Seahawk List Trio of Secondary Starters as DOUBTFUL to Face Jaguars in Jacksonville

The Seahawks hope to have all hands on deck for their road trip to Jacksonville. Unfortunately, the secondary is once again listed as doubtful. We’ll be diving into another jam-packed injury report for the Seahawks heading into week six coming up here on our Blue Fry edition of Locked On Seahawks. And then we’ve got our picks to click game predictions and much more coming your way courtesy of our friends at FanDuel. Right now, new customers can bet just $5. Heading into this week, there was some optimism, at least coming from Mike McDonald, that the Seahawks would have Devin Witherspoon, Julian Love, and Demarcus Lawrence back in action this week. I guess if you want to be a glass half full kind of fan, at least one out of three isn’t too bad. Demarcus Lawrence is going to be available. So, the Seahawks will have one of their key defensive linemen back to hunt after Trevor Lawrence and get after ETN in the back field. But Julian Love and Devin Witherspoon receiving doubtful designations once again seems unlikely either one of them is going to play. and Reek Woolen coming off a concussion, also listed as doubtful. So, you’re looking at three out of their four typical starters at the cornerback and safety spots, at least in base packages. Nick, probably not suiting up on Sunday. And I don’t know that there’s any way to say other than that potentially could be a disaster for Mike McDonald’s defense. Well, you kind of saw it against Tampa Bay. That’s kind of worst case scenario. Um, well, Corbin, if they were listing uh injury reports for podcast hosts, I would have had Nick Lee is questionable for the show um with illness. So, I’m going to I’m going to play hurt today. So, if you excuse uh the voice, but uh the the Seahawks defense right now, I mean, it’s like, you know, if the Avengers lost Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk and had to replace them with, I don’t know, Howard the Duck, Squirrel Girl, and Moonnight or something. That would be kind of what we’re looking at with this defense because clearly when this defense is healthy, um, one of the better defenses in the league, but unfortunately for a second week in a row, it’s looking like that it’s going to be, you know, borderline unrecognizable along the secondary because you I I kind of just see Doubtful as out. Like Doubtful to me is out. Um, I I just don’t see um a huge disparity there. Um, so Spoon, which which really stinks because Weatherspoon, you know, this is gonna have we’re gonna start having a conversation about, you know, what could have been this year with how many games he’s missed and how often he’s had to play, you know, injured this year. Julian Love kind of the same thing. Reek Woolen, um, that that’s kind of the one where like, okay, can you get by with someone else? I know Shaq Griffin is getting elevated looks like to to kind of take on another corner spot as well. We’ll dive in a bit more of what that looks like as well. And and if you look on the other side of things with the Jaguars, yeah, their whole offensive line, I think, is just about on the report, but most of them should play. And Trarevon Walker, Trayvon Walker is probably coming back. So if if this game was simply just a score based on the health reports, the Jags win in a blowout. Um, but that’s why you play the football on the grid iron on the grass or on the turf because you just never know. But right now with the Seahawks health report, uh it’s it’s unfortunately looking a lot like the Tampa Bay game plus Demarcus Lawrence being back is a nice little silver lining. Yeah. And I guess if you’re a glass half empty fan, you say, “Well, Dererick Hall is out.” And we knew that Derrick Hall was going to miss this game. He’s probably going to be out until the buy. Maybe he comes back for their game against the Texans, but that would be the absolute earliest that he’s going to be available with that oblique injury. And even if there’s not injured reserve, I mean, I am starting to wonder a little bit if the medical staff and the coaching staff working together maybe misfired on a few of these guys because maybe Devin Witherspoon would be good to go by now if they would have just held him out for four weeks on injured reserve instead of him coming back for that Thursday night game in Arizona and not having a great game, didn’t play well, and tweaked his knee at the end of that game. Julian Love maybe was in a similar position and this could have just been a case where if they just held him out of that game and they moved into that one with backups, maybe they would have been able to survive. But who knows? Right now they’re in a situation where we’re going to see Darion Kendrick again playing in the slot. You’re going to have Josh Job and Nehemiah Pritchette on the outside. Although I am thinking Shaquille Griffin is going to be getting called up for this game. I don’t see any way the Seahawks are