The Minnesota wild ALREADY look TERRIFYING…
The Minnesota Wild are already looking terrifying with an absolute whopping of the St. Louis Blues with all of their stars showing up. Boldley with three points, Capri off with three points, the top line looking insane. Ryan Hartman even scoring a couple of beautiful goals, but Philip Gustiffson, the Gusb putting the cherry on top of this unbelievable performance. We got to break it all down coming up on this episode of Hatrick HQ. Casey, let’s get right into it. Start with it. There’s a reason Gusbust is right there in the graphic in the five nothing win. I know there’s a lot of players we can talk about today and we’ll get into a lot of them, but just in general, how you feeling after this first win of the season? I think, you know, there was a lot of questions, especially with the Capri soft contract and even the Rossi contract this off season with all of that done and behind them, the Wild put on an absolute show and fans like myself are absolutely thrilled with it. Yeah, and this was on the road, too. I mean, they blew out the St. Louis Blues in their own burn with a five nothing victory. This is huge for the Minnesota Wad. Like you said, there was a lot of criticism fallen onto this team for giving Capri off $17 million per year in his extension, but it’s looking to be proven right in this. But just diving into this game, we’ve seen a 31-year-old Ryan Hartman put up two goals playing on the third line, which you absolutely love to see. And also a lot of big guys as well like uh Rossi and Baldi all putting points up, goals up as well. Eric Zk with a power play goal. Capri off with three assists. But first before we dive into Capri off, we talk about him. I want to get into Ryan Hartman a little bit. We see coach Hines uh right after the game saying his puck decisions and puck play were on point tonight. and Josh were they ever. That first goal he scored where he chipped it over the defenseman stick kind of went forehand, backhand, forehand between the goalies five hole was absolutely disgusting. You love to see this kind of resurgence from this player at the beginning of the year. Yeah, I mean look, Ryan Hartman has played up and down the Minnesota Wild lineup for the last few years, right? He’s had some time even up on the first line, sometimes second, sometimes third, but he’s been pretty consistent. You know, when he signed that extension a little while ago, some fans were like, “Yeah, it’ll probably be good.” just part of this group of extensions, the Wild sign. But no, Hartman, I mean, he looks great. Again, just a beautiful little goal and he’s always had the skill. Also, really good on the faceoff dot tonight as well. Like, that was a big thing from Ryan Hartman. you know, when you’re getting that production from your bottom six and a bottom six that looks good and even this Wild team still has some injuries like Nico Sturm’s out Hunter Hate making his season debut, but like Hartman to be able to have that level of talent there in your bottom six is really solid, especially if he shows up in a game like this, which he did 10 of 14 on the dot with two goals. Like, how could you ask for anything more from a guy in his position, right? So, extremely thrilled with Ryan Hartman. And I wanted to mention Erikson Knight, too, just brief the KC because I know last year was a bit of a weird one. He missed some time and he had some pretty rough stretches, but to get him off and started hot I think is important for the Wild as well because you know when he’s going I mean maybe just spend just a second here to praise him because when Erikson is going this it just makes this team completely different as well and again as a second line center I mean I think he can be very effective power play penalty kill if he is rolling this team is so much better. Yeah, I definitely think he’s one of the most underrated forwards in the league at least in my opinion. I feel like he’s always contributing on the stat sheet, off the stat sheet, and he doesn’t get talked about a lot. And I think this year, hopefully, knock on wood, if he can stay healthy, is going to be a big year for Ericson, cuz I really do like this player. And I think he has a lot uh in store for the future, especially as a Minnesota Wild. But we’re going to jump into a little bit of more of the advanced analytics from last night’s game. And as we see Matt Baldy topping the charts there last night uh with I believe it was one goal, two assists last night for three points just over a four game score. But I want to toss it to you here u Josh because do you see your check and bean near the top in advanced analytics for this team last night. Yeah, this is a great thing right like the depth on this team has been so good and it showed out against St. Louis like everything was clicking minus now there was a stretch where I think St. Louis had what 18 straight shots. It was like an 18 to nothing shot run. Gustoson saved all of them and the Wild immediately went on the power play and scored. But overall, like Minnesota, yeah, despite that stretch, which I’m sure we’re going to see again, it’s been a common theme over the past few years, but overall, the team just clicked. Again, that top line. I I got to also just point out I will get to be Gojian and Urich, but I’m so thrilled to see Baldi, Capri off, and Rossi, right? That top