Pregame Availability | NYI vs WPG (10/13/25)
I’m going to ask a question since it’s kids day. Neve was wondering what your favorite memory was as a young kid at a hockey game. Yes. Uh my favorite goalender was Roi Vashon and uh for one of my birthday my dad brought me to the Montreal Canadians while the Kings were playing um against the Canadians at the forum. So I remember that that game like it was yesterday. So I was behind him and I was looking at him every movie he was making and unfortunately it did not went well for him because Montreal went six nothing but that was okay. Everybody was happy. How old do you know how old you were? I was uh I was a first year So 14 years old. Was played in that game, right? Oh my god. Yeah, probably. But was it not I think I thought he was maybe with the others because it was it was their dynasty where they won like four Stanley Cup and it was a big he played a pretty big role in those ones. Um okay. Yeah. Uh Cal Richie uh you sent down just what’s the the thought there in having him start in Bridgeport and very simple in playing a lot of minutes. He’s going to be probably number one center down there and uh he’s gonna play big minutes. He’s going to play a lot. He’s gonna play PK power play. Um we are so impressed with him and so so happy I mean the way he he played in the training camp. So I think it’d be just good for him. What can he show you down there to kind of you know force his way back up here? Just play the same way. He doesn’t have to change anything. I mean, just keep playing and and um good things will happen to him. I’m pretty confident. Patrick, I know you touched on this yesterday, but just to go back to Casey Sazikas for a second, how impressive is it to reach that 900 game mark in the role that he’s played for so long? Well, I’m sure you will say this. He was very blessed. He played with with Matt Martin and and and Clottbuck for a for a long period of time here and that line was really good line and they I think I mean Barry really trust these guys big time and he would start games with them and so that was an energy line probably for the Islanders at the time. But I mean um but other than this he he did he did what he had to do. I mean um you know energy guy and even since I’ve been here for a year and a half I mean I put him in so many different situation. I mean first our first playoff when we were in Carolina he play on the left wing with Orvat and Barzel um he would play with PJO last year on the left wing back to center. So um and and he’s I really trust him. I mean, I feel like if I need a face off, I know we could win the face off in our D zone. And I’ve been doing a decent pretty good job actually on the penalty killing. So good friend.

Embarrassing
I guess it’s time to start praying for the 1 pick again.
When he mentioned Montréal, how many of you NHL fans remember him winning the Stanley Cup with the Canadiens in 1986 and in 1993?