not going to do push that button. I would feel more comfortable putting him in there. And this is the same person who was saying give Nehemiah Pritchette a opportunity last week and then we saw what happened. I’m not going to put everything on his shoulders because you get thrown into a game in the middle of the game and you got to go against a mecha and there were some questions about whether or not the safety play was accurate behind him in terms of coverage assignments. There’s a lot of things to look at, but he certainly did not play well and gave up two touchdowns. So, you’re going to have him or Shaquille Griffin at that other cornerback spot. You got to hope that the guys you have available are healthy because otherwise you are going to be rotating Kobe Bryant back up to corner just out of necessity. And then you’ve got Nick Warry. Luckily, it looks like he’s fine, good to go. Not even uh receiving a designation today. So you’ve got him, you’ve got Taiakata, and you’ve got DeAnthony Bell as your other safeties. I mean, this is becoming, you know, I I always joke it’s a MASH unit at this point. It’s a MASH unit that is on fire. I think that that this secondary has just gotten so banged up. And you’re hoping you can get out of this one. And Monday Night Football with an extra day of rest before week seven that you can get some of these guys back on the field. That’s got to be the hope right now. Hold them out one more week. make sure they’re ready to go and then get them back next week. But that is going to make this game that much more difficult for Mike McDonald’s defense to be able to get the stops that they need. And the onus and look, we’re getting into the keys to victory here to second, but the onus is going to fall now. I mean, front line, this game falls on you. If you want those players in the secondary to be able to hold up against Jacksonville’s athletic playmaking receivers, you better get home. You better get to the quarterback because if you don’t, you are going to see a repeat of the last week where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers turned Seattle secondary into the burnt krispies back there. You have got to get pressure up front with your defensive line and if you’re not able to do it, uh that is going to be a recipe for disaster in Florida. Yeah. And and you’re facing a Liam Cohen pupil for the second uh game in a row and that did not go great um against Tampa Bay. I will push back a little bit. I’m seeing a little bit of a spoon slander in the live chat about being injuryprone. I disagree. He played every single game last year. 17. He played all 17 games last year and just missed three as a rookie. So, this this kind of this is not something that’s been really like hampering Spoon his entire career. This is something that clearly is bothering him because he’s a high competitor. I mean, we all we all have listened to the sound bites, know Spoon, he is a high high competitor and so clearly this is something that’s been bothering him. I think you bring up a good point about maybe they they tried to push the issue a little bit too much and this being ahead of a Monday Night Football um you know matchup that maybe maybe things work out better but um really that in the end it’s it is looking hauntingly a little bit like the Tampa Bay game. Um but you’d like to think maybe in a weird way it’s good that they’re having two of these backto-back against a you know Liam Cohen quarterback because now maybe they can fix some things that went wrong last week. Yeah, and I think it was Leonard Williams that mentioned that getting to play the same style offense two weeks in a row is going to be beneficial for them. And you better hope from a secondary and coverage standpoint that they made the adjustments they need this week because again, if you didn’t, the way that things went last week, there weren’t just guys getting open. They had entire chunks of the field to themselves. And you’re going to have the same cast of car characters for the most part minus having no Reek Woolen most likely for this entire game too playing. And that’s just going to make it that much tougher to be able to slow down the passing game. When we come back, we’ve got some keys to victory. And we’re going to have to get specific with this one with the injury Seattle’s dealing with, the opponent they’re playing, making one of the longest road trips you can make in the at least intercontinental NFL. We’ll get to those keys to victory coming up next here on our Friday edition of Locked On Seahawks. This episode is brought your way by Supply House. Welcome back to the blue Friday edition of Locked on Seahawks. I’m your host Corbin Smith. He’s Nick Lee. A special thanks to all the twelves who are tuning in and thank you as always for making Locked on Seahawks your first listen five days a week. We greatly appreciate it. The Seahawks officially in the air heading to Jacksonville. Got a huge game coming up on Sunday against the 4-1 