“I think once that offseason happened and it started to progress, it became clear to me the team had different priorities,” Horford said. “Obviously, getting rid of Jrue (Holiday), getting rid of Kristaps (Porziņģis). And I know it’s all salary stuff, but it was like a domino effect, and it was tough for me. It was a tough decision, but my wife and I, we prayed about it. I knew that it had to be something that was gonna be — that my family had to be on board with me for us to proceed in something like this. And that was it.”

  1. All good Al, certified Celtics legend.

Best of luck and no hard feelings whatsoever

  2. “We’re doing a soft reset year” is hard to hear when you turn 40 after the season. Wish him all the best, totally get both why the Celtics did what they did and why Al made the decision he did as well.

  3. No hard feelings, Al. Always a place for you here but absolutely no qualms about you going to GSW.

  4. I get it, you only get so many in opportunities at the end of your career and the modern NBA is about two things pretty much : money and rings.

So he left. Just feels bad. Not anywhere close to an Al hater but I foresee another philly type stint for him then retire.

  5. This is going to be such an odd season. Really going to miss our old roster 🙁

  6. Wish he was actually going for another Title rather than joining a team that has no chance at one on the clear other side of the country.

Also don’t love the way he said ‘get rid of’ in regards to Jrue and KP. At least we know the Celtics wanted to keep him and he declined

  7. It just came down to money. He still wants money and GS gave more of it to him even though they won’t get anywhere this year. Love Al as a Celtic, but he’s chosen money to not win over staying with the team two different times now lol.

  8. No hard feelings (which I would have said even if it wasn’t a rebuild year). One of the classiest athletes around, wish him nothing but the best.

  9. I’m gonna argue he has the same percentage chance of winning a ring with the Celtics and Warriors in this upcoming season
