NBA LIVE! Los Angeles Lakers vs Golden State Warriors LIVE | NBA PRESEASON | Oct. 13, 2025 | 2K26
On 2K Sports, this is Brian Anderson with Clark Kellogg and Grant Hill. And giving us the rundown from the sidelines, reporter Ally Lefor. All right, checking out Golden State’s opening lineup. Curry and Pods pairing up in the back court. Down low, it’ll be the tenacious pair of Butler and Draymond. And it’s Moody in at the small forward position. And for the Lakers, Reeves and LeBron out on the perimeter. Aimura at power forward with Aiden at center. And it’s Donuchin at the point guard position. Well, two of the best guards in the league going at it today, Grant. Is there a bit of bragging rights on the line? You know, maybe not for the players themselves, BA, but the fans will absolutely use this game as evidence when they argue why their guy is the best. Moody passes to Butler. And here’s Curry. [Applause] Back to Butler. Just five on the clock. Green. A screen. Jacks up a three. Rebound by the Lakers. Time now to hear from our reporter Ally Leforce. Well, earlier I spoke with JJ Wright. I asked him about keys to the game and he said all roads lead to Steph Curry in particular his movement off ball. Coach said even when you try to switch, he finds little pockets of space. Then he uses that quick trigger to beat closeouts. It’s never an easy matchup. Back to you. Okay, good stuff. Thank you, Ally. I got him. I got him. Here’s Butler following the three-pointer by Los Angeles. Pass to Curry. Back to Pajki over James. And the first shot of the night for him. No good. The defense made an impact right there. Definitely got him uncomfortable going up with it. to the middle. That’s good from Aiden on the assist from Donic. Grown man strength right there. Aiden just pushing through contact and getting it done. First quarter of play with about a minute and a half gone by. Donic against Curry outside for Butler. takes the three and again it’s the Warriors missing. James outside. Nice start for him. Sinking his first shot. You can really feel the momentum swinging in their direction. You know they need to stay aggressive here. Build the lead up while they’ve got the chance. Don’t waste this opportunity. Golden State has gone 0 for two from outside. Pass to Moody [Applause] outside Pajki and stolen by Reeves. Aimura against Butler from deep. Reeves. The rebound by Moody. The Warriors have gone 0 for three from the floor to begin this one. Got a hand on it. important that Hamur continues to make an impact on the defensive end. Terrific block right there. Nice ball movement by Los Angeles. Pass to Reeves now. Aiden Green covering. Five to shoot. Lets it go. And it’s Donic missing. Warriors trail by seven. And one guy you can neither speed up nor slow down. That’s Luca Donic, Brad. Yeah, BA. He completely dictates the pace from the opening tip till the final buzzer. He can control the game. Curry. That’s good. Off a pass. Steph Curry. That one is always going in or almost always going in. James outside. That one falls. Great setup by Donic. Donic has got his third assist of the night. Man, this is just fun. These teams are trading threes back and forth. Nothing like answering back. One team gets three, you fire three of your own. Boom. And Steve Kerr wants a timeout. I think right now he might be looking at some adjustments. [Applause] Heat [Applause] up here. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Just over three and a half minutes gone here in the first. But Jimky shot is good. Boy, the leadership, the unselfishness from Butler. You can count on him to share it. The Lakers lead by five. Here’s Donic. Pass to James Mur from long range. The rebound by Moody. That’s his shot and one I’m sure he wants back. A shot by Butler. No good. And here’s Donic. He’ll bring it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. Aiden with a screen. The deep three, the put back. Oh, he hangs in there and cashes in on the second chance points. I mean, come on. A sevenfooter with a 75 wingspan. Aiden beats everyone to the ball and converts easily. Now here’s Curry. Can’t connect from long distance. Aimura. The pass to Jane. Now Aiden. Got to be careful how you guard Aiden. He’s so creative at finding ways to draw fouls. Los Angeles shooting their first shots from the free throw line tonight. [Applause] Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. You go. Let’s get it. Get it. Get it. The first free throw is good. Well, Grant, the Lakers captured the three seed last season, but only the eighth best point differential in the West. What does that tell you? It tells me that they overachieved in the regular season. But a team this star studded has postseason aspirations as well. That’s where they’ll look to improve. Aiden hits them both. And Grant Stephen Curry said his goal was to play meaningful basketball games. With the arrival of Jimmy Butler, that proved to be the case. Yeah, the Warriors have been looking to get Steph some help. To fit with Jimmy was questioned, but it’s worked out better than most people expected. Now, here’s Butler. No made baskets yet. Four on the clock. Here’s Pajki. And Aiden pulls it down. Aiden’s got six rebounds here tonight. [Applause] from seven ft away and too long on the shot. Warriors trail by nine. They need something good to happen here. Yeah, they’ve gone way too long without a score. Pass to Butler. The kick out. Curry and a great assist by Butler as that one goes. Butler’s got three assists in the game. It looks easy, effortless. Curry natural from long range. Los Angeles has gone two of five from deep. Back to James. [Applause] Six to shoot to the paint. Here’s Aim Mura and it’s slammed in by AI Mura. Well, making the right decision in pick and rolls, the right basketball play. James is excellent at that. Well, the Warriors shooting an unremarkable 30% in the first on the wing. Green outside. Curry. Green a screen. Another three for Golden State. He’s consistent from out there, especially when you give him that kind of room. James outside. Back to Donic. Out to James. Now Donic. The three is up. Warriors with the rebound. [Applause] Left side. Moody. Rebounded by LeBron. And the shooter had very little space on that attempt. And guys, that’s exactly the kind of high impact defense they want to see out of him. Donic finds Reeves. Alioop up top. Hammer it home. And the lead increases on a crazy offensive sequence. Man, the dunk alone would have been incredible. Let alone the fact that it came off a pinpoint pass. Boy, I tell you what, they’ve got this team just a step away from being completely sleep. And Steve Kerr wants a timeout. Coach probably just checking to make sure everybody’s on the same page here. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] And some changes here for the Lakers. Cleba, he’s checked in for Eightton. Vanderbilt comes in for Achimura and it’s Marcus Smart in for Reeves. [Applause] Green. The pass to Heel. Back to Green. Heel. The screen on Vanderbilt. And here’s Green from the arc. Donic pulls down the board. Los Angeles leading by seven. And let’s swing it over to the sideline and hear from Ally. Hey Brian, Luca Donic has studied LeBron James’ game for a long time. And now they’re teammates. Luca said it’s a dream come true. I always look up to him. I think we both make our teams better. Our IQ is very high. Just having two guys like that on the court helps the whole team out. Back to you. Quite a tandem. Okay, Ally, thanks for the report. Here’s James. The Warriors getting their last shot to go. Outside Vanderbilt. Cleba outside. Nice ball movement by Los Angeles. Just five to shoot. And there’s James from the arc. That’s good. And it’s Smart with the assist. James has got eight. LeBron ready to fire. Shot it with confidence there. Pass to Kaminga outside. Curry back to heel. Here’s the three. That won’t go. Misses his first shot of the game. Pulls up and it’s Donic missing. This has not been his best quarter. You know, guys, it seems to me as though he’s over anxious. He seems to be pressing, trying too hard, moving too fast. Just needs to calm himself down and wait for good shots. Drains the triple. Quite simply, one of the best three-point shooters in this game. That’s Buddy Heel. Pass to James. [Applause] Lays it up and banks it in. 10 points for him. There’s only one thing on his mind. Get to the rim and take the defense out of the equation. Here’s Curry. It’s rebounded by Cleba. Operating from mid-range. That’s a shot he likes. I mean, I’m sure he’d love to have that one back. Out of bounds. It’ll be Warriors ball. Laby has checked in for James. And the Warriors making a switch here. [Applause] Warriors trail by seven. Who’s got pass to Kaminga? [Applause] Inside and he jams it after taking the nice feed on the run. Oh yeah, that’ll do it. Wow, an emphatic two-handed slam. I tell you what, if he’s got a few more of those in him, this lead will really start shrinking. And so it’s Donic with it. He brings it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. [Applause] Clea passes to Smart. Here’s Labia. Over to the wing. Donic on the wing. Shot clock at six. Labia outside. Off target from outside. The Warriors shooting only 39% in the early going. Pass to Jackson Davis. Guarded by Donic. And here’s Heel to the inside. Here’s Jackson Davis. Ooh, good finish at the rack off a slick feed. And now just a three-point Laker lead. Pounding it inside early and often setting a physical tone. Here’s Smart. No points so far. Now here’s Cleba. [Applause] Here’s Smart. Pass to Vanderbilt. Now Donuchia with a screen. There’s the triple and it’s Donic missing. Hey, I think that green light they given him early should probably go red now. I mean, he needs to get some other folks involved. Now Kaminga takes a three. Vanderba pulls it in. Smart looking around. Fires from deep. He’s off on that one. Warriors trail by three. Pass to heel [Applause] down low. Here’s Jackson Davis and it’s flush down. A nice jam. What he lacks in height, he certainly makes up for with his bounce. And so it’s LeBron James making things happen for Los Angeles. He put together 10 points in the quarter. And more NBA action on 2K Sports coming your way right after this. [Applause] and close