Jaguars. And that is still something that’s not rolling off the tongue very easily because Jacksonville has typically not been a team that you have a 4-1 record early in the season or anything close. But Liam Cohen’s team is playing really good football. They’ve got some great wins on the resume as well. The Seahawks hoping to put a little bit of a hitch in the snap and that momentum for the Duval Jaguars here. So, let’s get to our keys to victory, Nick. And we’re going to start on the offensive side of the football as always. This feels like another game. Last week, I actually thought it was going to be a defensive game going into that matchup because both teams had some significant questions when it came to injuries on both sides of the ball. And then the forecast changed and more injuries piled up on defense. Next thing you know, it turns uh it was a low-scoring game in the first half, turned into a shootout in the second half. This one feels like another game that there’s going to be a lot of points in the scoreboard and this offense is going to need to rise the occasion with all the injuries that Mike McDonald’s defense has. Absolutely. And I used to live in Jacksonville. I have a lot of really good friends who are are Jags fans. They’re they’re feeling themselves after that uh Monday night win. They should. That was a big win for the Jags. And and watching that game and watching the Seahawks against the Bucks, it became clear that this game was going to be decided in the red zone. got to win the win the red zone battle as it were even though that kind of sounds funny. Um both the Seahawks and the Jaguars allowed four red zone touchdowns last week and also scored four red zone touchdowns last week. So um if and that is obviously the recipe for a shootout and both teams kind of had that. So um really depend if the Seahawks go four for four again in the red zone like they did uh against Tampa Bay, I’d like to think that they win that game. Um but again, you know, the Chiefs scored four red zone touchdowns against the Jags and that did not that was not enough uh against Lawrence with the uh the tripping rushing touchdown at the end there. That was really fun uh to watch as a as a neutral fan, but um yeah, so the red zone really sticks out to me as really I mean obviously it’s important in every football game, but a game like this where there’s immense on both offenses and Seahawks defense really banged up. So, I’m not sure, you know, they’re at their top five, top seven in the NFL kind of status right now with how unhealthy they are. Um, those you got to punch it in. You got to punch it in and get points. Um, much it’s it’s going to it feels a little bit like in baseball, playoff baseball right now, Mariners game five tonight. Um, if you can get that, you know, two, three, four run lead into the six into the fifth, sixth inning, you turn your bullpin on and just go with those hot arms to try to hold the lead. And um it kind of feels like one of those games where if if you can just get a little bit of a lead and kind of hang on for dear life there um with how the defense goes that will that will uh so basically scoring red zone touchdowns is akin to you know hitting with runners in scoring position. The Seahawks need to drivein runs when they’re in scoring position. Yeah, both these teams have been really good at least the last few weeks have been really good at driving in. They’ve been almost automatic driving in runners that are in scoring position. So, this is not going to be a game where you can turn six into three. Uh, the Seahawks cannot afford to do that. When they get in the red zone, you got to be able to finish. That has been a strength for this team. So, you have to be confident on that front. And it’s a lot different setup. And I’ve talked about this in earlier episodes this week, but now I’ve got a little bit more detail behind my explanation in terms of why I think the Seahawks this week is polar opposite from last week where I felt like you got to throw the football to open up the run game. To me, this is a game where the run game opens up the passing attack. Jacksonville does not have the run defense that the Tampa Bay Bucks do. They don’t have a Vea in the middle. Eric Armstead is a very good player, but different style player. They don’t have that big girthy defensive tackle, nose tackle that can wreck games. Jacksonville does not have that player. Their run defense right now is 25th in EPA out of 32 teams. they have been susceptible to the run game. Uh particularly when it comes to mixing in the off tackle and perimeter plays and that includes receivers getting jet sweeps, making mixing in reverses, zone and gap game. I think this is a opponent that more of a lean in in the gap schemes may be beneficial because this is a little bit smaller defensive line. They’ve got some really good defensive linemen, but they also have some edge players who are light that that are thin. And I think you can really work those guys