Am I frustrated that we haven’t been elite in a while? Yes. But is Tomlin still a great coach? Absolutely. It’s not fluke that he gets the best out of this players and I’m optimistic we might make some noise this year.

  1. He’s a hall of fame coach for sure, but I’m going to need to see a playoff victory before I’ll say I want him coaching the team until he retires. He’s gotta win some big games when it matters the most. Since, 2017 we’ve ended each season with either missing the playoffs or end-of-season collapses the minute the competition gets tougher.

  2. Nah you’ve got to perform miracles with a bad team to get them to the playoffs – and then also magically beat the best teams in the league with a major QB disadvantage to be a good coach. Once you get to the playoffs the quality of your team doesn’t matter. The whole rest of the 16/17 game sample size doesn’t matter. Obviously.

  3. Same man that hasn’t won a playoff game in nearly 10 years and hasn’t been to a Super Bowl in 15 years.

  4. With a very talented and highly paid defense, yet had both sides of the ball collapse at the end of the season regardless

  5. I remember he went 0-4 at the end of last year and lost to the ravens in the wildcard game

  6. Arthur Smith still had the Steelers as the 16th best scoring offense last year with Fields & Russ.

  7. This is the year that, barring injuries, he has to prove in the playoffs though, and I’m not asking for much, I’d take a single victory. I’m a big Tomlin defender and have said that with the offenses he’s been given the last 5ish years that no coach was winning a playoff game with. However, he’s got a decent-good offense and a top 2 defense in the league, so this is the year where no excuses happen (again barring any serious injuries)

  8. I’ve been a huge Tomlin defender for many years – and it been a great start to the season – but it’s hard to deny the trend of getting blown out the first half of playoffs games. It just keeps happening….

Now with Rodgers there’s no excuse. I can’t defend him if it happens again.

  9. It was all mind tricks. He was sharpening his skills with the worst possible qbs, so it could be a breeze when we got a decent one . Jedi shit

  10. If Tomlin surrounded himself with better assistant coaches he would no doubt be regarded as the best coach in the NFL. There is no coach that is a better leader of men. He can even coach the head cases to their full potential for a limited time

  11. We’ve been outscored like 70-0 in our last 4 playoff games in the 1st quarter.

It has been 3219 days since the Steelers last won a playoff game.

  12. He’s not perfect but it’s genuinely embarrassing how loud the haters are during those seasons, and how quiet they are when you see what those guys should have been doing

  13. Aaaaaand now this sub is Tomlin lovers. My god, Steelers fans are annoying lol they LOVE to blame Tomlin for EVERYTHING….but we start over performing…”errmahhgurd Tomlin really good!”

  14. I love Tomlin and everything he’s done for the Steelers. He needs to avoid a late season collapse and win some playoff games to justify having his job as the coach of one of the premier franchises in the league.

To be clear I don’t think he’s a terrible coach like the haters. Just hasn’t been good enough in the last decade

  15. He has an opportunity to silence the critics this year with a playoff win (which I am a believer), but if we lose again this year I can’t wait to see the defenders come out with their simultaneous argument of “he gets the most out of his players and is a mastermind that can compete with anyone” and “he has the most washed team in NFL history, of course we can’t be competitive”

  16. Fields doesn’t deserve the hate. He played very well for Pittsburgh and worked his ass off to do so in a very adverse situation. The Jets are a dumpster fire.

  17. He has an extremely high floor. Unfortunately, his celing is also not as high as it should to win it all.

  18. Cautiously optimistic, they’re getting better in the trenches which is where you control the game. Fingers crossed they stay healthy.

  19. I love tomlin but two things can be true.

    1. He exceeds expectations despite bad teams/coordinators
    2. The bad teams/coordinators are also his fault

He is a great coach for elevating teams and winning games. He has been less than stellar at picking coaching staff and building teams.

  20. He’s obviously a good coach, his record speaks for itself and his biggest talent is having a knack for making chicken salad out of chicken shit. However for all that he is full of faults too and we as a franchise and fans have just become okay with being slightly above mid. No playoff wins in nearly a decade and boatraced in just about every playoff game since, that’s not a good sign either no matter how much you want to use his regular season record as cope. They guy literally hasn’t won anything of significance in the postseason since the 2010 season. That was 15 years ago man.