game underway so far. We’ll see if either of these teams can jump out ahead in this second quarter. All right, guys. What do you think about the offensive approach we’ve seen so far for Los Angeles? They’ve done a great job establishing an inside presence. Now, that’ll open up more options offensively throughout the remainder of the game. You know, I also like the fact they’ve been really aggressive in attacking from behind the ark. They could do a lot of damage from there tonight. Maxi Cleba out there with Jared Vanderbilt. Then there’s Marcus Smart. Then it’s Austin Reeves and it’s Larabia and at the small forward position. That’s the Laker five. Everything right except the finish. Have to keep focus all the way through the play. As you know, acquiring a big man was a priority for the Lakers in the offseason, Grant, and that became a glaring need as we saw in their first round exit against Minnesota. But enter DeAndre Aton, a definite upgrade, BA. And we know Luca is at his best alongside a rim running center. Now, here’s Smart. He’s scoreless. [Applause] The Lakers got to get one up. Late clock. Clea shot is off. The Warriors lead by four. Heel passes to Butler. [Applause] And just about a minute and a half has passed here in the second quarter. And it’s Heel missing. And for the Lakers, they’re shooting around 41%. And again, the Lakers no good. Surprising to see him miss here, but they’ll be happy with that shot in most possessions. [Applause] Smart against Butler over Smart. Pass to Jackson Davis. And here’s Heel. Golden State needs to get off a shot. [Applause] Arabia passes to Smart. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. And when it comes to taking an offense out of its rhythm, what are some of the primary methods, Grant? Well, BA, you have to disrupt their flow. That can come from steals, deflections, block shots, even chain shots, anything that makes them feel uncomfortable. And that one falls for Smart. [Applause] [Applause] And so Smart nails them both. And last season, the Warriors had their most success playing a small ball lineup. Grant, well, they more than held their own on the backboards in defending the paint. But you knew they’d look to add some size this summer. Now here’s Butler. Five points in the game. And again, it’s the Warriors missing. Pass to Smart. And we’re now a little over 2 and 1/2 minutes into the second. Back to Reeves [Applause] from deep three-point land. Warriors with the rebound. And here’s Heielded Pass to Butler. [Applause] Reeves with some nice tea. Out of bounds as Los Angeles keeps possession. Internet sensation. Supreme Dreams in the crowd. LA always packs in the big names. Yeah, it’s a hallmark of Lakers games. You’re going to see the stars in the crowd every night. Guys like Supreme Dream are what make these LA home games so special. Here’s what Los Angeles is going with right now. Koko comes in for Cleba and Vincent is subbed in for Smart. Now here’s Reeves. Back to Vincent. shoots over Curry. Benson can’t hit. Golden State has gone one for three from downtown here in the second. [Applause] Now here’s Butler. He’s got five outside. Curry from outside the ark. Good. And Butler gets the assist. Butler’s got his fourth assist in this one. Huge night for Curry in a great rhythm thus far. That’s always bad news for the team he’s facing. Lakers trail by five. Outside Reeves [Applause] it. He’s two for four in this game. When Reeves can get the ball inside, he’s a pretty reliable scoreer. Pass to Heel. Launches it. Rebounded by the Lakers. Outside Reeves. Here’s Vincent. Guarded by Heel. Reeves against Curry. And the shot counts. He’s fouled. And it’s a chance for a three-point play. All right, guys. What do you think about the offensive approach we’ve seen so far for the Warriors? Well, we’re in the era of the three-point basket. So, if you want to win games in this league, you have to connect from deep, and they have been thus far. One other thing they’ve done really well moving the ball around. They’ve done a nice job not settling for that initial option and making that extra pass. And so Curry will bring it up for the Golden State Warriors [Applause] outside heel. [Applause] Pass to Green. Down to five on the shot clock. Shoots. Curry shot is off. The Lakers have got two of seven attempts to drop since the end of the first quarter. Hayes with a screen. Reeves the pass to Hayes. Butler with a steel outside. Curry [Applause] back to Green. Three-pointer. It’s Hayes with the rebound. Los Angeles has gone 0 for three from deep to begin the second. So they take the lead. Reeves has got seven now in this quarter. I love watching Reeves do his thing from the mid-range area. He’s got a smooth package. Heel to the ball. Pass to post inside. Will it go down low? Butler drops it in. Credit their discipline. They’ve been working for high percentage shots. The Lakers have gotten five of eight attempts to drop since the second began. Now Reeves uneasy two on the layup. Reeves has got 11 points. He’s one of those guys who just knows how to generate offense. The Warriors trailing outside heel back to Curry. 43 from behind the ark and Heield gets a three. He’s got his second basket of the game. There’s the quick hands from Heil. Saw the defender closing in, then pulled the trigger for Los Angeles. They’ve gotten four of their first nine shots to go here in the second. No doubt Stephen Curry is the best shooter of all time. Talk about what makes him special, Greg. Well, BA, he can hit shots under the most difficult circumstances, offbalance with only a sliver of daylight. This is why teams often choose to double him the moment he crosses half court. And Steve Kerr wants a timeout. He’ll take the opportunity to regroup. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Some changes now for the Lakers. DeAndre Aton, he’s checked in for Hayes. Aimura comes in for Vanderbilt and James is subbed in for Reeves. [Applause] Now here’s Moody. Checked by James. Now Jackson Davis. He has six. Five on the clock. Outside. Green fires the three. Offensive board. The kick out. Curry. No good with the triple for Los Angeles. They’ve gone five of 10 in the second quarter. Here’s Donic. How can Los Angeles? Boy, it’s so impressive you see Donic at his size handle the ball the way he does as a defender. He can really put you on your heels. Now here’s Pajki. Pass to Curry. Puts up a three. Oh, Curry. A sick triple. Pick works well there, but the defense left a lot to be desired. Yeah, that’s not the defense you need. You got to be tougher defensively. Aimura outside and stolen by Green. The finish and it’s hammered home by Green. We can’t forget where Green is in transition because he keeps himself ready to score in these situations. Here’s Donic. He’s got five. Aimura outside. Curry against Donic. Here’s Aiden. Oh, and makes it with the kiss. Aiden’s got eight. Yeah, when you let Aiden get the ball close, it’s over. DeAndre is just too skilled. All right, let’s check in with Alli Le Force. Thank you, VA. The Warriors at last season’s trade deadline swinging the deal for Jimmy Butler. Stephan Curry said him signing an extension is big. He’s committed for this run. It creates expectations, which I love. We all thrive off of that energy and that kind of environment. We are up for the challenge. Brian, they’re all in. Ally, thank you. Donic good. You cannot give Luca any space out beyond the arc because he’ll make you pay every time. Here’s Curry outside for Green. This one for three. That drops and it comes off an assist from Curry. Green’s got his second basket on the night. Nice inside out ball movement keeping the defense on its toes. The Lakers have gotten eight of 14 shots to drop so far in the second. Pass to Aiden. Here’s James outside. Connect. Nice ball movement by Los Angeles. Shot clock at five. Double team on James. Fires the three and it’s connect missing. The Warriors shooting at about 44% so far. Vajinsky into the lane. Here’s Curry from 6 feet away again. Golden State. And boy, has this been a competitive matchup thus far. These teams have swapped leads seven times already, and we’re not even in the second half. And now a timeout called by JJ Reic. He’s going to gather the troops and talk it over. Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Heat. The Lakers making a switch here. Reeves has checked in. The Warriors also with a sub. Kuminga’s checked in. [Applause] And so it’s Donic with it. He brings it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. And Clark for all the excitement around acquiring Luca Donic. Now the Lakers hoping to get him back to the NBA finals. Yep. His youth sets them up for the future BA. But with LeBron James in the fold, they still want to try to win. Now the guard attributes on display there. Luca with one of the quicker releases you’ll see in the game. We’ve got 123 left to play in the half outside. Pajki [Applause] outside Moody to the middle. Here’s Curry on to Kaminga. Pass to Moody outside. And the Warriors with another three. One team gains momentum, then the other storms back. Hey, if this is any indication of how the game is going to go, we’re in for a treat. Now, here is James. [Applause] Aimura outside. Pass to James from deep. Dominga pulls it in. The Warriors leading Green. And the pass to Moody. Back to Green. Curry looking it over. [Applause] 12 tries working that in between area. Steph likes to keep the defense on its heels. Kicks it to Donic offline with a three. And the first half comes to a conclusion in a game that’s been very close so far. Warriors ahead leading by four. We’ll see you after halftime for the beginning of the third quarter. [Music] And we’ve got second half action for you. Thus far, a pretty evenly contested game. Stephen Curry having a dominant impact in this game. Well, if he’s hit threes like he did in the first half, he’s going to have a monster night. Yeah, you know what? The defense is going to adjust. They’ll be ready for him now. So, I’m sure they talked a lot about how to slow him down. [Applause] The Warriors lead by four. Kicking off the second half. Here’s Steve Kur five down low. to be the tenacious pair of Butler and Draymond. Curry and Pods pairing up in the back court and it’s Moody in at the