LIVE: Seahawks vs. Saints Postgame Show | 2025 NFL Week 3

tough game from start. We talked a lot about the environment there at Lumen Field, how difficult it is to play there, how you needed to take the crowd out of the game. But this one came down to an area we don’t talk about a lot and it was the special teams play by the Seahawks. Yep. It’s all three phases of the game and sometimes that bores people when you talk about playing complimentary football all three phases of the game, but a lot of times to win in the NFL, you need to win two of the three phases. But when you get kicks blocked and things like that and you give up points and field position, field position is the name of the game. In a in a league where the talent is so even and the coaching is so even, field position is at a premium in games like this. The second drive for the Seahawks, they didn’t even really have to start it because it was a 95 yard punt return for a touchdown to make things 14-0. Then they blocked the immediate next punt for New Orleans, ending up on the 11 that led to another touchdown as well. So it was 21-0 after the first quarter of play. That’s really hard hole for a team to dig out of. It really is because what you all week long you game plan a certain way for the game to play out and you saw coach more early in the game going for it on fourth down on the first drive. Very aggressive at the 50 yard line. Then he came back the next drive and he was going to go for it on fourth down again on on the tush push on the on the false start penalty. And that was another thing that crept up today is the penalties. The penalties and the special teams. You take all that hidden yardage and field position and that’s how you get down 21 nothing. And that’s tough to overcome because like I was saying earlier that changes the entire game plan for everybody. Now you’re in a throwing mode, throwing much more than you want to the entire game. It ends up being 11 penalties for 77 yards that the Saints had for the the whole game. And again, it was the ones where they’re disciplined penalties. I didn’t hate the fact that Justin Reed got called for a false start because he was trying to be aggressive in blocking a field goal. That happened later in the game and and they were trying to make some plays so they could get back in the game. some game-changing plays, but it’s the penalties early on in the game that were the false starts, the um conduct penalty for Brian Brazie on the the first drive. Yeah, that was a killer. I mean, that that led to immediate points. Again, it was field position, put him right into position, they score the next play, a touchdown, and giving up chunk plays like that. You you don’t want penalties, and I’ve said this before, coaches can live with the the in between the line penalties. just two guys going aggressive being challenging one another in football. It’s the pre- snap penalties that just absolutely drive coaches crazy cuz to like you just said those are discipline penalties. Those are paying attention and those are not letting the external noises affect you, not letting that crowd affect you. You have to hone in and just you have to block it all out. You have to block out the white noise just like you’re in the indoor in practice. And this was the first environment they’ve been in, you know, like this all year long. And I think coach and and this team would have liked to perform better in that type of environment. A lot of times the coach wants to see how the team finishes after a start like this. At the half it was 38-6. You come out of the game 4413. So obviously the second half they were able to hold the Seahawks to just six points. And Spencer Rattler had a really nice touchdown throw to Jack Stole who just got elevated to the active roster. Rattler was on the run. He was looking for an option and he found stole in the very corner of the end zone. So that is a good moment in this game. Yeah. Yeah. I Nobody wants to be where they are right now. But I think the one thing you take away from this and if you’re Spencer Rattler, um, anybody watching it’s not Spencer. You know, Spencer’s play played some good football and every single week he continues to do things and you watch him play and you say, “This guy can be a quarterback in this league.” So he’s doing he’s doing those things and early in this game you get down on the road early in a hostile environment and right then and there you say all right number two that’s going to be on your shoulders you’re going to have to throw the ball a lot more and I I think for what Seattle was doing when they got up 21 nothing they play a lot of too deep safety we’re going to make you check it down so from that standpoint people are going to get on Spencer not throwing the ball down the field that’s how the game evolved because you were down 21 nothing I thought I think he’s doing a great job of managing the offense doing exactly what coach Moore wants him to do in this offensive scheme it’s just today because the game started the way it did via set special teams