with power schemes in this contest. This feels like a game where I think Seattle, they can get 25 26 carries out of their running backs. Good run games travel. They’ve been running the football well the last couple of games. Seems like they’re finding traction there. If you can bring that run game with some potency to Jacksonville and Ken Walker III doesn’t have the negative plays this last week. Zero yards was his shortest run. If you can come close to replicating that in this game and you consistently are able to move the ball with positive plays in the ground, get some explosives with your running backs, wear Jacksonville’s defense down. Their front seven is a lot lighter than the one that has played in Tampa Bay. I think you can get this ground game going and that could be your leading catalyst to winning this football game. If they’re not able to run the football, then it allows guys like Josh Hines Allen to be able to really pin their ears back and get after the quarterback. So, I think it’s a polar opposite of last week where I felt like it’s going to be about the passing game. This game I really feel like the run game has got to be I don’t necessarily want to say dynamic but but it needs to be really good for Seattle to be able to go to Jacksonville and win this one. Definitely looking at the stats um as you mentioned they’re 25th in EPA per rush also 25th in run stop win rates are the Jags D um on and uh in running the ball they can be had Kansas City ran for 158 yards again didn’t didn’t quite uh get them the win but they ran the bell ran the ball effectively um and then I looked when the Seahawks get more than 27 carries so 27 plus uh rushing attempts they’re 3 and 0 and 0 and2 when they don’t I know that’s really oversimplifying things. Um, just, you know, give hand the ball off the first 27 plays of the game and you’ll be fine. Now, that’s not how it works, but you know, because it usually when you can get the 2728 carries, it’s usually symptomatic of moving the chains, sustaining drives, you know, dominating the trenches, controlling the clock, and the more you can keep, you know, Trevor Lawrence and company on the sidelines, that’d be great, especially on the road, like you mentioned, things like that can travel. Um, and the and the Jags are actually fairly good at not allowing long drives. They’re sixth best defense as far as time of possession allowed per drive. So, um, that’s something’s got to give there. I think the Seahawks are fairly good at running the ball. So, that is a key point, too, is can you sustain drives, especially on the ground? Yeah, this the sustaining drives, being able to eat up clock when your defense is missing that many players. You want to help those guys out, keep the backups off the field. And you do that with the long drives. And I know last week it was just both teams just back and forth track meet. That’s just the way the pacing of the game was. But this one feels like from Seattle’s perspective that you absolutely have got to find a way to I’m not saying get your foot off the pedal because you take points when you can get points, but like find a way to really hammer out some long drives and help out your injury batter defense. um particularly on the road. So I think that is crucial. I think they absolutely have to win the time of possession battle and that is the run game. That is being able to get third down conversions with your passing game, second down conversions, being able to hold on to the football and play a little bit of keep away from Jacksonville, an offense that got plenty of weapons. Now let’s go to the defensive side of the ball when the Seahawks are playing this Jags offense. And you just mentioned the word oversimplify talking about 26, 27, 28 carries. And obviously there’s a lot of things that go into that. You can say the same thing when it comes to pressuring the quarterback, but I I am going to simplify things here. Demarcus Lawrence coming back, I think, is a big deal for the edge rushers. getting a more powerful guy that can create some problems for two tackles that have been less than 100% for Jacksonville, but has been playing pretty well. But I’m looking at the interior Dline again like last week I I thought that Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy the second and Jiren Reed were going to be able to have a really good game against a interior for Tampa Bay that was not at 100%. And those guys bottled up that defensive line. There’s got to be some anger. This group’s got to be pissed off with the way they played last week. play. They need to come out and set the tone. If you can get some pressure on blitzes, so be it. If your edge guys can get after the quarterback, that would be awesome. It’s really been a weakness for this team so far. But this team is going to go in this contest where the interior defensive line goes. If they can get interior pressure, Trevor Lawrence is still a QB that will unccork some bad throws. He will make some