three. Fighting through contact. Not easy trying to corral LeBron when he’s focused on scoring. Good luck with that. Outside Moody the three. Oh, Moody deadly from there. Wellchrated and then the pass is right on the money. Donic passes to Reeves. Now Aiden Donic outside tried to come right back with a three of his own but it’s no good outside Pajimky. Moody on the wing and play stops. A whistle there on what looks like an illegal screen. The screener was leaning a bit right there. His feet may not have been planted. Pretty obvious call by the officials. Yeah, I agree. You know, sometimes that can be a tough call for the refs to make, but not that time. It was easy there. Now here’s Reeves. Here’s James from the arc and there’s Reeves. That one’s good on the assist from James. Reeves has got 17 points. Things are clicking. Reeves in a groove. He knows he doesn’t need to slow down. Keep it coming. The Warriors shooting at a respectable 49%. Pass to Butler. Lets the three fly. James with the rebound. Los Angeles has gone one of two shooting from the perimeter since halftime and it’s Donic missing. It’s clear he’s totally out of sync. The team needs to rethink its strategy around what to do with him. Emphatic finish from Butler. Yeah, great move by Butler. Setting the pick then getting the score. And here’s Donic. He’s got 10. [Applause] Two minutes gone in this third quarter now. Pass to James. No good on the three. And so it’s Butler who brings up the ball for the Warriors. Four-point game. Green with a screen on Donic on target from range. Curry’s got 22. The ball handling of Steph is sometimes undervalued. I mean, he’s much more than a shooter. This guy has mad skills as a handler. Now, here’s Donic. The Warriors pull it in. Moody’s got five rebounds in the game. Pass to Pajimsky. [Applause] Green with a screen on Donic and he can’t extend the lead to double digits. Lakers trail by seven. Grant LeBron has had so much recognition over the years, but truly he might not get enough credit for what he’s meant to the NBA. Yeah, you might be right, VA. Truly a global ambassador for the game of basketball. He set the standard for what a superstar can be really in any sport. Excellent timing by Aiden on the alley pass. He’s perfectly positioned to throw it down. The Warriors lead by five and Steve Kerr wants a timeout. He’s going to take a minute to regroup with his players. Yeah, coach no doubt wants to use this timeout to review the matchups and maybe make some adjustments as well. Yeah, and I agree. I think there’s going to be a new wrinkle in their game plan when they come out of this timeout. [Applause] Yeah. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. Here’s [Applause] Green. He’s got five. Here’s Butler. And it’s Butler with the jam. Love the force and focus that Butler plays this game with that was reflected in the finish. A little under three and a half minutes off the clock now in the third quarter. Now here is James. 12 points for him. Kicks it to Donic. That falls. Nice feed that time from James. Donic has got 13 though. Oh, nice feed. on time and on target. Pass to Curry from deep three-point range. The Lakers with a rebound. Just terrible defense. I don’t know how he missed that shot. Reeves the pass to Donic. James deciding where to go with it. And Los Angeles. Another three. Well, you know, defensively you try to keep LeBron out of the lane, but then he drops that on you. Pass to Butler. Moody from outside and the three-pointer goes. Moody’s got six points in the quarter. This is just fun. These teams are trading threes back and forth. Nothing like answering back. One team gets three, you fire three of your own. Boom. Now here is James. 15 points in the game. Picked it. Moody with it. Now Donic defending. Here’s Curry all the way to the rim. Curry. The only time Curry gets a little breathing room is on the break. And he’s loving that one. [Applause] Lakers trail by six. [Applause] James outside. There’s the three. And Los Angeles another three. And that bucket from beyond the arc puts them within reach. He’s really been putting that shot to work. You bet he has. I mean, working overtime. The triple’s been his bread and butter in this ball game. Nothing but butter. Sweet butter. And here’s Curry for three. Another three for Golden State. This is how competitive Curry is. He’s got a great competitive spirit. You drain a three on him, guess what? He’s looking to come right back at you. James double teamed for three and that’s good. Nachimura for three. Nachimura’s got five points. Got to fight harder to get over those screens. Well, I’m going to credit the screen. I mean, that’s a good strong pick. He lays there. The Warriors lead by three. Outside PJMski. Here’s Butler outside. Curry [Applause] puts the move on and the Warriors tack on two more. And the shooting mechanics of Curry, they are as pure as anybody who’s ever played. He’s such a dangerous shooter and scorer. Now, here is James. He’s got 18. Moody with it. Picked up by James. Count it. Now it’s a seven-point Warrior lead. He’s used to sharing the love. Exceptional timing on that pass. [Applause] And so it’s James with it. He brings it up for the Los Angeles Lakers. One more. Physical play by LeBron inside. Yet another stellar night for LeBron offensively so far. In some ways, he’s just unstoppable. And it’s hammered home by Green. Woo! Defensively, you can’t afford to let him get to the rim that easily. Well, that might be why their deficit is what it is right now. You know, you look at it, the communication is lacking, as is the trust. They can ill afford those types of breakdowns. It won’t work. You can’t win with those kind of breakdowns. The Lakers with the ball. The Warriors getting their last shot out to go. James can’t get it to go. Green. The pass to Curry. Butler a screen on Donic. Curry Aimura with a rebound. Lakers trail by seven. Pass to Reeves. And here’s James. Oh, James knocks down the triple. That defense has to worry so much about LeBron as a passer that it opens things up for his jump shot. Golden State has got four of eight attempts to fall from deep here in the third quarter. And here is Green is covered by Eaton. Donic against Curry. Oh, it’s stolen by Butler and inside. He sends it right off the glass. That’s tipped. Here’s Aimura. Uses the glass to finish the layup. Now just a two-point Warrior lead. Nice job by Hatimore. He is so good below the foul line. Pass to Pajimski. Outside Moody now. Butler outside. Curry. Six on the shot clock. Up and over. Dodic. And there’s Curry on the assist from Butler. Butler’s got six assists in the game. He is on one right now carrying the offense. Just keep finding it. And a closer look here at the scoring breakdown for the Warriors. Well, you know, for me, the passing has been fantastic all night. Everybody loves watching this style of basketball where the ball moves and players move, coaches, fans, and even us broadcasters can appreciate that kind of action. Yeah. Something else they’re doing in this game is striking from long range. The defense just hasn’t been able to keep them off the arc tonight. He misses the free throw. Luca Donic is a superstar in this league and he continues to build on what is going to be some kind of resume when it’s all said and done. Has every tool that you need to have to be an MVP one day. Here’s what Los Angeles is going with right now. Cleba. He’s checked in for DeAndre Aton. And it’s Jared Vanderbilt in for Achimura. And he’s good on the second. The Warriors lead by three. [Applause] Outside. Curry. Look at Chef Curry cooking it up inside. Hey, inside Curry has all the tricks. Floers, scoop shots, fall aways, left hand, right hand. However he has to do it, he will. James passes to Vanderbelt. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. It’s going to go on Draymond Green. And even from where we’re sitting, you could clearly tell it was a foul. No question about it. I mean, a ton of contact and a good call by the officials. First trip to the line for him here. That free throw no good. Marcus Smarts checked in for Los Angeles. Jackson Davis has checked in for the Warriors. Santos comes in for Stephen Curry. [Applause] [Applause] and he sinks the second heel to the ball. He has six to the inside. Here’s Kuminga and he can’t get that one. Good work defensively by James Clark. Over the last few seasons, LeBron’s three-point shooting has been more efficient than ever. Yeah. How about this, BA? Since 24, he’s right around 40% from deep on five attempts per game. So, that’s really impressive. And, you know, a guy like him, his greatness, part of his greatness is how he continues to reinvent his game, making modest modifications to what he does. Here’s Heel following the score by Los Angeles. Here’s Kuminga. LeBron with the rebound. James has got six rebounds now in the game. There’s a minute 47 left in the third quarter for the tie again. Los Angeles. Superb work in the pick and roll that time by LeBron James. Such a pro at executing in these sets. Takes advantage of whatever mistake the defense makes. Now here’s Kaminga still without a bucket. And so he draws the foul headed to the line to shoot a pair. Yeah. And you never want to let shots at the rim go uncontested. Yeah, I couldn’t agree with you more. I mean, that’s the message they were sending with that foul. Nothing easy inside. First trip to the free throw line for him in this one. You know, guys, when you look at those numbers last year for him, I think it does affect how much you’re willing to go after contact because you’re a little fearful of getting to the foul line unless you’re in the and one situation. Um, too many trips to the line when you shoot it as poorly as he does actually can hurt you. That free throw good from Kuminga. [Applause] Both free throws good for Kaminga. The Lakers trail. It’s James on the wing. He’s watched by Kuminga. James can’t get it to go. Golden State has got four of eight attempts to fall from deep here in the third quarter. Back to Heel. Pass to Kaminga. Five on the clock. Here’s Jackson Davis. