3 STRAIGHT WINS! Patriots vs. Saints Instant Reaction After BIG Win In NFL Week 6

[Music] The Patriots are 4 and2 and their best start to the NFL season since 2019. It was a tough win. It was a hard win, a hardfought win to say the least, but they grinded it out and they pulled out the W. And I think that we’re going to get into it in a second, but uh Drake May, you are unbelievable. Welcome in to Patriots Today by Chat Sports. I am your host Brett Alper. 25-19 victory and I was sweating and I mean sweating my ass off watching that game because the Patriots they had the opportunity to shut it out after a turnover after getting the ball back after a punt and then they would go three and out and then they give the ball back to Spencer Radler and then they get the ball back. It was very stressful but that’s a game that’s a football game for us but overall I mean the Patriots offense I can’t complain about it. Drake May had an amazing game two 18 for 26 261 yards and we’ll get him into him in a second. But the defense the defense looked suspect today over and over and over and there was at one point where I had no idea what was going on at the end of the half where the CBS broadcast was over saying, “Oh, they’re down at the one.” one of the worst officiated games I’ve probably ever watched in football. I mean, we could talk about the penalties. Two offensive pass interference calls that they never call, but overall just a great game. And the Patriots are four and two, and it looks like they could be legit contenders in the AFC. Couple takeaways for you guys. And I mean, let’s just start off with the biggest one of them all. And I I mean, Drake May, every single week, it just looks like he’s just getting better and better and better and better. And I called him. I said, “All right.” When the season started, I said, “He’s probably going to be, I don’t know, a top 15 quarterback in this league. He’s getting better. It’s going to take him some time.” But oh my goodness, man, was he incredible today. And this is literally the fourth game in a row. 18 for 26. Like I’ll do the math here for us. 18 divided by 26. That is almost a 70 completion percentage. Breaks the streak. But 18 for 26. 260 yards. Another game with 250 plus yards. three touchdowns, zero interceptions since I think his last interception was that play against the Steelers. He has been perfect and a QB rating of 140. Every single day, Drake May keeps the play alive on that last play of the ball game. That was 2 minutes and 30 seconds left in the game. Third down, he drops back, finds a man, Kahan Booty, on a perfect back shoulder throw. Third down, he finds his man wide open. Third down, he f He is cool, calm, and collective. And when the co when the pocket collapses, he’s able to step up. He is perfect pocket presence. He can find he can roll out right and find his man wide open every single down, every single play, every single week, every single game. He impresses me more than more. And at this point in the NFL season, you have to call him top five in this league. I’m not saying that he’s an overall top five quarterback, but in the 2025 NFL season, Aton Jones is a top five quarterback in this league. So could Drake May. So could Drake May. He’s unbelievable. And he impresses me every single time. And I love that he is the quarterback of the New England Patriots. So you let me know down in the comments section. Is Drake May a top five QB in this league? Give me a Y for yes or give me an N for no. Second takeaway with how good Drake May is, the run game is awful. It’s bad. Like, it isn’t, oh, this is okay. It’s really, really, really bad. And there was multiple times, and we know with the Josh McDaniels type offense when you have the game in motion and you have the opportunity to cement yourself. Patriots were trying to run clock. They were trying to get the clock down, trying to run out the clock. First and 10. Hand the ball off to Arandre Stevenson. No yard gain. Nothing. Look at these stats, guys. 13 carries for 18 yards. 1.4 yards per carry. That’s bad. Bad. And then you’re like, “All right, well, Ramandre, that might be just Ramandre.” No, because you bring in Trayvon Henderson and guess what? He was just as bad, too, running the ball. Nine carries, 27 yards, three yards per carry. It’s not a knock on the running backs. It’s not their fault. Every single time the Patriots ran the ball, you would see the Saints off defensive line get right through the line of scrimmage and tackle them behind the line. You had no able way to get through the hole and get yardage. It has to be better because you’re going to get down the season where teams are going to start reading, “Hey, Drake May’s an amazing quarterback. We’re gonna try to stop the run and uh or stop the pass.” And then you’re gonna have to rely on the run game. And if the run game’s not there, there’s a problem. Patriots run game has to be better. It’s got to get better if they want to be a true contender in this league. If you want to play, if you want to make make the NFL put the NFL on notice, you got to get better at the run game. Have to have to. But it was an amazing amazing watch party, an amazing game. And we’ve given you this the second I could get it out for you guys, an instant reaction video. Third takeaway, and this is the best player that’s on defense right now. I love you, Gonzo, and you are an amazing quarterback. They don’t target you. They just don’t go after you. But Marcus Jones is unfreakingbelievable. He is only your nickel quarterback and he is 5 foot8. And I mean, every single week he’s just making plays. There was the one play specifically, it was on third down where you thought it was a fumble, but it was a pass breakup. And Chris goes up and catches it. The highest point. Chris Ave is 6 foot. Marcus Jones is no joke 5’8. Has the pass breakup. He is awesome. There was, look at that. Three pass breakups for Marcus Jones. you need to extend and