Elias Pettersson is on the clock to start performing.

Patterson was three and 15 in the faceoff circle. Like yikes. Um he’s got to be better than that. And I think he will be like to me that feels like an outlier kind of night. I hope it is. Look, there are some concerns. I I think everybody understands that. Uh we gave him a little bit of leash in the preseason because it was the preseason. He scored the one-time goal and that sort of got a rise out of some people. But, uh, once the season began, uh, the pressure is going to be on, the microscope or the bright lights, whatever. He knows that he’s getting scrutinized in this market. I hope that if you were to ask him straight up, he’d tell you, haven’t been very good in these first couple of games. But to your point then, Matt, like when like, you know, uh, I think the patience will wear pretty thin pretty soon in this marketplace just because it’s been 18 months. It wasn’t just a little blip last year. Uh it goes back obviously to the stretch run the the year before. Uh at some point it has to look different, feel different, and ultimately be different. And it can’t be enough to come out of these games with, oh, I saw a back check here. I saw him make a pass. Like that’s not even baseline material for a guy in the NHL making what he’s making. So, uh he’s on the clock without a doubt. Uh I think everybody in this market is keeping really close tabs on him. And you just wonder, uh, when’s it going to look a little

After a slow start through the first 2 games, and a stretch that goes back over 18 months, Elias Pettersson is definitely ‘on the clock’.

  7. he hasnt tried to improve on any aspect of his game. that is proof the older u get the better u get at faceoffs like crosby, mcdavid except petterson. this the reason jt snapped on petterson but blame miller. biggest cancer in canucks history is petterson.

  8. He doesn't want to play here anymore. It's all just another Mitch Marner story where you see them bearing the logo as a child and the fanbase ruins it for them.

  9. Show up or ship out, cut his minutes until he proves on the game sheet he wants to play here. If you want a fanbase that doesn't care about accountability go to Vegas like the other guys who can't handle hard truths in the media. Maybe we could actually get some firepower on the team from that trade

  17. – the whole team has not had time to gel with all the new players. He played in a cesspool last year because no one pulled the trigger on getting rid of Miller who demonstrated he was not a team player and had to be benched for harassing our most talented player and poisoning the team environment.
    Give the new coach, new players and Patterson a chance.

  18. Hate when he hangs his head, on the first goal he turned it over and hung his head. Like bro get the puck back, start chasing your guy down asap.

    He hangs his head so people can notice his reaction, which means he definitely feels pressure from external stuff like media and fans and isnt able to tune it out and focus on task at hand. Which means its all mental.

    Unless his tendinitis is a nagging injury, theres no physical reason why he shouldnt still have all his skills

    My patience with this guy is done. How long until it’s no longer a slump and he just sucks? We’re going on 3 seperate seasons here.

    See how hard it is when you don’t have JT taking the tough minutes anymore? What’s the excuse now? Pettersson defenders always have an excuse

  25. We keep lowering the bar for this guy. Talking about his 2 way game and being without the puck etc. like that’s what’s he’s paid to do. Eventually he’ll be praised for being able to dress himself. Miller got moved because he called him out and unlike #40 he had trade value. If ever he was to get his game together it would have been representing his country at 4 nations and he sucked there too. Yay us😬

  29. He 100% has it in him but he's a human like the rest of us, crumbling under pressure and in his own head. It's something he needs to figure out for himself. I'm sure he will though. Hopefully soon.

  30. the canucks organization have always had some sort of fetish for glorifying its swedish players and always being quick to defend them. It starts with the culture and brand of the organization. Canucks hockey is this and has been this. We've had some amazing skilled, hard nosed players come into the organization at our luck, but it's always them that end up leaving our team. (ex. Kesler and now Miller). The organization needs to do better to stand by its more vocal players and leaders, and if other players can't follow this style or feel uncomfortable by it, then to trade them for players that are.

  31. Just put cootes and sherwood with him. Gritty is what he needs. Get mad petey. Ignore these fans. Most of them dont have a clue what they're complaining about, exvept yoy suck it up