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. It’ll go on Maxi Cleba. He’s getting his first free throw attempts of the night now. Take a break. Take a break. Two shots. And he makes a first. [Applause] And he can’t hit the second. Lakers trail by three. James outside [Applause] to the paint. Clea outside from deep. The shots good on the assist by James. James has got eight assists here tonight. Hey, you leave him open, he’s going to make the defense pay for that level of disrespect. And the Warriors shooting it at 52%. Pass to Kaminga. Vanderba pulls it in. An opportunity now to retake the lead. showing off their intensity these last few minutes. Oh, nice. Smart slipping inside. I like watching Smart get it done inside. He is such a fearless competitor. And they can run out the clock here. No need to rush it. Yeah, don’t give them another possession here. Now healed. Three-pointer. Can’t get the three to fall. And we’ve just finished the third quarter. What a tight game we’ve got going. It’s Los Angeles leading by just two. And fourth quarter basketball will be coming your way on 2K Sports right after this. [Applause] And a worthy candidate tonight as we take a look at our State Farm assist of the game. And I’ll tell you what, this was a nobrainer tonight. Take a look at the precision on this feed. Couldn’t place it any better. Served him up a tasty room service dime right there, boy. And with these teams locked in a very close contest, this fourth quarter promises to be a good one. We’ve got Marcus Smart, Jared Vanderbilt out there with Maxi Cleba, then it’s Jake Larabia, and it’s Reeves in at the two. That’s who’s in the game for the Lakers. And they’re on the run for the finish. Oh, now that’s how you finish a break. Throw it down with force. Hey, we know it’s hard to score in this league. Reeves knows that, too. That’s why he wants to score in transition whenever he can. Here’s Heel [Applause] outside. Kaminga the three. unable to get that one. I think he’s gone completely dry. Nothing is hitting and you know, you can sense his frustration. This is going to be a test of his resolve here. Pass to Smart and he’s going for the lob. It’s stolen by Kuminga outside. Butler to the middle. Beautiful setup on the alley. Great catch. Great flush. Well, I tell you what, that’s the play we’ll remember if they can put together a little surge to break this game over. Just over a minute played here in the fourth. Outside Reeves back to Smart down low. Oh, got a piece of it. Clea passes to Smart. Five to shoot from 17. It’s rebounded by Golden State. Jackson Davis has got four rebounds now to the inside. Smart passes to Vanderbilt and it’s going to be a 3second call. Yeah, he tried to go with it before he caught it. Took his eyes off of it. You can’t have that at this point in the game. Vincent’s checked in for Smart. The Warriors trailing. [Applause] Moving along. Two minutes gone in the fourth. Butler passes to Heel. Out to the wing. Outside Butler. Clock at six. And they’re unable to get the time bucket there. Reeves against Butler. Outside Reeves. [Applause] Larabia outside. Nice ball movement by Los Angeles. Benson can’t hit. The Warriors have gotten just one shot to fall out of three attempts in the fourth. Jackson Davis, nice persistence to tip it back in. It’s all knotted up. That’s really an outstanding assist creating a great opportunity inside. You can see the chemistry between those guys. And so JJ Reic calls for the timeout. He clearly wants to talk it over and make sure everyone is focused. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] [Applause] Connect checked in for Los Angeles. Luca Donic comes in for Vincent. Santos has checked in for the Warriors. Stephen Curry comes in for Jackson Davis. A moment to hear from Alli Leforce. I was able to listen in on what JJ Reick was going over with his team. Coach was urging his team to play strong defense, reminding them no easy hoops. Give effort and help when needed. They do say defense wins championships, guys. Thank you for that, Ally. Here’s Connect. And once again, off the mark by Los Angeles. The Warriors have gotten half of their attempts to fall in the fourth. Two for four now. Santos can’t get it to go outside. Connect pass to Cleba. Now here’s Donic. He’s covered by Curry. [Music] Here’s Connect. Clea outside. Donic and he can’t stop the drown. Another miss and Curry’s got the ball here for the Warriors. A great fourth quarter. Just giving up two points. Connect on the wing. Back to Donic. Pass to Connect outside. Vanderbilt. Now Clea lets it go from deep. Gets the three to fall. He was free to fire at his leisure there. Not much resistance. Cutler a screen on Donic outside heel. Butler against Vanderbilt. Heels from outside. Catch the three ball to go. Leave it to Heel to respond. A consistent three-point sniper. Pass to connect. Back to Donic. [Applause] punches it home. Can’t let Donic get the positioning he seeks or he’ll dump all over you. Golden State has gone one for three in the fourth quarter from range. Now here’s post and here’s Curry to take the lead and the Warriors with another three and this is how he shines. He’s a big part of their floor spacing and you know what it’s all about the long distance game for him tonight. He’s getting it done from out there. It pains me to say it but he’s hurting his team right now. Apparently he still has the green light because he’s jacking it up. [Applause] He’s feeling it. And a great assist by Butler as that one goes. Butler’s got assist number eight now on the night. Butler really sees the floor and finds his opportunities to move that ball around. A true team player. Here’s Clea and he drops in the layup off the glass with a tough road ahead. They worked hard to get a good shot. And the Warriors with possession here. They lead by one. Healed for three. Nails it from three. And that’s a clutch shot by a big time shooter. And wears the D. Donic passes to Clea. Here’s Connect [Applause] outside Vanderbilt. Shot clock at six. Pass to Connect. Nice ball movement by Los Angeles over heel and it’s connect missing. The Warriors lead by four. Steps back. Here’s Curry out to the right wing. Here’s Santos and the three off target. The Lakers have gone four for 10 in the fourth. Curry against Donic [Applause] with some arc. And here’s Vanderbilt from the arc. Sends it home from three-point land. And the defense is looking almost lost on the perimeter. That opens up a quality three-point shot and he delivers. I think that might have been intentional. It perhaps was not an accident because he’s typically not the guy that’s taking that shot at this stage of the game. Now here’s Larabio. Pass to Vanderbilt. Donic outside. [Applause] Luca, get off me. You know, as I watch Dantage, I think it’s feudal to try to distract this guy. His focus and concentration and control of himself is exit back to heel and he floats it in for the easy two. Credit the sweet setup on that one. Oh, this one has turned into an absolute nailbiter. Yeah, at this point you almost expect it to come down to the last possession. Now here’s Dantic. I see him to the paint. Arabia outside pass to Donic. It’s stolen by Curry. No good. Good D by Vanderbelt. He felt the defense on that attempt. Great rim protection and finished off by Cleon. This has been the story of the game. A battle fought on offense. Any l in the action so far has been shortlived because there have been nothing but buckets in this one. Look at Donic finishing the break in style. And a breakdown here, guys. The hustle stats for the Lakers. Their defensive intensity has served them well. It kept the offense scrambling and resulted in several steals. And I love the fact they kept the pressure on. Really pushing that ball, running it up the floor. I love seeing that. A team staying aggressive even when they’re playing well. Now Curry [Applause] and it’s blocked outside. Connect. Yes, using that window. Well, Kette is used to just finishing plays, so seeing him share the wealth is encouraging. And Steve Kerr calls time out here, rallying his guys to make sure they all know the plan. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] And Los Angeles will go for a different look here. DeAndre Eaton. He’s checked in for Cleba. Aimura comes in for Vanderbilt. James is checked in for Larabia. And Austin Reeves is subbed in for Connect. [Applause] Warriors trail by five. Here’s Green. [Applause] Curry outside. rebounded by Donic. And here are the Lakers. They’re on a 13-5 run. And here’s Aiden. Takes a three. Cash from downtown. Looks like they’re gaining some confidence here in crunch time. You can feel the sense of urgency they have to get this thing closed out as soon as possible. And so Curry will bring it up for the Warriors. [Applause] A minute 53 left to play in the fourth quarter of this one. Oh, off target from downtown. The Lakers lead by eight. Now James. Oh, that’s easy work for LeBron inside. Their offense has been unstoppable. Just firing on all cylinders. And you know, the lead just keeps growing. I mean, this game is not going to get out of their grip. They’re going to keep pulling away. Butler banks it home. Big shot. Look, he’s not the bulkiest guy in terms of his frame, butler is really fearless and plays with great confidence and toughness, and it’s hard to stop him because of that. Now, here’s Hachimura. Now, here’s Reeves. James inside. Moody defends. Three on the clock. Eightton active on the glass there. Second chance points. Both sides are simply waiting for the clock to make it official. This is going to end up in the books as a nice win for the Lakers. They made a point to get some good looks. Yes, they were able to pound the ball inside. I love it. And what a huge performance it was for LeBron James. Tell you what, this guy worked his behind off on both ends of the floor. He was really an intimidating presence out there. Donic. Oh, he missed the jumper. Now 8 seconds separating the two clocks. Counted. No fear in Butler. Not afraid of anybody. Poise personified. takes pride in stepping up when the game is on the line. [Applause] And now we’ve got an intentional foul. until they foul intentionally. [Applause] He hits the first one and that increases the lead to six. [Applause] Second one is good. Getting both at the line and it’s a seven-point game. That’s how you protect the lead. build it out with clutch free throws. Time