Davion Mitchell, Pelle Larsson, Erik Spoelstra | Postgame Interviews | October 12, 2025
just your assessment of getting out there finally getting able to run up and down the floor with somebody that’s not wearing the same jersey as you. Yeah. No, I mean I was just happy to be out there honestly. Um try to get that first win. Um I mean kind of like I said before just excited to be out there. This is a year mentioned to me pregame that the six preseason games are needed and so I imagine for you happening tonight and then two more games critical just to be in the right position for 10 days from now. Yeah, for sure. I mean, especially because preseason is kind of get your rhythm. Um, especially with our new offense, kind of learn how to play the new offense. But for me, it’s just kind of just trying to find my rhythm. Um, but I’ll figure that out in the next couple days. Was it your decision not to play the second half? Is that in conjunction with the trainers? Were you surprised by that or was that a plan all along? Um, I mean, I ain’t really know until we got back, but um, I mean, probably due to we play uh, back to back. So, they want me to they want to see me in the floor tomorrow a little bit more. So, if we didn’t have a back toback, I probably play more. You spoke last week about how it’s a different system, a different approach. How different did it feel being on the floor with this approach that you’re trying to do with a quicker pace? I mean, it didn’t feel I wouldn’t say it didn’t feel that much difference. Um, I think Orlando kind of took us out of offense a little bit by denying us. Um, so we just kind of got used to that playing off one another, back cutting, things like that, but it’s things we learned. That’s what the preseason is for. First of all, how was it to be out there in the first five and and really try to set a tone even though it’s a different group and different timing? No, I feel it always feels good just to be out there run, especially being out for a while. Just feels good to run around with my legs a little bit. Dave, I mentioned that the Orlando defense kind of got you guys out of sorts a little bit. What’s the right answer? People are trying to deny you. What are the right responses, particularly on the offensive end? No, I think we gave that denial too much respect. I don’t really think there was that much of a denial if uh if you’re just moving with a purpose. So, we kind of expected it to be uh tougher to move the ball and then that just kind of made us more hesitant. So, coach said he always appreciates the aggression, but it’s sort of the same as last year a little bit with the fouls and obviously very physical game today. You had four by like the midpoint of the second period. How do you balance that? Wanting to stay your aggressive self, but also being able to stay on the court. Yeah, I mean two of those really only two of those four were like in the play uh when we were playing. The other two were one I I touched the guy on the forehead and when he already had let the ball go and the other one uh on the baseline out of bounds. So, uh I don’t read too much into that uh right now. I think I’ve gotten a lot better. So, uh you know, just keep getting used to uh playing again. How do you think you’ve gotten better doing that? How do how do you balance that because your aggression is so important to your game. So, how do you sort of do that? Uh just taking a step back like you can be aggressive but you’re not in there all the time. Like you got to get give space at time and and know when it’s going to hurt the team to be too aggressive and then just get your hands out of there as much as possible. Thoughts on what happened to Cass and where he might stand for the rest of the preseason? Yeah, I’m not sure. You know, we’ll find out. Um yeah, he just goes so hard uh that um you know things can happen but it’s too early to tell you know right now. Is it disappointing just that he missed the first two the end of camp came back strong seemed to have momentum and then yeah let’s see let’s see what it is you know we don’t even really know uh at this point um but that’s that’s the NBA having Davy on back in the mix how good did that feel and what can you see even in this brief state well you definitely feel his presence defensively you know his point of attack defense is elite uh and he’s you know what he really provided for us uh last here was um that that attacking uh paint touching uh nature. He’s really aggressive and he makes a lot of good plays when he gets into the paint. Um you know, all of that fits with with what we’re trying to do. And is the thought that even just playing in just the first half today that by a week or 10 days from now he will be up that that’s it. like um you know he wanted to play more but this was uh part of the plan and um hopefully if everything goes well he can play a few minutes tomorrow night too. What was the um sort of the approach with sitting most of the starters as well as Drew and Simone tonight? We had a a really tough practice yesterday and um I was prioritizing that uh and I knew I’d play them you know one of the games so figured they’d just get some uh individual work today and and I’ll be ready for them all. Pa, one of the best things he does is his aggression, but we saw the foul trouble again. Four very early fouls. Is that a concern or just go as hard as you can for as long as you can and deal with the whistles? That that’s part of, you know, learning the nuances of um how to defend. Uh use your aggressiveness, which is a strength of his. Um but you know, limiting and knowing when it’s too much. Um I think with more time, you know, he’ll he’ll get better with that. The other day you mentioned Kell’s plus minus. So, what was should we read into his performance tonight? I I’m encouraged by it. Look, uh it’s everybody has so much attention, you know, on on him and what I’m going to say about him. Uh he’s getting better. Uh you can see the talent. You know, there are points in the game, you know, where there’s swing points where it might be the play to make or the decision to make that’s not quite there. Uh but uh I would much rather coach somebody who’s willing to be coached, who can put up 24 and 10 uh and figure out how to get those winning moments during the course of a game. And that that’s where we are. But he did some, you know, impressive things. I love the way he was uh on the offensive glass. Um and we’ll just continue to work with him. coach NBA preseason, the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat. What’s your takeaway from a game like this? I mean, it’s always going to be physical um and hotly contested, you know, between the two franchises and and the way our current teams compete. Uh it’s going to be uh extremely physical. They won the battle tonight and in Puerto Rico uh just on the glass, the 50/50, the skirmishes in the paint. Um, and we’ll have to we’ll have to own that, you know, as we prepare for for the opening night. Coach, when key players uh don’t play and young guys get an opportunity to showcase and get more minutes, just talk about those opportunities for guys and some some of those gentlemen played tonight uh on both sides. Uh but we have uh a history of guys that didn’t play early on in the preseason uh all the way to the last game and then made an impression on us uh and then made a career with us. But uh you know we’ll have to just continue to to forge ahead and uh and see if we can create a few more of those moments. All right. Thank you.

Spo just donโt like Kelโel lol but praise Bam like we winning 50 plus games as our so called best player
Davion look mad disappointed. Canโt even blame him literally Ware was the only one showed up. Not even Bam, Wiggins, Norman was available to help. I do not care if they have a back to back. We got people like Davion who takes each game seriously ๐
Spo immediately gets defensive when asked about ware lmao
If Ware kept playing tonight, he would've had about 30 and 15.
spo hates wares decisions lmao
Too many spo haters ๐๐๐๐ itโs only preseason yet they already start barking ๐๐๐
Why was Jovic not playing?
Itโs the preseason, what matters is the official , regular season. Itโs not the true gauge of the teamโs 2025-2026 Season. Cheer Up! Heat Nation!!!