and penalties. Spencer had to be much more conservative and check the ball down quite a bit. Tyler Shuck did come in at the end of the game, but at that point the game was out of hand and I think they were trying to save players and from injury because we saw a couple other players come in in as well. Cornerback Quincy Riley came in. He finished the game on the outside corner. Uh there are a couple other players on and Quincy Quincy did a nice job. Quincy got a lot of reps today. Forced the fumble at the end of the game. And those are things in games like this, they only count as one loss. You don’t ever really want to lose games like this. You want them to be closer. But in the advantage is you get you get your quarterback some play time. You get your young quarterback some play time. So those are some advantages of being in a situation like that. When you look back on this game, what do you say to your team or as a player? What’s your response? My response would be it only counts as one. As bad as it looks, everybody’s going to say the season’s over from the outside noise. You have to block out the outside noise. You’re going to Buffalo. You’re playing Josh Allen, defending MVP. The the the world, the the sky is going to be falling the the entire week. It’s about blocking out the noise, taking it one game at a time. You can’t get three games back in one week. Just put your head down, trust the process. And I think that’s what Coach Moore is going to preach for the team more than anything and all the coaches. Coach Staley, believe in what we’re doing. These are two coaches who have just won Super Bowls. They have Super Bowl rings. They know what they’re doing. Don’t panic. You’ve lost. you’ve lost more games than you wanted to and this one certainly didn’t go the way you wanted, but just trust the process and believe in what you’re doing. How about the defensive game plan in this one? Because I know they were worried about a lot of the weapons on the Seahawks staff or um on their roster. They do that wide zone scheme a lot and it seemed like we were getting beat inside the numbers a lot. Yeah, I think I think the one thing we probably didn’t give enough credit is coach Kubiaak Kubak being here and understanding defensively the personnel that he was facing. He saw all these guys in practice for a year, but also he’s he’s used to coach daily as well because they were in the NFC West together. So, there’s familiarity there with knowing how to to attack. And to be honest, as an offensive play caller, my playbook grows like this when you’re up 21 nothing. You can call, you know, pretty much anything. So, you saw him being aggressive. you saw him taking shots and it’s a point in the game for Kubak to say, “Hey, let’s open the playbook up because, you know, we’re up 21 nothing.” I think that’s part of the aggressiveness. I don’t know if he would have been that aggressive had the game been closer early on. Speaking of the aggressiveness, you mentioned it earlier with head coach Kellen Moore. He went for it early a couple times, two fourth down attempts, both unsuccessful. one because of the penalty that I think ended up helping them because I don’t know if Spencer Ratler made it the two yards to convert on that fourth down and then they end up kicking the the punt which turned into a touchdown anyways for the other team. So, it wasn’t a great few snaps there, but do you like his aggressiveness being on the road in that type of environment? I think the attempt was to get out early. Yes, because I the one thing a team will follow the personality of their head coach. If you say all week we’re going to be aggressive, then you have to prove it. You know, yeah, you have to do the things that you’re saying you’re going to do all week. Early on the game, I liked it. I like you’re you’re on the other side of the 50. What are you going to do? Punt the yard punt the ball and maybe gain 20 yards. He was super aggressive. The other one I did sweat a little bit when he was going for it on the second on the second series for sure. Yeah. All right. Well, let’s hear from head coach Kell Moore after this game. Didn’t do enough. Uh we didn’t do enough to uh give ourselves a chance. uh you know, we got to be prepared more. Uh starts with me. We got to give oursel an opportunity to uh compete in these games. And so, uh you know, too many penalties, too many uh missed opportunities, uh big special teams plays early in this game that that uh you know, put us behind it. And uh I appreciate our guys’ battle through the second half. They didn’t quit. Uh I do appreciate that. Uh but this is going to be very powerful lesson for our guys on on adversity and how we respond and uh you know, simply we can’t start the football game like that with uh the sequence that we had and uh put ourselves in a really poor situation. So, why do you think this team looks so unprepared to start this game? Uh, it starts with me. Uh, obviously we we didn’t do good enough. Uh, we missed a fourth down u opportunity there. Uh, penalty when we got him stopped