The new Zach Wilson

  1. They both honestly have the same problem. They are just slow to process what is happening in front of them, and the NFL game just moves way too fast for them.

We need to look at QBs that have quick releases and have demonstrated intelligence under pressure.

  2. I genuinely drank the Koolaid about Fields.

After spending too much money to get into Tottenham, only to watch him take 9 sacks, I’m no longer feeling that way.

  3. Was Zach bad? Yes but at least he made things interesting with insane throws every now and again haha

  4. Michael Clemons outscored Fields today. Fields is Zach with a spoiler and flame sticker decals

  5. Wilson vs. Fields is like being shot vs. stabbed.

Wilson had higher highs where you had tantalizing flashes of just how special his arm talent was, and even in bad games could fire off the random laser that would have you going, “wow.” But then Wilson had the same issues Fields has holding onto the ball too long and taking unnecessary sacks, plus he threw some of the worst interceptions I’ve ever had the misfortune of seeing.

Fields doesn’t throw interceptions, but that’s because he doesn’t *do* anything. He can’t fire off quick short throws, he’s inaccurate on deep shots, he misreads the defense. The only semi-consistent good thing he does is run, but the more it becomes clear he can’t or won’t throw the ball, the less valuable that becomes.

One last point in favor of Zach, though. The guy won four games his rookie year behind an awful offensive line, throwing to Corey Davis, Jamison Crowder, and Keelan Cole. Fields is putting up worse numbers and he has Garrett Wilson, Mason Taylor, and Breece Hall.

  6. Meh. Jets knew what they were getting with Fields. Slow to process. Holds onto the ball too long when he’s in the pocket and doesn’t have great pocket awareness. Guy is a great athlete . Pittsburgh tried to make him a pocket passer. Not his strength. It failed. The Jets have a first year coordinator and ( I guess ) thought that they could develop him. I think Glenn was trying to say it was 1 bad game at his press conference but this is who he is. The Jets have not been able to develop a quarterback since forever. Why they thought that they could do it with Fields ( I think ) is arrogance. Being confident is one thing but the way that Glenn handled the Rodger’s situation was arrogance. Hope that I’m wrong.

  7. Remember way back when, when we were arguing who to draft???

    Turns out EVERYONE was wrong

  8. The hard thing to believe is that we’re right back into the depths of “Zach can’t run an offense” level play.

We dumped Wilson, got Rodgers, dumped Rodgers, signed Fields…nothing got better. Just a treadmill of awful that we can’t get off of. Rodgers had a few decent games, but we are absolutely back to square one right now.

Tyrod Taylor, Joe Flacco…literally any halfway decent veteran QB wins that game today. And we can’t even get that.

  9. Zach would have begged for the amount of time Fields get in the pocket.

Zach had no OL, he was immediately under pressure every snap. Fields holds the ball forever.

  10. Crazy to say if olu played like he did last week we are probably competitive in it with Zach.

Zach issue was he is probably not even 7th round pick quality under pressure. When not pressured he was…eh.

  11. At least we can put the we should have drafted Fields over Zach Wilson debate to bed.

On to better things, like drafting Mendoza.
