[Bodner] Nick Nurse was asked whether Joel Embiid could play in the preseason opener on Friday: “I think there’s some chance, yeah. I don’t think we’re there yet.” Nurse says it could go either way depending on how the next few days go.

  1. Very good sign, even if he doesn’t play. Looks like he is in a better spot now than he was last year.

  2. Translation: “No, he won’t play the preseason opener, but will most likely play the season opener.”

  3. How are we still legit at this place with Embiid man, After the phillies and eagles i am not ready to be exhausted by this shit again.

  4. They’re slow rolling the media, but it’s pretty obvious he’s healthy (or as healthy as he’s gonna be) and going to start the opener.

  5. All signs point to Joel starting the year active, which a few months ago I would’ve put at about a 1% chance of happening

  6. I would think he’d play limited minutes as prep for the season opener. Seems like a great opportunity to give him exposure to real game action after missing so much time.

  7. I hope he plays a few games and does well and then is traded before the inevitable injury comes.

  8. I mean this all but confirms he’ll play to start the year regardless. Which feels like a top 0.05% outcome from 8 months ago