to kick a field goal. We got a really 100% controlled penalty. Uh, dumb penalty on our part. And then they had three big uh special teams plays in a row. And so, u, you know, we we got to do a better job of putting ourselves in better situations. What’s sort of your message to the team after a loss like this? You talked about adversity, but how do you kind of keep them Yeah. Yeah. I think that’s what’s that’s what it’s about. It’s a test of adversity. Uh it’s how you respond. Um you have to narrow your focus, look at the items that are good and and certainly recognize those. But, uh again, we did not do enough uh to start the game to put oursel in a really good position to be competitive there. And so, uh you know, there there’s no one’s going to feel bad for you. No one’s going to uh come come save you or anything. We got to put in a bunch of work and we got to get better right now and uh put ourselves in better position moving forward. How would you describe this team’s discipline right now? Yeah, we’re we’re we’re not clean enough. Uh we’re not clean enough. Uh too many penalties again uh and too many of them they’re under our control. You know, there’s judgment penalties in every single game. But uh the ones that we can control, uh we can’t have that. We got to do a better job. You mentioned those three special teams plays in a row. Like what did you see that was was going wrong against one special team? Yeah. Yeah, that’s a great question. I think uh obviously they took advantage of a couple opportunities. Um you know they they had a really good design on kick return, the punt block. Um you know we got to be better there. Uh the punt return again they they made a play and so uh we got to do a better job there certainly and uh you know that’s that’ll be something for us to certainly spend a lot of time this week uh getting better. Is that a punt return touchdown just a matter of like kind of out kicking the coverage on that or? It’s a great question. I I’ll have to look at it more more closely, but uh you know certainly you know yeah you can kick it deep but you know we we still got an opportunity to to uh you know get that one down and get oursel get oursel back in position when I mean in your history when penalties like that and slow starts like that have become a consistent theme. How how can coaching overcome that or or where can you pinpoint that? Yeah. Yeah. We got to do a great I think we got to do a great job of studying this. Uh we got, you know, there’s no throw this throw this film away and just move on. This is a 100% we have to evaluate every little item that happened today uh and get better from it. Uh again, we we did not put oursel in a good enough position to start the game. Uh starts with me and uh we got to find find the solution. Um obviously nitpicking with the scoreboard the way it was, but but how come the decisions to go for the field goal in the first half still and both the times? Yeah, just take take points at that point. I mean, we just got to get some momentum going our way. Uh, and so, obviously, we knew there was it was an uphill battle from at that point. And, um, you know, we’re we’re going to have to be really perfect to have any chance moving forward. And so, uh, yeah. So, I mean, the one before halftime in particular when when you’re on the 5 yard line. I mean, is it because you felt like a field goal could help you? Yeah, I felt like we just need to get we need to earn some points out of that drive. Um, you know, and we get we got some points and we’ll we’ll see if we can stop him and get oursel at least in a position where, you know, you got to play the game perfect to have a chance. But uh you know um we just need to get something going. Along that note, I know we’ve asked you about Blake Ruby before. Like are you concerned about him? I know that was a long field goal. Yeah, it was a longer one obviously. Yeah, we we got to find a way. Um we just got to keep getting better and uh that’s all we can do. It’s heat of the moment of course coming right out of the game, but how do you go about establishing sort of the accountability when it comes to repeated issues like penalties and things like that? Yeah. Yeah. I think it’s something we have to spend a lot of time acknowledge u talk through and obviously understand if someone can’t can’t play that way then obviously we got we got to find the guys who can but I have all the confidence in the world these guys these guys will respond the right way this this going to be really really valuable lesson for us today it’s going to be really valuable lesson our guys going to learn from this um it doesn’t feel good at all but again no one’s going to come help you uh we got to dig in together and and find the solutions and how do you go about uh road that you’re going to navigate that gets you become a better player and put yourself in better position next week. Anything strike you about maybe what you need to do differently going forward in terms of preparation? Yeah, obviously it’s something we we’ll have to study. Uh obviously