called here. The Warriors decide to talk it over. 23 seconds left in the fourth. All right, guys. What’s your take? Trying to extend this one, but it seems feudal. You know what? I’m sure crazier things have happened or or maybe not. It’s It’s a long shot, though. Heat up here. Heat up here. Up top, Curry guarded by Donic. He’s off from three. So, it’s Los Angeles picking up the win. Boy, they didn’t make it easy on their fans or themselves, but at the end of the day, everyone on their side is happy. Yeah, happy indeed. The momentum shifted away from them a few times, especially early on, but give these guys credit for sticking with the game plan and finishing the job. All right, to Alli Leforce with our player of the game. All right, guys. LeBron, a superstar matchup tonight. What goes through your mind when you’re facing that kind of a challenge? You know, for me, it’s never about an individual challenge um or individual game. It’s about the team. Now, you do take the challenge anytime you’re going against anybody, but you also got to have your mind in the game, too, and not make it personal. So, taking the challenge, making sure your mind is in the right frame, and uh just trying to make plays for your teammates to be successful. Thanks, LeBron. Back to you, Greg. No secret that these teams don’t like each other. Could things get a little chippy tonight? It would not surprise me at all, Kevin. These teams not only fierce rivals, but there’s a little bit of animosity for one another. Throw in the fact that both these teams play in the same conference. You know, I’d say the spirits might be high tonight. Now, Golden State’s starting five. Backcourt pair will be Curry and Pajki. Butler is the four and Green operates as the small ball center and it’s Moody in at the small forward position. [Applause] pass to Hatchima over in the corner. Donic. Five on the clock. Good. Nice job down low. Once Donic gets inside with the ball, he’s halfway there. Then he just uses his strength to finish the job. We’re about 1 minute into the first now. We’ll hear from Ally Leforce and she’s got a story for us, an update. Ally, well, JJ Reick had a few moments to share with me. On the topic of curry, coach said, “It’s like playing a game of tech.” He continued, “We had our wings chase our guards around in practice, and everyone is on notice. We all know how good he can be. The important thing is to not take any plays off. will stay sharp or he’ll remind us. That’s for sure. Kevin, back to you. Great work as always, Ally. Thank you. Now, Donic, after Jimmy Butler missed from long range, count that bucket. Well, he is looking confident. Love how they’re using him so far. And now they are just going to keep riding that momentum with the hot hand. Now here’s Butler. Back to Curry to halt the run. LeBron grabs the miss. You know what though? Sometimes you can be too open. I think it may have surprised him and that’s why he missed. Reeves outside. Off target there. That would have pushed the lead to double digits. But their pass has occurred for three. And again, it’s the Warriors missing. Los Angeles has gone one and two from long range in the first quarter. Here’s Butler and it’s Butler with the jam. And everything Butler does he does with a bang, including those two points. And here in the first, approaching three minutes played. Curry against Donic. Pass to James and he lays it straight in. James has got five points so far. just setting the tone with an aggressive move to the rag and and where’s the help defensively. That is a quality look. You can’t do it much better than that. And here’s Curry who brings it up for the Golden State Warriors. Seven-point differential. Greg, last season the Lakers exceeded expectations by winning 50 games and finishing third in the West. They went on quite a run after acquiring Luca Donic, but they were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. And as we know, this is an organization judged on championship success. That’s going to draw a whistle every time down the floor, not even close to being a legal screen. Well, my feeling is you just want to make sure it’s called consistently both ways. Curry against Dunic. [Applause] Curry on the wing still scoreless. And that’ll be two free throws coming up. Officials on the call with the foul. And from technical fouls, Tim, to flagrant fouls, it always seems like Draymond Green is walking that line and in the crosshairs. Walking that line or stomping on that line. I don’t know what, but it’s where he seems to want to live. You love that competitive fire. You just have to make sure it doesn’t cross the line where he hurts his team. But don’t you think he knows exactly what he’s doing at all times? He understands most officials don’t want to give him that second technical. That’s for sure. One of the best defenders of his generation. Tim, do you think Draymond Green will be a surefire Hall of Famer? Well, he’s a former defensive player of the year and not to mention a key contributor on four Warriors championship teams. Kevin, he will be in the Hall of Fame. No question. The Lakers making a switch here. Vanderbilt’s checked in. What I appreciate most about Green is his leadership. Strong vocally on and off the floor. And they double up. Donic. LeBron passes to Donic. Six to shoot. LeBron a screen on P. Lets it go from the wing. Donic no good. Warriors trail by four. Pass to Pajki. Back to Curry. LeBron grabs the miss. Lakers have gotten four of six field goal attempts to drop in the first quarter. Nice passing here by Los Angeles. Vanderbilt setting the pick for Reeves. Out to Dunic. Count it. Good. Donic has got six. Well, that’s a tough matchup because he’s skilled and relentless. [Applause] Golden State’s gone 03 from three-point land. Nothing yet going outside [Applause] from deep. He gets hauled in by Los Angeles. Up top Reeves. He’s defended by Pompki. That’s good from Donic on the assist by Reeves. That’s now eight points for Luca Donuch. [Applause] Warriors trail by eight. They need a good offensive possession. Yeah, they’ve gone a long time without a bucket. Curry. Pass it to Butler. And here is Greenler. Back to Butler. puts up a deep three. He gets hauled in by Los Angeles. James has got four rebounds now tonight. Aimura kicks to James. To the inside trying to find Vanderbilt. Gets it to him. Screen by James on deep breeds and James throws it down. really seizing the momentum of this game but doing it with a methodical approach. We always talk about getting high percentage shots and they are teaching a master class in that right now. But Gemsky’s shot is good. Well, to stop him, you have to get better rim protection than that. [Applause] Here’s Donic. He’s got eight. launches it. Vanderbilt kicks to Donic. Offensive rebound. James outside. Just five on the clock over Moody. And the Lakers tack on two more. Excellent allaround performance so far. Hence the big lead. Well, it’s just an outstanding effort thus far. They’ve done a great job at both ends. Lakers leading by 10. To the middle of the pass to Donic and they double up. Donic. Pass to LeBron. Oh, yes, he did. Five up and five down for him so far. I I like their focus coming in. Terrific execution so far. And from the opening tip, they’ve been locked in. Just look at the score. That tells you all you need to know. Down low and Green gets it to go. Well, you want to stop Steph in the two-man game, but he’s so smart. He He’ll get others involved. [Applause] And so Donic will bring it up for the Lakers. 10-point lead. James outside. Reeves outside offline with his three. Great job on the close out and taking away space against a good shooter. Yeah, he gives up a few inches to most of his matchups, but his ability to rise above always gives him a chance. Los Angeles leading by eight. Reeves outside pass to LeBron over Moody and it’s James missing. You’re not going to see that very often. plenty of space, but he just, let’s face it, he whiffs on that one. Donic against Curry. Six on the shot clock. Fires for three. A rebound by the Lakers. Vanderbilt’s got his fourth rebound in this one. [Music] Bounce pass from Reeds. Vanderbilt the pass to Reeves. outside and again no good by the Lakers. Warriors trail by eight. Butler with the ball defended by Reed and it’s Butler missing. Los Angeles has gone a meager 106 from three-point land since we got started tonight. To the paint and foul on the shot. He’ll shoot two at the free throw line. And when Pakimura is looking to score, it sometimes forces the D to get aggressive. Love the energy. And so JJ Reick will call a timeout. Coach is going to take a few minutes to regroup and go over the strategy. Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Heat. [Applause] Jake Larabia has checked in for the Lakers. Marcus Smart comes in for Austin Reed and the Warriors with some changes. [Applause] Shooting two. [Applause] No good on the free throw. And GA we know coach Steve Kerr has been up front. In order to win, the Warriors need to take and make a lot of threes. Well, it’s the superpower of their best player, and the arrival of Jimmy Butler has provided some balance, but threes are still their best bet. and he sinks the second. And you look at the addition of Jimmy Butler, GA. Why has he been such a fit for the Warriors? He really is an unselfish, high IQ superstar. And that’s what the Warriors are all about. And and his isolation, interior scoring has given them another look offensively. That’s very smart use of the screen and it sets up a very close look on the wing. Donic to the left wing. Here’s Hatchim. Hands it from downtown and the Lakers lead by 10. Just solid with the jump shot. Hachimura helps your offense in a number of ways. In that case, spacing the floor. Back to Jackson Davis. Golden State moving it around. Donic outside and the Lakers hit again from Jeep. Seems like everyone’s taking long threes these days, but Donic has natural power in those legs. Generates range with ease. Here’s Post. Kiminga finds Post. Fires from deep. Roinga. No good. And so it’s Smart. He’ll bring up the ball for the Los Angeles Lakers. It’s a 13-point game and proving to be effective around the rim. Hakimura leaving no doubt about that one. They need to stop