questionable decisions with his arm. And this is still a secondary that’s got some opportunistic guys. are going to be playing. They have to find a way to get three plus sacks in this game in my opinion. If they get two or less, I don’t think they win. If they get to Lawrence three times, then I think their odds of winning increase exponentially. Not just pressures, you need to get home and get Trevor Lawrence down. And he has shown in the past he will crack if you can get pressure like that on him. forgive another baseball analogy that the pressure sometimes turns into like well the expected batting average of that hit was I don’t care was it a hit or not you know did you get the sack or not and this is a game where I think don’t don’t give me the oh the Seahawks had 25 pressures when they only had one sack get the sack because yeah as you mentioned um I know you said three sacks but when even when the Seahawks have multiple sacks in a game this year they’re three and 0. Yes, I totally get it with, you know, how do you, you know, for how hurt the defensive secondary is? You get pressure. Byron Murphy, Leonard Williams looking at you. Byron Murphy leads the team with 15 pressures. It’s time to get several more. Uh, against the Jags interior line, much like Tampa Bay, I believe, um, the starting center, the name escapes me for the Jags, but Robert, yeah, I believe he’s in question um to play in this game. So, if they’re if they’re facing, you know, a rookie backup center, um, that should be foaming at the mouth time for Byron Murphy and company. And also, um, you know, we were talking before the show, you know, Travis ETN, a very talented running back. You know, we’ve followed his career ever since his time in Clemson, of course, and it seems like now he’s kind of finding his way a little bit. He’s kind of had some, he’s been very hot and cold. Trust me, I’ve had him in fantasy. Um, he’s he’s either just absolute nothing or he just goes bonkers. And um and especially along the edges, I was looking at the one of my favorite things to look at in Pro Football Focus is like the run direction stats. Yeah. And specifically over the left edge, so outside of the left tackle, the Jags have 117 rushing yards this year just in that one gap. So heads up on the I guess right side of the Seahawks defense because Travis ET company can certainly get explosive plays on the left side or just on the edges itself. And also what you don’t want to happen is that turning into, you know, the secondary creeping in and it’s just more explosive plays in the passing game with Lawrence and Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas and company. That is nightmare fuel. Yeah, the perimeter is what concerns me in this game because even though Tampa Bay average under three yards per carry last week, they had the two red zone rushing touchdowns, which Seattle had not given up a rushing touchdown all year. that was eventually going to break. But giving up two of them last week, Rashad White, both those touchdowns were perimeter runs and they just didn’t set the edge. Jiren Reed was talking about it earlier this week that that was something they had to get corrected this week. The run defense have been great, but that was the one little uh break in the armor there that they have got to get figured out this week. And hopefully they did because if they didn’t, that is where the Jaguars bread and butter is with their run game. And they can really stress you out. They have got to set a firm edge and keep guys in front in the secondary. There were way too many plays last week where look, everybody wanted to blame Taiakata, but Josh Job getting caught flatfooted on that deep ball to Amecha Bua. Like that cannot happen this week. They have to be on their P’s and Q’s when it comes to their assignments. And you can’t let Jacksonville’s receivers, Brian Thomas, Travis Hunter company, you cannot let them get vertical on you and get a bunch of explosives. They gave up 10 plays of 16 or more yards in the passing game last week. If they give up more than five or six in this one, they are going to lose guaranteed. That has got to be cut down. You got to limit the explosives. It cannot be the Fourth of July in mid-occtober in Jacksonville. You have got to limit those chunk plays in the passing game. Let’s keep the fireworks at T-Mobile Park tonight. Huh? Let’s keep the fireworks at T-Mobile Park tonight. And let’s let’s keep them there for good reason at the end of game five. But they got to limit those explosives in the passing game. They don’t do that. I to me it all goes together. We’re talking marrying your pass rush with the coverage. But in this particular one with the injuries in the secondary, you want to limit those opportunities strike downfield. Don’t give Trevor Lawrence the chance to make those throws because the pressure is too much for him. So, that is going to be crucial to win this game in Jacksonville. Jacksonville looking to stay at top the AFC South and