we’re not, you know, we we did not play up to our standard today at all and that’s on me. So I find where what parts that we can improve on, get better at, and uh we’ll we’ll find it. Obviously, it’s something we’ll have to study. Obviously, we’re not, you know, we we did not play up to our standards today at all. And you guys are playing are battling the right way. Uh you know, I don’t take that for granted. I think our guys are competing each and every play. Uh certainly that second half, our guys were still going for it. Uh which I certainly appreciate. Um you know, we got to knock down the hard situations and and there’s, you know, competitive situations. Again, we always talk about there’s big plays that change games and they can happen in any any of the four quarters. And so, uh, you know, whether it’s the beginning of the game, towards the end, uh, we just got to find a way to be more consistent. I know it’s easier said than done to, you know, suggest getting the ball downfield more, but I mean, these 10, 12, 14 play drives when things are going well. Is is that by design and how you want to play these games or are you not getting the opportunity to Yeah, I think at the end of day, it’s really hard when you put yourself behind like that. um you know, they they can sit there and play on top of everything. They got they’re they’re up by 28 plus points or whatever it is. And so, uh they’re they’re going to make you earn it. They’re going to make you go the long way. Um we do have to find a way to get downfield more often. That’s certainly the goal and the aspiration, but uh we got to put ourselves in positions to actually be able to accomplish that. What are your thoughts on Yeah, I thought Spence played fine. I I thought he he gave us some opportunities. He he he did some good things. Um, you know, we just got in too many obvious pass situations and we weren’t able to get the explosive plays and I got I got to find a way to put him and help him be in better positions. Despite the loss, what does it mean to you coming back to your home state being the head coach of the New Orleans Saints? Yeah, obviously uh I think a lot of us, we all have different experiences in this NFL. Uh we all have hometowns and different spots. And so, uh obviously, you know, I appreciate my time here. Uh, you know, I do, uh, love this place, but, uh, you know, it’s, uh, far from my thoughts right now to be honest. Both times you guys have tried the tush push this year, you guys have been penalized. I mean, is that overstating things to make a direct correlation between how much you practice it versus how it looks? Yeah. Yeah. Right now we’re 0 for two. Um, and we’ve invested a lot of time in it and we’re 0 for two and so obviously we got to get better there. Um, Quincy Riley seemed like he entered the game even before a lot of backups started entering the game. Was that something you came in this game. Yeah, he played a little bit more. Yeah, we kind of anticipate that being the formula. Play him a little bit more. Just get him a little bit more in the rotation and we’ll just kind of see how that all that progresses. Was healthy at that time? Yes, I believe so. Yeah. Just for the sake of avoiding any assumptions, the decision to go to Tyler Shuck. Can you tell us a little bit about Yeah, I mean I I just want to get as many of those young guys in and give them give them a couple snaps in the game at that point. Obviously, it was weren’t going to win the football game. uh try and get Tyler a few reps uh you know in a situation you know you have this kind of start to the season is it too early to start considering personnel changes um do you you look at that already no our our our job is to get better right now and and just get get better and put oursel in a really good position to be successful and so we’re not there yet. Uh we’re 0 for three so far. doesn’t doesn’t feel good for anyone, but um you know, we got opportunities ahead of oursel and we got a group of guys that need to look forward and they will look forward and get better this week and and uh go for it next week. Do you think that challenging environment here played a factor in your first road here? You know, obviously we had we had a couple penalties on the offensive line with the pre- snap. Uh those again under our control. We got to do a better job there. Um but again, yeah, we got we got behind it. We got behind in a tough environment too early and that’s a that’s a challenging formula in this league. Was Trevor like an emergency option today? Yeah, a little bit. Yeah, he was he’s just getting back into it and so he he had a great week and so we’ll see how it progresses this week again. You said a couple of times here today that starts this whole thing starts with you. So what are what’s kind of like the first thing that comes to mind for you that stands out as like I want to do that better. I want to improve this whatever that Yeah, obviously we we got to be prepared and put oursel in the best position to be successful. We got to eliminate all the silly