this run. You know what, Kev? I think it’s time to switch some things up either by going to your or with a different look defensively to disrupt their rhythm. Now, here’s Kaminga. Hasn’t made one yet. Lock at six. And it’s Labradia with the rebound. Los Angeles leading by 15. Pass to Vanderbilt. [Applause] 40 seconds left to play in the first. Here’s Smart and it’s off the back rim. No good. The Warriors shooting just 35% to start the game. Here’s Post. Pass to Kaminga. [Applause] It’s hauled in by Los Angeles outside and it’s Murray in the corner. It’s been all about Luca Donic for the Los Angeles Lakers. He comes away with 11 points in the quarter and is showing no signs of fatigue. We’ve got more in store for you right after this. [Applause] And glad to have you with us, folks. Second quarter of basketball. This game has not exactly been neck and neck, but plenty of time left in this one. And guys, let’s get your take on the scoring breakdown so far for the Lakers. Right away, they showed us they weren’t going to shy away from the mid-range game, and it’s proving to be an effective tool for them. And then there’s the points off turnovers. They’ve really made the other team pay when they’ve lacked ball security. So with Curry sitting on the bench, here’s the group that Steve Cerr has on the floor. Trace Jackson Davis out there with Jonathan Kaminga. Then it’s Butler, then it’s heel. And it’s post at the center. Lets it go from 11. Reeves can’t hit. Warriors trail by 15. He lobbs it up. Stolen by Smart. [Applause] [Music] Pass to Reeves. Back to Smart. [Applause] The rebound by Post. And for the Warriors, they’re shooting about 33%. Not happy with their play on that end. Heielded kicks to Back to He Butler. A screen on Smart Outside. Butler. Here’s Post. The shots good on the assist by Butler. Post has got the first basket of the second quarter for the Warriors. Pass to Vanderbilt. Now here’s Clever post covering. Smart passes to Vanderville outside. Smart. The Lakers need to get a shot off here. Again, the miss by the Lakers. Here’s Butler. Butler sinks the tough shot inside. You know, the way Butler handles himself in the paint, it really impressive. Just kind of out muscles and outworks anything the defense throws at him. Second quarter of play with around two minutes gone so far. Reeves against Butler. Up top Reeves. No scoring in this one. Shot clock at five. There’s the triple. He doesn’t hit that one. And when you can’t get anything to fall, it definitely gets in your head. If he can just make a couple of buckets though, this can all be put in his rearview mirror. [Applause] Now here’s healed. Let it go with a three. Clea with the rebound. Reeves against Butler. Screen by Cleba. Shoots. Reeves can’t hit. And here’s Heield. He’ll bring it up for Golden State. They haven’t allowed any points in the second quarter. Pass to Kaminga over Reed. Kaminga. No good. Lakers leading by 11. And in the second quarter, a little under three and a half minutes played already. [Applause] Reeves outside. Clea sets the screen for Reeves. Here’s Lorravia. Nailed from three-point land. La has got himself going there. His first points of the game on the deep ball. And now let’s swing it over to Alli Leapor on the sideline. Hey guys, the Warriors are trying to maximize what Steph Curry has left. Coach Kerr said, quote, “What we’re watching with Steph is one of the greatest artists of all time in his twilight. What can we do to give him the best chance to perform to make the game easier for him?” That’s where we are, guys. Looking to stay in the mix, Ellie. We thank you very much. [Music] [Applause] Heat up [Applause] here. [Applause] and Los Angeles with some changes. Connect. He’s checked in for Jake Larabia and Vincent subbed in for Smart and then for Golden State. Green comes in for Quinton Post and Curry subbed in for Trace Jackson Davis. Here’s Kaminga. Nothing on the board. Pass to heal. Kaminga. Screen on Reeds. Outside Butler. No good from outside. Lakers leading by 14. And Jimmy Butler is what some might call an old school kind of player. Uh would you agree, Greg? Yeah, I mean he’s all toughness, grit, and basketball IQ. A tone setter at the defensive end who plays unselfishly. That guy is all about winning. [Applause] Golden State’s gone 0 or two from deep here in the center. Heel dishes to Curry. over Vincent. Curry’s shot is good. I mean, what can we say about Steph’s jumper that hadn’t already been said? Pass to Clea. Now Vincent Lakers working the ball around now. Reeves outside. Five to shoot. And again, Los Angeles with the triple. Now that’s a high percentage look when the D doesn’t fight over the screen. Yeah. And that’s the effectiveness of the twoman game right there. Now here’s Heel back to Curry. Shoots the three. The three ball from Curry. And you got the feeling that was coming. Curry loves coming back with a three of his own. Los Angeles leading by 14. Vincent the pass to Reeves. fires the three and again Los Angeles with a triple. Nice answer back there. Love to see the competitors. And when you give up a three, there’s always this instinct to try and get it back immediately. Now here’s Curry. He’s got five. Just five to shoot. Pulls from the top of the key. Rebound the Lakers. Here’s connect. It doesn’t go for him. Nice defense from Kaminga. Warriors trail by 17. Pass to Curry outside. Green [Applause] outside. Butler in the paint. Butler. Not many guys with Butler’s build have his skill set inside. Here’s [Applause] Vincent. And so JJ Reick will call a timeout. He’s going to take a minute here to get things straightened out. [Applause] Heat up here. Heat. [Applause] Heat. And Los Angeles will go for a different look here. Aton, he’s checked in for Maxi Cleba. Hatchima comes in for Vanderbilt. James checked in for Austin Reed. And Luca Donuch subbed in for Gabe Vincent. Moses Moody, he’s checked in for the Warriors. Pajki’s coming in for healed [Applause] [Music] right side and here’s Donic from the arc. Yes, it’s James picking up the assist. Donic has got 14 points. Warriors trail by 18. Pass to PMski outside Butler for the three from deep Jimmy Butler. The answer from Butler. No one is more competitive than Jimmy. Now connect now. Hon this one for three and again it’s the Lakers from deep. Another good play. This is how they built the lead. Calling on the right guys at the right time. Well, they are making something very difficult look simple right now. Murray finds Butler. Green with a screen for Butler. There’s the drive and out of bounds as the Lakers gain possession. Hey Tim, what are some of the keys to sticking around for role players fighting to remain at the NBA level? Well, if you are a role player in this league, you need to understand, you need to work at everything, but be exceptional at something. And I think that’s the key. Growing up, all of these guys were stars. Now, you’ve got to fit in and understand on a given night what your role is. And your thing, your sensational aspect was your three-point shooting. You’ve got to do it better than anybody else, Kevin. It’s got to be at an elite level because there are guys out there waiting to take your job. And you were elite. Stronger than he looks. Curry able to take the hit there and finish. [Applause] Lakers leading by 16. Pass to Hatchima. Now connect. Donic looking it over. Down to five on the shot clock. Eighton kicks to Hatchima. Los Angeles with another miss. Warriors trail by 16. Now here’s Green [Applause] right side. Curry shoots from eight and it’s in after a nice bounce off the right side. Post has got six. Oh, nice feed. You you can see how Curry makes their offense flow even when he’s not scoring for Los Angeles. They’ve gone six of 14 shooting here in the second and a wide open look for Hatimura. Good. And the assist goes to Donic. Donic has got three assists in the game. Outside Green. Golden State moving it around, but shot is good. Both teams running perimeter oriented plays that are working. Yeah, just going back and forth. It is really competitive out there. Lakers leading by 14. Connect with it. Still yet to score. Honic left side. LeBron outside. Shot clock at six. Back to Donic and he can’t answer back. The three-pointer offline. Pass to Penski. Now here’s Curry. Guarded by Donic. Outside Green. His three-pointer’s off the mark. Lakers have gone seven to 16. Shooting just under 50% here in the second quarter. Hatimura. The pass to Donic. A minute 50 left in the second quarter. Warriors trail by 14. Here’s Pachki. Down it goes for his third basket in as many tries. And they keep hammering away at him inside, forcing the ball into the paint. And so it’s Donic with it. He brings it up for Los Angeles. Lost contact on the shot. And now a three-point play chance as he’ll head to the line. And the total package, James, is so much fun to watch. When LeBron’s playing days are over and G, who knows when that’ll be, what will you remember most about his play? You know, I don’t think there’s ever been a player who came into the league with such lofty expectations and not only met those expectations, but fair to say he’s exceeded them. And as the days and months go by, Greg, it still may take us some time to get over the shock of last season’s trade of Luca Donic. And we know the question marks as far as conditioning and defense that led to it, but hard to bet against a talent of his caliber. And here is Aiden after the three-pointer from Stephen Curry. James finds Donic. Tried to answer back, but that three is off the mark. Warriors trail by 12. Pass to post. [Applause] Here’s Pajki. He’s defended by Reed. That one falls. PJMski’s got nine. Wow. What skill level to get that floater up and in right there. Nicely done. [Applause] 41 seconds left to play here in the second quarter. Curry against Donic. Eighton wide open and he’s good on the three ball. And the Lakers lead by 13. I love the confidence. Aiden knows he must continue to hone his jumper, especially shooting it off the catch. James looking it over. [Applause] The three for Donic. And so it’s the Los Angeles Lakers looking at a 13-point lead heading into the next quarter. They have been sharp from beyond the arc, putting on a terrific three-point shooting display. Ally, let’s go to you courtside. What do you have for us? Thanks a lot, guys. Head coach Steve Kerr here with us now. Coach, what do you want to see from this team in the second half? Well, we got to make some stops and get a little traction in this game. I mean, we fell behind right away and uh so let’s make a push the first four or five minutes, get back in the game. Thank you, coach. Terrific, Ally. Thank you. And we’ll be back after halftime for the start of the third quarter. