Tucker DeVries enters his final year of eligibility on the biggest stage in his collegiate career – Bloomington, Indiana. Tucker has exclusively played with his father, now Indiana head coach Darian DeVries, throughout his career and followed him to Bloomington upon his recent hiring. However, don’t see this as favoritism or anything in the realm of that whatsoever – Tucker is an absolute baller.
He began his career at Drake, where in his best season (2023-2024) he averaged 21.6 points per game, 6.7 rebounds per game, 3.7 assists per game, and 1.6 steals per game. He won countless Missouri Valley Conference awards and finished with the 10th most points in all of D1 college basketball during this season.
Following Drake, he transferred to West Virginia University where his father was hired as head coach. That partnership lasted one season of course before Darian and Tucker DeVries came to Bloomington. While at WVU, Tucker faced a lot of injury struggles, but looked dynamic in the 8 games he played. This includes maybe his best game of the season against Arizona in the Battle 4 Atlantis, where Tucker dropped 26 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists while shooting 8/12 from three point range.
Tucker DeVries now arrives to Bloomington fully healthy and looks to take the next step in his career. I am sure he has the NBA in his cross hairs, and he has all the tools to get there. DeVries brings elite shooting, shot creation, and creativity to the offensive end while also bringing tenacity and a big body to the defensive side of the equation. He very well could be the Hoosiers’ best player this season and will get every opportunity to lead the Hoosiers back to their championship pedigree.
The Hoosiers are set to open the regular season at Assembly Hall on November 5th against Alabama A&M. Stay locked in with Hoosiers Huddle for all things Indiana Basketball, Indiana Football, and all other Indiana sports – all the time.