things. Um, you know, uh, we need our guys to just play fast, free, and confident. And we got to get there. And, um, again, we got to find the formula. We got to look into this film really, really closely. And, uh, you know, hold each other accountable. Um, starts with me again. And, uh, we’ll find a solution. Thanks. Um, yeah, it’s tough. I mean, you know, you blink and the scores like that, it’s tough to dig out of that hole. thought we second half we fought but again you know self-inflicted wounds on all sides of the ball um early on and can’t do that with an offense like that. They’re they’re explosive. They had a lot of explosive plays um especially on special teams as well. So um you know tough to get in that hole and and dig out of it. What do you think contributed to all the penalties that we saw today? Um we just had to be more dialed in. I mean we knew it was going to be loud. It was a loud environment, tough environment. Um, but I mean, we had we had those opportunities, we had the looks, and we just shot ourselves in the foot with pre- snap penalties and then a couple post snap penalties as well. So, um, we’re going to have to harp on that all week again because we got another, you know, tough road game. So, uh, we get we have to clean that up or, you know, it’s going to be tough to win games if we can’t clean that up. What do you make of just kind of the lack of explosives um, so far through weeks? I was talking you get a big hole like that, it makes it a little bit tougher because they sit off over the top. But Mhm. Yeah. I mean, just like you said, when you get in a hole like that, they know the game plan after that. We’re going to have to be aggressive. I tried to throw a few shots down the field when we’re down three scores and try to make something happen. Um, you know, didn’t connect on those, but, you know, we try to dial some stuff up and obviously they’re going to play a little softer knowing we’re down three, four scores. So, um, don’t want to be in that spot to begin with. Um, we had a good shot dialed up for the perfect look and I think we had a a pre- snap penalty on that one as well early in the game. So, it’s the details, the details, the details. That’s all it is. What’s the team’s morale like? Like, how how do you feel like you and your teammates are handling that 03 start? Um, it’s not fun, you know, but like the guys say, the vets say, you can’t ride the roller coaster of emotions. Like, we have to have a neutral thought. It’s a long season. Um, you know, you see what’s happened. We just got to be better. like we have to be better on all sides of the ball. Um had to be urgent about it and we got to we just have to do it. Is there any like consistent threat with the two false starts and the two tries in the tush push? Say it one more time. Like that you you guys have tried the tush push twice this year and both times had a false start. Is there is there like something similar happen on both plays or is it just like a a play? I mean we just have to be more dialed in on that play. We know what we’re trying to do. Defense knows what we’re trying to do. We got to out execute them and not get a false start on that. You know, on the uh Portland looked like you were trying to maybe direct traffic downfield. What were you trying to do? I mean, you got to make a play. Um we have to work on scramble drills. Um we got to work on that throughout the week and you know, I’m going to harp on that as well, but you know, fourth down, end of the game, got to make a play. Um you know, we just all got to be on the same page. Was this team ready to play today? I mean, it just seemed like from the beginning you all were behind the eight-ball almost every phase. Yeah, I mean, you feel good coming into a game. I mean, we felt great coming into this game. We had a great week. Um, but you got to go out there and do it, you know, and and obviously we knew it was going to be a tough environment. Um, they started really fast. We had really bad self-inflicted wounds on all three phases. And you do that in this league with a good offense like that and um, it’s going to be tough to come back from, you know. So, I think that was the name of the game today and we just got to clean up. Is there any crisis of confidence right now in the locker room at all? Um, I wouldn’t say so. No, I mean, we we know what we got to get better at and we had to we had to do it with urgency. It’s a long year. Um, we have to get better now, you know, cuz it’s not going to get any easier and um we just got to put better stuff on tape and go out there and play the ball we know we can play. All right. Thank you. So, how you feel after a game like that? What’s the what’s the vibe like in the locker room? Uh I feel terrible after any loss a game like that. You look up six minutes in, you’re already down 21. It’s you get you get chin checked. Um you could say, “Yeah, we responded in the second half. Sure, we we put up points. Yeah, the defense had a couple three outs, but that’s just it. We barely even got to third down.” Sometimes