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Applause] And after a very lopsided first half, we’ll see if things play out a little more evenly here in the second. You know, Luca Donic has been exceptional here, guys. Well, through the first two, he has been nothing short of a marksman from deep. And this offense continues to find him in his sweet spots from deep. [Applause] Warriors trail by 13. Aimura is the four with eight playing the five. The guard pair will be Donic and Reed. And it’s James in at the small forward. That’s JJ Red at five as we get into the second half inside and Aton throws it down. And the impressive reach of Aton lobbing up his way and he’ll take care of the rest. Warrior shooting 49% on the game. They’ll take that. to the middle. Green. No luck. Well, the defense challenged him just enough to force that miss. They really collapsed when he got close to the rim. Reeves in the corner. Off target from outside. Reeves has gotten just two of his seven attempts from deep to fall here. And out of bounds as Los Angeles gains possession. And about a minute of action so far in the third quarter. Back to Donic. Some nice passing here by Los Angeles. Eightton. A screen on Curry. The three for Donic. Here’s Eaton. gets it the ball from the right one. Eightton’s got four points this quarter and and padding that field goal percentage. Just hard to stop Aiden when he gets the ball that deep. Curry outside and the three ball is good. He’s done a great job filling up the box score, but so far it just hasn’t been enough. He needs help. James kicks to Donic. Lock at six. Back to LeBron. The three-pointer. No good. Warriors trail by 14. Pass to Moody. Back to Butler. Slides through for his seventh basket in 11 tries. And he does it with and without the ball. Butler stuffing that stat sheet. Here’s [Applause] Donic. He’s got 17. Reeves outside. No one near James as he lets it go. Hits the three-point bomb. LeBron’s got 17. Well, this team relies on his scoring. And no shocker, he’s done his part. Pass to Moody tried to come right back with a three of his own. It’s no good now. Hatchimal. And the officials call him for a 3second violation. [Applause] Warriors trail by 15. Watch Curry. Watch Curry. Third quarter here and three minutes have come off the clock. Here’s Butler. Oh, tough play by Butler. And this kind of shot defines who Butler is. Just a bulldog who embraces finishing against the tight coverage. LA has gone one of three from downtown since halftime. And Aon throws it down. And he can do a lot more damage to the rim than that when he wants to. Oh, you’re right. Oh, and with the lead they’re enjoying, I’m surprised he didn’t put a little something extra on that one. And so Steve Kerr decides to call a timeout. Coach is going to talk some things over with the team. Might be seeing something to adjust. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] Heat. Heat. Third quarter action in just under three and a half minutes have gone. Butler pass it to Curry. Tough finish, Curry. Great work inside by Curry there. So clever and composed in the paint. [Applause] Here’s Donic. He’s got 17 on the wing. James Lebron is doubled. Here’s Hatchima. No good on the triple. Warriors trail by 13. Pass to Pajki. [Applause] Outside Butler. And here is Moody. Stolen by Reeves. We’re now joined by our sideline reporter Ally Leforce. Ally, it’s all yours. Thank you, Kevin. Draymond Greens talked about his mind for the game. He said, “I’ve never been the tallest or the fastest.” We all have gifts. My IQ is a gift that was enhanced by great coaches. I was taught the game properly, so I’m very fortunate and extremely thankful for the coaches that I’ve had in my life. Back to you guys, paying tribute. Nice job. Okay, thank you, Ally. Here’s Moody. Good. And Butler gets the assist. Butler’s got three assists in the game. Yeah, everybody will remember the bucket, but how about that pass to set it up? Aggressive play by Butler against the defense. Playing from behind right here. Not easy, but he is answering the bell. He’s doing everything he can to keep him in this game. Finding good looks. Lakers leading by 10. Outside unloads and another basket for the Lakers. The skill of Donic at 67230. It makes him an impossible matchup defensively. Curry passes to Green. Here’s Butler. Rebounded by DeAndre Eaton. Eaton’s got his fourth rebound in this one. Tim DeAndre Eaton was coveted as the number one overall pick back in 2018. Well, he moves so well for a sevenfooter and he’s got great touch out to the mid-range, Kevin. His offensive game is special. And the defense has to be aggressive with Luca from range. Give him any space and he is looking to pull and the call is going to be Yes. Yes, it is an illegal screen. Beyond the leaning, you could see his feet more set on that screen. Easy call. Also, the ball handler needs to wait until the screener’s feet are set. Now, Reeves. 10 points for him. Reeves with the screen for LeBron. Back to Reeves. James outside. Six on the shot clock. And again, it’s the Lakers from deep. Boy, you have to be impressed with the offensive production. They have got it firing on all cylinders. Well, you have to love the execution and you have to love the relentlessness. Now here’s Curry. 15 points in the game. Green the screen driving in, but GMsky’s shot is good. Great job of screening there. Nice job to take it to the rim and get the finish. Lakers leading by 16. LeBron and here is LeBron. He’s got 20. Pass to Donic. Now Hatchima. Good. And the assist goes to Donic. Hatchima has got 12 points in the game. And we know Hachimura has a confident personality. You see it there with the rise and fire approach. Nice. Now here’s Curry. Some nice passing by Golden Stadium. It’s stolen by Himura. Pass to Reeves. Back to Himura. And stolen by Butler. And it’s Butler with the jam. And Butler on the break. You can’t give him any room to run or you might get your feelings hurt. And so it’s the Lakers with it. LeBron outside now. Hatchimal. And another three for the Lakers. And perimeter scoring. I have to imagine it was a topic of discussion at halftime. Well, they certainly have the shooters to do it. It’s just about finding that rhythm. And so Steve Kerr decides to call a timeout, looking for a breather and maybe adjusting a thing or two. [Applause] Oh my god. Oh my god. [Applause] I feel [Applause] Oh my Oh my god. [Applause] And some changes here for the Lakers. Maxi Cleba, he’s checked in for DeAndre Aton. Vanderbilt comes in for Hatchimura. And Smart subbed in for Austin Reeds. Then for the Warriors, Jonathan Kinga, he’s checked in for Moody. And Heel subbed in for Brandon Pajki. [Applause] And here are the Warriors now. And it’s Butler missing. And here’s Los Angeles. They’re on a 14-4 run. James kicks to Smart. Back to James and they double up James. Pass to Vanderbilt and it’s off from three-point range. Over in the corner, Green jacks up a three. Rebound the Lakers. Clea’s got four rebounds now tonight. Now here’s Smart. And James with the basket on the assist from Smart. James has got eight here in the quarter. And making it look easy. LeBron overwhelms the defense inside. [Applause] Here’s Curry. He’s got 15. Healed outside. LeBron against Kaminga. Pass to heal. No one near Curry as he lets it go and the Warriors miss again. Lakers leading by 22. Now here’s Donic. 22 points for him. And LeBron James with the three. James has got 25 points in the game. Oh, filling it up. James doing it all. Back to Curry. The three. Clebba with the rebound. Cleba’s got six rebounds here tonight. Pass to Smart. LeBron against Kaminga. James in the post. Nice defense from Kaminga. As we canvas the league and look at the landscape, some tremendous young talent on the wing. Jim, who might be the best wing player uh 5 years down the road, say? Well, I’m looking at Anthony Edwards right now because of the skill, the athletic ability, and then the competitive desire. I think he wants to be great. You’d also look at guys like Jason Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Certainly, and then you’ve got a guy like Kate Cunningham in Detroit who hasn’t even started to scratch the surface. Boy, you’ve made a great list of guys right there for sure. Timeout called Warriors. [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] And the Lakers with some changes. Jake Larabia comes in for James. And it’s Austin Reeves in for Smart. [Applause] Outside Kuminga. There’s a screen to the paint. Here’s Jackson Davis. Nice pass. Led him to the rack perfectly for the layup. What a pass right there. Coaches love seeing guys making it easy for their teammates. This could get even more out of hand if they continue to put up points. Wow, Kevin, what a performance we are seeing. Pass to Reeves. Back to Donic. Now Cleba post covering. Six to shoot. Cleba inside. The rebound by Post. Defense did just enough to force that miss. I really expected him to get two there. Explosive play by Hill. Taking off and slamming that one down before the D could react. 