This is abysmal.

  1. Amazing. But, I’ll throw the (pathetic) caveat in there that Zac uses screens a *lot* as part of the running game. Are those screens successful a lot of the time? Hell no. But. Maybe they could be factored in just a little bit.

  2. Why always us. So many other shit teams and franchises in the NFL and somehow it’s always the bengals setting these types of records.

Ownership and Duke really saw us go to a SB, realized it’s expensive and hard, and decided to back off instead of leaning in and investing.

  3. Zac Taylor has not tried nor will he ever learn how to establish a running game. The personnel are still NFL offensive lineman. That little yardage is pretty awful. And I would bet some of those are qb rushing yards.

  4. Mims is in the bottom 10% for all tackles (starting and backups) for run blocking.

He has been a bust for a 1st round draft pick. (for 5th round pick he’d be just disappointing).

ESPN had a segment where they discussed how very tall tackles on average perform worse than others. Their center of gravity is too high and it is difficult for them to get leverage on lower players. And when the crouch lower they lose mobility and strength.

  5. And yet ESPN still trying to tell me each week that Chase Brown is my best running back ahead of Montgomery and Skattebo. “Just one more game bro promise bro he’ll start popping off soon bro I swear”

  6. The fact that an oline made of Trey Hopkins, Bobby Hart, John Miller, Michael Jordan, Billy Price, and John Jerry only had 1 less rushing yard than the current oline is so depressing

  7. 70% of the offensive payroll goes to THREE GUYS. This really shouldn’t surprise anyone.

  8. I don’t know what to say. Can’t draft a proper offensive line player, can’t free agent a proper offensive line, can’t train an offensive line.

Need an upgrade at OL coach, OF cord, and HC coach. Start now by getting rid of Taylor and get someone with the correct knowledge.

  9. Why is anyone surprised that a team with a top 4 quarterback, top 1 WR1 and top 1 WR2 would be ignoring the run game and focusing on the pass?

That’s like complaining that a 600hp Ferrari can’t tow a load of gravel. Yeah, it’s imbalanced. Burrow publicly advocated to keep Tee and the FO abode. When you put all of your eggs onto one side of the basket, that’s what happens.

Number 1 in passing yards last year, number 30 in rushing. This is the Burrow effect.

  10. It’s inexcusable that we’re still talking about this. We need a house cleaning from top to bottom and to bring in people who actually care and know what they’re doing.

  11. I liked how against the Packers we actually pitched the ball a few times instead of running it straight ahead into defenders who saw the 1st down run play a million miles away.

  12. the biggest problem with the running game is scheme vs. talent. It’s also the same problem as the defense.

They have drafted and built and oline to pass protect. Fairchild, Mims, OBJr all, at least historically, have way stronger pass protection metrics than run blocking. But then the coaches try to run 12 personnel and force a run game. They haven’t drafted anyone any good at actual run blocking. Then it’s a surprise when we have no run game.

On defense they draft dline with very weak pass rushing metrics and then are shocked when our pass rush is bottom of the league.

They are bad at roster construction.

  13. Watching the OLine performance is so depressing. Orlando occasionally never touches an opposing player while they blow right by him.

At this point if we just draft all OLine every round I’d be like, “cool”

  14. Its a huge shame because we could have a great duo back system we could be running which would relieve tension on that o-line and help us better establish the passing game.

  15. Zac Taylor produced the Jared Goff the Rams decided to trade. Then he decided to come here and the rest is history.