remain one of the surprise contenders emerging in the AFC after a big win over the Chiefs. Another home game that they had on Monday night. Nick, looking at this matchup, uh from a picktoclick perspective, last week you had to take the L by just simply not being on the show, but Cooper Cup gave me a pretty good game, especially with a run blocking added on top. So felt pretty good about that one on offense. Defensively, Boy Maf did not step up for me at all. Uh kind of like the entire defensive line just felt like they went awall in that game against Tampa Bay. So hoping for a little more success this week. Let’s start on defense this time for our picks to click. And it’s interesting when you when you’re down to fourth and fifth stringers at cornerback and safety. You know, conventional wisdom would tell you, well, you better hope it’s somebody in the front seven that you’re pick to click to take some pressure off. But I know that you’re thinking a little bit differently this weekend. I am. When I was looking at uh some, you know, some stats from last week and how, you know, most of it was cover your eyes, but one guy I think did step up quietly. didn’t have any like a huge statistical game and I thought it was very interesting that despite the absolute you know Battle of Britain air raid that happened on this secondary Kobe Bryant never faced a single target according to Pro Football Focus which I think is very interesting maybe a sign of respect certainly with Julian Love uh down um last week Kobe Bryant faced 42 covered snaps didn’t face a single target um I I could see him making a pretty big play against you know Travis Hunter and making a he’s also tied for the team lead interceptions. Just seems to have a nose for the football. So, if the Seahawks are going to win this game and on a defensive play, I would say the odds are pretty high that Kobe Bryant is involved. Yeah, you know, it’s a good call and I, you know, I thought when you looked at the missed tackles that was an issue for the entire team and he had some struggles with that, but like he’s the ball hawk that is still healthy right now. you need him to come through and come up with a big play. And I I look at this defensive line, I already called him out every single episode this week because I just thought I thought it was kind of an embarrassing performance for the interior defensive line last week against Tampa Bay. Those guys have been chopping at the bit all week to get back to playing the way that they are capable. And I just think Byron Murphy the second going up against a backup center Jonah Mahheim I know he played well on Monday night and he did a really nice job against Chris Jones but sometimes those games where guys get thrown in like they’ll surprise you and then when they’re in a full game setting things can be a little bit different. I think Byron Murphy I can have a lot of success working against him. I think they’re going to use him quite a bit in that nose tackle role to try to take advantage of it. I think he gets a sack and I think he has a strip sack against Trevor Lawrence in this game. So, give me Byron Murphy the second is my pick to click. We’re actually going to get some interior pressure this week on Jacksonville, which gives them a fighting chance to win the game. Now, going to the offensive side of the football. You and I are going in much different directions here. I I could see the pass rush impacting Kobe Bryant’s performance, but you and I are going in much different directions in terms of who we have as our picks to click on offense for Clint Kubak’s unit. I was kind of just looking through Seahawks Jaguars history, you know, the the the deep historic history, you know, of the two teams. They’ve only met a few times. Um I’m going to call my shot here a little bit. Um he’s going to go Tory Horton is going to pay homage to Joey Galloway in the Seahawks first ever matchup with the Jaguars in in 1995 when Galloway on an endound ran for 86 yard touchdown in this as a receiver. So you know endound handoff ran all the way to the end zone. So give me Tory Horton with a nice reverse kind of maybe a trick play kind of touchdown because Horton just seems to have a nose for the nose for the end zone. has scored three of the last four games and the Seahawks have only won once in Jacksonville since that 1995 game. So, if you want the good vibes, let’s get another receiver on like an end round long run. So, he he does his best Joey Galloway impression with a nice touchdown. Yeah, I’m going to stick with one of my hot hands. The last two times I’ve picked Ken Walker, he has shown up and he has lived up to that pick to click. So, I’m I’m sticking with the hot hand here. I I look at Jacksonville’s run defense. I I expect Clint Kubak to come out running the football. Um for the reasons we mentioned, you want to sustain drives and this is a defense that’s 25th in EPA against the run. They’re a little lighter than some of the teams Seattle’s played. Now, that