FYI, the mods deleted [the previous post about this](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cardinals/comments/1o5nxsi/removed_by_moderator/) due to it not being directly about the Cardinals. (Not sure why they’d delete stuff about Mike Shildt retiring but leave up the post about Seunghwan Oh retiring, but 🤷.) In any event, your post will probably get deleted or whatever.
I don’t think parting with him was the wrong move but glad he’s getting to leave the mlb on his own terms.
I was glad when the Cardinals fired him. But wow I never expected this.
Best of luck in retirement, Shildt. You were a fantastic coach for decades
You mean Mike Shildt

Anyone gonna dust off the “nice.” GIF of him from the promotional commercial?
Good luck out there, Mike, and thanks for that win streak!
That’s too bad. I will always remember him for that dramatic, end of season winning streak that took the Cardinals into the playoffs.
Not to pile on the guy- I think he was a decent manager and had some success with the cardinals. But I have been wondering a lot about how much of a hand he had in Arozarena being moved vs. O’Neill. Mo’s comments a few weeks ago about that being the choice and that his IG live of the locker room didn’t help things has made me revisit that and consider Shildt having a stronger role in moving on from him. I feel like the manager would be way more pissed about a guy doing that than the POBO would be. I really don’t blame Shildt for being pissed. I just think it’s always on Mo for trading him (ultimately he was the one who made the move) and it doesn’t really get talked about that it’s entirely possible and even very likely Shildt pushed for O’Neill over Randy with the video thing being a factor.
Hopefully this cuts down on the number of times I have to see someone saying Shildt is the best manager they’ve ever seen while simultaneously being incapable of spelling his name correctly.

Padres’ Mike Shildt shockingly retires after MLB playoff trips https://share.google/itEAL0MTZhRZJJM4X
I liked the job shildty did in the Lou…reading about the rumors in SD certainly lend credibility to what Mo said recently…..