it’s those self-inflicted wounds um on offense that impeded drives and on defense that gave up some plays that you just, you know, we automatically want to get to the film as fast as you can. Did you feel that um there were some moments that were close to getting sort of a fast start on the defensive side, a near sack and a third down penalty? Do you feel like that was particularly detrimental or was Yeah. um combination, you know, you figure um you know, Brian Brian almost had Brian Maz almost had a sack right there. That would have been great. Uh but we got to find find a way to get off third down. Um they complete and then after that there’s some erroneous penalty that gets them closer to the goal line. You got to at this point we How many penalties do we have in the first quarter? I’m going say seven, eight. The self-inflicted wounds, man. Like we we’re we’re not a good enough team to overcome those right now. And at the point of time, it it clearly shows every game. These these penalties have hurt us. Um, we got to figure out a way to clean those up. And at the same time, there’s still positives. I mean, you said you saw young Quincy Coug get in the game, forced a fumble. Um, I think Pete Warner played his butt off. He was sideline to sideline. Seemed like he was on almost every tackle. Um, there was there’s some positives that that I can just recall during the game. Uh but at the same time when you look up and it’s 40 something to 13, what does it matter? We got to figure out how to win. What would you say was sort of the through line for you mentioned the penalties and the selfis would you say is kind of through line for the penalties that you’ve seen so far this season, not just in this game? Yeah, I’ll say that clearly it’s been a tale of of all three games. We start start doing something positive offense penalty. We start doing something positive on defense penalty that gives energy away instead of creates energy for. We got to create we got to start creating our energy for our team and stop creating something just to give it right back. And I mean these are things that we can control, right? Um you got to be, you know, at this at this point teams look at us as we’re undisiplined because if you’re in top three most penalized teams, that’s just the moniker they give you. We have to be able to be be better from that point. And I mean the penalties especially on like third downs after you get frustrating. I mean, it’s like frustrating. I think you had two of them last week, too. And um was that something that y’all had focus on? Absolutely. Nobody Nobody like, “Oh, we only had eight penalties this game. We’re good.” No. No. Absolutely not. This is something that we we we’re definitely focused on. Kellen has done a great job of throwing it up on the board and addressing, hey, these are things that we have to be not only aware of, conscious of, but have to correct. Um, at the end of the day, it’s it’s got to be on on the entire team to get this far behind us as fast as possible. I think, you know, but had a I don’t try this name out loud. Tory Celli Simkins came in um and, you know, inserted himself as a rookie and I think he did okay. You know, I’d like to say he did great, but 1344, nobody did great. Um, just the the name of the game is you have to find a way to get better. a game like this, Cam. I mean, coach coach said this would be a film that you don’t just throw away that you all need to look at. Absolutely. Yeah. Um can’t wait to get on on on the plane and break down this film. This is this is something that has to be uh immediately broken down. Um because there’s clearly some something glaring that we were missed. Um was only pressured for five dropbacks today. Like what would you How many drop backs did he actually have by the time he did a drop back? what was the score? I mean, we’re if all he’s worried about is quick releases, we’re we’re trying to get back in the game somehow some way. Um, you know, I wish I wish we could say, “Hey, we knew he was going to have a quick release.” We we we planned on that and at the same time, you know, he had a couple with the first series we gifted to their offense. Second series was a bomb. You know, like this something we have to overcome ASAP. You mentioned starting to break down the film on the play and everything like that. Obviously, you’re paying attention to sort of the the individual things about improvement, but what’s kind of your role in helping the entire defense? Oh, man. Um, yeah. I mean, it’s it’s it’s got to be on it’s got to be on us, right? It’s got to be on guys who have seen this before. I mean, we’ve definitely been able to correct penalties before, and I assume it’s going to be on the leaders of the team to to have this talk and get it done now. um by Monday we got to be able to say this is where we’re at and then if we keep going this way, this is where we’re going to finish up. Um the reality is at this point we’re already at a juncture where we have to be as critical as we can be right now. She mentioned that it even needs