102 left here in the third quarter. [Applause] Donich with it. 24 points for him. And that one good. Donic has got nine points here in the second half. Haven’t we seen that a few times today, guys? I mean, their defense has got to have a little bit more toughness about it. And here’s Heield. He’ll bring it up for the Golden State Warriors. There’s the three. cranes the three-pointer. And you’ve got to be up on healed, especially when he’s beyond the arc. If not, he’ll burn you. Healed against Donic. [Applause] Count the basket. Donic has got 28 points for the game. Big miscommunication on defense. He recognizes it and quickly takes advantage. Well, the way this game has gone, I’m actually not surprised it was that easy for him. Here’s Jackson Davis. Some nice passing by Golden State in the corner. It’s healed from the ark. That one no good. It’s been all about Luca Donic for Los Angeles. A grand total of 28 points for him in the game. Now they have no answer for him defensively. We’ll get right back to the action when we return. [Applause] And there have been two very different performances from these teams today. as we get going in quarter number four. So with Curry sitting on the bench, here’s the group that Steve Cerr has on the floor. We’ve got Butler, Jackson Davis out there with Quinton Post. Then it’s Kaminga and it’s healed and at the point defensively you can’t afford to give him that kind of look, especially down this many points. One more miscommunication at the defensive end. Just brutal. It can’t happen. outside Butler from outside the arc again. Healed missing and Los Angeles guys shooting the ball really well in this game. 58%. And it’s Lorabia missing. Those are the ones you definitely have to make. Sometimes there’s just enough defense to make a miss. back to post and he goes in for the dunk. That pass into the paint, that is a work of art there. Dead on target. [Applause] A little over a minute of the fourth quarter gone right now. Here are the Lakers. [Applause] Here’s Smart. Reeves outside. lets it go from deep and the rebound goes to the Warriors. Post has got six rebounds now in the game. Butler with the ball defended by Reeves. Butler feeling out a bit. [Applause] Goes up and lays it nice and easy. Butler’s got 10 points here in the second half. A defensive breakdown there. No doubt about it. I mean, he’s a guy you have to be focused on defensively. Smart up top, covered by Heel. Smart against Healed. Smart misses. Warriors have gone two of three from the field to get the fourth quarter started. Kaminga the pass to Heel. Here’s Post [Applause] outside. Butler [Applause] and they double up post healed from outside. Rebound the Lakers and he didn’t punish them for the weak coverage there but they can’t count on him to continue missing. They get it back. Vanderbilt the pass to Reeds. That one good for two. Love that look there locating his teammate and creating an easy basket down low and Jackson Davis gets it to go. And I just love how Butler uses that pick and roll. Whatever the defense gives him, he takes. Lakers leading by 23. Outside smart. Back to Reeves. [Applause] Bass to Vanderbilt. Here’s Larabia. Back to Smart. Shot clock at five. Over healed. Smart misses. Golden State’s gotten off to an 0 for two start from downtown here in the fourth quarter. Back to Butler. Stolen by Reeves. Pass to Cleveland. Reeves against Heield. Shot clock at six. Here’s Reeves. Rebound by Butler. Butler’s got his fifth rebound in this one. And he loses it up towards the rim up high to stop the alleyoop. And how about the communication between teammates on that alley? And that’s what you need to pull that thing off. And JJ Reic is called timeout. Clearly, he’s got something his players need to hear. And immediately [Applause] Heat [Applause] up [Applause] here. [Applause] [Applause] and Los Angeles will go for a different look here. Koko’s checked in. James comes in for Jake Larabia. Dton connect. He’s checked in for Austin Reeds. And Donic is subbed in for Marcus Smart. Then for the Warriors, Draymond Green comes in for Trace Jackson Davis. And Curry subbed in for Jonathan Kaminga on the wing. Donic kicks it out to LeBron. [Applause] Releases and he buries that one. drilling the rim on the way down. James has got 27 points. He must have visualized this one because everything is falling now. Post pass to Butler. Shot by Heel. Nobody around. Good. And Butler gets the assist. Butler’s got his seventh assist of the game with that last one. Curry against Donic. In the corner, it’s James. Let’s go. And that’ll be the Lakers as it goes out of bounds. Lakers retain possession. Los Angeles making a switch here. Hayes has checked in. And the Warriors also making a change. Pajimski, he’s checked in for Quinton Post. Warriors on be. They’ve allowed just seven points here in the fourth quarter. Pass to LeBron and the basket is good. And he’s got a chance here for one more at the line. And nice touch from the inside. I I’m a fan of when LeBron just burrows his way inside and takes advantage. And a closer look here at the scoring breakdown for the Lakers. Well, I’ve been impressed with the ball movement all game long. They’re really looking to just make that extra pass. Another thing they’ve done really well in this game is their focus on the three-point shot. They’re doing a great job of spreading the floor and then hitting those perimeter shots. Tim, in your career, you’ve played at every level of basketball, pro and college and before. What’s the single biggest change in your mind as far as professional basketball outside the NBA? Well, Kevin, I think globally the level of play has just risen dramatically. There’s a much greater belief now that you can actually make it to the league, even if you’re playing outside this country. And then the G-League has created a much more streamlined path for those who want to work their way into the league. G-League has been terrific. Sure have. Excellent assist there. Just led him to the perfect spot. [Applause] And so it’s Donic with it. He brings it up for the Lakers. James left side. Curry against Donic. Just five on the clock. Pass to Vanderbilt. The offensive rebound. Donic. No good. Warriors trail by 21. Outside. Butler and stolen by Eaton. And now the fast break. Donic with the ball and James gets it to go on the assist by Donic. Donic has got nine assists in the game. Great passing. Warriors have gone six of nine on their field goal attempt since the start of the fourth quarter. Right side Butler misses the three. Lakers leading by 23. And passes to James. Payton up top. Bonjic outside pass to Vanderbilt, sinks the three-pointer. Well, taking full advantage of a defensive weakness there. And it certainly helps if you get shots that your guys can knock down. And here is Curry. Here’s Pajki. Golden State moving it around. And the Warriors miss again. LA’s gone two or five on three-point shots since the end of the third quarter. Now the Warriors moving it up. And a lot of contact on that one. So he’ll shoot two here. And just so crafty on the drive. Curry excels at getting the D to hit him in these situations. I’ve always admired the impact that Steph Curry, Tim, has made on this game and not only at this level, but at every level. With that in mind, do shooters train differently in part because of him. Yeah, I believe they do, Kevin. But you’ve got to beware. This is a guy that’s often imitated, rarely replicated. He is so special. But I think guys need to add escape dribbles, the sideep dribble, and certainly deep shooting off the dribble. That’s where Steph Curry has impacted the modern shooter. That’s good advice. Catching up on the changes for Los Angeles. Maxi Cleba. He’s checked in for DeAndre Aton. Dalton Connect comes in for Austin Reeds and it’s Gabe Vincent in for Luca Donuch. What you appreciate most about Curry is his confidence, especially when it comes to how far he can connect from. Vincent up top guarded by Curry. Back to Vanderbilt. Five on the clock. Pass to Cleba. A three ball. It’s rebounded by Curry. Curry’s got his fourth rebound with that last one here tonight. Three-pointer. He gets hauled in by Los Angeles. Clea’s got rebound number eight now on the night. Benson finds connect. Benson on the wing headed by Green. Benson with it. Back to connect that three off the mark. Golden State’s gotten some tough luck from three-point range in the fourth quarter. They’ve hit just one of six from deep. Hajimsky on the wing. They kick it out to Green. Golden State needs to get off a shot. Shot by Pajki. No good. The way Greg, they’re sharing the ball tonight. Mesmerizing. Everyone’s getting to touch it and and everyone’s contributing. Now here’s LeBron. And they double up James from past the ark. Warriors with the rebound. Here’s Pajki. Good. And Curry gets the assist. [Applause] Here’s Vincent. [Applause] There’s 159 left in the fourth quarter. Pass to LeBron. They need this one. Oh, what a slam. Clean that up. And what an explosive finisher LeBron is rocking the rim whenever he goes up like that. [Applause] We’ve got 148 left in the fourth quarter. Now Pajimski back to Curry. over Vincent and too long on the shot. And Los Angeles guys uh shooting only 35% in the fourth quarter. The offense looking a little rickety. Yes. And and with this one winding down, it’s obvious to everyone who watched it. Just a total mismatch and a true show of strength for the Lakers. It was a standout performance across the board. I mean, it was like watching a cat play with a mouse. They they were able to do more or less whatever they wanted. And you know, when you look at the huge impact he had, just a monster game for LeBron. Yeah, he was just laser focused in that game, it got to the point where you just knew if he shot it, it was going in. They are in complete control. This is the ultimate definition of the zone. Everything they’ve done has worked. Now here’s James. Draymond Green pulls it in. On offense here are the Warriors. Butler dishes to Curry. Pass to Pajki. [Applause] The shot by Butler. Nobody around. No good on the three. now Vincent. And so it’s the Lakers taking care of business here. And the outcome of this one was never in doubt. And boy, they really put in a supreme effort. It just felt like once they had that lead and it was comfortable, they were not going to relinquish it. While we’ve got a moment now, let’s go courtside to Ally Leforce. Ally, Luca, you played well tonight and your team got the win. Those two usually go together, but what else made the difference? Yeah, I think we had a we had a great game. You know, we had a I think it was a great game today. You know, we step up together, play good defense, and it was a great win. Team defense goes a long way. Thanks, Luca. As always, Ally, we appreciate it. And that about wraps it up for Tim Leggler, Greg Anthony, and Ally Leforce. I’m Kevin Harland. This is the NBA on 2K Sports. And as we leave you, we give you our player of the game, LeBron James.
