This Pistons Team Could Be A PROBLEM
The Pistons are in an amazing spot because after winning 44 games for the first time in 10 years and bringing an identity of tenacious defense back to the city of Detroit, they made a few moves over the summer to address their biggest weaknesses and add even more depth. One issue they consistently ran into last year was a lack of secondary shot creation next to Cade, especially after Jaden Ivy’s season ending injury. Not only are they getting Ivy back at full health, they added Caris Levert, an incredibly skilled ball handler who can pressure defenses and make a wide variety of passes without turning it over, which sounds like exactly what you’d want both next to Cade and as a leader of the bench unit. They also added Duncan Robinson, a highle movement shooter who can make quick decisions off the catch, which not only improves the spacing and the motion, it potentially unlocks Jaylen Duran in the twoman game, as well as potential internal development for young guys like Ron Holland, Assar Thompson, or even Cade himself. They’ve got the pieces on both sides of the ball.

The Detroit Pistons made some moves over the offseason to address their biggest weaknesses, add more depth, and build on an already bright future. But do they have enough to compete in the East?

Still wish they could sign Malik Beasley
Anything can happy Indy just proved that and the east is wide open I think we make a run as a pistons fan idk about championship level run but I think we make it atlest to the 2nd round this season
Pistons are going to shock alot of people i think with there roster they could win about 50 games
As a Knicks fan that was the most exciting playoffs series ive seen in a while
My thoughts on the rotation players as a Pistons lifer:
Cade: target should be a couple MVP votes, second team all-NBA, but he's the most known value on the team really. Cutting down on turnovers and improving his off-ball defence could be areas of improvement
Jaden Ivey: assuming the injury didn't leave lasting significant damage, even "just" producing at last year's level would likely be enough. When Cade and JI shared the court they were statistically insane both offensively and defensively, I can't see why that wouldn't still be the case and I could even see Ivey take a serious leap if his off-ball production and on-ball playmaking can improve
Ausar: if healthy, easy DPOY candidate. Offensively there's work to be done but he's creative, seems to be improving as a shooter and is also pretty good rolling to the basket
Tobias: Philly really was the problem, eh? He's a solid starter and didn't disappear in the playoffs, quite the opposite in fact
Jalen Duren: insane rebounder and rollman (and an above average short roll passer), but extremely limited offensively otherwise, and while his rim protection has improved he's still pretty much unswitchable because he has lead feet. Areas of improvement could be ball handling (if he were able to be a secondary ball handler, even on occasion, his role on offence would be much much better), rim protection and defensive reads
Duncan Robinson: at best, he fills the Malik Beasley role and could be a 6MOTY candidate. At worst, he's the next "don't sign Heat rotation players" guy, and since his contract is only partially guaranteed for 27 and 28 it wouldn't be a tragedy
Caris LeVert: he'll be a worse but more experienced Jaden Ivey. If he can be even a passable system playmaker (he won't ever be creative when it comes to getting rid of the ball, but JB's structured offence could help with that) he'll be in a fantastic role coming off the bench and in three guard lineups with Cade and Ivey (budget Vinnie Johnson lol)
Isaiah Stewart: legitimately one of the best defensive bigs in the league, he's extremely undersized and limited on offence so you probably only want him as a tool (pun maybe intended) coming off the bench. Still, a great piece to have for cheap. I can't see significant improvement beyond where he already is, but I'm also fine with that
Ron Holland: I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the season or the next season it was him running the bench unit and not LeVert. He's a very underrated passer, his ball handling has tightened already, and if he can be even a middling threat to shoot the ball he'll be a demon on both ends of the floor. Areas of improvement are definitely his shooting, but I'm optimistic, he moves well on the perimeter and his form is fine (not to mention Fred Vinson is the best shot doctor in the league)
As a Hawks fan we brought in Caris last year because we had nobody outside of Trae who could create, he filled that role really well and I wanted him back but we didn’t have a lot of money, so that’s a great pickup for them
As a Heat fan, tenacious defense and Duncan Robinson do not go hand and hand 💀 offensively though he’s gonna be great
22 years, 2 chips, lesgo (jk but i hope it happens)