have him sign the contract extension over and over and over and over again. He also had his first career sack in this game. Able to blitz blitz the quarterback, blitz Spencer Radler. Every week he’s getting better and better and better and he’s only 5 foot8. He’s awesome. Now Carlton Davis, you played a terrible game. Played terrible game and it feels like every single week you get hurt. I want you to play better. Chris cooked you. cooked you. There’s a reason we saw in the in in the preseason that he was named, Demarcus Jones was named a captain. You could see it right there with his play. He’s awesome. Awesome. Going to get to the takeaways in just a second. But I got to tell you guys about this deal that’s going on. Patriots 60% off and the sizes. They’re going, ladies and gentlemen, you could I don’t know how long this deal is going to last, but if you want to get yours today, 60% off. It’s Patriot City for $30. It’s almost 60. It was originally $60. Originally $60, but you can get yours today chatsports.com/patriotsie right now. We’ll have that in the comments and description of today’s video. My next takeaway, and this is negative, man. Penalties have to go. You almost cost yourself the game in this one with the amount of penalties you had. Let’s start 11 for 65. And I’ll talk about it again and again and again and again and again. They’re not bad penalties like those long pass interference calls. They’re those little tickytack that just shouldn’t happen. It was third down and seven. Rick May over the crossing route to M. Holland. First down. Oh, illegal illegal motion on Raandre Stevenson for not getting set. All right, let’s go back. Third and 12 now. Next thing you know. All right, third down and 12. Drake May, an amazing throw to Stfan Diggs. Amazing throw to Stfane Diggs. First down. Nope. Pass interference. We’re bringing it back. We’re bringing it back. Then the next play, Morgan Moses false start. Bringing back even more. You have to stop with those penalties. I’m not going to talk about the Marcus the uh Pop Douglas touchdown that got called back for 61 yards because that’s the biggest I’ve ever seen from the refs. That was not an offensive pass interference. that is not in any way, shape, or form. Shout out to the Patriots for being composed and still scoring a touchdown on that drive to Kahan Booty. So, I’m not going to talk about that at all. But that drive specifically, you have to play better. You have to lower these penalties because games like that, you beat bad teams. When you play a good team, if you have penalties like that, it’s it’s going to be bad. It’s going to be bad. My last takeaway, I I might be crazy. I don’t know if people are going to agree with me, disagree with me. The Patriots are going to be a legit contender in the AFC. The AFC is wide open. Wide open. We want to talk about the Bills. Patriots beat the Bills. You want to talk about the Broncos? Well, is they they were leading the division. The Chargers barely beat the Dolphins today. It’s close, close, close, close, close, close. And then you all talk about the Chiefs. Well, they’re bad. This AFC is wide open. And when you look at the Patriots next schedule, you beat the Saints today. Next week, you go up against the Titans. Then the week after you go up against the Browns, that’s two wins right there. If you don’t play stupid, Falcons is a tossup. I don’t know what this Falcons team is. I truly don’t. Then you go against the Bucks. The Bucks are probably the best team you’re going to face. That is the only like dub or loss where I’m looking at it like, “Yeah, this is gonna be a tough one. It’s gonna be a very tough one.” The Jets are a joke. They’re 0 and6. The Bengals don’t have a quarterback. They have Joe Flacco out there. And the Giants, we’ll see if Jackson Dart and Cam Scataboo can make it to week 13. You can go seven and one in that span. And then you face the Bills, the Ravens, they’re a joke. They’re going to get they’re going to get Lamar back. He’ll be playing in that game, so we’ll see. But then you go against the Jets and the Dolphins, you have an opportunity to get 11 wins just like that. And I’m looking at the AFC right now. The Steelers are currently in the lead at four or currently at 4- one. The Colts are 5- one. The Bills are 4-1. If they lose, if they lose on Monday night, yeah, what? Chargers 4-2. They barely beat the Dolphins, the Jaguars, the Broncos, and then the Patriots at seven. there. It’s a perfect opportunity for the Pats with this wide openen AFC. You could be a legit contender in the AFC right now, guys. The Chiefs are two and three. And I this, as this video is recorded, I haven’t seen them play the Lions yet on Sunday Night Football. They could be two and four and you’re four and two. You could easily easily make a run in the playoffs to make a Super Bowl. Easily. Got to take advantage of this week’s game. I’ll ask you guys before we get on out of here. Patriots are a top what team in the NFL? Mainly worry about the AFC, but you let me know because they were, I don’t know, about 13th, 14th in the power rankings. I think they’re going to go to top 10. This defense is great. Drake May is amazing. Drake May is awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. Stressful game. You come out with a W. You go to four and two and next week you play Mike Frabel’s former team, former team that he had coached with for years. Brought him to an AFC championship game. Brought him the one seat. He’s going to want to kick their throats in and it’s going to be another trap game for the Patriots. This game was a trap game. You overcame that and won the football game. You overcame it and won the football game. You got to keep doing it over and over and over and over again. Four and two. long long long way to go, but we’re going to be there for you. We’re going to be live for every single game. So, make sure you hit that sub button. And as always, let’s go pass. [Music]

