Team is straight up doomed. Going to be just good enough to miss the playoffs and not get a decent 1st round pic.

Buddy, it’s been 3 games. Also we got outshot by 6 shots, it wasn’t a bad game at all. The biggest concern imo is that Hughes didn’t do much and was actually responsible for some chances against. I’m sure he’ll bounce back though.
Even worse than tocchet hockey IMO.

I love how no one has any idea what Rick Tocchet hockey was, what Adam Foote hockey is, or what to look for to tell the difference. I know you people think that if the ‘vibe’ is the same it must mean the strategy is too, but the team was *trying* to generate rush offense all night. They were just failing to do it (not on the same page wrt puck movement).
Only game 3. Relax
Not a big enough sample size to say yet. Give it 15-20 games to really see the system come through, then we can compare
Aqua Hockey. We go through a LOT of coaches and they all have roughly the same results. Things are rotten from the top down
Man, when people in the sub blame the systems/coach it always gets me going. Clearly have never stepped foote on a sheet of ice.
It’s not identical. There’s less dump and chase but the forwards aren’t sustaining enough pressure which is throwing everything in a loop.
I don’t think the system is the same. The passing was godawful. Won’t beat many teams if they keep coughing up the puck in all 3 zones…
We got some work to do.
At least with Rick’s hockey we could land passes.

The problem is the construction of the team. You can only do so much when your team is constructed the same way as before – except for the fact that our core is another year older.
With all due respect, pretty sure giving the bench to an inexperienced coach like Adam Foote was a bad idea. Especially when they had a coach, who is fresh off a Calder Cup winning season, Like Manny Malthotra in the wings.
I know it’s early, but the team play looks worser than last year. The ghost of Tocchet lives within this copy and paste system Foote has adapted.
Let’s go Boys. Game 4 in a few days.
Yeah it’s absolutely the coaching, not the fact our number 1C makes 11.6 and would be in the AHL on a good NHL team. Or said player’s personality is so toxic players demanded to be traded and coach’s quit to get away from him. It’s not that, it’s Foote and Tocchet’s coaching style for sure…

Just me, but I thought the Blues’ goals were from bounces into the slot, and the Canucks’ goals were rushy and sweet
Or you know, maybe the roster just sucks
We have one top 6 center (chytil), and he’s probably a 3C on a good team.
We don’t have a first line.
Same players
5 coaches now and we’re still not putting it on the players.
We cant gain the zone at an NHL level.
Dump, chase, cycle, cycle, wrist shot from point.
EXACT same shit as last year.
System is different and it’s clearly not gelled with the players quite yet. A perfect example was MP3 joining the rush last night, not knowing what to do with the puck, giving it up, and the winger didn’t support him so there was an odd man rush back the other way.
MP3 doesnt have an offensive bone in his body, and players dont usually have to cover for him. This is what I would call the opposite of RT hockey, and it makes sense that the players aren’t quite in sync just yet.
3 games in — fire the coach, rebuild the entire team!!!
If that happens will you all be happy with three plus years of sitting at the bottom of the league?
Biggest issue has been sustaining o zone possession and landing passes. D are a big blame for firing away low danger shots that get blocked and create rush chances or miss the net and fly out of the zone. Forward lines are the obvious blame for poor passing especially in the O zone. Maybe more actual NHL games will create chemistry. But we have like 6 first time(ish) NHL players on our lines.
Our stars are also not showing up to the degree they can, but the supporting cast is, maybe, showing its faults. Petey had a terrible first period. Hughes made multiple of the above mistakes.
The systems look nothing alike so far. The oyster are looking a lot more lost out there right now.
Not the same system at all. At least under Tocchet, there was structure, he made sure the fundamentals are being followed.
Under Foote it feels like we’re running around with our heads cut off. Foote also mentioned that they need to work on the fundamentals and I was like, I thought we already learned this!! Dammit…first 3 games and it already looks bad.