line. Rosie on that $5 million deal. The Wild didn’t believe in him. whatever putting on a show those guys with crazy high game scores but again it’s the depth on the defense and case we can even bring up the lines to just to just show like what we’re looking at here with this team because again we mentioned that bottom six Felino play some second line minutes as well look there’s going to be some changes here within this lineup I imagine Capri Rosie Baldi is going to stay but again like eventually we’ll see probably sneak in and when Nikico Sturm is back healthy from his injury six to eight weeks he’ll be back but we got Hunter height for now but like there’s so many guys in this lineup that are good but even the decor right is really really interesting with some young talent and this is also a decor without Yonis Broaddin right now right Middleton and Vabber there Buham and Spurgeon but Gojan and Yurichek that third pairing was the best analytically on the team and so in game one I don’t think you could have asked for more Casey when we’re talking about top end scoring of Capri off looking absolutely nasty with Baldi and Rossi the power play was clicking and the depth guys again Hartman on the third line two goals and Bgoan being your two best defenseman in terms of game score. That combination of high-end scoring, depth production, and insane goalending from Philip Gustoson posting a crazy shut out. Like, I don’t know what else you could have asked for in this game other than again maybe that 18 to nothing shot stretch where maybe we could have had a bit more offense. But like I I I don’t know. I am absolutely thrilled pretty much with every aspect of what we saw. And it’s why I really believe like this is what makes a dangerous team, right? The combination of those three things. I don’t think you could ask for more. Yeah. I mean, this was a great game for the Minnesota Wild. I think this is a kind of for the WWE fans out there like Bray White saying we’re here, you know, we’re here. We’re putting the NHL on notice by coming in beating the Blues, a team that were really good last year and being at home at their home arena, shutting them out five to nothing with the top line saying we are worth the money. We are worth the price of a mission. This is huge for the Minnesota Wild. I think this the momentum they’re going to get off of this is going to be ridiculous. I think going into I believe Saturday or to tonight’s game against or against the or tomorrow night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. Get my days mixed up here. I think it’s going to be huge home opener. I think it’s going to be another big win for the Minnesota Wild. But before we close out the video here, Josh, I do want to touch on Cap Capri off again because he did also extend his opening night point streak to uh six games, which would be six years in a row. He’s opened the season with a point putting it at nine points on opening night games. And he also had three points last night uh which uh has now he recorded a multi-point game in his last five against the Blues and he extends the point streak which is the longest in Minnesota Wild history. I mean there’s been a lot of criticism around this player. There’s no doubt about it that Capri off is one of the best players in the league. A lot of people said maybe he’s not worth the $7 million extension, but from what we’ve seen last night, from what we’ve seen during his entire stint as a Minnesota Wild, I think this player is worth every every penny. Yeah. You know what? Just roll the highlights again because Carell Capriov, look, he’s not even making 17 million until next year. For this year, this line is going to be an absolute bargain. You got Rossi and Baldi making 12 million combined and Capriov under 10 right now. And even next year and for many years to come, well, it depends how Rossy signs after his little three-year contract. This for now, for the next couple years, is going to be a $29 million line. Is it expensive? Yes, it absolutely is expensive. Is it going to be one of the most expensive in the NHL? Probably. But again, the production is just showing you that it’s absolutely worth it. And Capri off again, he hates the Blues. He scores so much so many points against the St. Louis Blues. And it’s exactly what you want. A rival, the Central Division is going to be up for grabs. and these early games, the first one of the season against one of your key rivals in a division that is going to be highly competitive with a lot of good teams, the Jets, the Stars, the Avalanche, you need to get off to a hot start. You need to have these tiebreers and to have your stars show up in this way, especially with Capriov, especially with all the pressure on him now. Fans from other teams after we saw these extensions of Kyle Connor and Conor McDavid and so many other ones that are coming in less than we thought it would. Even Ike, right? GabriV is making a lot of money, but he’s showing Minnesota Wild fans why he’s worth it. And we’re so excited. They’re already looking dangerous. Leave your thoughts on the game, on the team, everything down below, because that’ll do it for this episode of Hatrick HQ. If you enjoyed, leave a like, comment, subscribe to the channel. We got so many videos just like this one coming all season long. I’m Josh Gos, my host Casey. We’ll catch you in the next one.