doesn’t mean that they’re a bad run defense. They can create disruption. They can get penetration. The front line is going to have to be able to limit the leakage so that Ken Walker the third has room to operate. But I think this is a game that off tackle, ironically enough, Seattle needs to stop that on defense. I think on offense, get that offtackle run game going against the light edges that the Jaguars have. A lot of passh pass centric players there. I think that is where Seattle can have success. So, I’ve got Ken Walker going for over a hundred in this game for the second time this year. And let’s give him let’s give him two rushing touchdowns at this game. I think number nine, he’s got momentum. He’s looked really good the last two weeks. The offensive line is playing more in sync, and I just think that that is going to be the best chance the Seattle has to be able to compete and win this game. They’re going to lean on their running backs and their run game in general. All right, Nick, prediction time. And I will admit, this has maybe been the toughest one for me that I’ve had this entire year trying to gauge what is going to happen in this game. Jacksonville right now a one and a half point favorite. So, this the spread is close. This is expected to be a tight game. Even with the injuries that the Seahawks have, I think that it’s going to be in the realm of possibility that uh that spread is going to be just about right in this one. I could see this being decided by one or two points between these squats. Well, if you look at I I broke down 20 different 24 different stats, Corbin, you know, EPA, conversion rates, all this stuff. It was 12 to 12 advantage wise. It was that even. And so, uh, really the tiebreaker, excuse me, is health, which I don’t have. Um, the tiebreaker is health. Um, it was, you know, the Seahawks defense is, um, you know, go back to Avengers. It’s like, you know, after that battle with Thanos and Endgame where Captain America shields broken, Thor’s bleeding out. It is just, it is just an absolute mess. Um, and with that, the Seahawks are actually three and nine in the state of Florida since 2000, which isn’t great. Um, so shout out to one of my best friends, David. Big Jags fan. He’ll be happy because he also is from Pacific Northwest. Converted Jags fan. He’s uh going to love this. I’m going to go Jags 27, Seahawks 26. I just think with the injuries the Seahawks have, the long trip, the Jags coming off a big Monday Night Football win, they’re feeling themselves. I think there’s just a combination that doesn’t quite favor the Seahawks. If Seattle was playing at Lumen Field, I would be in agreement with you. But they are not playing at Lumen Field. They are flying. And I tell you what, and I think we need to call this team the vacationers. They just love getting away from Seattle. They play really well everywhere else. This is not your, you know, older brother or your father’s Seahawks where traveling to Jacksonville that was a scary road trip or going to Pittsburgh like they’re just excited to get on a plane. This team loves to play on the road. I can’t explain it. I think it’s going to be close, but I think in this case, this is that one scenario. Hopefully that the Iron Man the actual end result doesn’t happen for a Seahawks player. But I think the Seahawks are going to have an Iron Man and I think they’re going to escape with a 30 to 28 win. I think that I’m going to have Seattle covering that spread barely. But man, I I I think that this is a game that is going to be back and forth. I think there’s going to be some turnovers. I expect there’s going to be a couple of critical mistakes made by both teams, but I think Seattle is going to make one less than what Jacksonville is going to in this game and they’re going to get a Jason Myers field goal. Jason Myers likes kicking away from Lumen Field better than at Lumen Field, too. So, just another reason that I think the Seahawks get it done, but I think you and I are in agreement that this game has 5050. This this feels like a Harvey dead two-face coin flip type game to me that could go either way. But I think Seattle eekes it out. You think Jacksonville finds a way to sneak out with the win? I expect this to be a really tight competitive fun game on Sunday. As always, you can follow me at X and Blue Sky Corbin Smith NFL. You can follow Nick at nicol 51. Even with another week for players to get healthy, the Seahawks will once again likely be without multiple starters in the secondary for a tough road game in Jacksonville. Hosts Corbin Smith and Nick Lee discuss Seattle’s latest injury report with starters Devon Witherspoon, Riq Woolen, and Julian Love all listed as doubtful and who will be asked to step up in their place in Week 6, assemble a game plan for victory on offense and defense, including producing at least three sacks on Trevor Lawrence, and dish out their weekly Picks to Click and game predictions in a jam-packed Blue Friday episode.

