IT’S NOT LOOKING GOOD FOR ELIAS PETTERSSON & THE VANCOUVER CANUCKS…

[Music] Okay, so there’s a reason I’m making this video now and not moments after the Vancouver Conucks game from last night. I think y’all recognize that I pre-record the three videos of the morning, the night before they’re actually uploaded. This is so I can get my beauty sleep and to stay up late all night watching movies. Okay, no, we’re not going to talk about that. But there’s a reason I wanted to make this specific Conucks related video the afternoon after Vancouver’s loss at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers because I think this topic deserved a good night’s sleep before actually diving into it. Today I wanted to talk about Kuck superstar Elas Person who is still getting paid $11.6 million a season. he’ll be making that amount of money till 2031 2032 and who so far this year has one point in two games played. That’s not like the end of the world. It’s been two games. points will come hopefully. But yesterday’s game was quite intriguing in that a lot of the conversation postgame was focused around that Elias Patterson and what he did or didn’t do out there on the ice. Whether or not Elias Person has bounced back. Spoiler alert, a lot of Kucks fans were complaining yesterday that he hadn’t and that the Person from last season that was not good, not productive, not an 11.6 caliber player was back. Here’s a tweet from Satiar Shaw from yesterday’s third period. There’s so little patience with Elias Patterson on this website, Twitter, and our 650 text inbox. It would do wonders for everyone’s mental health if Person would impact the game offensively here in the third. LOL. And there are so many replies. Hey, Person has been MIA for 21 months. How much more patient can people be? Well, Sat, we’ve been waiting on this guy ever since he signed his fat contract. Going on 2 years now. Define little patience. He got our best forward traded and has quite quit on this team for close to two years. We’re out of patience. This will anchor the Canucks for years. The assessment on Person has been a disaster. The writing has been on the wall for a time and management doubled down and this is a bust. Not a great start, Sat says praying he somehow turns it around because the way he’s playing a trade won’t be easy either. and a bunch of other social media platforms. The Kucks postgame thread on the subreddit. It was filled with Elias Patterson conversation mostly negative. And I can’t say I don’t relate to where it’s all coming from. Elias Person in the two games he has had so far this season, one point, as we had said, he’s on pace for half a point a game throughout the course of the year, which of course that’s probably not going to happen. He’ll probably produce more than that. probably. But in the most recent game, he had 16 minutes and 38 seconds time on ice. In the 5:1 win over Calgary, he had 1539. Now, you can say that Vancouver won against Calgary and it was a pretty convincing win, 5 to1. So, that obviously puts things in a better perspective like, oh yeah, he got a point and the Conucks won 5 to1. We can’t complain. But this previous game against Edmonton has gotten everybody off the rails and for good reason too. Elias Person is the most expensive player on the team and he should be able to provide play that justifies that dollar amount. When you see a game early on in the season like you saw yesterday where Vancouver just got totally outmatched, they were not good. The only reason it was close is because Thatcher Demco exists. This is where you start to wonder where Elas Person’s game really is at and whether or not he is capable of fulfilling that role. You can ask whether or not the coaching staff believes that he’s able to do it too. Take a look at this. Elias Person was the sixth overall forward in terms of ice time last night. Jake De Brusk, Philip Pedal, Connor Garland, Besser, and Evander Kane all had more minutes than Pey. Now, if Ander Kane is in his entire Owen conversation, there’s a bubble that exists to talk about him and his deployment. But Elias Person is a guy that should be played more if he is an 11.6 million player. But then again, you have to ask, was he given fewer minutes because the coach just doesn’t like him, or was he given fewer minutes because he deserved it? I think common consensus from last night’s game is that Elias Person was a perimeter guy, that he didn’t do too much to actually move the needle, that his defensive play was all right, but you get this guy at 11.6 because you want him to score 100 points a year. This is not the time for Elias Person to still be trying to work it out in two games. Not a great sample size in the slightest, but there is room for pessimism here. On Friday’s Kuck Central show with Satier, Shawn, and Dan Reichio, they had themselves Yanick Hansen on as a guest and Hansen was asked by Shaw, “What do you think is like the timeline for IAS Patterson? How long do you think we have to wait before we get ourselves an evaluation as to how he’s playing this year?” Because, of course, one game, two games, that’s not a sample you could really build off of. And Yanni Hansen said something interesting. He was like, “Yeah, no. I don’t want to wait 20 games for Elias Person to become good. I don’t want to wait 20 or something games for him to be able to show what he is. He’s an 11.6 million player. He was signed to be that. He has shown it in the past. He needs to produce. That’s it. Plain and simple. And with the Vancouver Conucks in this season, yes, he had a point in the first game. Looked pretty all right in that one. Game yesterday though, didn’t really look all too effective. didn’t get any points. There’s a reason why fans are going out there and cautiously backing away from the excitement that is Elias Person’s game in 2526. I mean, it’s been two games, so obviously no conclusions are to be made, but I’m not going to say that the fan base is not worried, you know? And I guess this is what happens when you watch a game that was so lackluster like yesterday’s. Brock Besser scored the only goal and he also had another chance to get on the score sheet a second time, but he totally missed the net or I think Conor McDavid got a stick on it or something. Wide open chance in front. Vancouver wasn’t really able to negotiate anything with Calvin Picker. They just kind of tossed pucks towards the goal and they were stopped. And even then, so they didn’t have that many shots. So after a game like yesterday’s, I think it’s easy to see the fans and folks in the fan base start to panic and choose sides as to whom it is they think is good and whom it is they want to see get less ice time and whom it is they want to see get criticized. And I’ll admit, you know, I said this video is going to be an Elias Patterson video. I don’t think I ripped into him too hard like others have in various parts of the internet. But if you wanted to do that, hey, the comment section is your floor. If you enjoyed this video, feel free to hit the like button. If you didn’t, the dislike button’s down there for you, too. But if you’ve got any extra thoughts about Elias Patterson from last night’s game, his deployment, the fact that there were five other forwards that played more minutes than him, what are your thoughts on how he was able to move with without the puck? What are your thoughts on how this guy created offense or at least how he tried to create offense? What are the expectations for him heading into Monday’s game against St. Louis? And are you optimistic about it? If you had to make a prediction right now, how many points does Elias Person finished the 2526 season off with? What’s your number? Do you think he ends up overtaking his 45 points from last year or are we chocked, folks? comments help out with the algorithm, so I’d appreciate it if you got involved there. But I hope you enjoyed this video and bye. [Music] [Music]

