I team Dalon. I thought that was a bogus ejection every day. Torian Prince, screw you. What what I liked most was what he said about Zack Collins coming to his side. Yeah. When that was happening because that’s exactly what I was thinking when I was watching it. I was like, “Oh snap, Zack Collins jumped in it.” I’m not used to watching Bulls play jumping to it with guys like that. Yeah. For me, that says that sets a tone. That’s what that stuff does in a preeason. It already sets a tone of guys who are ready to scrap and guys who are ready to be physical and have your back when something is going down like that. So that’s great, man. When I saw Zack Collins pull up like that on him. Like it’s not like he ain’t think Dalen could handle his own stuff. It’s just like, “No, bro. This my teammate. This my guy right here. You can’t just be running up on him like that.” So I loved it. I loved that what I saw. I know Stacy King loved it because he talked about it for real and I’m and I was with him on that, man. But yeah, that was that was cool to see that you’re just not going to let dudes push your teammates around. Uh yeah, attempt to this team needs more of what Dalen Terry has, which is, you know, don’t f with me. Goon or or you’re going to get fed with. That’s right. Like Yeah. Goon. Goon. It needs some some toughness. It really does. Uh and again, they’ve been preaching Billy has been preaching physicality. He has uh they harped on it with the the specifically the playin tournament loss to Miami like okay sure that was one of many examples of this team being you know they play fast but they don’t play hard they’re not like hard as in physically hard right uh they don’t play tough so you know if if that is something that they can turn into a part of their identity and it’s another reason why you just root for Dalen because like you’re you’re this team needs more of his brain dispersed throughout the entire team. That’s right. I got a belt ready for all y’all, baby. Got a If it were a belt ready. I mean, yeah, ready. Conor in the chat said, “Goon commander and chief.” Let’s go, baby. Let’s go. Also, William as saying that DT interview made me go full pescatarian. I’m down six pounds. Referencing when TT told us on our show that he went pescatarian. Wow. Look at you. Congratulations. That’s awesome, man. That’s hilarious. I like that. when you went and became a pescatarian. I know it was a long time ago. You might not even remember. Did you lose weight when you became a pescatarian? No, not immediately. Because when I did it, I didn’t know what what to eat. So, I was still eating like crap. Yeah. So, it was still like, “Oh, yeah. Well, bet. I’ll just eat a bunch of cheese pizzas and a bunch of fries all day long.” You know what I’m saying? What? What’s going on? Where my pudding going? Right. So, yeah, you have to is it simply because again, he’s a millionaire. Yeah. He’s like, I got a chef that told me the things that I need to eat. I had to go through a whole process for years to figure it out how it was supposed to go. And when I did that, okay, it clicked and then weight started falling off me for sure. Good time to know. Uh, as we uh wrap up, a few more final thoughts. We’ll head to overtime. For those of you watching on our streaming services, uh just head to allcow.com if you want that bonus coverage. Uh so encouraging uh game despite the result and again it’s preseason unless you’re playing your real rotation through the full 48 minutes. The W or the L doesn’t mean so much as we now look forward Dave we got the Nuggets out in Denver on Tuesdays get a little day in between. We’ll see if I’m not sure I didn’t ask goat if they’re going to have practice uh tomorrow before uh flying I assume they’re flying to Denver tomorrow afternoon or evening. Safe assumption. Uh but so we’ll see about that. I don’t know about you, what I would like to see and assuming the Denver Nuggets play the actual Denver Nuggets out of the gate for their side of the ball is going to be tricky. Little bit. But the Bulls have gone down big early. Yeah. In each of these three first preseason games. Correct. So we’ll see who’s out there for the Bulls starting five. if it’s the same as tonight or if it’s an adjustment, somebody else sitting, somebody coming back. TBD, whoever is out there to start, I don’t care. I would like to see you know, first time out called and the Bulls not down 10 because that’s basically happened in each of the first three games. Yeah. So, can you improve upon that? Yeah. Is what I’d like to see. What do you want to be looking for out in Denver? Um, well, always Yuki. I’m g I’m going to need to see him out there on the floor. He has some general soreness tonight. Um, so he did not play. Joic. Ha. How about Yuki? Yuki and No, Yuki Mania. The Joker. We got the We got the Joker. That’s right. Yuki Mania, baby. Running wild. So, I want to see him I want to see uh Lee continue to do what he’s been doing. I want to see Lee Patrick continue with the consistency. Um, and I’d like to see just them put it together like you, Matt. Like I want to see the starters put it together because however if uh Alec Jacobe White is going to be out there or not, the other three main guys are going to be out there. That’s Modis and that’s Vu and that’s Josh Giddy. Yeah. Whether