  1. Would rather see Jerrick Reed @ safety than Ty Okada….. imo a better tackler/ athlete…. Honestly NOT looking forward to part 2 of the Pritchett/ Okada experience on Sunday …. Our pass rush sucks & our depleted secondary is sh**….. IF the Hawks can escape w/ a win I'll be shocked! Hopefully the M's & Huskies can start this weekend with 2 huge wins❗❗ LFG🍻🍻🍻

  2. To the troll who said Jags 29 – Hawks 17 :

Hawks are not scoring only 17 points in this game.

Jags D is solid but not 1985 Bears solid.

If anything, the Hawks will be the team who scores over 30+ and hold the Jags to 17 even with their injuries.

Why? Because while Trevor Lawrence is solid, he's nowhere near Baker Mayfield's level.

And that Jags offense is nowhere near Tampa's (even with Travis hunter).

Hawks take this one on the road to go to 4-2 and get back on track.

    GO HAWKS!!!

  3. Stop trashing Walker. You realize his style, don't you. I am not saying he is Barry Sanders but his style is similar. Barry lead the league in negative runs each year. He also lead the league in explosives annually.

  4. This is why you don't trade Riq Woolen mid seasson. So much talent and he is till going to break up enough passes . Back off Riq he is a starter and 2× pro Bowler?

  5. Thankfully they reportedly called up NT Pili from practice squad to active to help our interior rotation stay fresher throughout entire game, should help clog up inside run lanes & help run D, which could indirectly help pass D with being able to potentially & hopefully be able to have more of back 7 focusing more on coverage & pass D as well as hopefully keeping them in longer downs & distances. Especially going up against a backup center (btw if u haven't noticed Chris Jones has been a shadow of a shadow of his former self basically if not every single game this year, so it's not exactly that good of a measuring stick for the backup Center play level & capability 😊

It Definitely seems like we need to very strongly consider bringing in some better backup depth/rotational & maybe a few starter level players. Edge is seemingly most obvious, safety, cb depending on how shaq Griffin does if they do call him up, but right now Pritchett doesn't seem like he he has any place whatsoever being amongst our 53 man roster, at best the practice squad IMHO RN, off ball ILB, seemingly both of "starters" & definitely the backups need to be improved upon, swing OT Oor swing Ot/OG as it doesn't seem like Jones has been available to do anything since at least the 2nd preseason game, potentially see if there's a at least pretty decent quality primary rotational RB depth or whatever u want to call it with the 1 or other of top 2 RBs seemingly always injured and there could be a few of them out there with how many of teams out there have zero chance at playoffs let alone being competitive next 2 years that either do have a potential of RB of use for us or seemingly at least a potential injury depth RB upgrade improvement for us.

Of the guys at the other positions that could be available that could & should help us rest of regular season & into playoffs potentially are:

Edge Keyvon Thibedeaux, Off Ball Cody Barton I know I know the dread the name invokes but he's played at bare minimum solidly with both coverage, tackling consitently & essentially in run D, he is more athletic & does have at least reasonable speed potential all of which would be significant upgrades over our current backup & at least 1 potentially both of our starting ILBs

  6. Spoon will aways be hurt. His style screams it. You want him healthy put him on the outside. You want him hurt have him playing safety really. Seattle is putting in harm's way.

  7. Real pressure it better than sacks. Real pressure forced mistakes. Mistakes mean turnovers. That means short fields. Sacks mean punts. A good thing. I'll say it again. If you would have said before Seattle's SB win, they get zero sacks on Manning and give up at the time a SB record for completions, you would have said Seattle gets blown out. Seattle gave up 7. Why? Pressure not sacks. They forced mistakes. Given them shorter fields. Pressure=mistakes. Sacks=punts. 4 punts in a game or 4 mistakes? You'd take the 4 mistakes every single time. Sacks are the pretty girl. You love to look at them. By the never put out. But pressure is average looking girl that puts out:)