to be better at practice when it comes to like discipline and things of that nature. Is this something that you notice during the week potentially where like it can um hurt you in a game? Yeah, I think I think there’s a reason why, you know, our coaching staff brought in referees this entire this entire week of practice, right? Um and at the same time, uh come game tape if we still had how many penalties. So, um I’m sure that’ll be readressed. Uh and it’s again, it’s got to be on the players to to know where we’re at, know the cadence, know how to, you know, whatever that is, the holding, what whatever whatever penalties that came up. Um yeah, three games in you say, “Hey, we could have had a starting drive if ifs don’t don’t help you win in this league.” You know, our defense could have had a three and out if if it’s not going to help you win. And when you come back for a 15th season and the team starts this way, 03 like how do you handle that frustration of, you know, just like I did year two pissed off. There’s this, you know, beyond just the years being here, it’s knowing that there’s a right way to play football. There’s a right way to hold people accountable and you have to be able to match that standard. Is it are you more pissed off so to say in year 15 just knowing you know there’s not that many years left to of course where you want to go. Yeah. Each each down but I mean each down each game I’ve always played like it’s going to be my last. So my mentality has never been able to shift because that’s how I’ve always played. If today ended and I had to walk away from football where would I be? I’d know that I gave everything my all. So year one to year 15 same mentality. Each one of these hurts the most because it’s the most clearing right now. We just got off football field where I felt like had we been able to execute our game plan, we could have been in a better position. And at the same time, you look around and you say, “Hey, we were down with however many points in the first seven minutes.” We have to be able to rely on our defense to get us back in the game. We didn’t create a turnover till the second half. We have to be able to create turnovers. We have to, you know, up until what, let’s just call it the halftime, how many runs did they actually have? You know, what did they run for? 15 yards. You know, we have to be able to control what we can’t control. If there’s drop backs there that we need to be have more pressures on, leave it on Dline. We’ll get better by next week. If Sorry, go ahead. Finish. Just to clarify something that you were talking about earlier with officials in practice. Were there officials in practice this week leading up to this game? Indeed. At least in New Orleans. Yeah. Let’s try to look that up. Eight. Got it. Yeah. That’s not something to hold your head on when again the score is not reflective of but that’s something that you say hey this is what the standard should be this something you address you mentioned the playing right home I mean will you all actually as leaders of the team maybe even have you ever known to be quiet I don’t know if you know who I am so yeah that urgency even of course I mean when you have when you have a loss like this and it’s still early in the season there’s still 14 games left. There’s enough time to say, “Hey, this is like we understand that we’ve done some good things, shown some good things, but there’s so much time right now to be like, hey, it may look like it, but this is imperative now. You know, this is what we have to we have to be able to to turn towards.” Um, that starts with me talking to Dline, Double D, talking to linebackers, Jay Reed, talking to safe to DBs. Um, if we have to address everybody, great. It’s all right. Our DBs and our linebackers and our Dline have been able to have open line of communication since training camp. If they got something to say, it’s always it’s always open door. Cool. That was head coach Kellen Moore, quarterback Spencer Rattler, and defensive end, even though now he’s kind of uh linebacker linebacker linebacker Cam Jordan talking after the 4413 loss in Seattle. And I think the overwhelming theme here is accountability across the board, especially when it comes to those penalties. You start a season 0 and three. You can look back at several different areas, different plays that didn’t go your way, but the one theme has been the penalties, the ones especially that have hurt them in key situations. Yeah. And that’s been frustrating. You heard Cam talk about, you know, there’s a reason we’re bringing officials into practice because we’re trying to correct that during the weeks when we get in this environment. The one thing you can’t simulate, you can bring out all the officials you want. You can’t simulate the 12th man at Seattle. You can’t simulate that crowd noise. I mean, you can turn up the noise, but it’s about and there’s a lot of young players. There’s a lot of young players being put into these positions for the first time. And the only way you can you can change these things is