it’s going to be We don’t know about Herder or Coro yet. Um and we don’t know uh when Kobe White will be back. We hope it’s the next uh preseason game as Billy Donovan stated. That’s right. But those three are going to be there. So I’m going to need to see that click. And I saw I’ve seen it click with um Modis and with Josh Giddy on several plays. They have absolutely have a chemistry that they had developed last season coming down the pike uh of finishing that season. We saw them start clicking a little bit. So if Voo wants to get involved again, I’m not pushing Vouch to do anything. All right? But if he wants to get involved and you know get get into it, get into a nice little rhythm, work up a little lather, you know, out there, I’m cool with it, man. So, I want to see that. And like I said, Yuki is cool. And and if Julian Phillips comes back, I’d like to see him, you know, kind of give some of those minutes, too. Uh, the other thing I just I need to see more of in Denver, Dave. Javon Carter, you got to get up more shots, buddy. You got to get up more shots. Javon Carter, you only took 17 shots. 17. Wait for it. Four of 17. Javon Carter. I don’t know if this is Billy and the Bulls maybe trying to give Javon a little juice in some preseason games to draw some other teams attention. I don’t know. Or maybe or maybe they’re gonna try the Javon Carter experience again to start this season. What a ride, baby. He got lost. He wasn’t even on the bench. He was in the tunnel for most of last season. Like yeah, he he he went four of 17 tonight. I was about to say 20 shots and three of 12 from downtown. I for was about to say, let’s see if he gets 20 shots. He’s like, yeah, he got 17. 17. I’m assuming that that led the team. Uh, yeah, sure did. Shout out to Iowa was second with 12. Javon Carter took 17. Shout out to you, man. What else on this floor? I’m going get these buckets, man. I ain’t even mad at them, dog. Get them shots up. That’s right. Well, uh, we’ll get out of here. It is a Sunday night. Everybody get needs to get a fresh start. Tomorrow is a fresh week. We will be back here tomorrow afternoon for a live pod for y’all at our usual inseason pod time, 4:30 central. Yeah. Uh we’ll see if we also get some Bulls practice action and news to talk about in that show. But we’ll be here either way talking about something Bulls and NBA related. That’s right. In the meantime, read that instant reaction column that’s up now that Dave was mentioning earlier. Free to all, not just dieards alch.com. Also read the great die hard stuff that goat is writing just for you dieards. Uh follow him_ly. Big Dave Bow BL Sports. I’m Bulls Peek. We are CO_Bulls. Shout out to our hardworking king of the controls, Joey C. and only. Shout out again to CO Cubs for their great coverage of the postseason. Now, I didn’t I didn’t want to bring it up. You know, it’s a nice happy rounding out of the show, but it was a lot of fun to watch y’all watch it. My broken heart. My broken broken heart. I think they did the best they could. How much will a Bears W tomorrow heal your broken Cubs heart? Oh, wow. That is a that is a bomb on a wound right there. You got to bring me back. I’ll be doing cartwheels in no time. Get that sound together. That’s right. As big Dave used to say about Tamar D Rozan all the time back in the day after a bull sputtering offense for five or six straight possessions at Tamar Midi. It’s a healing s the baby. That is Spanish for south. All right. Also Emanuel Miller feel better dude. Feel better. Toothy. I mean I hope it goes well. Yeah. Oh, and and quick shout out. Birthday shout out. My sweet Rory girl. My niece turned six years old today. Oh, for real? Too big. Getting too big. Rory, stop growing. I don’t like it. Had a nice little face facetime with them earlier today. She got a pair of roller skates knee pads ready to go. I was so jealous. I had so much FOMO. I was like, I want to go rollerblading. I’m glad. Shout out to my nephew whose birthday was on the 11th. Bam. Shout out to him. And I and shout out to my man uh Ivan who you’ve met. Um shout out to him and and his family. His son Micah turned five years old. I was at the party on Saturday. Um yeah, shout out to him turning five. That was awesome. I had a great time. So shout out. You have any nieces or nephews with birthdays? I got a nephew with a birthday coming in April 202. All right, Bull Nation. Hit the like on your way out if you haven’t done it yet. Subscribe as we climb to 90K. Yes. Um, tune in tomorrow. We’ll see you at 4:30 Central. And then, of course, CHO Bears will have pre and postgame coverage for y’all. Uh, book ending Monday Night Football. See where be good. Thanks for tuning in. Peace. [Music] [Applause] like the mayor.

Ayo>I.O.
Ayo, Trey, Huerter, PWill and Collins first five off the bench.
Staying on the court, trusting his body sounds like the injury affected his development the past 2 years. He won't admit it because he's humble, but it's clear that if he's healthy, he can have an impact like his first 3 years with 1 of those 3 as well being a wrist injury similar to 1 that AC suffered
Ayo should start if you ask him he want to start he has earned it trust tre to be the six man , fk that bench ayo want to be paid as a starter , okoro need to earn his spot
Okoro should not be starting