  1. Those offensive PI’s were some of the softest calls I’ve ever seen. Should’ve been a 15+ point win. This game was a more dominant win than the scoreboard indicated

  2. Davis #7 has been terrible so far. Getting Gonzalez back really saved us. Hope he stays healthy so we don't need to rely on Davis to be the #1 CB.

  3. Knew we had it in the bag when we won that challenge. But I was still sweating. Maye is the freaking man. He’s top 5 for sure. Our run game is so awful and Maye is just automatic.

  4. Nice win, but Drake Maye being our top rusher with 28 yards isn't good. We're lucky we were playing the saints, because most other teams would win that game. I think they can be a contender but not with that running game

  5. The running game not working because there is no shifting of the line moving defender out of their lane they need to design some motion for the offensive line

  6. It doesn’t help the running game when McDaniels call a run straight up the gut on at least five consecutive first downs.

Henderson wasn’t good, but he got more than twice as many yards per attempt than Stevenson.

To be fair, Stevenson didn’t cough up the ball, which makes this game practically a career high for him.

  7. 12:32 Anomalous. I’ve never seen a team play this simultaneously play excellent and terrible before. That back and forth special teams sequence against Miami feels like a microcosm of what this years been like. Crazy costly errors that we then make up for and end up winning. Today it was great qb play and atrocious running game. Others it was Stevenson being both a touchdown and fumble machine. All I can say is this team is fun but also crazy and confusing, at times, to watch 😂

  8. Now that the Panthers have Rico Dowdle, what would you trade to the Panthers for Chuba Hubbard? Hubbard’s contract is high for a RB, though lol.