about practice habits. And it sounds kind of boring, but it’s about practicing 100 miles an hour. Making the making practice just like it is in a game. So when you get out there, these moments aren’t not too big for you, but you’re not antsy to get out of your stance if you’re an offensive tackle. You’re not antsy to get out of your stance if you’re a wide receiver. Practice 100 miles an hour during the week. So the game is just like you were doing Monday through Friday. Next up is Buffalo in Buffalo. So after going through an environment like this in Seattle, Buffalo also has crazy fans. So does it help you at least having gone through it this week? Yes. No question. I think it’s about the experience going to Seattle. Like I said, a lot of young guys in that situation still growing as players. Now you’ve done it. It’s about learning from those experiences and and overcoming it because all week long now your challenge is going to be listening to the outside noise and blocking out the outside noise, playing the defending MVP, playing a team that a lot of people think are going to win the Super Bowl or be the AFC representative. So, it’s about blocking out that noise and worrying about one play at a time. And if you get down early in that game, it’s not going to be just like it was at Seattle. It doesn’t have to be the same over and over again. You play one play at a time and you don’t worry about the bad plays. You don’t worry about what you just did for the good plays. And it’s really as simple as that. And it just comes down to controlling your mind and blocking out all that white noise. Yeah. I mean, and that’s what’s gonna happen with the penalties, too, is making sure that you are disciplined in everything that you’re doing. Everyone is on the same page. The communication has to be at a high level from this game overall. Other than the penalties that we mentioned, the environment, what is something that you would really like to see them improve on this next week? I think well, defensively, more takeaways. They cause a takeaway late in the game, but I think that’s going to set up your your chances of success on the offense side of the ball. Spencer still a young player, a lot of young guys still on that side of the ball. You’ve been banged up on the offensive line. Defense can really help the offense by taking the football away more. And I’m sure they’re focusing on that in practice, working on strip drills and and ball tip drills and all those types of things. But it starts, you can really help out your offense by taking the football away, giving them more opportunities to score. I think that’s going to that will probably be the number one factor in going on the road and playing a really good Buffalo team is defensively taking that football away from Josh Allen and giving Spencer and the offense more opportunities. Trevor Penning was active in this game. Although he did not play in the game, he was active for the game. He’s still dealing with the toe injury, but he was practicing in limited fashion this week. Seems like he’ll be back on the field next week. So, even though Toriselli Simpkins did do a great job there in his place, have him back on the line. And then Talia Seuaga hopefully also back for this one. So Awesome Richards who filled in for him would rotate out. Um that would be the first time this season we’d see the starting line. How much of a factor would that be? It it’s a huge factor. I mean there’s been a lot of draft capital put in the offensive line. This team’s been built from the inside out. Offensive line and defensive line when you look at draft picks. So of course you want those guys all together. You want that chemistry to start to build with those guys playing together. And then you can start to see kind of the identity this offense wants to have once all those guys are healthy as an offensive play caller when you’re shuffling guys around on the offensive line. You’re trying to protect them a little bit. You’re trying to do things that normally you wouldn’t do. You get that group of five up there lined up together hopefully pretty much healthy for for these next few games. And now you can start to you can start to collect on that and see your true identity offensively what you want to how you want to attack teams. All right. So we got some things to work on this week, Scott, but we are going to be back at it next week in Buffalo. Thank you so much for joining us for the Saints postgame show brought to you by Uber Eats. 1. You are crazy if you think Rattler can be a solid QB. He's the problem. He can't push the ball down the field he has no vision and can't go thru his reads at all. At one point olave had like 8 catches for 40 yards. That is pathetic. They run underneath routes so much Bec they know that's all he can complete. He's not the answer. You don't lose 10 in a row if you have potential

  2. When do you give up on the winless 5th rounder. 28 completions barely 200 yards for the guy you picked at 40 overall? This coach is trash and Im not the only one who thinks that