  1. If he isn’t playing hurt , we’re looking for a 1C , not just a 2C . He can’t go 3 for 16 in faceoffs and 11-1 in scoring chances while on ice .Poor coach Adam Foote , he is going to have to shelter Petterssen and motivate him at the same time , if the coaches can’t figure it out , what next .

  2. Whats he make here…$140,000 per game? Canucks app had EP40 highlighted for Players to watch. Watch closely, because if you dont, you wont remember seeing him at all.

  3. bro wait till we are atleast 10 games into the season and if he still isnt playing well, then ur allowed to criticize him but 2 games its still too early to talk about him

  4. You can,t go say how good he is after the first game then dump on him after the second. The entire forward core was lacking that game he was one of the better ones defensively. Its two games my guys get it together he was bad one game

  5. I'm a newer Canucks (hockey) fan, and almost never seen EP40 is worth for 11.6M. And very much impressed how the team and some of fans including my frineds are super nice and patient about him.

  6. The problem is I blame Connor Garland. Because every time that Dude is on the ice hes noticeable. Pettersson is barely visible on some shifts, so if theres no production its glaring

  7. It's management's fault for paying him that much based on one season, guys hello, base their salary off consistency. This is why the Canucks are going nowhere.

  8. Seriously? Its been 2 games. The first game he was hard matched. And the secind game, even Quinn wasn't great on the offensive side of the puck. Can we relax please? This team is just not clicking on offense yet, but the positive is that they are playing as a team.

P.S. It wasn't Petey who got JT traded. If you think that this , mgmt didn't ask Quinn for his thoughts on who should go then I don't know what to tell you. Quinn voted for Petey.

  9. Lets wait to see after 5-8 games. I think that is a solid sample size (10% of the regular season). That said, he certainly has not stood out at all in the 2 games he has played.

  10. EP40 is going through alot in their life. They have a new husband and Palestine is still not free. They have a lot on their mind and hockey isn’t important to them.

  11. Peddy reminds me of the time Danial Sedin was out for a couple of months with a broken leg and Henrik was lost for the a couple of games then he ripped it up.

  12. Demko was great, the PK was solid, there was some truculence shown, but the skaters couldn't make a pass to save their lives. I don't know why they could make a simple clean pass, but it's hard to get a lot of shots if everyone is reaching for pucks or every pass turns into a puck battle. In a few more games we'll have a sample size of Petey to gauge where our level of disappointment should be.

  13. He was slow before and he "bulked up " lol, so now he looks like hes wearing cement shoes out there. Just a wet noodle of a hockey player. Dude is a Cancer.

  14. Canucks 2023/24 FO% 9th.
    Canucks 2024/25 FO% 22nd.
    Canucks so far 2025/26 FO% 27th.
Fairly obvious how important Miller was to the team. Elias at this point doesn't even look like a center, let lone a top-line one, as he cannot win draws. Last night 3 faceoff wins, 15 losses. So his revenge season might be put on hold until he figures that out. If his line can't get faceoff possession, then he might as well get different wingers, probably some grinders to dig the puck for him so he doesn't have to be the guy to do it and get hurt (again), because then your best sniper isn't being wasted. (This is why Boeser played with Miller.)
It's quite flabbergasting the the Canucks locked him up to that deal and then dumped Miller while knowing all this. Oh but don't worry, if people blame Tocchet enough, perhaps fans'll buy that excuse. Petey also might just score on the power play or something tomorrow and all will be right in the world.

  15. he added 13 lbs over the summer as if that means something. ill take 170 lb rookie pettersson over whatever the hell this guys is. Canucks are in deep trouble and i fear were going to lose quinn

  16. 2 games i and people are already beating him up. He got a goal in game 1. He got his weight up to 190 soease up already. If I was an NHL player I would not play here in this fickle town. too many vultures
